Larry Hand
Jamestown - Larry E. Hand, 45, died April 22, 2000, at his residence in Shady Valley, Tenn.
He was born in Washington County, Va., a son of Ruby Hand Boone of Damascus, Va., and the late Paul Hand. He is also survived by his step-father and special friend, Thurman Boone. He had lived in Johnson County, Tenn., most of his life. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Hand.
In addition to his mother and step-father, he is also survived by his wife, Carolyn Watson Hand, of Jamestown; two daughters, Melissa Harding of Damascus, and Karen Mincey of Archdale; two sisters, Mrs. Glenn (Connie) Meredith of Jamestown, and Linda McGlamery of Abingdon, Va.; two brothers, Charles Hand of Shady Valley, Tenn., and James “Bud” Hand of Damascus; one grandson, Seth Harding; two son-in-laws, Mark Harding and Daniel Mincey; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the gravesite in Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus with the Rev. Bill Worley officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the American Cancer Society, 167 E. Main St., Abingdon, Va., 27210. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Johnson Funeral Home or anytime at the home of his mother.
Johnson Funeral Home in Damascus is serving the family.

Janet McGee
Jamestown - Mrs. Janet Berrier McGee, 66, a resident of 4344 Midway School Road, died April 23, 2000, at her residence.
She was born in Davidson County on Jan. 8, 1934, a daughter of Ray E. Berrier and Margaret Walker Berrier, and was a life-long resident of Davidson County. She was a graduate of Midway High School and had retired from Miller Desk Co. in High Point. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church where she was a teacher of the Ladies Bible Class. She was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels of Davidson County. On May 30, 1952, she was married to Luther Hobert McGee Jr. who died May 19, 1998.
Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Tammy) Doub of Winston-Salem; two sons, Terry Luther McGee and wife, Rena, of Winston-Salem, and Jeffrey Wayne McGee and wife, Susie, of Thomasville; a sister, Mrs. Pete (Evelyn) Leonard of Winston-Salem; a brother, Roy E. Berrier and wife, Martha, of Winston-Salem; her paternal grandmother, Mrs. Elzie Berrier of Thomasville; seven grandchildren, Terry Luther McGee Jr., Brian Christopher McGee, Matthew Todd McGee, Cameron Michael Doub, Megan Paige McGee, Ashley Marie McGee and Katie Elizabeth Doub.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church by the Rev. Bill Dingus. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will remain at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will be at the funeral home from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and other times at the home of a son, Terry Luther McGee, 4371 Midway School Road, Winston-Salem. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Davidson County, P.O. Box 1941, Lexington, N.C. 27293-1941.

Clarence Clark
High Point - Clarence Edward Clark, 55, of 611 Hedrick St. died April 24, 2000, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
He was born Jan. 9, 1945, in Dillon County, S.C., a son of Willie and Armetta Strickland Clark. He was a resident of High Point most of his life and employed by Davis Furniture Industries. On April 18, 1964, he married the former Azlie Jones, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are a daughter, Tammy Brown of Thomasville; a grandson, William Gray Dunlap III; his father of Latta, S. C.; two sisters, Virginia Alford of Latta and Molly Rewis of Dillon, S.C.; and two brothers, John Clark of Monroe and J.D. Clark of Florence, S.C.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point, by the Rev. Ronald Smith. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Rodney Covington
High Point - Rodney Lawrence Covington, 52, of 1441 Bailey Circle died April 20, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born Feb. 28, 1948, in High Point, a son of Lawrence Richard and Mary Allred Covington. He was employed with Sears in Greensboro and was a former employee with Piedmont Ford.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ashley Covington Hoover and her husband, Jeffrey, and Miss Angela Lynn Covington, both of Denton; a sister, Mrs. James (Gayle) Cox of High Point; and his uncle, Paul Allred of the residence.
Memorial graveside services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday in Floral Garden Park Cemetery by the Rev. Bryan Adkins and the Rev. Hulon Pate. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Sechrest Funeral Home, E. Lexington Avenue.
Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association, 3109 Poplarwood Ct., Raleigh, N.C. 27604-1043.

Janice Davis
High Point - Mrs. Janice Helen Lamb Davis, 51, of 1740-C N. Hamilton St. died April 23, 2000.
She was born Nov. 7, 1948, in Guilford County, a daughter of James Hartford and Thelma Simmons Lamb. She was a lifelong resident of High Point and a 1967 graduate of High Point Central High School. On July 11, 1968, she married Dwight A. Davis.
Surviving are her parents; her husband; a son and a daughter-in-law; Bryan E. and Sheree Davis of High Point; and two sisters,, Bonnie Manard of Sparta, Tenn. and Pam Register of Raleigh.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point, by the Rev. Marcus Campbell and the Rev. Steve Welborn. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday and other times at the residence of her mother, 841 Lakecrest Drive.

Earsley Earnhardt
High Point - Mrs. Earsley Safrit Earnhardt, 84, of 1200 S. Elm St. died April 23, 2000, at the Presbyterian Home.
She was born Oct. 10, 1915, a daughter of Cobern and Lillian Wilson Safrit. She was formerly employed at Highland Cotton Mills as a spinner and had attended Southside Baptist Church. On Oct. 2, 1937, she married Robert Wade Earnhardt, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Wayne Earnhardt and his wife, Patricia, of Spring Hill, Fla., and Harold Sherman Earnhardt and his wife, Judi, of Trinity; a sister, Eavie Kinley of Archdale; six grandchildren, Tami Williams of Long Beach, Robert Wayne Earnhardt Jr. of Raleigh, Jeff Earnhardt of Trinity, Harold Earnhardt Jr. of Trinity, Cindy Earnhardt of High Point and Ricky Earnhardt of Raleigh; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Harold C. Davis Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. James Summey. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Vada Edwards
Williamston - Ms. Vada Peed Edwards, 89, of 301 Wildcat Road died April 23, 2000.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Biggs Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Bobby Hall
Thomasville - Bobby Bryan Hall, 72, of 368 Poole Road died April 22, 2000, at Community General Hospital.
Memorial service will be held 7 p.m. tonight at Family Funeral Care Chapel.

J. Hamilton Jr.
Thomasville - Johnny Hamilton Jr., 65, of 353 Calvin Road died April 24, 2000, at his residence.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

E. Marion
Moncks Corner - E. Garland Marion, 75, died April 24, 2000, at his residence.
He was born July 12, 1924, in Mount Airy, N.C., a son of Eddie Franklin Marion and Daisy Ellen Wood Marion. He was former owner and operator of Moncks Corner Upholstery Shop and Moncks Corner Trailer Court. He was a member of First Christian Church of Moncks Corner, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent, choir member, church clerk, deacon and elder.
Surviving are his wife, Doris Hayworth Marion of Moncks Corner; a son, Jerry L. Marion of Portland, Texas; two daughters, Judy M. Metts and June M. Goertzen, both of Moncks Corner; a brother, the Rev. Johnie Marion of Eastwood, Ky.; two sisters, Norma Lee Cecil of Charlotte, N.C., and Edna Taylor of High Point, N.C.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Russell Funeral Chapel. Entombment will be in Whispering Pines Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

George Oliver Herbert Moorehead Sr.
Louisville, Ky. - George Oliver Herbert Moorehead Sr., formerly of High Point, died March 30, 2000.
He was born in Orangeburg, S.C., a son of Oliver and Sarah Moorehead. He moved to High Point, N.C., after the death of his mother, where he was reared by his paternal grandparents. He graduated from William Penn High School and attended City College and Brooklyn College, New York, and Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio. Most of his career was in the field of insurance, where he was a recipient of various awards and recognition for 55 years of continuous service. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Clarice Mock of High Point; and a son, Herbert Moorehead Jr.
Surviving are a son, Donald Moorehead and his wife, Abby, of Waukegan, Ill.; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Moorehead of Detroit; and a sister-in-law, Magolia M. Hart of High Point.
Funeral was held April 3 at Watkins United Methodist Church.
A.D. Porter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Maxine Poole
Lexington - Mrs. Maxine Russell Poole, 67, of Shoaf St. died at 9:20 a.m. April 24, 2000, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Christ Chapel United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington.

Violet White
Denton - Mrs. Violet Hope Peacock White, 73, of 444 High Rock Road died April 24, 2000.
She was born July 9, 1926, in Davidson County, a daughter of Vernon and Blanche Steed Peacock. She was a member of First Baptist Church and retired from Burlington Industries.
Surviving are two sons, Eddie White of Salisbury and David White of Denton; three daughters, Sandra Vanhoy of Albermarle, Lisa Land of New London and Tammy Hedrick of Lexington; five grandchildren; and a brother, Don Peacock of Denton.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church by the Rev. Vern Peterson and the Rev. Charles Moses. Burial will be in Mountain View Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 tonight at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, and other times at the residence.
Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association, c/o Teresa Coble, 239 Homestead Drive, Lexington, N.C. 27292, or American Cancer Society, 1114 Magnolia St., Greensboro, N.C. 27401.

Jane Wood
Winston-Salem - Mrs. Jane Tucker Wood, 56, 234 Aztec Lane died April 23, 2000, at
her residence.
She was born Sept. 2, 1943, in Guilford County, a daughter of Rupert and Margaret Foust Tucker. She worked in accounts receivable at Murrows Transfer Co. She was a member of Hilliard Memorial Baptist Church, the Adult Sunday School Class, the choir and she was a Sunday school teacher She was a leader of the girls auxiliary and was involved in the puppet ministry. She married Paul A. Wood, who preceded her in death in August 1994.
Surviving are three sons, Tim Wood of Winston-Salem, Kenny Wood and his wife, Shelley, of Trinity and Allen Wood of Greensboro; two sisters, Ronda Tucker of Denton and a twin sister, June Tucker of High Point; and two grandchildren, Collin and Taylor.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hilliard Memorial Baptist Church by the Rev. Raymond Needham. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Sechrest Funeral Home, High Point.
