Wanda Harris
Greensboro - Mrs. Wanda Hunt Harris, 47, of 4931 Hackamore Road died June 20, 2000, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.
She was born Nov. 29, 1952, in Thomasville, a daughter of Brooks and Colleen Beck Hunt. She was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a teacher. She was a pre-school teacher at First Baptist Church, taught at Archdale-Trinity Middle School and was a third-grade teacher at Claxton Elementary School. She was an active member of Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school and vacation Bible school teacher. She was a member of the Round Table Sunday School Class, taught Mid-High Bible Study and was a member of the choir. She was preceded in death by her mother in 1986.
Surviving are her husband, J. Lynn Harris of the residence; two children, Sarah Lindsay Harris and Laurie Kate Harris, both of the residence; her father, Brooks L. Hunt, and his wife, Linda, of Wallburg; a sister, Rhonda Hunt Hinson and her husband, Jim, of High Point; a stepsister, Tammy Coble of Greensboro; a stepbrother, Chris Adams of Wilmington; her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Linnie I. Beck; and four nieces, Blair VanLandingham and Anna VanLandingham, both of High Point and Natalie Harris and Ellen Harris, both of Greensboro.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Westminister Gardens. Visitation will be at the residence.
Memorials may be directed to Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church, Children's and Youth Guidance Fund, 2600 Pisgah Church Road, Greensboro, N.C. 27408.

Wesley Mills
High Point - Wesley Eugene Mills, 78, of High Point died June 21, 2000, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation for the Triad.
He was born Feb. 22, 1922, in Randolph County, a son of Nathan W. and Fleta Mae Hedgecock Mills. He was a lifelong resident of the High Point area and was of the Baptist faith. He was a carpenter and a mechanic by trade. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II. On Feb. 1, 1947, he married the former Mamie Louise Cross, who preceded him in death Feb. 6, 1981.
Surviving are three sons, Russell Franklin Mills and his wife, Donna, of High Point, Phillip Wayne Mills of High Point and Tim Mills and his wife, Rhonda, of Thomasville; four daughters, Mrs. Danny (Cyndi) Carmichael of Archdale, Mrs. Dale (Donna) Yates of Thomasville, Mrs. Mark (Janice) Hedgecock of High Point and Mrs. Harold (Amy) Snider of Archdale; 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Opal Cox of High Point and Mrs. Delia Richko of Jerome, Pa.; and two brothers, Cletus Mills of Randleman and Billy Mills of Thomasville.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Floral Garden Park Cemetery by the Rev. John Bishop. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, and other times at the residence of Donna Yates, 266 McKinney Lane, Thomasville.

Gregory Weston
High Point - Gregory Scott Weston, 34, of 1413 Hampstead Drive, died June 21, 2000, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
He was born Nov. 25, 1965, in High Point, a son of Linda L. Weston. He was a truck driver with Rose Furniture Co. and was of the Methodist faith. He attended Williams Memorial CME Church the majority of his life. He attended High Point public schools and graduated from the Washington, D.C., public school system. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Moses Weston.
Surviving are his mother, Linda Weston Harris and his stepfather, Henry 'Sam' Harris; a brother, Douglas Morgan of San Diego four sisters, Tami Green and Tracie Kassim and her husband, Jamiu, all of High Point, Lori Williams and her husband, Ernest, of Cinton, Md., and Celeste Morgan of Hyattsville, Md.; his grandmother, Annie R. Weston of High Point; a loving aunt, Geraldine Phifer of High Point; a niece; five nephews; a long time companion, Jodie Deane; three special friends, Ada and Charles Walker, and LaToya Simmons; and a host of relatives and friends.
Memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Hargett-Gilmore Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Samuel C. Mooring. Visitation will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home and other times at the residence.

Ollie Craddock
High Point - Ollie Foster 'Ollie B' Craddock, 68, of 326 Player Drive died June 21, 2000, at his residence.
S.E. Thomas Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Gertrude Craver
Thomasville - Mrs. Gertrude Shuler Craver, 85, of 223 N.C. 109 died June 21, 2000, at Britthaven of Davidson.
Arrangements are incomplete at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home.

Dorothy Davis
Asheboro - Mrs. Dorothy Coleene Honney Davis, 60, died June 21, 2000.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 6-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Michael Donithan
Butner - Michael Ray Donithan, 37, died June 21, 2000, at University of North Carolina Hospital in Chapel Hill.
He was born July 7, 1962, in Lee County, a son of Raymond Dillard and Barbara Jolly Donithan.
Surviving are his parents of High Point; a brother and sister-in-law, Mitchell Lynn and Kelly Donithan of High Point; a sister, Belinda Faye Donithan of High Point; four nieces; and one nephews.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point, by the Rev. Bobby Metters and the Rev. Willis Herman. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and other times at the residence of his parents, 314 Montlieu Ave.

Gussie Harris
Thomasville - Mrs. Gussie Niles Harris, 98, of 412 High St. died June 20, 2000, at Community General Hospital after several months of declining health.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Brown New Calvary Baptist Church. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.

Floyd Owens
Lady Lake - Rev. Floyd Walter Owens, 89, died June 19, 2000.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

John Smith
Greensboro - John L. Smith, 63, of 3514 Wilsonwood Road died June 20, 2000, at his residence.
He was born in Greensboro, a son of Clyde and Margaret Johnson Smith, who both preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Bessemer High School, Guilford College and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and retired as supervisor of Adult Protective Services of Guilford County Department of Social Services in 1998, after 34 years of service. He served eight years with the North Carolina National Guard. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Surviving are his wife, Michele G. Smith of the residence; a son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Kim Smith of Greensboro; stepsons, Brooks and Garrett Williams of the residence; a brother, Clyde Smith Jr. of Raleigh; and a grandson, Connor Smith.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel of Forbis & Dick N. Elm Street Funeral Home. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Ruth Welch
High Point - Mrs. Ruth Hutchins Welch, 82, of 302 Ridgecrest Drive died June 20, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born Nov. 16, 1917, in Columbia, S.C., a daughter of Jerome N. and Ella Nora Everhart Hutchins. She was a resident of High Point the majority of her life. She retired from Arnold Jones Oil Co. with 20 years of service. She was a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church, a member of the Evening Circle of the United Methodist Women and a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class. She served as a volunteer with High Point Regional Hospital and the American Red Cross for many years. She was a member of American Business Women's Association, Furniture Capital chapter, and was elected 'Woman of the Year 2000.' She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #106. She Married Robert C. Welch Sr. May, 1938, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are two sons, Robert C. Welch Jr. and his wife, Chloe, of Bowling Green, Ky., and Thomas J. Welch and his wife, Diane, of High Point; two sisters, Viola Briggs of Glen Burnie, Md., and Louise Cornwell and her husband, Bob, of Cayce, S.C.; a brother, Willard 'Bill' Hutchins and his wife, Iris, of High Point; three grandchildren, Robert C. 'Trip' Welch III and Jason T. Welch, both of High Point, and Jennifer D. Welch of Brooklyn, N.Y.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Lebanon United Methodist Church by the Rev. Carol Williams-Gilbert. Entombment will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point.
Memorials may be directed to the Memorial Fund, Lebanon United Methodist Church, 237 Idol St., High Point, N.C. 27262.
