Mrs. Neva Asia Neal Miller, 94, of 1403 McGuinn Drive, died Aug. 20, 2000 at Evergreens Inc. She was born Nov. 5, 1905, in Stokes County, the daughter of Joseph Neal and Florence Allen Neal. She was retired from Peggy Ann Shop and was a member of Emerywood Baptist Church. On Dec. 4, 1954, she married Lewis Vergil Miller who preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 1988. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Melba McMahon of High Point; one son, Donald Brown of Thomasville; one brother, Dempsy Neal of Fayetteville; two grandchildren, Mrs. Ashely Fisher and Jeff Brown; four great-grandchildren, Colton Fisher, Grant Fisher, Asia Brown and Blake Brown. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Emerywood Baptist by Dr. James A Baucom. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The body will remain at Sechrest Funeral Home on E. Lexington Avenue until placed in the church. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Emerywood Baptist Church, 1300 Country Club Drive, High Point N.C. 27262.

Carolyn Sue Richardson Tucker, 59, died Aug. 20, 2000. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at Ridge Funeral Home.

George Webster

George Daniel Webster, 83, died Aug. 19, 2000, in Lexington Health Care after several months of illness. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Beck's United Church of Christ. Visitation will be 6:30-8 tonight at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington and other times at the home.

Alonzy Paul Craver, 62, of 1427 Shady Grove Church Road died Aug. 19, 2000.
There will be no funeral service.
Family Funeral Care, Thomasville, is in charge of arrangements.

David Owen
Thomasville
David 'Butch' Ralph Owen, 75, of 109 Virginia Drive died Aug. 20, 2000, at Community General Hospital.
He was born Oct. 16, 1924, in Davidson County, a son of George Albert and Bessie Leatha Spainhour Owen, who both preceded him in death. He was owner and operator of Owen's Sanding Shop. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II. He was a member of Thomasville Friends Church. On Oct. 23, 1965, he married Maxine Shields, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are four daughters, Ms. Angela Owen and Mrs. Kelly (Judy) Davis, both of Thomasville, Mrs. Earl (Karen) Jones and Mrs. Ronnie (Janet) Hooper, both of Trinity; three sons, David Owen Jr. of Thomasville, Jerry Pendleton of Bessemer City and Donnie Pendleton of Lincolnton; a brother, Paul Owen of Thomasville; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel by the Rev. Barney L. Pierce and the Rev. G.K. Andrews. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
Memorials may be directed to Thomasville Friends Church, 369 Old Raleigh Road, Thomasville, N.C. 27360 or to Memorial Park Wesleyan Church, 102 Leonard St., Thomasville, N.C. 27360.

Morgan Samples

Morgan Leigh Samples of Anthony Drive, infant of Garry Lynn Samples and Jennipher Renee Staten died Aug. 21, 2000, at Forsyth Medical Center.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday after the service.
Davidson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Cleelin 'Shorty' Taylor, 74, of Brightmore Nursing Home and Brookstone Nursing Home, formerly of Grimes School Apartments, died at 1:10 p.m. Aug. 21, 2000, at Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Ora Varner

Mrs. Ora Fritts Varner, 93, of 1394 Old N.C. 109 died Aug. 21, 2000, at Community General Hospital.
She was born Feb. 12, 1907, in Davidson County, a daughter of Hiram Monroe and Estelle Younts Fritts. She was a member of Clarksbury United Methodist Church and the Emma Lambeth Sunday School Class. On Oct. 13, 1923, she married Ernest Elwood Varner, who preceded her in death July 11, 1981. She also was preceded in death by two grandchildren, a brother and two sisters.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Libby Markham and her husband, Lea, of Lexington; five sons, Hubert L. 'Jack' Varner and his wife, Landa, Billy R. Varner and his wife, Peggy, and Lowell 'Ike' Varner and his wife, Peggy, all of Lexington, E. Don Varner Sr. and his wife, Olean, of High Point and Buddy Varner and his wife, Barbara, of Thomasville; 21 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Clarksbury United Methodist Church by the Rev. C. Darrin Everhart and the Rev. Hervey Yates. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be at Family Funeral Care, 18 Randolph St., Thomasville, until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
Memorials may be directed to Clarksbury United Methodist Church, Cemetery Fund, 639 Clarksbury Church Road, Thomasville, N.C. 27360.

Paul Allison Beck, 70, formerly of Fairview Drive, died Aug. 21, 2000.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Lexington City Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 tonight at Piedmont Funeral Home.

Jerry Leon Brady, 72, of 9700 Kings Road, died Aug. 18, 2000, at Florida Hospital South, Orlando, Fla.
He was born Nov. 9, 1947, in Guilford County, a son of Moses Lee Brady and Hazel Brady Love. He retired from Continental Can Financial Services as an auditor. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Albany, Ga. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Brady, Edgar Brady and Bobby Brady; and two sisters, Leta Brady Westmoreland and Ezlee Brady Pinnix.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Mary Colleen Brady, of the residence; a daughter, Deborah Colleen McCorkle; a son, Stephen G. Brady; two sisters, Vera Brady Meadows and Neva Hilliard; a brother, James O. 'Mutt' Brady; three grandchildren, Teri Brady Ellerbe, Ashley Colleen McCorkle and Gregg McCorkle; and two great-grandchildren, Brandon Ellerbe and Jessica Ellerbe.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday by the Rev. Jack Morris in Floral Garden Park Cemetery, Jamestown, N.C. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Service, 300 W. Wendover Ave, Greensboro, N.C., and other times at the residence of his brother, 4316 Holand Road, Greensboro.
Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.

Mrs. Charlotte Mae Reece Cope, 74, of 8069 Old Salisbury Road died Aug. 21, 2000.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Greer's Chapel United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at Piedmont Funeral Home.

Mrs. Dorothy Tuttle Eller, 82, died Aug. 22, 2000, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
She was born Dec. 22, 1917, in Davidson County, a daughter of Franklin Zebedee and Mary Payne Wilson, who both preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Wallburg High School and a member of Midway United Methodist Church. She retired from Thalheimers Department Store. She was preceded in death by her husband and father of her children, Lemer Tuttle. She later married Kermit Eller, who also preceded her in death.
Surviving are her five daughters, Phyllis T. Merrel and her husband, Jack, of Fletcher, Polly T. Smith and her husband, Grayson of Winston-Salem, Brenda T. Matthews of Midway, Louise T. Biesecker, of Thomasville and Kathy T. Berrier and her husband, Russell, of Thomasville; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Lucille W. Craver of Midway; and two sisters-in-law, Alpha Wilson and Ada Wilson, both of Winston-Salem.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Midway United Methodist Church by the Rev. Harry Sellers and the Rev. Wade Childers. Burial will be in Bethany United Church of Christ Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at Foster Funeral Home.
Memorials may be directed to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27103.

Sanford Hamer
Greensboro
Sanford Stevens Hamer, 74, of 2505 Liberty Road went to be with the Lord Aug. 21, 2000, at Moses H. Cone Hospital after a long illness.
He was born Dec. 17, 1925, in Hinton, W.Va., a son of Roxton Leland and Clara Faye Stevens Hamer. He retired from AT&T in Greensboro and Winston-Salem with 34 years of service. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, having served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a member of Cloverdale Baptist Church in High Point, where he previously served as a deacon. On Sept. 8, 1944, he married the former Mildred Lilly, who survives of the residence.
He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his son, Sanford Stevens Hamer Jr. and his sister, Dorothy Horney.
Also surviving are two daughters, Linda H. Cook and her husband, Eric, and Nancy H. Cook and her husband, Mitchell, all of Greensboro; a grandson; and five stepgrandchildren.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday in Floral Garden Park Cemetery by the Rev. Ralph E. Pruitt. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Sechrest Funeral Service, Archdale, and other times at the residence.

Ruth Lambeth

Mrs. Ruby Lee Elliott Lambeth, 92, of N. Main Street died Aug. 22, 2000, at Graybrier Nursing and Retirement Center.
She was born Jan. 7, 1908, in Montgomery County, a daughter of James Dockery and Margaret Hearne Elliott. She was a resident of Archdale the majority of her life. She was a 1927 graduate of Trinity High School and a homemaker. She had been a member of Archdale United Methodist Church since 1958, and a member of the Susanna Wesley Sunday School Class for many years. She was a previous member of Hopewell United Methodist Church, where she taught children's Sunday school classes. She married Julius Marvin Lambeth, who preceded her in death, Sept. 8, 1958. She also was preceded in death by her son, Chauncey Vernon Lambeth, who preceded her in death in 1951, while serving in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda Orr and her husband, Kenneth, and Margaret Stephenson, all of Archdale; three sons, Julius Lambeth of Archdale, James Lambeth and his wife, Betty, and Harold Lambeth and his wife, Vicki, all of Trinity; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Archdale United Methodist Church by the Rev. Mary John Dye and the Rev. Harold Shives. Committal service will be in Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Chris J. Bennett. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale.
Memorials may be directed to Archdale United Methodist Church, Building Fund, 11543 N. Main St., Archdale, N.C. 27263 or to Hopewell United Methodist Church, Building Fund, 4540 Hopewell Church Road, Trinity, N.C. 27370.
