LINCOLNTON - Thelma Marie Alexander Preston, 56, 313 Jennings St., died Feb. 20, 2000, at Gaston Memorial Hosptial, Gastonia. She was a native of Lincoln County, daughter of the late John and Annie Foster Alexander, mother of the late Sherron Charles, sister of the late Clarence, Oley and Paul Alexander, attended Church of God Prophecy, retired from Warp Knit as a creeler, graduated from Newbold High School in 1961.

"Junie" and Ruby Nix Cook, brother of the late Ambrose "Ham" Cook, retired warehouse foreman for Hoescht Celanese, active member of Shelby Missionary Methodist Church, steward, music director and Sunday school teacher, member of the American Legion baseball team that won the national championship in 1945, Army veteran, volunteer with the Council on Aging as co-director of Singing for Fun for almost 20 years, conducted musical ministry in nursing homes throughout Cleveland, Lincoln, Gaston and Rutherford counties.
