Caddie R. Salter
ATLANTIC-Caddie R. Salter, 89, deid April 18, 2001 at Carteret General Hospital, Morehead City. She was the widow of Charlie W. Salter.

A funeral was conducted Saturday in Atlantic United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jerry Martin. Burial as in Atlantic community Cemetery. Munden Funeral Home &Crematory was in charge.

Survivors include a daughter, Myrna S. Kington of Greensboro; a son, Bryan Salter of Sunbury; a sister, Mary R. Salter of Atlantic; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth O. Hingerty
SUFFOLK---Elizabeth "Bunny" Vick Oliver Hingerty, 85, a native of Conway, died April 20, 2001. She was the widow of Mills" target="_blank">Mills H. Hingerty and Eddie Lee Oliver.

A funeral was conducted Monday at Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home by the Rev. Jonathan Palmer. Interment was in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Hingerty was the founder, owner and operator of Bunny's Restaurant for more than 40 years. She was a member of Magnolia United Methodist Church.

Survivors include daughters, Barbara Ann Byrd and Nell V. Evans, both of Suffolk; stepdaughter, Becky Belvin of Stone Mountain, Ga.; stepsons, M.H. Hingerty III of Goose Creek, S.C. and Randy Hingerty of Chesapeake; sisters, Lessie V. Deanes of Murfreesboro, Frances V. Jones of Suffolk and Mary Catherine Andrews of Toano, Va.; a brother, Rueben Vick of Gates County; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

James W. Goodman
SUNBURY--- James Wesley Goodman, died April 19, 2001, at Down East Nursing Care in Gatesville.

A service was conducted Sunday at Ballard Grove Baptist Church, Eure, by the Rev. C.N. Moore. Burial was in Drake Memorial Chapel Cemetery. Applewhite Funeral Home was in charge.

Goodman joined St. John AME Zion Church.

Survivors include his mother, Nicolia Goodman of Sunbury; six sisters, Joan Goodaman of Sunbury, Peggie Walker of Gatesville, Annie Smith of Suffolk, Va., Mertha Gill of Hope Mills" target="_blank">Mills and Carrie Goodman of Fayetteville; and a brother, William Henry Goodman of Sunbury.

Cassie Feimster
SUNBURY--- Cassie Feimster, 86, a native of Gates County, died April 8, 2001.

A graveside service was conducted Friday at St. Paul Baptist Church by the Rev, C.N. Moore. Cherry's Funeral Home &Chapel and Corprews Funeral Home Portsmouth., was in charge.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Neal of Portsmouth, Va.. and Ruby of California; two sons, John and Michael Feimster of Portsmouth; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchildren.

Minnie R. Baines
GATES--- Minnie Riddick Baines, 67, died April 18, 2001.

A funeral was conducted Sunday at Apostolic Church of Faith. Hunter's Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, was in charge.

Arthur Castle
CORAPEAKE--- Arthur "Gary" Castle, 45, a native of Castlewood, Va., died April 19, 2001, at his home.

A funeral was conducted Sunday at Harrell Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Gene Asbill. Another service will be later in Castlewood.

Castle was a self-employed truck driver.

Survivors include one sister and one brother, Valerie Castle and Larry Castle, both of Castlewood; and his grandmother, Rose Culbertson of Kingsport, Tenn.

Alice J. Furr
CORAPEAKE--- Alice James Savage Furr, a retired teacher and native of Gates County, died April 15, 2001 in Obici Hospital.

Furr was the daughter of the late Carlton and Una Kittrell Savage and the widow of Hal LeRoy Furr. Mrs. Furr attended Wake Forest and East Carolina and held graduate degrees in education. She taught in North Carolina Public Schools and retired from teaching in the Suffolk Public Schools. She was a lifelong member of Parker's United Methodist Church and member of the Christian Woman's Club.

A funeral service was conducted April 19, 2001 in Parker's United Methodist Church by the Rev. Terry Williams with burial in the church cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Parker's United Methodist Church, Parker's Church road, Corapeake, NC 27926.

Survivors include a niece, Alice Vivian Savage of Weldon.

Carroll W. Ward Sr.
SUNBURY--- Carroll Warner Ward Sr., 64, a native of Chowan County, died April 15, 2001 at Down East Health and Rehab Center in Gatesville.

Ward was a member of Happy Home Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was retired from Overnite Transportation Company in Chesapeake, VA. He was an Army veteran.

Ward was the son of the late Rosley and Mamie Ward.

A funeral service was conducted April 17, 2001 at Happy Home Pentecostal Church by the Rev. Henry Pillow and the Rev. Cameron Currin. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his wife Elaine Miller Ward; one son, Carroll Ward Jr. of Sunbury; one step-daughter, Tammy Joes of Chester, VA; four sisters, Shelby Greene of Sunbury, Joanne Lassiter of Hobbsville, Bonnie Chappell of Belvedere and Patricia Copeland of Tyner; four bothers, Colley Ward of Columbia, Douglas Ward of Corapeake, Eleven Ward of Kansas City, KS; one step-grandson.

Jimmie L. Walton
GATES--- Jimmie Lee Walton, a native of Gates County, died April 15, 2001 at Obici Hospital in Suffolk, VA.

Walton was a logger and was the son of the late Willie Mae Walton and Charlie Parker.

A funeral was held April 19, 2001 at Apostolic Holiness Church in Sunbury with Bishop Robert Knight officiating.

Survivors include one sister, Patricia Ann Parker of Tarboro; and three brothers, George T. Walton of gates, Cecil V. Parker of gates and Charlie C. Parker of Sunbury.

James E. Riddick
PORTSMOUTH, VA--- James Edgar "Dick" Riddick, 73, a native of Perquimans County died April 16, 2001 in Maryview Bon Secours Nursing Home.

Riddick was retired from the City of Norfolk and Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was an Army veteran. He was a member of the Tidal Wave Masonic Lodge #273 AFAM, Norfolk Scottish Rite, Khedive Shrine Temple. He was the son of the late Kadar and Evie Overman Riddick. He was the widow of Lila Hankins Riddick.

A funeral service was conducted April 18, 2001 at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Portsmouth, VA. Entombment was in the Masonic Garden with Masonic rites.

Survivors include one niece Phyllis S, Harrell of Gatesville; two nephews, Arden Stallings of Corapeake and Kenny Stallings of Belvidere.

Linda W. Beamon
GATESVILLE - Linda Warren Beamon, 58, a native of Hertford County, died Sept. 3, 2001 in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Beamon was the daughter of the late Avis Jack and Reba Woodcox Warren, she was a homemaker and had been employed with Stewart Saw Works in Gatesville.

A graveside service was conducted Sept. 5, 2001 in Gatesville Cemetery by the Rev. William Clements.

Survivors include her husband, Ray G. Beamon Sr; three daughters, Karen Beamon and Jennifer Beamon, both of Gatesville; and Sandra O'Del of Boise, Idaho; four sons, R. Gordon Beamon Jr, Joseph B. Beamon and Danny Beamon, all of Gatesville and John Beamon of Meridan, Idaho; two brothers, Kenny Warren of Engelhard and David Warren of Engelhard and David Warren of Ahoskie; and 10 grandchildren.
