Alton Easterling, 63, of 1102 Camden Ave. died Aug. 2, 2000.
He was a member and a usher of First Emmanuel Baptist Church.
He is survived by three children, Alton Jr., and Dwayne of High Point, and Fonda Barbee of Monroe; three grandchildren, Devon, Tangie and Deidre; six brothers, Barnes Wilbur, Edgar Jr. and Robert of Mt. Vernon, N.Y., Carl and Raymond of High Point; and Thomas Easterling of Easley, S.C.; 11 sisters, Theresa Dunlap, Clara Leake, Rose Benjamin, Cecelia Scott, Cathy Marques and Mamie Easterling of Mt. Vernon, Ophelia Easterling of New Rochelle, N.Y., Flossie Frost of Greensboro, Sara Easterling of High Point, Patricia McDonald of Laurinburg and Shirley Easterling of Maxton; and two uncles, Cortez and Luther.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at First Emmanuel Baptist Church by the Rev. Lawrence Curtis. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the church and other times at the residence.
Hoover's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ralph Glascock
Archdale
Ralph Lane Glascock, 67, of 107 Lockhart St. died Aug. 3, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born Sept. 18, 1932, in Halifax County, Va., a son of Robert W. and Ruby Tuck Glascock. He was a resident of Archdale for the past 35 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean conflict and was a self-employed upholsterer. He was a member of Archdale United Methodist Church. On Oct. 16, 1955, he married Angie Minter Glascock, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are two daughters, Ms. Valerie G. Glascock of Charlotte and Mrs. Karen Glascock Harris and her husband, William, of Trinity; two sons, Russell Lane Glascock and his wife, Linn, of Thomasville, and Bo Glascock and his wife, Pam, of Charlotte; three sisters, Mrs. Linda Miller of Greensboro, Mrs. Sandi Sutton of Pleasant Garden and Mrs. Judi Mackey of Greensboro; and two brothers, Sam Glascock of Americus, Ga., and Bob Glascock of Virgilina, Va.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Archdale United Methodist Church by the Rev. Mary John Dye and the Rev. Harold Shives. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Thomasville. The body will be at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, 4-A Oak Branch Drive, Greensboro, N.C. 27407 or to the American Heart Association, 202 Centreport Drive, Greensboro, N.C. 27409.

Robert House Jr.
Lexington
Robert Lindsey House Jr., 51, of Helen Drive died at 9:35 a.m. Aug. 2, 2000, at Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury after a sudden illness.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church by Father Al Gondek. Visitation will be at the residence.
Davidson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

James Lanier
Lexington
James Nathaniel Lanier, 99, of 3763 Old U.S. 52 died Aug. 3, 2000.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Beulah United Church of Christ. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 tonight at Piedmont Funeral Home.

Kay Leonard
Lexington
Ms. Kay Hobbs Leonard, 54, of 422 Country Club Blvd. died Aug. 3, 2000.
Memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Timberlake Chapel at Piedmont Funeral Home. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Lila McDaniel
High Point
Mrs. Lila Mae Garner McDaniel, 90, of 169 Richard Byerly Road died Aug. 3, 2000, at High Point Care Center.
She was born Aug. 24, 1909, in Randolph County, a daughter, one of ten children, of David Lee and Myrtle Kinney Garner of Davidson County. She was an active member of Spring Hill United Methodist Church and lived in the W. Lexington Extension area most of her adult life. She retired from Kiddie Tot Hosiery Mill in High Point. On Dec. 20, 1924, she married Brady Andrew McDaniel, who preceded her in death in September of 1983. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Frieda Fields, Frankie Terrell, Johnsie Warren and Jessie Griffin; and three brothers, Albert Reid, Richard Garner and Austin Garner.
Surviving are a son, Charles Brady McDaniel and his wife, Helen, of the residence; a sister, Mrs. J.D. (Wanza) Reece of Kernersville; a brother, David (Junior) Garner and his wife, Evelyn, of High Point; a granddaughter, Mrs. Billy (Debbie) Pullum of Winston-Salem; two grandsons, Howard B. (Rick) McDaniel and his wife, Lyn, of Russell, Pa., and Steven A. McDaniel and his wife, Jan, of Athens, Ohio; two great-grandsons, Chase and Travis Pullum of Winston-Salem; two great-granddaughters, Charisa and Shannon McDaniel of Dayton, Ohio; two great-great-grandsons, Chase and Noah McDaniel, both of Dayton; a stepgranddaughter, Mrs. Jeffery (Judy) Johnson of Thomasville; three stepgrandsons, Ronnie Justice and his wife, Bonnie, of Thomasville, Dannie Justice and his wife, Rebecca, of Lexington and Barrie Justice and his wife, Gayle, of High Point; two stepgreat-granddaughters, Janice Justice of High Point and Debora Carlton of Winston-Salem; a stepgreat-great-granddaughter, Trish Carlton of Winston-Salem; and two stepgreat-great-grandsons, Dannie Ryan Justice of Winston-Salem and Brandon Murphy of Thomasville.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Spring Hill United Methodist Church by the Rev. Hubert Brown and the Rev. Chuck Garner. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, Thomasville, until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
Memorials may be directed to Spring Hill United Methodist Church, 240 Spring Hill Church Road, High Point, N.C. 27262.

Gladys McLeod

Mrs. Gladys Freeman McLeod, 68, died Aug. 3, 2000.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Center Cross Baptist Church. Visitation will be tonight at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro.

LaVerne Rash
Greensboro
Mrs. LaVerne S. Rash, 69, of 2001 Saddlegate Court died Aug. 2, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was a native of southern Illinois and a former employee of Harris Teeter on High Point Road.
Surviving are her husband, George, of 49 years; three sisters, Colleen Campe of Illinois, Darlene Howell of Georgia and Harriett Little of Illinois; a brother, Robert McCallister of Arizona; three daughters, Brenda Lall of Kansas, Gloria Ure of Florida and Melanie McNamara of High Point; seven grandchildren; and her dear friend, Jean Pocklington.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, High Point.

John Ward

John Richard 'Pete' Ward, 55, of 104 Horniblow Point Road died Aug. 2, 2000.
Surviving is a son Paul Ward of Thomasville.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church, Hertford.

Jose Alvarez
High Point
Jose M. 'Pepe' Alvarez, 89, of 402 Vedra Court died Aug. 5, 2000, at his residence. He was born Dec. 18, 1910, in Havana, Cuba, a son of Rufino and Teresa Romanach de Alvarez. He had been a resident of High Point for the past 39 years and was a freelance furniture designer, having retired in 1990. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. On July 18, 1940, he was married to the former Ofelia Viamonte, who survives of the home. Also surviving are a daughter, Patricia Boyles of Rock Hill, S.C.; a son, Joseph A. Alvarez Sr. and his wife, Sarah Thornett, of Liberty; three grandsons, Erik Smith of Hilton Head, S.C., Michael Hayes of Rock Hill, S.C., Joe A. Alvarez of Greenville; a granddaughter, Rhea Alvarez; a brother, Rufino Alvarez and his wife, Marta, of the Republic of Panama; and a sister-in-law, Raquel Viamonte of Miami. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said 11 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church by Father Joseph C. Zuschmidt, O.S.F.S. A prayer service will be held 7 tonight followed by visitation at 8:30 at Sechrest Funeral Service on E. Lexington Avenue. Memorials may be directed to Immaculate Heart of Mary School or Church, 605 Barbee Ave., High Point, N.C. 27262; or to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, N.C. 27262.

Elijah 'Eli' Randolph Fuller, infant son of Jason Randolph and Kelly Johnson Fuller of N.C. 64 West, died Aug. 4, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital. The maternal grandparents are Ted and Jean Johnson of Denton; maternal great-grandparents, Arlene Hutchens and the late John D. Hutchens of High Point; paternal grandparents are Joretta Fuller of Thomasville and Jim Fuller of Pfafftown. Graveside service will be 4 p.m. Monday in Rich Fork Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. J. Byron Barker. J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Jimmy Ray Kearns, 60, died Aug. 4, 2000. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

William Jones
High Point
William 'Babe' Jones, 53, of 1506-A Leonard Ave. died Aug. 4, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital. He was a son of Buster and Bessie Jones. He was educated at William Penn High School and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Leo Bryant. Surviving are two sisters, Dorothy Lindsay and her husband, Herbert, Bessie McInnis and her husband, Thomas, all of High Point; a friend, Edith Robinson of High Point; three nephews, James Lindsay, Antonio McInnis and Ian McInnis, all of High Point; a niece, Cheryl McInnis of High Point; six aunts, one uncle; one sister-in-law; and a host of cousins and friends. Funeral will be 4 p.m. Monday at Hargett-Gilmore Memorial Chapel by the Rev. Roy Fitzgerald. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be 3:30 to 4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and other times at the residence.

Margaret McCabe

Mrs. Margaret McCabe, 79, died Aug. 4, 2000, at Graybrier Nursing and Retirement Center. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She married Trevor McCabe, who preceded her in death in June 1996. Surviving are her daughter, Carolyn Ray of Archdale; her son, Gregory McCabe of Matthews; two grandsons, Brian and Michael Hughes; five stepgrandchildren, Stephanie Ray, Jenny Ray, Jeff, Penny and Holli McDonald; and two sisters, Katherine Rector and Marie Sartor, both of Texas. Visitation will be 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. today in the foyer of Green Street Baptist Church. Memorial service will be 3:30 p.m. today at Green Street Baptist Church Chapel. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Jones Funeral Home, 210 Hargett St., Jacksonville, N.C. Burial will be in Onslow Memorial Park Cemetery, Jacksonville.
