Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and other times at 646 Louya Rd. in Lexington.

Myrtle Daniels
High Point
Mrs. Myrtle Williams Daniels, a resident of Francis Street, died March 11, 2001, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born in Rockingham on Feb. 6, 1914, the daughter of Ashley and Fannie Stutts Williams. She was former owner of Arcade Beauty Shop. She was a member of Highland United Methodist Church and a member of Woodmen of the World.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
In 1937, she married Birley R. Daniels, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are two sons, Jerry Daniels and his wife, Susan, and granddaughter, Nicole, of Trinity, and Mike Daniels and his wife, Lisa, and granddaughter, Jennifer, of Randleman; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Harold C. Davis Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jack Luther. Entombment will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to Highland United Methodist Church, 1015 Mill Ave., High Point, N.C. 27260.

Hilda Davis
Lexington
Mrs. Hilda Elizabeth Butts Davis, 73, died March 11, 2001.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Center Hill Baptist Church. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. today at Piedmont Funeral Home and other times at the residence.

J. Deweese
High Point
Mrs. Jacqueline Louise Deweese, 67, a resident of 6496 Thompson Rd. Ext. died March 9, 2001, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born June 27, 1933, in Spartanburg, S.C., the daughter of Compton James Brewster and Sarah Huckens Brewster. She had worked at Hardy’s Restaurant in Thomasville as long as her health permitted. She attended Wayside Tabernacle Freewill Baptist Church.
She was married to Robert Deweese, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn Coleman of Whiteville and Barbara Hartwell of Lexington; one sister, Mrs. Ken (Barbara) Burton of Chalis, Wash.; three grandchildren, Christy Turbeville, James Coleman Jr. and Robert Odell Coleman; and two great-grandchildren, Felisha Turbeville and Kelsey Turbeville.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at J.C. Green and Sons Chapel. Burial will be in Forest Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at the home.

Harvey Loflin
High Point
Harvey Edward Loflin, 66, a resident of Cornell Drive died March 10, 2001, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born in High Point on Sept. 8, 1934, the son of Daniel and Virginia Wood Loflin. He was formerly employed at High Point Furniture.
He was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Upchurch; one sister, Vinnie Hale; and three brothers, Glenn, Wade and Fred Loflin.
Surviving are his wife, Iris Loflin, of the home; two daughters, Cindy McKeehan of Angier, N.C. and Cheryl Medlin and her husband, Terry, of Summerfield; three sons, Allen Upchurch of the home, Mike Loflin of High Point and Eric Loflin and his wife, Karen, of High Point; four sisters, Edith Wells of Denton, Freda Stroud of Denton, Eva Warnstaff of Charlotte and Dorothy Martin of Boone; one brother, Ralph Loflin of High Point; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery by the Rev. Dennis Moore. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Harold C. Davis Funeral Home.

Carrie Richardson
Thomasville
Mrs. Carrie Cochrane Richardson, 90, of 413 Martin Luther King Dr. died March 9, 2001, at Britthaven of Davidson, where she had been a resident for eight months.
She was born Dec. 20, 1910, in Manning, S.C., a daughter of Dock and Margaret Abraham Cochrane. She had resided in Thomasville for more than 80 years. She was employed all her working life with the family of Dave Long.
She was a faithful member of Zion Tabernacle FBH Holiness Church of God America, and was Mother of Central NC District. She was president of the Missonary Board for more than 50 years; former president of Young People’s Institution (YPI); Sunday School teacher of youth class; member of senior choir; and president of Mothers’ Board. She was also former member of Senior Citizens and Helping Hands Club.
Her husband, James Richardson, Sr. preceded her in death in January 1998. Also predeceasing her were one son, James Howard Richardson, Jr.; two daughters, Bernice and Jean Carol Richardson; five brothers, William Cochrane, Albert Cochrane, Ned Cochrane, Jeff Cochrane and Nick Cochrane; and one sister, Ella C. Bing.
Surviving are two sons, Willie Taft Richardson of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Edward “Cal” Richardson of Thomasville; one daughter, Rebecca R. (Samuel) Maxwell of High Point; one goddaughter, Elaine Walden of Asheboro; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret (Willis) Evans and Ms. Jessie Cochrane, both of Thomasville; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and devoted friends, among them, the family of Dave Long, all of whom she considered her extended family.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Tabernacle FBH Church by Elder Marshall McCoy. Burial will be at Carolina Biblical Gardens. Public viewing will be 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday at Thomas-Haizlip Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church and other times at the residence.
Thomas-Haizlip Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Roy Sechrest
High Point
Roy Glen Sechrest, 71, died March 10, 2001, at his residence.
He is survived by four step-sons; one sister, Leona Sechrest Murphy and husband, Julian, of Thomasville; and one brother, Bobby Sechrest, of Silver Valley.
Memorial service will be 3 p.m. today at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
Memorials may be directed to Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church, 222 Mt. Zion Church Rd., Thomasville, N.C. 27360.

Hazel Brown
High Point
Miss Hazel Lucille Brown, 83, of Model Farm Road, died March 13, 2001, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born June 14, 1917, in Guilford County, a daughter of Lee and Blanche Wall Brown. She was a lifelong resident of High Point. She was employed with O.E. Kearns Hosiery Co. and later worked at Classic Galleries. She was a member of First Wesleyan Church, the Mary Carson Sunday School Class and the Bethany Circle.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Ruth Silman of High Point; a brother, F. Ralph Brown of Greensboro; and an aunt, Mrs. Margie Wall of High Point.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at First Wesleyan Church by the Rev. James C. Smith. Burial will be in Oakwood Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday at Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point.

Catherine Cheek
Greensboro
Mrs. Catherine Louise Winn Cheek, 76, died March 12, 2001, at Evergreens Senior Healthcare Systems in Greensboro.
She was born June 5, 1924, a daughter of Flora James Griggs Winn and John James Winn, who both preceded her in death. She was a native of Danville, Va. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Covenant Church. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Edward Cheek Sr.; a brother, John “Buck” Winn; a sister, Mary Jane Winn; and her daughter, Ellen Gwynne Cheek.
Surviving are three sons, John E. Cheek Jr. and his wife, Cheryl, of St. Louis, Mich., Jim Cheek and his wife, Monty, of High Point, and Joe Cheek and his fiancée, Susan Smith, of High Point; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia “Jean” and Acey Jones of Gastonia, Margaret and Dallas Beck of Atlanta, Belva and Bob Setzer of Greensboro; and six loving grandchildren, Brad, Kelly, Brent, Heather, Ashley and Christian; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. John J. Winn of Greensboro.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Evangelical Covenant Church by the Rev. Marc Putnam. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 tonight at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral & Cremation Service and other times at the residence of Belva Setzer, 307 Melbourne Road, Greensboro.
Memorials may be directed to Trinity Evangelical Covenant Church, 5200 W. Friendly Ave., Greensboro, N.C. 27410.

Helen Dahle
High Point
Helen Dahle, 82, active volunteer dies
Mrs. Helen Barta Dahle, 82, of the Presbyterian Home died March 12, 2001, at the home.
She was born June 30, 1918, in St. Paul, Minn., a daughter of Joseph Barta and Helen Keating Barta. She was a graduate of the University of Minnesota and was a homemaker. She was a mzember of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and a member of St. Margaret’s Chapter. On Nov. 28, 1941, she married Donald Elliott Dahle, who preceded her in death Jan. 29, 1996.
She was a volunteer for the Salvation Army, Red Cross, Mobile Meals and many other charitable organizations. She was a member of the Green Thumb Garden Club and High Point Literary Club. She was a longtime member of High Point Country Club and String and Splinter Club. She served on the board of directors of Fellowship Hall in Greensboro for 18 years.
Surviving are two sons, David E. Dahle and his wife, Peggy, of Hickory, and Donald E. Dahle Jr. and his wife, Laurie, of Atlanta; five grandchildren, Shannon Jordan, David Dahle Jr., Susan Dahle, Elliott Dahle and Meredith Dahle; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church by the Rev. Glen Busch. Inurnment will be private. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Sechrest Funeral Home, East Lexington Avenue and at the Parish Hall of the church Thursday after the memorial service.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gilbert Clinard, Charles Diffendal, Ben Franklin, Dr. Edwin Auman, Ted Smith, C.T. Ingram, Ed W. Freeze III, Dr. Richard Keever, Roy Hauser Jr., Dr. A.B. Croom, Fred N.
