Eutha Dillon
High Point - Mrs. Eutha Pearl Snyder Dillon, 92, of Graybriar Nursing Home in Trinity, died June 25, 2000.
She was born March 20, 1908, in Randolph County, a daughter of Arthur D. and Bessie Underwood Snyder. She worked in the children's department at Belk and retired from Tobias Clothing Store. She was a member of Green Street Baptist Church. On Nov. 7, 1925, she married J. Reid Dillon, who preceded her in death Jan. 5, 1971.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Carrie York of High Point; her extended family, Ray and Virginia Wilson of Greensboro, Cathy Fuquay of Kernersville and Cynthia Bessoir of Greensboro.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Green Street Baptist Church Chapel by the Rev. Gene Phillips. Entombment will be in Oakwood Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Sechrest Funeral Home, E. Lexington Avenue.
Memorials may be directed to Green Street Baptist Church, 303 Rotary Drive, High Point, N.C. 27262.

Hazel Garner
Denton - Ms. Hazel Smyth Gardner, 62, died June 23, 2000.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Denton Town Cemetery.
Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, N.C., is in charge of arrangements.

Evelyn Horney
High Point - Mrs. Evelyn Barbee Stafford Horney, 78, of 1201 Fifth St. died June 25, 2000, at the residence of her daughter in Greensboro.
She was born Sept. 17, 1921, in Harrisburg. She was a resident of High Point most of her life. She was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and was a former teacher of the toddler class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Horney and a brother, Robert Stafford.
Surviving are three daughters, Ms. Susan Horney Ferree of Greensboro, Ms. Anne Horney of Bel Air, Md., and Ms. Margot Horney of Ridgewood, N.J.; two sisters, Mrs. Mildred McCachren and Mrs. Elizabeth Oglesby, both of Harrisburg; two brothers, Caldwell Stafford and his wife, Catherine, of Harrisburg and Joseph Stafford of Charlotte; and her sister-in-law, Mozelle Horney of Farmer.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Garland C. Young and the Rev. Adele Byrum Novatney. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Sechrest Funeral Home, E. Lexington Avenue.

Henry Jester
High Point - Henry Way Jester, 82, of 819 Gaines Ave. died at 2:59 a.m. June 26, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born Jan. 15, 1918, in Guilford County, a son of John and Susan Giles Jester. He was a self-employed brick-layer and was of the Baptist faith. On March 27, 1937, he married the former Edna Griffin, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are a son, Raymond Jester and his wife, Violet, of Shallotte; three daughters, Mrs. Bobby (Shelby) Moore and Mrs. Craig (Carol) Tucker, both of High Point, and Ms. Diane Smith of Thomasville; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Bolton and Mrs. Catherine Hutchins, both of High Point and Ms. Edith Gaines of Ramseur; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, by the Rev. Bobby Metters and the Rev. Joe Bare. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Mary Love
Washington, D.C. - Ms. Mary Illean Joretta Love, 66, of the Potomac Center died June 23, 2000, at Arlington Hospital, Va. She was in declining health several years and seriously ill for the past few weeks.
She was born Oct. 22, 1933, in High Point, N.C., a daughter of Annie and Cleotis Love, who both preceded her in death. She was a resident of Arlington, Va., for many years. She completed studies in elementary school and went on to attend William Penn High School.
She was a devoted member of the Catholic faith. Prior to her illness she was active in various church and civil organizations.
Surviving are her brother, Embree C. Love of Vienna, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Barbara L. Fisher and her husband, James, of Columbia, S.C., and Ginger Y. Love of Falls Church, Va.; four nephews; eight great-nephews; a great niece; and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral mass will be noon Wednesday at Christ the King Catholic Church, High Point, by Father Philip Kollithanath. The body will be at Hoover Funeral Home, High Point, until placed in the church prior to the funeral service.

G. McDowell Jr.
Greensboro - George Ernest McDowell Jr., 55, formerly of 7019 Welborn Road, died at 6:37 p.m. June 25, 2000, at Evergreens of Greensboro.
He was born July 21, 1944, in Guilford County, a son of George Ernest and Virginia Hardy McDowell Sr. He was a graduate of High Point Central High School, where he excelled in all sports and attended Gardner Webb College. He was a former High Point policeman and district manager of Village Meat Co. He was a lifelong resident of the High Point/Trinity area, and was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sons, George Darrin McDowell and his wife, B.J., of Trinity and William Chad McDowell of Thomasville; a daughter, Mrs. Donnie (Meredith) Welborn of Trinity; a brother, Steven McDowell and his wife, Faye, of High Point; three sisters, Mrs. Phil (Brenda) Bolick of Greer, S.C. and Mrs. Phyllis Caffey of Snellville, Ga., Mrs. Steve (Laura) Adamson of Ga.; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, by the Rev. Herman C. Beck. Burial will be in Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home and other times at the residence of his brother, 516 Three Oaks Drive, High Point.
Memorials may be directed to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 2211 W. Meadowview Road, Suite 30, Greensboro, N.C 27407.

Mary Marlowe
Madison - Mrs. Mary Ruth Marlowe, 93, of Britthaven of Madison, formerly of Brentwood Street, High Point, died June 25, 2000, at the nursing facility.
She was born Nov. 11, 1906, in High Point, a daughter of R.S. and Bessie Bridges Welborn, who both preceded her in death. She was a homemaker, a lifetime member of Rankin Memorial United Methodist Church and the Good Deed Club of her church.
She married Noah Fred Marlowe, who preceded her in death June 10, 1998. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne Welborn and Paul Welborn.
Surviving are a son, Richard B. Welborn of Stoneville; five grandchildren, Gayland Welborn of Elon College, Melissa Smith of Stoneville, Tracey Welborn of Richmond, Va., Bess Marley of Asheboro and Ritchie Welborn of Burlington; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rankin Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Lee Pollock. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point, is in charge of arrangements.

Jerry Miller
High Point - Jerry Miller, 76, of 2734-C Annmore Circle died June 26, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital where she was a patient for three weeks.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Haizlip Funeral Home.

William Miller
Lexington - William 'Bill' Miller, 56, of 135 Sheppard Point died at 7:30 p.m. June 25, 2000, at Lexington Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Davidson Funeral Home.

Grover Roberts
High Point - Grover Roberts, 80, of 714 Cliffside Avenue died June 25, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Haizlip Funeral Home.

Annie Small
High Point - Mrs. Annie R. Small of 213 Sea Shire Court died June 26, 2000, at High Point Regional Health Systems in High Point.
Arrangements are pending at Horton Funeral Home, Sanford.

Harley Smith
Lexington - Harley 'Snake' Reynolds Smith, 81, of 1748 Welcome-Bethesda Road, died at 7:23 a.m. June 26, 2000, at Lexington Memorial Hospital after declining health of two and a half years.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home-Hickory Tree Chapel. Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Thomas Smith
Asheboro - Thomas Franklin Smith, 84, died June 25, 2000.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Oakhurst Baptist Church. Visitation will be 6-9 tonight at Ridge Funeral Home.

John Swinson
Sophia - John Aaron Swinson, 19, of 3452 Old Flint Hill Rd. died June 24, 2000, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 27, 1981, in Lexington, a son of Jerry Don and Jeannine Frazier Swinson. He was a lifelong resident of Sophia and was of the Baptist faith. He graduated from Randleman High School in 1999. He was preceded in death by his father July 2, 1981.
Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Jeannine F. Morris and Walter Morris of the residence; two uncles, the Rev. Gene Ray Swinson and his wife, Virgie, of Martinez, Ga. and John Morris and his wife, Patricia, of Winston-Salem; and three aunts, Elizabeth Southern and her husband, William, and Betty Wagner and her husband, James, all of Sophia, and Hazel Crowson of Trinity.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, by the Rev. Gary Hill. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Bertha Tysinger
Thomasville - Mrs. Bertha Alice Gordon Tysinger, 89, of Britthaven of Davidson, formerly of Liberty Drive, died June 26, 2000, at Community General Hospital.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home.

Ermine Ward
Thomasville - Ermine Elwood Ward, 82, of 707 Unity St. died at 3:37 p.m. June 25, 2000, at Community General Hospital.
He was born March 6, 1918, in Davidson County, a son of Clarence V. and Alice Rebecca Myers Ward and he was a lifelong resident of Davidson County. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II and was a lifetime member of VFW Post 2756. He was a member of Pine Woods United Methodist Church and the Charles Hunt Victory Class. He retired from Kayby Hosiery Mill. On Oct. 12, 1946, he married Miss Kathleen Koontz, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Michael (Becky) Everhart and Ms. Lori Hege, both of Thomasville; a sister, Mrs. Jessie Yates of Thomasville; a granddaughter, Mrs. Steven (Susan) Disher of Mocksville.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Pine Woods United Methodist Church by the Rev. William Dingus. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home until the hour of service. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
Memorials may be directed to Pine Woods United Methodist Church, 1000 Salem St., Thomasville, N.C. 27360.
