Alma Douthit
Thomasville - Mrs. Alma Adams Douthit, 89, of 7051/2 Pennington Ave. died at 4:50 p.m. April 11, 2000, at Community General Hospital.
She was born Sept. 15, 1910, in Anson County, a daughter of Thomas Dudley and Aggie Sellers Adams. She was a homemaker, a member of Southgate Baptist Church and the WMU She married Alton John Douthit, who preceded her in death June 23, 1971. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Douthit Davis and a son, Billy Joe Douthit.
Surviving are a daughter, Patricia A. Douthit of Charlotte; two sisters, Leola Hinson and Virginia Davidson, both of Rockingham; a daughter-in-law, Eunice Douthit of Archdale; a son-in-law, Edward Davis Sr. of Thomasville; an aunt, Effie Brickhouse of Columbia; and 10 grandchildren, Linda Pendry of Thomasville, Shirley Dunkley of Archdale, John Douthit of Archdale, Debbie Walker of Trinity, Edward Davis Jr. and Ron Davis, both of Ohio, Wanda Stanley of Thomasville, John Davis of Tennessee, Jerry Davis of Reidsville and Terry Davis of Mt. Airy; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at Southgate Baptist Church by the Rev. Chuck Garner and the Rev. Andy Royals. Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery, Rockingham. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
Memorials may be directed to Southgate Baptist Church, 1100 Liberty Drive, Thomasville, N.C. 27360.

Kenneth Messer
High Point - Kenneth Wayne Messer, 46, of 5675 Old Thomasville Road died April 12, 2000, at Richmond Medical Center as a result of a truck accident.
Funeral arrangements is incomplete at Harold C. Davis Funeral Home.

William Perkins
Radford, Va. - William Aubrey Perkins, 76, of 900 Randolph St. died April 11, 2000, at Roanoke Community Hospital.
He was born Aug. 8, 1923, in High Point, N.C., a son of Joseph Lavender and Clara Ware Barber Perkins, who preceded him in death. He grew up in High Point, and graduated from High Point High School and attended business college. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He took engineering courses through the North Carolina State College on the campus of High Point College. He was employed by Burlington Industries as an office manager in 1953 and retired in 1985 with 32 years of service. He was a resident of Radford for the last 28 years.
He was a long time active member of Central United Methodist Church. He faithfully worked each week at Daily Bread serving meals to the hungry. In recent years he was active in exercising at the Wellness Center. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 48 years, Anna Lee Hicks Perkins.
Surviving are his wife, Geraldine 'Gerry' Perkins of Radford; a son and daughter-in-law, William Aubrey 'Chip' and Susan Perkins of Marietta, Ga.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Janice Lee and Robert Dockery of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Clara Pauline 'Polly' Bennett of Christiansburg; four grandchildren, Brian Perkins and his wife, Beth, of Atlanta, Kara Perkins of Marietta, Star Krayer of High Point and Sam Krayer of Greensboro, N.C.; a brother, Joseph L. Perkins and his wife, Frances, of Greensboro; a sister, Virgia Mae Abernathy of High Point. The family is very thankful for the faithful friendship of Verna and Harry Bishop and Polly and Bill Goode, all of Radford.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Central United Methodist Church by the Rev. Curt McKee. Graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. at Carolina Memorial Park, Concord, N.C. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at Seaver-Sanders & Mullins Funeral Home.

Wade Russell
Denton - Wade Fletcher Russell, 78, died April 12, 2000.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton.

Catherine Shoaf
Lexington - Mrs. Catherine Jean Ingle Shoaf, 61, of Ridge Road died at 4:45 a.m. April 12, 2000, at her residence after declining health of one year.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Midway United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 6-8 tonight.

Henry Swicegood
Lexington - Henry Frank Swicegood, 87, of N.C. 150 S. Linwood die April 12, 2000, at his residence after three months of illness.
Funeral will be 4:30 p.m. Friday at Churchland Baptist Church. Visitation will be after the service in the church fellowship hall.
Davidson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lula Albertson
Trinity - Mrs. Lula Marsh Albertson, 100, formerly of 4722 Meadowbrook Road, died April 11, 2000, at GrayBrier Nursing and Retirement Center.
She was born Oct. 1, 1899, in Randolph County, a daughter of William Clark and Agusta Myers Marsh. She was a resident of Trinity most of her life. She had been employed by Silver Knit Hosiery Co. and retired from Triangle Hosiery Co. She was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher in the children's department for 40 years and also was active in United Methodist Women of the church. In April 1920 she married Vernie Howard Albertson, who preceded her in death in June 1978. She also was preceded in death by two sons, William Howard Albertson and John Walter Albertson.
Surviving are a son, Basil E. Albertson Sr. of 5724 Ronniedale Road, Trinity; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Johnson of 4020 W. Friendly Ave., Greensboro; a sister, Mrs. Carrie Stout of Thomasville; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. today at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, by the Rev. Chris Bennett and the Rev. Robert Witty. Burial will be in Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be at the residence of her grandson, Ronnie Albertson, 5377 Albertson Farm Road.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Memorials may be directed to Hopewell United Methodist Church Building Fund, 4512 Hopewell Church Road, Trinity, N.C. 27370.

Frank Anthony
Trinity - Frank Jenkins Anthony, 88, of 3611 Old Tobacco Road died April 12, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital following three months of declining health.
He was born April 28, 1911, in Cleveland County, a son of Stanhope Pinkney and Sally Falls Anthony. He was a resident of Trinity most of his life. He retired from William Alan Furniture Co. He was a member of Glenola Baptist Church and Sunday school. On Nov. 29, 1929, he married the former Nellie Durham, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are a son, Bobby Lee Anthony and his wife, Nancy, of Trinity; a brother, Bill Anthony and his wife, Arnie, of Raleigh; three sisters, Ailene Lane of Florence, S.C., Margaret Carter of Charlotte and Madge Page of Myrtle Beach; and two grandchildren, Darren Anthony and his wife, RexAnne, and Sheila Whitehead and her husband, Jeff.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Glenola Baptist Church by the Rev. Doug Davis. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The body will be at Cumby Family Service, Archdale, and will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dora Blue
Thomasville - Mrs. Dora Sullivan Barker Blue, 87, of Fair Grove Forest died April 12, 2000, at Clemmons Village in Clemmons.
She was born June 30, 1912, in Davidson County, a daughter of Samuel and Annie Susan Hartman Sullivan. She was a retiree of Maurice Hosiery. She was a member of Fair Grove United Methodist Church. She was married to Rufus Leon Blue, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, Brathel Edwin Barker and his wife, Jewel, of Norfolk, Va., and Sheriff Ron Barker and his wife, Patricia, of Kernersville; a sister, Mrs. Johnsie Fine of Thomasville; four grandsons; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel by the Rev. Glenn G. Davis. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

D. Crotts Jr.
Maryville, Tenn. - David Jacob Crotts Jr., 76, formerly of Lexington, died April 12, 2000.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Timberlake Chapel at Piedmont Funeral Home, Lexington, N.C. Visitation will be 7-9 at the funeral home tonight.

Elizabeth Crotts
Rockingham - Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Crotts, 59, of 1105 Lancaster Lane died April 13, 2000, at her residence.
She was born May 3, 1940, in Randolph County, a daughter of Pheoba Bleece and Margaret Whitaker Stinson. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Rockingham, where she was active in the United Methodist Women and the choir until her health failed. She retired from Pee Dee Council of Governments, and had been manager of the Ellerbe Meal Site. She was active in the Artists Council and the Home Extension Club. She had been a Girl Scout Leader and had taught young children's Sunday school at First United Methodist Church in Mountain City, Tenn. She was a charter member of the Beta Theta Club in Mountain City. She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Roger Stinson.
Surviving are her husband, C. Benson Crotts of the residence; a son, Shannon B. Crotts of the residence; two daughters, Paula Lee-Ann Williams of Myrtle Beach and Regina Harrison of Rockingham; her mother of Trinity; a sister, Shirley Stilwell of Thomasville; and five grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert Flynn and the Rev. Leonard Mayo. Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Saturday in Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church Cemetery, Trinity. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at Carter Funeral Home, Rockingham, and at other times at the residence.
