She was a native of Lincoln County, daughter of the late Claud R. and Daisy Yount Whitener, wife of the late Howard R. Goodnight, graduated from Startown School and Kings Business College, Charlotte, longtime resident of Gastonia, a homemaker, member of First United Methodist Church.

He was a native of Gaston County, son of the late John Walter and Stella Bradley Culp Sr., husband of the late Mary Belle Carpenter Culp, president and treasurer of Standard Hardware, member of Gastonia Elks Club, lifelong member of First United Methodist Church, Gastonia.
