Pauline Robbins Koubek, 84, formerly of Kernersville, died Aug. 26, 2000, at Golden Age Nursing Home after several years of declining health.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Monday in Lexington Chapel at Davidson Funeral Home.
Davidson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Catherine Lloyd
High Point
Mrs. Catherine Whitaker Lloyd, 89, a resident of the Wesleyan Arms Center and a former resident of Terrell Drive died Aug. 26, 2000, at Wesleyan Arms.
She was born July 30, 1911, in Lexington, a daughter of Robert Lee and Sarah Saunders Whitaker. She was a bookkeeper with Bryant Electric before retiring in 1956. She was of the Methodist faith. She was married to William Harris Lloyd, who preceded her in death on March 11, 1970. She also was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Hedrick, Addie Bame and Maggie Hinkle and one brother, R.L. Whitaker.
Surviving is one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Whitaker Adams of Trinity.
Graveside services will be held 2 Monday at Floral Garden Park Cemetery and will be conducted by Rev. Melvin B. Anderson. Mrs. Lloyd will remain at Sechrest Funeral Home in Archdale.
Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, 3420 Shamrock Dr., Charlotte, N.C. 28215.

William Moss
High Point
William Jackson Moss, 64, of Johnson Street died Aug. 25, 2000, at his residence.
He was born in Columbus County on Feb. 26, 1936, a son of Andrew and Gertha Cribb Moss. He was employed as a painter and was of the Baptist faith. He was a loving father, grandfather and friend who never met a stranger.
Surviving are his wife, Alice Bartley Moss of the home; two sons, Bobby and Ricky Moss of Gastonia; a daughter, Fran Moss of Tabor City; two stepdaughters, Onnie Smith of Winston-Salem and Ennis Davis of Asheboro; two sisters Evelyn Gibson of High Point and Joyce McPherson of Tabor City; one brother, Curtis Moss of Tabor City; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday in the Harold C. Davis Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Randall Nealy. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Claudia Wright
Thomasville
Mrs. Claudia Easter Waters Wright, 96, a resident of Pineywood Road and formerly of 23 Forest Drive, Fairgrove Forest, died Aug. 25, 2000, at Evergreens Inc. in High Point.
She was affectionately called 'Easter' by her father as she was born on Easter Sunday, April 4, 1904 in Craven County to William Hawkins Waters and Donnie Geneva Whitehead Waters. She graduated from Dover High School in 1923 and attended North Carolina College for Women, which is now UNCG. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Carroll Wright Jr.
She was a charter member and served as worthy Matron of the Thomasville Chapter 171 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Greensboro White Shrine and active for many years in the Fairgrove Home Demonstration Club. She was an associate member of the Thomasville Woman's Club. Easter was the oldest member of the Fairgrove United Methodist Church and a life member of the Woman's Society of Christian Service.
Easter is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Donna Carter and her husband, Lawrence 'Pete', of Greensboro, Mrs. Frances Bland of High Point, a grandson, Allen Flynt; great-grandson, Dylan, of Burlington, and a granddaughter, Elizabeth 'Libby' Flynt of High Point; Mrs. Margaret Buckingham and her husband, William 'Bill,' of High Point; a son, George Carroll Wright III and his wife Nell of Thomasville, a grandson Georgie, a granddaughter, Donna, a great-grandson, Mikie, and a great-grandson, J.J., of Thomasville.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Monday in Fairgrove United Methodist Church with the Rev. David L. White officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church an hour prior to the service and other times at the home of the daughter, Mrs. Margaret Buckingham of 1405 Wales Drive in High Point. Pallbearers will be the members of the Thomasville Chapter 171 of the Order of the Eastern Star.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Fairgrove United Methodist Church, 204 Cedar Lodge Road, Thomasville, N.C. 27360.

Harold Beck
Thomasville
Harold William Beck, 72, a resident of 128-A Pilot Drive died Aug. 27, 2000, at Lexington Memorial Hospital.
He was born Aug. 15, 1928, in Davidson County, the son of Arthur Lee Beck Sr. and Rachel Conrad Beck. He was a livestock dealer and a member of Grace Lutheran Church. On Jan. 15, 1949, he was married to Martha Hartman, who preceded him in death on Dec. 14, 1995. He was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Arthur Lee Beck Jr. and Joseph 'Bud' Brown Beck.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Linda Bryant and her husband, Ron, of Thomasville, Mrs. Sharon Sink and husband, Sam, of Archdale and Mrs. Debbie Batten and her husband, Dane, of Thomasville; a son, David Lee Beck and his wife, Barbara, of Thomasville; a sister, Dorothy Beck of Thomasville; a brother, Grady Beck of Thomasville; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation is 7 to 9 tonight at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home and at other times at family members' homes.
Memorials may be directed to the American Lung Association of North Carolina, 112 Fayette St., Winston-Salem, N.C. 27101.

Mary Christian
High Point
Mrs. Mary Brown Christian, 47, of 1407 Waterloo Drive, died Aug. 26, 2000, at her residence.
She was born Sept. 17, 1952, in Marlboro County, S.C., a daughter of James Willie Brown Sr. and Geneva Miller Brown. She had resided in High Point for 43 years and was employed by the City of High Point as director of Southside Recreation Center. She also worked with the Roy Culler Senior Citizens Group. She was a member at Temple Memorial Baptist Church, where she served on the usher board and missionary group No. 4. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Her father and a sister, Jeanette Meachum, both preceded her in death.
Surviving are her husband, Bernard J. Christian of the home; a daughter, Anita Patrice Christian of Burlington; her mother of High Point; three brothers, James Willie Brown Jr. (Farry), Burnise Brown (Vivian) and Arthur Brown (Ellen); two sisters, Mary Harris and Corine McLeod (Charles), all of High Point; mother-in-law, Mrs. Mary Alice Gabriel Christian of High Point; two brothers-in-law, Gregory Christian of High Point and Earl Lee Christian (Elise) of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Christian of Burlington and Alice Faye Christian of Charlotte; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Temple Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Haywood T. Gray. Burial will follow in Carolina Biblical Gardens. Visitation will be 2:15 p.m. Wednesday at the church and at other times at the residence.
The Omega, Omega ceremony by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority is 2:45 p.m. Haizlip Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

V. Davis
Washington, D.C.
Mrs. Virginia Davis, a resident of 654 Girard St. died Aug. 26, 2000, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, where she had been a patient for three days. She had been in declining health for three months.
She was born in Albemarle, N.C., a daughter of Weldon and Blanche Harris Davis. She resided in New York City for a number of years, later relocating to Washington, D.C., where she lived for 40 years. Her husband, Thomas Clemment, died June 13, 2000. She was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving are a host of nieces, among them Mrs. Ann Simmons and Ms. Aleza Simmons, both of Jamestown, N.C., and Mrs. Maelyn Golden of Greensboro, N.C.; a host of nephews, among them Tom Simmons of Jamestown, N.C., Bobby Hayes of San Francisco, Calif., Earl Colston of Los Angeles, Calif., and Howard Colston of Gabriola, Canada; a host of cousins; and a very dear friend, Constance Brown, who was her caretaker in Washington, D.C.
A service of remembrance will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Marshall's Funeral Home, 4217 9th St., N.W., Suitland, Md. Burial will follow in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Suitland. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel.
Haizlip Funeral Home in High Point is in charge of local arrangements.

George Dowd
Kernersville
The Rev. George Wylie Dowd, 82, resident of 2386 Pine Meadow Court died at 11:51 a.m. Aug. 26, 2000, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem following declining health since June.
He was born July 11, 1918, in Montgomery, Ala., a son of Charles Brantley and Susan Rebecca Beckham Dowd. He has been a resident of Kernersville and the Trinity vicinity for the past 30 years. He was the former pastor of Trinity Baptist Church and had served at other churches in parts of North Carolina and Georgia. He was a member of Abbotts Creek Baptist Church and Dan Hayworth Sunday School Class. On Sept. 10, 1939, he was married to Genevieve Wolfe, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Georgette) Bullard of 2380 Pine Meadow Court, Kernersville; and a son, Clyde Brantley Dowd of DeFuniak Springs, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Harold (Alice) Pittman of LaFayette, Ala.; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Abbotts Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Lee Stocks, Roy Cantrell and Jack B. Rose. The body will be at Cumby Family Funeral Service until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Dan Hayworth Sunday School Class: Johnny Hedgecock, Danny Gann, Kay Green, Mike Rinehardt, John Sulger and Lawrence Todd.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the Bus Fund of Abbotts Creek Baptist Church, 2816 Abbots Creek Church Road, High Point, N.C. 27265.

Katherine Epting
High Point
Mrs. Katherine Marilla Tucker Epting, 96, formerly of 725 Hendrix St., died Aug. 27, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born in Randolph County on Feb. 15, 1904, the daughter of McCoy and Marilla Boling Tucker. She was a homemaker and was of the Methodist faith. She had a love for animals, especially her cows and her precious dog, Prissy. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Virgil Epting; two sisters, Annie London and Ruby Maske; and five brothers, John, Vellon, Bernie, Lawson and Marvin Tucker.
Surviving are a sister, Ina Russell of Jamestown; a brother, M.C. Tucker of Thomasville; two special nieces, Ruth Briles and Bobbi Briles, both of High Point; several other nieces and nephews; and her special dog, Prissy.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wesleyan Arms Nursing Home Chapel by the Rev.Vern Price.
Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The body will be placed in the chapel 30 minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be lfrom 7 to 8 tonight at Harold C. Davis Funeral Home.

Jessie Foster
Lexington
Mrs. Jessie Wilson Foster, 75, died Aug. 26, 2000, at Lexington Memorial Hospital after declining health of several years.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today at Lexington City Cemetery.
Davidson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pauline Hardy
High Point
Pauline Sexton Hardy, 86, a former resident of Archdale, died Aug. 26, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born in Davidson County on May 13, 1914, the daughter of Grant and Lona Loflin Sexton and was the last of 10 children. She was a member of Pilot View Baptist Church and was formerly employed as a looper with Crown and Melrose and had retired from Sky City. She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Hardy; a daughter, Elizabeth Miller; and two sons, Darrell Pell and Calvin Pell.
Surviving are two daughters, Peggy Holt of Thomasville and Sue Pell of Greensboro; a son, Craig Johnson of Archdale; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Harold C. Davis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Bishop. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Sue Pell, 5309 Audrey Road, Greensboro.
Memorials may be directed to Pilot View Baptist Church, 7173 Prospect Church Road, Thomasville, N.C. 27360.

Ruby Gilbert Martin, 94, of 706 Fuller Mill Road died Aug. 27, 2000, at Community General Hospital.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be handled by Family Funeral Care of Thomasville.

Roby Marshall Smith, 87, of 5737 E. Old N.C. 64 died Aug. 27, 2000, at his home after an illness of two months.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hedrick's Grove United Church of Christ Cemetery.
