Harvey Rueben Weaver, 75, of 4602 Harvey Road died Oct. 26, 2000, at his residence.
He was born May 23, 1925, in Nashville, Tenn., a son of Charles Spurgeon and Larcie Hicks Weaver. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served his country during World War II. He owned and operated North Main Exxon prior to his retirement and was currently assistant golf pro at Blair Park Golf Course in High Point. He was a member of Brentwood Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Peggy Kemp Weaver of the residence; three daughters, Mrs. Ava Goodman and her husband, the Rev. J. Barry Goodman, of Shelby, Mrs. Joyce Milliren and her husband, Dr. Karl Milliren, of Thomasville and Mrs. Amanda Beal and her husband, Jay, of High Point; two brothers, Henry Weaver and Jim Weaver, both of High Point; three sisters, Mrs. Lib Warren and Mrs. Virginia Reece, both of High Point, and Mrs. Rebecca Mitchell of Virginia; six grandchildren, Andrew and Josh Goodman, Bryant and Matthew Milliren, and Rebecca and Carley Beal.
Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Shining Light Baptist Church, Greensboro, by the Rev. Jimmy Dillon. Visitation will be 7:30-9 tonight at the church.
Memorials may be directed to Shining Light Academy, 4530 W. Wendover Ave., Greensboro, N.C. 27409.

Hazel Dunbar

Mrs. Hazel 'Mamaw' McCandless Dunbar, 75, died Oct. 28, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital after a lengthy illness.
She was born on July 15, 1925, in Guilford County, a daughter of Thelma McCandless. On Nov. 9, 1946, she married Walter Herman Dunbar, who preceded her in death April 26, 1993. She was a former employee at Allen Jay Cefeteria and Morgan Hosiery. She was a charter member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class.
Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte Dumencich of Greensboro and Rita Stone and her husband, Wayne, of Randleman; one son, Talmadge Dunbar and his wife, Susan, of Randleman; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Freida Woolard.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cornerstone Baptist Church by Dr. Rodney Otwell. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.

Louise Elliott
High Point
Mrs. Louise Pearson Elliott, 85, of N. Hamilton Street, died Oct. 29, 2000.
She was born June 20, 1915 in Newton, a daughter of Arthur Lee and Mabel Cline Pearson. She was a resident of HIgh Point for the past 60 years and was a homemaker. She was a former member of the Altrusa Club and a mamber of Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Rebecca Sunday School Class. On Dec. 25, 1937, she married Jesse Radford Elliott, who preceded her in death July 4, 1972. She also was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Radford Elliott.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Brenda Elliott Davis and her husband, Norris, of Jamestown; a son, Donald Radford Elliott and his wife, Eleanor, of Greensboro, and six grandchildren, Brian Davis, Karen Davis, Jennifer Booker, Justin Elliott, Joel Elliott and Jonathan Elliott.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church by the Rev. John L. Petry. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the funeral. Visitation 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Sechrest Funeral Home in High Point.
Memorials may be directed to Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1401 Heathcliff Road, High Point, N.C. 27262.

Pearl Hussey
Greensboro
Mrs. Pearl Brower Hussey, 97, died Oct. 28, 2000, at Moses Cone Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Carmie Hussey and daughter, Jackie Lee Henry.
Surviving are two daughters, Frances Smith of Greensboro and Peggy Jarrett of High Point; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hanes Lineberry, Vanstory Chapel. Burial will be in Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Seagrove. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Roland Kindley
Thomasville
Roland Kindley, 71, of 103 Sam Kinley Drive died Oct. 28, 2000, at Community General Hospital after a period of declining health.
He was born June 16, 1929, in Davidson County, a son of Pearlie H. and Myrtle Winslow Kindley. He was a self-employed painting contractor, retiring in 1995. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Hillside Park Baptist Church and the Adult II Sunday School Class. He also loved to sing Gospel music. On Oct. 5, 1951, he was married to the former Nellie Mae Jenkins, who survives of the home.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Bessie Gallimore and Lena Snyder, and three brothers, Dolan Kindley, Robert Kindley and Walter Kindley.
Survivors include two daughters, Ms. Chrystal Kindley of Greensboro and Mrs. Wendy Andrews and her husband, Mike, of Thomasville; two sons, Ronnie Kindley and his wife, Jan, and Terry Kindley and his wife, Robin, of Thomasville; two sisters, Millie Snider and her husband, Carl, of Lexington, and Mrs. Geraldine Miller of Thomasville; and four grandchildren, Sana Kindley, Jenna Kindley, Luke Brannock and Lee Brannock.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hillside Park Baptist Church by the Rev. John Wheeles. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at Family Funeral Care in Thomasville.

Ms. Etta Harmon Martin, 94, formerly of Lexington, died Oct. 29, 2000.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Eula Rich
High Point
Mrs. Eula Hilliard Rich, 88, formerly of 3018 Wellingford Drive, died Oct. 29, 2000, at Evergreens Nursing Center.
She was born April 19, 1912, in Randolph County, a daughter of Alvis and Francis Myrick Hilliard. She was a resident of Archdale for 50 years before moving to High Point and graduated from Trinity High School in 1931. She was a member of Archdale United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Suzanne Wesley Class and retired from Sears. On April 22, 1933, she was married to Garth Erwin Rich, who preceded her in death March 15, 1997.
Surviving are a son Benny E. Rich and his wife, JoAnne, of 313 Summit Road; a daughter Mrs. Janice Webb-Barrington and her husband, Harold, of High Point; three grandchildren, Mark Andrew Webb of Hickory, Daniel Erwin Rich of High Point and Holly Rich Ferree of Archdale, and a great-grandson, Garrett James Rich.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale by the Rev. Harold Shives and Dr. Mary John Dye. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Linda Mae Blackwell, 52, of Swing Dairy Road died at 1 a.m. Oct. 30, 2000, at Kate B. Reynolds in Winston-Salem.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Center Hill Baptist Church. Visitation will be after the service Wednesday and at the residence of her sister, Judy Gibson, 316 Green Meadows Drive.

Mrs. Bessie Molene Trotter Yow Brantley, 87, died Oct. 30, 2000.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Amity Hill Baptist Church. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at Ridge Funeral Home.

Alice Cecil
Thomasville
Mrs. Alice Davis Cecil, 70, of 427 Hasty School Road died Oct. 28, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born May 16, 1930, in Hamlet, a daughter of Walter Roland Davis Jr. and Sara Elizabeth Melton Davis. She was a resident of Davidson County, the majority of her life. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ. She retired from Today's Home, High Point, in 1995 and was previously employed with William Alan Inc. and Burton Upholstery, both in High Point. On Oct. 27, 1948, she was married to Charlie Cecil, who survives of the residence. She was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Roland Davis III.
Also surviving are a son, Steve Cecil of Trinity; a sister, Mrs. Tipton (Pat) Greene of Mt. Gilead; a grandson, Austin Tyler Cecil; her stepmother, Mrs. Eva Weaver Davis of Rural Retreat, Va.; a stepbrother, Jack Weaver of Rural Retreat; and six nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. today at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel by the Rev. Joe D. Coltrane. Visitation will be after the service today and at other times at the residence of a brother-in-law, John D. Cecil, 428 Hasty School Road.

John Foy Jr.
Arapahoe
John Clay Foy Jr., 67, died Oct. 28, 2000, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 18, 1932, in Guilford County, a son of Mary Carolyn Alfred Peay and John Clay Foy, who both preceded him in death. He graduated from The Phelps School, Malvern, Pa., where he was president of the student body and received the 'Headmaster's Citation' for academic excellence, leadership and service to the school. He attended Oak Ridge Military Institute, High Point College and North Carolina State University. He was a paper box manufacturer with High Point Paper Box Co. and Carraway Packaging. He was independently employed in the metal fabrication industry. He was an Episcopalian and a Rotarian. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, the CCA Fishing Club and the Carolina Fishing Club, New Bern. He was an avid aviator.
Surviving are his wife, Hilda Knight Foy, of Arapahoe; a son, John Clay Foy III of Winston-Salem; a grandson, John Michael Foy of Winston-Salem; a sister, Carolyn Foy Ragsdale of Smithfield; a brother, Henry G. Foy of Long Beach; four nieces, Mary Foy Ragsdale of Wilson, Eliza R. Ragsdale of Smithfield, Sutton F. Boney of Wilmington and Mary Carolyn Foy of Raleigh; two nephews, James E. Ragsdale Jr. of Portsmouth, Va., and H. Grattan Foy Jr. of Charleston, S.C.; an aunt, Harriett Alfred Paul; a stepson, Jerry Montgomery of Winston-Salem; and a stepgrandson, William 'Billy' Edward Mason IV of Arapahoe.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Saint Thomas Episcopal Church, Oriental.

Mrs. Velna Hayworth Gibson, 88, of Wesleyan Arms died Oct. 29, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital after declining health of several months.
She was born Sept. 19, 1912, in Guilford County, a daughter of Everett E. and Minnie S. Hayworth, who both preceded her in death. She was a lifelong resident of High Point. She retired as a bookkeeper with Country Gas Service. She was a member of High Point Friends Meeting. She was married to John W. Gibson, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Judy Gibson Mays of Greensboro; a nephew, James E. Troxler of Kernersville; and two grandsons, Robert F. Mays III of Atlanta and John R. Mays of Greensboro.
Funeral will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Sechrest Chapel, 1301 E. Lexington Ave., High Point, by the Rev. David Kingrey. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service Wednesday.
Memorials may be directed to High Point Friends Meeting, 800 Quaker Lane, High Point, N.C. 27262.

James Gill Sr.

James 'Cigar' Gill Sr., 81, of 1010 Meadowbrook Blvd. died Oct. 28, 2000, at Brian Center Nursing Care in Lexington.
He was born in Lancaster, S.C., a son of the Rev. Samuel and Josephine Coleman Gill, who both preceded him in death. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and a member of the usher board. He was a member of the VFW of High Point.
Surviving are a daughter, Peggie A. Moore of the residence; a son, James (Beverly) Gill Jr. of Camp Springs, Md.; a granddaughter, Jarrette (William) Grimes; a grandson, Raynard (Michele) Moore; five great-grandchildren, Jazzy Moore, Darrius Moore, Colin J. Moore, Deion Murdock and Raven McKiver; and a host of relatives an friends.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church by the Rev. F.O. Bass. Burial will be in Carolina Biblical Gardens. Visitation will be 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at the church and other times at the residence.

Henry Clay Hartley, 69, of 2543 Becky Hill Road, Yadkin College Community, died at 10:19 p.m. Oct. 29, 2000.
Funeral will be 6 p.m. Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel. Visitation will be at the residence.

Dolan Camden Hunter formerly of Thomasville, N.C., died Oct. 30, 2000, at Forsyth Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Stella Richardson
Archdale
Mrs. Stella Rush Richardson, 84, formerly of 1510 Cloverdale St., High Point, died Oct. 30, 2000, at GrayBrier Nursing and Retirement Center after declining health of several years.
She was born Sept. 28, 1916, in Randolph County, a daughter of William and Florence Dugan Rush, who both preceded her in death. She was a resident of High Point the majority of her life. She retired from Drexel Heritage Furniture Co., serving 30 years and attended Highland Baptist Church. In 1936, she married Lacy H. Richardson, who preceded her in death Aug. 14, 1984.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Joyce Grant and her husband, Wilfred of Greensboro, Mrs. Sandi Steed and her husband, Ken, of Edgar Springs, Mo., and Ms. Pat Earnhardt of Oak Island; a son, L. Harold Richardson and his wife, Judy, of Thomasville; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Cumby Family funeral Service by the Rev. Dennis Pulliam. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home and other times at the family's respective residences.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Ila Skeen
Archdale
Mrs. Ila Mae Bowman Skeen, 95, formerly of 5360 Bowman Loop Drive died Oct. 29, 2000, at GrayBrier Nursing and Retirement Center after several months of declining health.
She was born June 13, 1905, in Stokes County, a daughter of Laurie and Nannie Carroll Bowman, who both preceded her in death. She was a resident of Archdale the majority of her life, a homemaker and a member of Glenola Baptist Church and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. On Sept. 8, 1946, she married Robert Skeen, who preceded her in death Oct. 26, 1993. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Melva Parker, and a son, Leon Burrow.
Surviving are three sons, Harrison Burrow of Archdale, Leon Skeen of Lexington and Olin Skeen of Archdale; two daughters, Mrs. Jean Seward of Pensacola, Fla., and Mrs. Joe (Ann) Burton of Randleman; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Glenola Baptist Church by the Rev. W. Doug Davis and the Rev. Billy Self. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, and other times at the residence of Mrs. Ann Burton, 7299 Davis Country Road, Randleman, or Harrison Burrow, 317 Gregg St., Archdale.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Memorials may be directed to Glenola Baptist Church, 8330 U.S. 311, Archdale, N.C. 27263.

Mrs. Dorothy Eugenia Solomon, 73, of Veterans Avenue, Southmont, died Oct. 29, 2000.
