Elizabeth Dalton
High Point - Mrs. Elizabeth Andrews Dalton, 74 of 1089 Abbotts Creek Church Road died May 14, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born Aug. 26, 1925, in Raleigh, a daughter of David H. and Mary Thomas Andrews. She graduated from Queens College with an AB degree in French in 1946 and was on the Queens College dean's list. She was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority and was president of Alpha Kappa Gamma (Regional Honorary Leadership Fraternity for Women) in 1945. She endowed an international scholarship for students at Queens College and was listed in Who's Who Among College and University Students in America in 1945-46. She was a former board of trustee member at Queens College and vice president of the Boarding School Council. She was presented by the Terpsichorean Debutante Club in Raleigh as a state debutante in 1946. She received a MS degree is library science in 1947 from UNC-Chapel Hill. She had been a member of the High Point Junior League since September 1952. She was a very active member of the Alexander Martin chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution for which she served in numerous capacities including chapter regent, District V secretary/treasurer, state chairman of genealogical records and state librarian. She was a member of the Presbyterian Women and the First Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school and Bible school as well as served as circle chairman. As a member of the Centennial Committee and chairwoman of the Church History Committee, she was instrumental in the writing and publication of the historical update for 1959-84 for the First Presbyterian Church of High Point. She loved all animals and for many years showed horses on both local and national levels where she won many awards. On Sept. 26, 1947, she married Pleasant Hunter Dalton Jr. who survives of the home.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Marybeth Dalton Grein and her husband, John Charles, of 406 Dorado Drive; two sons, Pleasant Hunter Dalton III and his wife, Marlene Williams, of 1327 Georgetown Court, David Andrews Dalton and his wife, Bonnie Moffitt, of Portland, Ore.; and six grandchildren, Timothy David Grein, Hunter Dalton Grein, Michael Williams Dalton, Melissa Andrews Dalton, Andrew Heath Dalton and Abigail Heather Dalton.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church by Dr. R. Scott Woodmansee and the Rev. Lisa M. Mullen. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The body will remain at Sechrest Funeral Home in High Point until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the funeral. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be John Charles Grein, Andrew Heath Dalton, Timothy David Grein, Hunter Dalton Grein, Michael Williams Dalton, Marion C. Rowland, J.C. McCallister and Donald P. Douglass. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Alexander, Al Bernot, Don Boyd, Charles Blackburn, Phil Dixon, Clarence Keever, Jim Randle, Fred Schwartzberg and Harvey Speaks.
Memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church 908 N. Main St., High Point 27262 or Queens College, 1900 Selwyn Ave., Charlotte, N.C. 28274.

Mary Darr
Winston-Salem - Mrs. Mary Whitt Darr, 87, died May 14, 2000, at the Oaks At Forsyth.
She was born Oct. 1, 1912, in Forsyth County, the daughter of Frank and Nellie Carroll Whitt. She was a member of Pinedale Christian Church and was baptized at the original Urban Street Church of Christ on May 9, 1926. She was retired from Thalhimers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde E. Darr on April 22, 2000; a sister, Carrie Whitt Jurney; and a brother, Howard Whitt.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Don Charles; a son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Betty Darr, all of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren, Donny and Mark Charles, Lori C. Sullivan, Anne D. Colbert and David Darr; six great-grandchildren, Timothy, Emily, Melanie, Isaac and Elizabeth Charles and Taylor Colbert; and a sister, Ola Shepherd of Asheville.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pinedale Christian Church by the Rev. Bill McKenzie and Pastor Donny Charles. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.

Athlone Hepler
High Point - Mrs. Athlone Williams Hepler, 75, died May 14, 2000.

Ruby Hoover
Greensboro - Mrs. Ruby Hohn Hoover, 63, died May 13, 2000, at her residence.
She was a member of Spring Garden Friends Meeting and a graduate of Greensboro High School. She was employed with the Guilford County court system for 20 years and Desota Chemical Co. until her retirement. She was preceded in death by her son, Lindley Michael Hoover.
Surviving are her husband of 39 years, Henry Hoover of Greensboro; one daughter, Cindy Idol of Colfax; one sister, Hilda Briggs of Lexington; one brother, Max Hohn of Greensboro, and two grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel.

Billy Ray Nail
Thomasville - Billy Ray Nail, 56, of 205 Henderson Drive died May 13, 2000, in Carteret Memorial Hospital in Morehead City.
He was born May 20, 1943, in Davidson County, a son of John Garland and Thelma Hayes Nail. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the U.S.S. Enterprise in the Coral Sea during the Vietnam Era. In November 1972, he joined the Davidson County Sheriff's Office, retiring as chief department major July 30, 1999. He was a member of the board of Blue Line Foundation, Silver Valley Civitan Club and the Navy V.F.W. On May 31, 1970, he married Pearl Grimsley Nail, who died March 13, 1999. On June 29, 1999, he married Debra Rowe, who survives of the home. He also was preceded in death by a son, Joey Lee Nail.
Also surviving are a stepdaughter, Karen Beal of High Point; a stepson, Robbie Beal of Thomasville; two sisters, Mrs. Julian (Betty) Henderson of Thomasville and Ms. Bonnie Beck of Lexington; a brother, John Garland Nail Jr. of Florida; a granddaughter, Morgan Beal; two grandsons, Jordan Beal and Tyler Beal; and several nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Pentecostal Holiness Church on New Highway 64, Lexington, by the Rev. Wayne Knight. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The body will remain at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and at other times at the home on Henderson Drive.

Ronald Osborne
Sophia - Ronald Belvion Osborne, 55, of 3571 Roy Farlow Road Lot 38 died May 14, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Cumby Family Funeral Service of Archdale.

Mildred Peatross
High Point - Mrs. Mildred M. Peatross, 88, died May 14, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital following an illness.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Harold C. Davis Funeral Home.

Frank Sinopoli
Greensboro - Frank Robert Sinopoli of 3547 Old Onslow Road, died May 11, 2000, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 17, 1916, in Fresno, Calif. He joined the U.S. Navy in San Diego in 1941 and served as a naval recruiting officer, eventually stationed in Greensboro, where he met and married Dorothy Earls Brown in 1945. He founded Sinopoli Sales Co. in 1953 and his career spanned 46 years. He was a member of the Masonic Order and First Presbyterian Church in Greensboro. He was an avid golfer at Sedgefield Country Club.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 54 years are one daughter, Kathryn Lynn Sinopoli of Winston-Salem; a son and daughter-in-law, Phillip Anthony Sinopoli and Kathy Price Sinopoli; a granddaughter, Cameron Lynn Sinopoli; a grandson, Richard Franklin Sinopoli; two sisters, Josephine Mankini and Mary Rontelli of Fresno; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Sedgefield Presbyterian Church, 4216 Wayne Road, by the Rev. Will Terry of Sedgefield Presbyterian Church and the Rev. Daniel W. Jones of Reidsville. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park on High Point Road.
Memorials can be made to Sedgefield Presbyterian Church or the charity of choice.

Charles Walker
Sophia - Charles M. Walker, 93, of Flint Hill Road died May 14, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital following six months of declining health.
He was born Nov. 28, 1906, in Randolph County, a son of David M. and Miriam Smith Walker. He lived in Randolph County his entire life and retired from Burlington Industries. He enjoyed baseball, hunting and farming. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred T. Walker and 17 brothers and sisters.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Wanda Gurley and her husband, Ronald, of Sophia, and Mrs. Julia Nelson and her husband, Leroy, of Oak Island; three sons, Milton T. Walker and his wife, Harriett, of Sophia, Joel B. Walker and his wife, Mary, of Trinity and Dwight C. Walker and his wife, Nancy, of Sophia; 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Gilead Methodist Church by the Rev. Charles B. Walker and the Rev. Jim Honeycutt. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at Harold C. Davis Funeral Home and at other times at the residence.
Memorials may be made to Mt. Gilead Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 4736 Mt. Gilead Church Road, Sophia, N.C. 27350.

Jerry Cox
Asheboro - Jerry Lee Cox, 54, of 2478 S. Lake Drive died May 11, 2000, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Randolph County and a member of Union Grove Baptist Church. He was employed with Lowe's Food Stores No. 123 in Archdale.
Surviving are his wife Patricia Harris Cox; three daughters, Charlotte Cox of the residence, Cynthia Cox Finley and Scarlett Cox Boling, both of Asheboro; two sons, Jeffery Cox of Maco and Christopher Cox of Asheboro; 13 grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Jo Ely of Randleman; three brothers, James Cox of Escondidos, Calif., Richard Cox of Asheboro and Robert Cox of Randleman.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Union Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Ron Copples and the Rev. Charles Spivey. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6-8:30 p.m. Sunday at Pugh Funeral Home.

Paul Fulk
High Point - Paul David Fulk, 63, of 1411 Cloverdale St. died May 12, 2000.
He was born May 11, 1937, a son of James and Elizabeth Fulk, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Vangleen Fulk of the residence; a daughter, Brenda Wright of Denton; a son, David Fulk of South Carolina; four stepchildren; three grandsons; one stepgranddaughter; one stepgrandson; and one great-grandson.
Funeral service will be at a later date. Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the residence.

Brandon Haire
Thomasville - Brandon Jay Haire, 24, of 5888 Midway School Road #20 died May 11, 2000, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 28, 1976 in Mecklenburg County. He was employed by Electronic Data Magnetics and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed his past-time as an artist and a musician. On July 23, 1995, he married the former Shannon Smith, who survives of High Point.
Also surviving are a son, Dylan Lee Haire, his mother and stepfather, Mrs. Risa Street and her husband, Conley, of Thomasville; a sister, Shannon Ann Haire of Texas; and a brother, Phillip Christian of Reidsville.
Memorial service will be 7 p.m. Monday at Family Funeral Care Chapel. There will be no visitation.

Hazel Hurt
Thomasville - Mrs. Hazel Elmore Hurt, 72, of 7112 Young Oak Drive died May 12, 2000, at Community General Hospital, where she had been a patient for two weeks.
Thomas-Haizlip Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Richard Kearns
High Point - Richard Allan Kearns, 43, of 138 Buena Vista Ave. died May 11, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
Sechrest Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

James Kollock
High Point - James 'Pete' E. Kollock of 2613 Ernest St. died May 10, 2000, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 13, 1938, in Bennettsville, S.C., a son of James and Maggie Kollock. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Jerry Kollock.
Surviving are his mother of Clio, S.C.; his former wife, Savannah Kollock of High Point; three sons, James Galloway of Bennettsville, S.C., Donnie Galloway of Rockingham and James Edward Kollock of Sanford; a daughter, Victoria Covington of McCall, S.C.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four brothers, John H. Kollock and Arthur Kollock of Clio, S.C., Prentiss Kollock of Bennettsville, S.C., and Ronnie Kollock of High Point; seven sisters, Gladys Woods and Aileen David, both of Clio, Evelyn Williams, Carol Young, Rosa Wallace and Nancy Bethea, all of High Point, and Edith Grace of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a very special nephew, Michael Kollock of Clio, S.C.; a very special niece, Sonia Page of McGuire, N.J.; three aunts; one uncle; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and a very special friend, Ruth Galloway of Bennettsville, S.C.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Bennettsville, by the Rev. Gilbert E. Wilson.

Mabel Posey
High Point - Mrs. Mabel Caldwell Posey, 90, of Britthaven of Guilford, Greensboro, died May 11, 2000.
She was born Nov. 6, 1909, in Flat Rock, a daughter of Grover Cleveland and Gertrude Summey Caldwell. She was a member of Green Street Baptist Church. She married William Franklin Posey, who preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by a brother, G.C. Caldwell Jr.
Surviving are six sisters, Mrs. Pattie Sue Lowe and Mrs. Helen Mundy, both of High Point, Mrs. Mary Dean Hayworth of Salisbury, Mrs. Doris Tienken, Mrs. Mildred Till and Mrs. Virginia Charshee, all of Wilmington.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Oakwood Cemetery by the Rev. Gene Phillips.
Memorials may be directed to Green Street Baptist Church, 303 Rotary Drive, High Point, N.C. 27262, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
Sechrest Funeral Home, East Lexington Avenue, is in charge of arrangements.
