Arlene Berrier
Lexington - Willie Arlene Louya Berrier, 78, died April 28, 2000.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel by Rev. Don Leonard, Rev. Jake Sharpe and Rev. Don Elsinger. Burial will be in Lexington City Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Davidson Funeral Home.

James Boyd
High Point - James Samuel Boyd, 86, of 327 Montlieu Ave. died April 28, 2000, at the High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born in Anderson, S.C. on Sept. 24, 1913, a son to the late Samuel Oscar Boyd and Frances Williams Boyd.
On April 10, 1931, he was married to Martha Caudle Boyd, who survives of the home. He was a retired salesman with Morgan Sign Machine Company of Chicago. He was a WWII Army Veteran and attained the rank of Master Sergeant with the Army Corp. of Engineers and served during the European Theatre.
He was a Mason with the Web Lodge in Augusta, Ga. and a Shriner, a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church and an avid fisherman. His name is preserved on one of the original tables of the old Krispy Kreme at the High Point Museum.
Also surviving are one daughter, Barbara Boyd Williams, of High Point; two grandchildren, James D. Williams of High Point and Victoria Lamb of Thomasville; seven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Cumby Family Funeral Service of High Point by Rev. Carol Williams-Gilbert and Mr. Steve Witt. Entombment will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont, Inc., 1801 Westchester Dr., High Point, N.C. 27262.

John Dennis
Jamestown - John G. Dennis, Jr., 67, died April 28, 2000, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.
He was employed with Piedmont Natural Gas Co.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda Slack Dennis, of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Joni and Johnny Jones of Colfax; two sons and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Sherry Dennis of High Point and Barry Dennis of Jamestown; his mother, Lessie Maness Dennis of Jamestown; one brother, James Burley Dennis and his wife, Norma of Jamestown; one sister, Bobbie Cruthis and her husband, Harold, of Jamestown; one sister, Louise Smith and her husband, Buddy, of Reidsville; and six grandchildren.
Cryptside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Guilford Memorial Park. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Monday at Hanes-Lineberry, Sedgefield Chapel.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, N.C. 27405.

Theo Frazier
High Point - Theo Anderson Frazier, 74, of Archdale died April 28, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born Aug. 8, 1925, in Guilford County, the son of Anderson and Lillie Lewallen Frazier. He retired from Adams-Mullis after 41 years of employment and was a Deacon at Wayside Chapel for eight years.
Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Della Stamper Shepard Frazier of Archdale; two sons, Buster Shepard of Jamestown and Johnny Ray Shepard of Archdale; one daughter, Marie Fite of Tyler, Tx.; two brothers, Sabra Frazier of Thomasville and Dwight Frazier of High Point; one sister, Bera Williams of Greensboro; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Harold C. Davis Chapel by Rev. Jessie Maynard. Burial will be at Spring Hill U.M.C. Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the Harold C. Davis funeral home.

Vada Gaddis
High Point - Mrs. Vada Henderson Gaddis, 89, of 1519 Woodside Ave. died April 28, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born Aug. 4, 1910, in Montgomery County, the daughter of John F. and Claudia Lee Russell. She attended Eldorado High School and Bryce Commercial College. She was retired as a bookkeeper at B and W Frame Works.
She was a member of Montlieu Ave. United Methodist Church, the Montlieu United Methodist Women, The Joy Circle and the Iveigh Fellowship Sunday School Class. She was a former treasurer of the church.
On Sept. 16, 1943, she married Herman L. Gaddis, who preceded her in death on Sept. 27, 1978. She was also preceded in death by her son, Ted Russell Henderson in 1981 and daughter-in-law, Betty L. Henderson, in 1999.
Surviving are four grandchildren, Brenda Campbell and her husband, Jimmy, of High Point, Gail Butler and her husband, Rod, of Salter Path, David Henderson and his wife, Rebecca, of Colfax, and Harold Henderson and his wife, Rita, of Fredericksburg, Va.; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Montlieu United Methodist Church by Rev. Nathan T. Snider. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The body will remain at Sechrest Funeral Home on E. Lexington Avenue where visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. today.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Eastchester Dr., High Point, N.C. 27262.

Henry Jenkins
High Point - Henry Eugene Jenkins, 79, of 1128 Wayside St. died April 27, 2000, at Vencor Hospital in Greensboro.
He was born May 31, 1920, in Guilford County, a son of Henry Lee and Dorothy Jones Jenkins. He was raised in Thomasville and graduated from Thomasville High School in the class of 1939, where he starred in baseball, wrestling and football. In his senior year, he led the state of North Carolina in batting average.
He had been a resident of High Point since 1943 and was employed as chief engineer of maintenance for Triad Investments in Greensboro, retiring in 1984 due to ill health. A veteran of WWII, he was a captain in the Air Force and was transferred to the U.S. Army.
On Dec. 30, 1936, he married Ruby Smith, who survives of the Evergreen Nursing Home.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Robbie Lee Smith and husband, Barrie, of Tampa, Fla. and Miss Debbie Gail Jenkins of High Point; and two grandchildren, Amy Lynn Earl and Larry Lee Earl, Jr.
He was preceded in death by a son, Henry Eugene Jenkins, Jr., and a brother, Harry Raymond Jenkins.
A private graveside service will be held at Floral Garden Park Cemetery by Rev. William Taylor. Military honors will be by the Randolph Honor Guard. The body will remain at Sechrest Funeral Home in High Point.

Annie Mayfield
High Point - Mrs. Annie B. (Pee-Wee) Mayfield, 47, of 1507 E. Green Dr. died April 27, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born Sept. 28, 1952, in Marlboro County, S.C., a daughter of Ozzie Hope, Sr. and Margaret Brown. She was an assembler at Leggett and Platt and attended Maxton High School. She was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist and a member of the Usher Board Ministry.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Hope.
Surviving are her husband, Wille Mayfield; two sons, Mondrea (Ronica) Malachi and Tellius (Jacqueline) Malachi; her parents; six brothers, Ozzie Hope, Jr., Michael Hope, Johnny Hope, Minister Bobby Hope, Charles Hope and Terry Hope; seven sisters, Miss Abbie Hope, Miss Gail Hope, Miss Mickey Hope, Mrs. Sarah Gaines, Mrs. Ola McMillan, Mrs. Mildred Lowery and Mrs. Ester Wadley; her grandmother, Laurel Bell Brown; three grandchildren, Miss Jamelia Malachi, Miss Jasmine Malachi and Miss Jolecyn Payne; a special friend, Rosa Prince; two step-daughters, Jacqueline Mayfield and Clarissa Mayfield; her mother-in-law Annie Mayfield; four sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church by Rev. J.W. Flake. Interment will be in Floral Garden. Visitation will be 1:30-2 p.m. Tuesday at the church and other times at 107 Spring Garden Circle, High Point.

Leola McKinney
High Point - Mrs. Leola Moon McKinney, 88, of 225 Windley St. died April 28, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born July 2, 1912, in Marion, Ga., a daughter of Walter Moon and Orilla Bailey. She was retired and was a lifelong Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John McKinney; four sons, Burford McKinney, Rogers McKinney, Perry McKinney and Kerry McKinney; and two daughters, Jonnie McKinney and Paulette McKinney.
Surviving are three sons, Troy McKinney of Brooklyn, N.Y., Larry McKinney and John McKinney, both of High Point; five daughters, Mrs. Edith Pendergrass and Mrs. Maureen Hyatte and husband, Melvin, both of Brooklyn, N.Y., Mrs. Aramintha Ware and husband, Moses, Mrs. Rosa Medley and Mrs. Brunea Pinson, all of High Point; two sisters, Edith Moon of Shelby and Nettie Kirkland of Manhattan, N.Y.; 43 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Funeral will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at Agape Family Ministries by Roy Fitzgerald. Interment will be in Carolina Biblical Gardens. Visitation will be 3:30-4 p.m. Tuesday at the church and other times at the home.

Elvin Mooney
High Point - “Al” Elvin Wesley Mooney, 65, of High Point, died April 29, 2000, at his home.
He was born on June 15, 1934, in Sparta, a son of the late Johnny Wesley and Mattie Sexton Mooney. He was a member of Samaratin Baptist Church and was retired from Stanley Furniture.
Surviving are his wife, Janie M. Mooney, of the home; two daughters, Pat Mooney Ward of Conway, S.C. and Libby Mooney Banks, of Mocksville; six sons, Dallas Mooney of Conway, S.C., David Mooney of Kernersville, Ronald Mooney of Sumter, S.C., Darrell Mooney of Virginia Beach, Va., David Pyrtle of Thomasville and Johnny Pyrtle of Kernersville; 19 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Beverly M. (Belva) Brooks of Sparta.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Samaratin Baptist Church by Rev. Danny Smith. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today at Foster Funeral Home.

Edith Stanley
Thomasville - Mrs. Edith Rickard Stanley, 78, a resident of 308 Washboard Rd. died April 28, 2000, at her residence.
She was born July 23, 1921, in Davidson County, a daughter of Curtis Roscoe Rickard and Ida Mae Hicks Rickard. She was a retired employee with Anvil Brand of High Point. She was a member of Pleasant Garden United Methodist Church.
She was married to James Leonard Stanley, who preceded her in death in 1983. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Jack W. Rickard, Tom Rickard and Robert Rickard.
Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Richard (Martha) Griffin of Southmont; three brothers, James Jim Rickard of Thomasville, Ronald Bud Rickard of Denton and Glenn B. Rickard of Winston-Salem.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church by Rev. B. Joe Parker. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will remain at the J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at the home.
Memorials may be directed to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1049, Thomasville, N.C. 27361.

Theodore Wood
Lexington - Theodore (Yank) Wood, 81, died April 29, 2000.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday at North Lexington Baptist Church. Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday at the church.

Wayne Abernathy
Lexington - Wayne Abernathy, 61, of Bowers Road died April 26, 2000, after a sudden illness.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Mt. Tabor United Church of Christ. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 tonight at Davidson Funeral Home.
