He was a native of Gaston County, son of the late Samuel Augustus and Nellie Henderson Moore, graduate of Belmont High School, attended UNC Charlotte, served in Marines during Korean War where he participated in the Inchon Invasion, retired from AT&T, member of AT&T Pioneers, Goshen Presbyterian Church, served as deacon, elder, Sunday school superintendent, teacher, former member of West Mecklenburg Optimist Club, coached little league.

She was a native of Cook Co., Ill., daughter of the late Robert Allen and Jane Bignell Sehneider, wife of the late Daniel Charles Dilling, homemaker, member of Central United Methodist Church where she was director of the senior citizens, Home Arts Club, Four Aces Bridge Club.
