He was a native of New York, New York, son of the late Morris and Shirley Baime Marvin, graduate of Newark, N.J., schools, attended New York University, Army staff sergeant for 5½ years during World War II, Pacific Theater, owned and operated Marvin Children’s Apparel, Cranford, N.J., for 10 years, worked in sales with Ivey’s, Gastonia, agent for Pilot Life Insurance, retired as Gaston County tax assessor in 1975, member of First Presbyterian Church, deacon, member of Henderlite Bible class, Gastonia A.M. Optimist Club, active at the state level in child advocacy groups while wife, Helen Marvin, was state senator, recognized as honorary grandfather of N.C.
