Edwin Reece
Thomasville - Edwin E. Reece, 78, of 105 Lakeview Drive East died July 4, 2000, at Community General Hospital.
He was born Sept. 7, 1921, in Davidson County, a son of Hobert and Glennie Robbins Reece. He was a lifelong resident of Davidson County. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and served in Europe. He was a member of Pinewoods United Methodist Church and had retired from J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home. He was a former member of the Thomasville Civitan Club. He was preceded in death by a brother, Collidge F. Reece.
On Oct. 18, 1947, he was married to Miss Mary Pressley, who survives of the home.
Also surviving is one son, Mark Reece and his wife, Sandy, of Thomasville; two brothers, Lonnie P. Reece of Lexington and Norman 'Nick' Reece of High Point; and two grandsons, Craig Hill and Erik Hill.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel by Rev. James K. Sanders, Rev. Wilbur A. Jarrett and Rev. Curtis Patterson. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at the funeral home, and other times at the residence.

Margaret Rouse
Lexington - Mrs. Margaret Crawford Rouse, 70, of Maxwell Drive and formerly of Boaze Road, died at 9 p.m. July 3, 2000.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Mount Carmel Freewill Baptist Church. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 tonight at Davidson Funeral Home.

Leon Rutherford
Thomasville - Leon 'Pete' Roland Rutherford, 63, of 711 Diana Drive died July 3, 2000, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 17, 1936, in Davidson County, a son of Floyd B. and Dorothy Mae Deaton Rutherford. He had been a resident of this area the greater part of his life.
He moved to Elizabeth City in 1981 to take the position of plant manager for IXL Furniture in Elizabeth City. He returned to the Thomasville area in 1991. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Surviving is his wife, Jane Currin Rutherford, of the home; two sons, Michael Gray Rutherford and Patrick Roland Rutherford and his wife, Becky, all of Thomasville; one stepdaughter, Amy Lynn Talley of Thomasville; his stepfather, Jones F. Kennedy of Thomasville; two sisters, Mrs. Patricia Shima and her husband, Tom, of Cleveland, and Mrs. Priscilla Swaim of Thomasville; two brothers, George R. Rutherford of Biloxi, Miss., and Charles 'Cecil' Rutherford of Thomasville; one grandson, Airman First Class Larry J. Russell of Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska; four nephews; and eight nieces.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Dorothy Deaton Kennedy, and two brothers, Beryl F. Rutherford and James H. Rutherford.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery by the Rev. David Best. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, and other times at the home.

Dewey Triplett
Lenoir - Dewey Triplett, 78, of Wakefield Drive died July 4, 2000, at Caldwell County Hospice.
He was born April 13, 1922, in Wilkes County, a son of George Washington and Fannie Elizabeth McNeil Triplett. He was a retired furniture worker and a member of East Flat Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran in World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Dana, Howard and Hugh Triplett; and one sister, Pearl T. Matherly.
He was married to Cleo Story Triplett, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are one son, Travis D. Triplett of Granite Falls; two daughters, Ms. Teresa T. Throneburg of High Point and Mrs. Tilda Harris, and her husband, Joe, of Lenoir; two brothers, Buel Triplett of Clemmons and Chancey Triplett of Ferguson; two sisters, Faye T. Walsh of Ferguson and Virginia T. Dula of Lenoir; and three grandchildren, Jacob, Jessica and Josiah Triplett, all of Granite Falls.
Funeral will be 4 p.m. today at East Flat Baptist Church by Dr. Claude B. Suddreth, Rev. John Price and Travis D. Triplett. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Park. Visitation will be 3-4 p.m. today at the church.
Pallbearers will be Jacob E. Triplett, Josiah W. Triplett, Steve Dula, Bobby Caudle Sr., Clarence Coffey and Robin McLean. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Clark, Jerry Cloer, Bobby Triplett, Mack Chandler, Clint Vines, Levine Hendrix, Banks Suddreth, Bobby Caudle Jr. and George Dula.
Memorials may be directed to Caldwell County Hospice, 902 Kirkwood St., Lenoir, N.C. 28645.

Donnie Tyndall
Archdale - Donnie McCoy Tyndall, of 6044 Poole Road died July 3, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital after a short illness.
He was born in Sampson County, a son of John A. and Annie Belle Baggett Tyndall, both whom preceded him in death. He had been a resident of the Archdale vicinity for the past 50 years. He retired from Alma Desk Co. and was the former owner and operator of Tyndall Bargain Shop. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He was a member of Uwharrie Baptist Church, where he served as an usher. On February 20, 1979, he married Sylvia Maynard, who survives of the residence.
Surviving are four daughters, Anita McManaway and her husband, Albert, of High Point; Kimberly Worrells of Greensboro; Mary Alexander and Debra Ballard of Georgia; five sons, Michael Worrells of Thomasville, Tony Tyndall of Gainesville, Ga., Danny Tyndall, Jerry Tyndall and Michael Tyndall of Georgia; two sisters, Mrs. Fannie Taylor and Mrs. Merlene Roark of High Point; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Uwharrie Baptist Church by the Rev. Doug Byrd and the Rev. Gary Brown. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.
Pallbearers will be Terry Taylor, Carly Tanner, R.C. Tyndall, Raymond Tyndall, Ricky Brown and Larry Taylor.
Memorials may be directed to Uwharrie Baptist Church, 5891 Uwharrie Road, Archdale, N.C. 27263.

Elese Ward
Asheboro - Ms. Mary Elese Lee Ward, 80, died July 3, 2000.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Mary Belton
Trinity - Mrs. Mary Lendon Belton, 83, of 5660 Rockford Drive died July 4, 2000.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Haizlip Funeral Home.

Frances Bowers
Sophia - Mrs. Frances Farlow Bowers, 79, of 2057 Beckerdite Road died July 5, 2000, after a short illness.
She was born Sept. 18, 1920, in Randolph County, a daughter of J. Colbert and Ellie Jones Farlow. She was a homemaker and a resident of Sophia most of her life. She was a graduate of Randleman High School, attended Appalachian State University and was a member of Jamestown Friends Meeting. She married William Ford Bowers, who survives of the residence. She was preceded in death by a sister, Johnsie F. Chappell.
Also surviving are a brother, J. Binford Farlow of Greensboro; 14 nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday in Marlboro Friends Meeting Cemetery. Visitation will be after the service at Marlboro Friends Family Life Center.
Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, is in charge of arrangements.

Johanna Collins
Lexington - Johanna Elaine Collins, 2-month-old infant of Rufus Gene Jr. and Maria Collins, of 905 W. 5th Ave. died July 4, 2000.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Lexington City Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Piedmont Funeral Home.

Virginia Disque
Jamestown - Mrs. Virginia Davis Disque, 76, of 214 Buttercup Drive died July 5, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born Sept. 15, 1923, in Charlottesville, Va., a daughter of Bruce and Olive Marshall Davis. She was a homemaker and a resident of Jamestown since 1964. She was a member of Jamestown Presbyterian Church. On July 23, 1949, she married William Disque, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Jan Kiefer of Stuart, Fla., and Dr. Carol Disque of Greensboro; a sister, Mrs. Henrietta Bray of Suffolk, Va.; and a brother, R.M. Davis of Charlottesville.
Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery by the Rev. Sam Henderson. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Jamestown Presbyterian Church.
Memorials may be directed to American Diabetes Association, 1820 East 7th St., Charlotte, N.C. 28204.

Mattie Eades
Elon College - Mrs. Mattie Eva Goss Whitt Eades, 100, formerly of 1422 Brentwood St., High Point, died July 3, 2000, at Alamance Health Care in Burlington after three months of declining health.
She was born in Person County, a daughter of John R. and Bera Anna Adcock Goss, who both preceded her in death. She married Ernest Whitt, who preceded her in death. She later married Roscoe Eades, who also preceded her in death. She retired from Silver Knit Hosiery Mill in High Point, and was a member of Green Street Baptist Church, High Point. She also was preceded in death by two stepdaughters, Mrs. Reba Jean Strickland and Mrs. Shirley Paul; three sisters, Mrs. Lois Bullock, Mrs. Pearl Blalock and Mrs. Blanche Swaringen; and three brothers, Pender Goss, Edward Goss and Dexter Goss.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Louise Mitchell of Memphis, Tenn., and Mrs. Frederick (Pat) Jones of Elon College; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Willie (Ceclia) Kidd and Mrs. J.C. (Betty) Farlow, both of Randleman; three grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; 12 stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Gladys Lynn of Durham.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Maplewood Cemetery, Durham, by the Rev. Robert Edsell, retired Lutheran minister. The body will be at Lowe Funeral Home until the hour of service. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and other times at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Patricia 'Pat' Jones, 412 Courtland Drive.

Donald Loving
High Point - Donald Jerry Loving, 61, went home to be with the Lord at 3:36 a.m. July 5, 2000.
He was born June 27, 1939, in Guilford County, a son of William Norris and Lucille Frazier Loving. He was a lifelong resident of High Point and was a member of Springfield Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Men's Open Bible Class. He was formerly employed with Floral Garden Park Cemetery as a field boss and served in the U.S. Army National Guard. On Oct. 7, 1960, he married the former Rosella Dobbs, who survives of the residence. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Also surviving are a son Jerry James Loving and his wife, Vicki, of High Point; four grandchildren, Jerry James Loving Jr., of New Jersey, Toni Lynn Loving and Taylor Ann Loving, both of High Point and Falon Dawn Abbassi of Winston-Salem; two brothers, the Rev. Bobby Lee Loving and his wife, Catherine, of High Point and William Norris Loving Jr. and his wife, Amanda, of High Point; two special nieces, Terri Mabe and Sherry Willard; and a dear devoted friend until the end, Danny Roberson.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Springfield Baptist Church by the Rev. Bobby Lee Loving. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point, and other times at the residence, 203 Druid St.

Lula Robbins
High Point - Mrs. Lula F. Robbins, 82, died July 5, 2000, at High Point Care Center following a five-year illness.
She was born June 28, 1918, in New Castle, Ky., a daughter of Robert and Edith Foree. She lived in Thomasville prior to moving to High Point in 1985. She was a loving mother and active member of her community. She was a dedicated member of Memorial United Methodist Church, Thomasville, for 25 years. She served as president of the United Methodist Women, was a very active participant in Bible studies and was an involved lay leader with the church. She was a volunteer with Community General Hospital and a member of the board of Maryfield Inc. She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Robbins in September 1995, after a long-term illness.
Surviving are a daughter, Betty Robbins of High Point; a son, William C. Robbins III and his wife, Nancy, of Mandeville, La.; a grandson, William C. Robbins IV; a great-grandson; William C. Robbins V; and a great-granddaughter, Lauren Dana Robbins; a brother, William N. Foree of Atlanta; and nephew, Robert Owens of Charlotte.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point, by the Rev. Kyles Wallace. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Thomasville. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and other times at the residence of a daughter, 209-D N. Rotary Drive.
Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association-Carolina Piedmont chapter, 3420 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, N.C. 28215; Memorial United Methodist Church, 101 Randolph St., Thomasville, N.C. 27360 or to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, N.C. 27262.

James Steele Sr.
Thomasville - James Raymond Steele Sr., 60, of 900 Doak St. died July 4, 2000, at Community General Hospital.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Central United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 2 p.m. Friday at the church.
