Entombment will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Forest Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, Lexington, N.C. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at Piedmont Funeral Home, Lexington.

William Pharoh Barnhill, 58, of 307 Big John Road died at 10:55 a.m. Sept. 11, 2000, at his residence.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Bright Light Baptist Church. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at the church.
J.C. Green & Sons, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

Geneva Griffith

Mrs. Geneva Dozier Griffith, 90, of Carolina House of Lexington, formerly of Fairway Drive, died at 5:25 p.m. Sept. 11, 2000, at Lexington Memorial Hospital after declining health of several years.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at Davidson Funeral Home.

Ronnia Hill
Thomasville
Mrs. Ronnia Treva Lyndon Hill, 84, of 514 Longview Drive died at 5 a.m. at the residence of her daughter.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:30-8 tonight at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home.

Katie Johnson

Mrs. Katie Lee Brady Johnson, 86, died Sept. 11, 2000.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at Ridge Funeral Home.

Ann Nassif
Chapel Hill
Mrs. Ann Marie Nebel Nassif, 40, died peacefully at her residence Sept. 12, 2000, after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
She was born Dec. 23, 1960, in High Point, a daughter of Dr. and Mrs. William Arthur Nebel. She was a graduate of Chapel Hill High School, attended Hollins College and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She was presented at the North Carolina Debutante Ball and the Durham Debutante Ball. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. O.B. Bonner of High Point and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Nebel of Charlotte.
Surviving are her husband, Joseph Lee Nassif Jr.; two sons, William Thomas Nassif and John Bonner Nassif of the residence; her parents of Chapel Hill; and a brother, William Arthur Nebel Jr. of Raleigh.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Church of the Holy Family.
Memorials may be directed to the Ann Marie Fund, Church of the Holy Family, 200 Hayes Road, Chapel Hill, N.C. 27514 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
Cremation Society of the Carolinas, Raleigh, is in charge of arrangements.

Chad Smith
Thomasville
Chad Melton Smith, 27, of 17 Hodges Drive died Sept. 11, 2000, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 27, 1972, in Thomasville, a son of Ronald M. 'Tubby' and Brenda Bean Smith. He was a lifelong resident of Thomasville. He was a graduate of Thomasville Senior High School. In 1995 he graduated from Catawba College and received a degree in sports medicine. He served as an athletic trainer for the football team while he was in college. He was a former employee of Char-Meck Med Service and Rowan County EMS. He was currently employed with Pilot & Fairgrove fire departments and he also was employed part time with Davidson County EMS. He was a volunteer with Thomasville Rescue Squad and a former member of the North Carolina Urban Search and Rescue Team.
Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Brenda Bean Smith of the residence; a sister, Miss Julie Smith of the residence; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Bean of Thomasville; an aunt, Miss Priscilla Smith of Thomasville; and an uncle, Philip Bean of Greensboro.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at West End Untied Methodist Church by the Rev. Greg Gordon. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The body will be at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home until the hour of service. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at the funeral home and other times at the residence of his grandparents, 211 Moore St.
Memorials may be directed to West End United Methodist Church, 600 Lexington Ave., Thomasville, N.C. 27360.
All Davidson County Emergency Public Safety Personnel are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers and are asked to be at the church at 10:30 a.m.

Thomas Smith
Thomasville
Thomas Edwin Smith, 77, of 7431 Mountainview Way South Gate Estates died at 9:40 p.m. Sept. 11, 2000, at Community General Hospital.
He was born March 1, 1923, in Davidson County, a son of Aurelious John and Fannie Hill Smith, who both preceded him in death. He was formerly employed with Ragan Hosiery Mill, Influential Hosiery Mill and part time with the Thomasville Post Office. He retired from Singer Hosiery Mill and continued to work part time with them. He attended Springfield Friends Meeting. On Oct. 22, 1978, he married Willie Marie Stoneman Smith, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are three stepson, Robert Eldridge McGuire and his wife, Dorothy, James Melvin McGuire and his wife, Mary, and Ronnie Lee McGuire, all of Thomasville; a brother, Lloyd J. Smith of Thomasville; eight stepgrandchildren; and 10 stepgreat-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 4 p.m. Thursday at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel by the Rev. Allen Byerly. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at the funeral home and other times at the residence.

Ernest Snider
Thomasville
Ernest Monroe Snider, 91, formerly of 811 Arbordale Drive, High Point, died Sept. 12, 2000, at Britthaven of Davidson Nursing Center after several months of declining health.
He was born Aug. 23, 1909, in Randolph County, a son of Rufus and Annie Pierce Snider. He was a resident of High Point for 31 years and a resident of Thomasville for the past three and one-half years. He was a retired building contractor and a member of First Reformed United Church of Christ. He was married twice, first to the former Ressie Kinley and later to the former Anne McCoy Russell, who both preceded him in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. William (Ernestine) Hayworth and Mrs. Thomas (Judy) Wiley, both of Archdale; a sister, Mrs. Lena Gallimore of Thomasville; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchild and a great-great-grandchild.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, by the Rev. Winston 'Bud' Hill and the Rev. Donald L. Stevenson. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Louise York Welborn of Bradford Village West Rest Home, Kernersville, formerly of William & Mary Apts., N. Hamilton Street, High Point, died Sept. 9, 2000, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
She was employed for many years at S&H Green Stamp Store and at K-mart, N. Main St.
Surviving are a son, David N. Welborn of High Point; and a granddaughter, Lisa Welborn Grigg of Austin, Tex.

Paul Everette Burkhart, 77, of Ward Curry Road died at 3:45 a.m. Sept. 13, 2000, at Britthaven of Davidson in Thomasville after an illness of nine months.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday Second Reformed United Church of Christ. Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at Davidson Funeral Home.

Ora Cook

Mrs. Ora Deloris Kinley Cook, 78, of 288 Sunset Lane died Sept. 12, 2000, at SunBridge for Lexington Nursing Center.
She was born Dec. 29, 1921, in Davidson County, a daughter of Gurn Lucia and Blanche Mae Noah Kinley. She retired from High Point Furniture Industries and attended Landmark Baptist Church. She married three time, Ervin Willie Byerly, Lowel Claude Browning and Vergial Lee Cook, all who preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by two sons, David Ray Byerly and Michael Eddie Byerly.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Jessie (Betty) Owens and Ms. Margaret Lackey and her fiance', Steve Swink, all of Thomasville; two sons, Lawrence W. Byerly and his wife, Linda, of Thomasville and Roger D. Byerly and his wife, Debbie, of Lexington; a sister, Beulah Gladden of Charlotte; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel by the Rev. Tommy Cashatt. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and other times at residence of her daughter, Mrs. Jessie (Betty) Owens, 191 Lake Road.

Avery Cox Jr.

Avery Ellis Cox Jr., 59, of 901 Ararat Longhill Road died Sept. 12, 2000, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 26, 1940, in Surry County, a son of Avery Ellis Cox Sr. and Ora Stone Cox. He was a self-employed farmer and excavator and a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father.
Surviving are his wife, Betsy Loftis Cox of the residence; two daughters and sons-in-law, Deena Cox Scott and her husband, Vincent, of Greensboro and Christi Cox Kirkman and her husband, Nolan, of Pilot Mountain; a son and daughter-in-law, Avery E. 'Butch' Cox III and his wife, Janet, of Pilot Mountain; a granddaughter, Salem Dare Kirkman of Pilot Mountain; his mother of Winston-Salem; three sisters, Ruth Parks of High Point, Doris Bradley of Roanoke, Va., and Charlotte Frans of Pilot Mountain; and two brothers, Glenn Cox of Pilot Mountain and Ralph Cox of High Point.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Holly Springs Baptist Church by the Rev. Stewart Mauck and the Rev. Fred Chilton. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at Cox-Needham Funeral Home and other times at the residence.

Mrs. Frankie Pierce Grubb, 80, of Lexington died Sept. 14, 2000.
