Richard Parkes

Richard “Ricky” Taylor Parkes, 42, of 307 Montlieu Ave. died March 12, 2001, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born Aug. 21, 1958, in Forsyth County, a son of Charles E. and Helen Irene Supthin Parkes. He was a self-employed furniture laminator. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his father, Charles E. Parkes of the residence; three sisters, Patricia P. Shue of High Point; Sandy P. Brookshire and Debra Parkes, both of Winston-Salem; three brothers, Harvey Parkes of Daytona Beach, Fla., Charlie Parkes and Robert Parkes, both of Winston-Salem; and his companion and caregiver for the last 12 years, Ruby Jean Pennington.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Sechrest Chapel by the Rev. David W. Hedrick. Burial will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Prospect United Methodist Church Cemetery, East Bend. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Sechrest Funeral Service, E. Lexington Avenue.

Silas Reddick
High Point
Silas Eugene “Gene” Reddick, 85, of 1618 Kersey Valley Road died March 12, 2001, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born April 24, 1915, in Surry County, a son of Harden Austin and Mary Josephine Stone Reddick, who both preceded him in death. He was a resident of the High Point area for the past 60 years. He retired from Hoover Universal Steel Co. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church, the Men’s Bible Sunday School Class and a deacon of the church. On April 11, 1936, he married the former Myrtle Odell Taylor, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are two sons, S. Ray Reddick of Archdale and Alvin F. Reddick of Jackson, Ga.; two sisters, Mrs. Ora Joyce of Mt. Airy and Mrs. Perry (Lois) Bryant of Pilot Mountain; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Southside Baptist Church by the Rev. Bynum Orr and the Rev. David Miller. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale.
Deacons of Southside Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers and the Men’s Bible Sunday School Class as honorary pallbearers.
Memorials may be directed to Southside Baptist Church, 2515 Bellemeade St., High Point, N.C. 27263.

Jean Rice

Mrs. Jean Terry Rice, 78, of 3407 Dillon Road died March 12, 2001, at her residence.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Cumby Family Funeral Home, High Point.

Ralph Saunders
High Point
Ralph Franklin Saunders, 94, of 505 E. State Ave. died March 11, 2001, at his residence after declining health of 11 years.
He was born May 3, 1906, in Troy, a son of Alexander Franklin and Martha Alice Atkins Saunders. He was owner of Saunders Furniture and Ralph’s T-V and Appliance for 43 years. He was a member of First Church of Christ and a former deacon. On Nov. 23, 1927, he married Fannie Mae Byrd, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Gwen Owens and her husband, Don, of 509 E. State St. and Mrs. Virginia Shea Goodman and her husband, Carey Goodman Jr. of Richmond, Va.; seven grandchildren, Don Owens Jr., Barry Owens and his wife, Claudia, Craig Owens and his wife, Beth, Tim Owens and his wife, Mary, Martha Swann Erickson and her husband, Robert, Dr. R. Carey Goodman III and his wife, Helen, and Alice Brown and her husband, William; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Church of Christ by the Rev. Allen Brown. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The body will be at Sechrest Funeral Home, E. Lexington Avenue, until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, N.C. or to the First Church of Christ General Fund, 301 E. Lexington Ave., High Point, N.C. 27262.

Mrs. Frances “Hank” Isabelle Bates Tetter, 76, of 208 Tussey Ave. died March 10, 2001.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Lexington City Cemetery.

Almeeta Allen
Lexington
Almeeta Allen, 74, of 877 Hill Everhart Road, died March 15, 2001.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home and other times at 341 S. County Home Road.

Paul Covington
High Point
Paul Donald Covington, 49, died March 16, 2001, at Moses Cone Hospital.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete with Gailes Funeral Home Inc.

William Jones
Thomasville
William Clifford Jones, 84, of 48-D Cedar Lodge Road died March 15, 2001, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.
He was born Nov. 10, 1916, in Randolph County, a son of John Thomas Jones and Lula Patterson Jones. He was a retired machinist with Newport News Ship Yard. He was a member of Oak Hill Friends Church, Anderson Memorial Class and the Senior Unity Club. He was married to Ruth Bundy Jones, who preceded him in death Dec. 29, 1999.
Surviving are a son, William Clifford Jones Jr. and his wife, Gayle, of Flagier Beach, Fla.; three sisters, Ruth Green of Greensboro; Myrtle Snider of Climax and Lena Howard of High Point; three grandchildren, Cameron Jones and his wife, Jill, Elizabeth Jones and Catherine Curtis; four great-grandchildren, Lauren Jones, Hunter Curtis, Dimitri Curtis and Billiann Gibson.
Graveside service will be 4 p.m. Sunday in Floral Garden Park Cemetery in High Point by the Rev. Larry Daniels. Visitation will be 5-7 tonight at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, Thomasville.

Rosa Kennedy
High Point
Mrs. Rosa Skeen Kennedy, 98, died March 16, 2001, at Britthaven of Davidson following several years of declining health.
She was born in Randolph County, Dec. 28, 1902, a daughter of Jordan and Rena Kinley Skeen. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Church of the Nazarene. She was married to Jesse L. Kennedy, who died in 1955.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Helen Freeman of Chatham, Va., and Mrs. Ida Mae Hill of Asheboro; two sons, Charles Kennedy of Miramar, Fla., and B.L. Kennedy of Trinity; 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Floral Garden Park Cemetery by the Rev. Billy H. Ring. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Harold C. Davis Funeral Home.
Memorials may be directed to Britthaven of Davidson, 706 Pineywood Road, Thomasville, N.C. 27360.

Edna Killgo

Mrs. Edna Clodfelter Killgo, 74, died March 15, 2001, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born March 16, 1926, in Davidson County, the daughter of Jesse Philip Clodfelter and Manilla Croker Clodfelter. In 1988, she retired from Pittsburg Plate Glass Industries after 30 years of service. She was a volunteer with the American Red Cross and her church library. She was a member of Green Street Baptist Church and the Derrick Moody Sunday School Class, and was a former teacher in the primary department. She was preceded in death by two brothers, J.P. Clodfelter Jr. and Donald R. Clodfelter. On Jan. 10, 1946, she married James Lester Killgo, who preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 1991.
Surviving are two sons, James L. Killgo Jr. and his wife, Meli, of Davie, Fla.; Kenneth D. Killgo and his wife, Dyann, of Conyers, Ga.; a sister, Mrs. Pauline Haynes of High Point; two brothers, Herbert L. Clodfelter of Jamestown and C. Randall Clodfelter of High Point; ten grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Sechrest Chapel on E. Lexington Avenue by the Rev. Gene Phillips. Entombment will be in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to Green Street Baptist Church, Building Fund, 303 Rotary Drive, High Point, N.C. 27262.

Branson Worth Loflin, 86, of 7430 N.C. 62, died March 16, 2001, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Laura Mae Holley McRae, 75, of 1009 Redding Drive, died March 15, 2001, at her home.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale.

Marilyn Peters
Raleigh
Mrs. Marilyn Pruette Peters, 64, of 3124 Cartwright Drive, died March 15, 2001, at the Vencor Hospital in Greensboro.
She was born Jan. 13, 1937, in Boiling Springs, the daughter of Dean B. And Rosalie McMurtrey Pruette. She lived in Raleigh for 29 years and was a homemaker. She received her undergraduate degree at Meredith College and her masters from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She was of the Baptist faith. On June 20, 1970, she married William Thomas Peters, who survives of the home.
Also surviving is her father of Greensboro; two brothers, Dean M. Pruette of Denver, N.C., and David L. Pruette of High Point.
Funeral will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Sechrest Chapel in High Point by Dr. Garland Young. Visitation will be an hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 4161, Greensboro, N.C. 27404-4161.

Gaynell Ray
Burlington
Mrs. Gaynell Wright Ray, 85, of Twin Lakes Center, died March 15, 2001, at the Center.
She was the daughter of Charles Lee Wright and Sally Elizabeth Ernest Wright, who preceded her in death. She retired from Fosters Shoe Store after 54 years.
Surviving are her husband, Charles Monroe Ray of Twin Lakes Center; a son, William “Bill” Ray and his wife, Marie, of 226 Edgedale Drive, High Point; three grandchildren, Charles Ray and his wife, Dianne, of Cary, Leigh Ray Wetherington and her husband, John of High Point and Mark Ray and his wife, Melanie, of High Point; four great-grandchildren, Will and Holden Ray of Cary, Brad and David Wetherington of High Point
Mrs. Ray’s request was for a graveside service which will be held 11 a.m. today in Alamance Memorial Park by the Rev. Richard Stanley of St. Paul’s United Methodists Church.
The body will remain at Rich and Thompson Funeral Service until the service.

Willie Franklin Swink, 55, of 205 Shell Road, died March 16, 2001, at Liberty Woods Nursing Center.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel by the Rev. Thurman Smith and the Rev. Charlie Loman. Visitation will be held 7-9 tonight and other times at the home.
