James Whitley, 74, of 307 Washboard Road died March 8, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point. Visitation will be 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home prior to the service.

Antoinette “Tony” Wike
LEXINGTON - Mrs. Gertrude Antoinette “Tony” Geiger Wike, 83, died March 6, 2000.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church.
Piedmont Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ray Brewer
LEXINGTON - Ray Junior Brewer, 72, of Welcome Arcadia Road died 10 p.m. March 5, 2000, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center after four years of declining health.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Reedy Creek Church of Christ. Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at Davidson Funeral Home.

Jacqueline Brodar
LEXINGTON - Dr. Jacqueline Ann Green Brodar, 68, of S. Main St. died 10:20 p.m. March 5, 2000, at her residence.
Funeral will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Sheets Memorial Baptist Church. Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at Davidson Funeral Home.

Ila Craven
DENTON - Mrs. Ila Loretta Burton Craven, 95, of Mountain Vista Health Park, formerly of 109 Hillside Drive, died 8:10 a.m. March 6, 2000, at the nursing home.
She was born Nov. 26, 1904, in Davidson County, a daughter of Weldon “Nick” and Katie Veach Burton and was a lifelong resident of Davidson County. She graduated from Mills Home School and attended Greensboro Women's College and Guilford Business College. She taught at Kendall School for two years and worked for the City of High Point Social Services Department. She retired from the city of Thomasville as supervisor of billing and collecting. After retirement, she worked part time for the Davidson County Board of Elections as a registrar. She was a member of Calvary United Church of Christ. She was a former member and president of Friendly Garden Club and also a former member and president of Hasty and Pilot Home Extension Clubs. She was a former member and treasurer of the Thomasville Garden Club. On Feb. 17, 1927, she married Alfred Reitzel Craven, who preceded her in death in 1960. She also was preceded in death by a son, Harry Lee Craven.
Surviving are a son, Ira A. Craven of Denton; two sisters, Mrs. Doris Beck of Thomasville and Mrs. Baxter (Mozelle) Hayworth of High Point; a brother, Henry Burton of Thomasville; seven grandchildren, Mrs. Lee (Jan) Johnson, Brad Glisson, Mrs. Deric (Melisa) Skeen, Scott Craven, Jay Craven, Joe Craven and Jeff Craven; six great-grandchildren, Austin Craven, Meleah Skeen, Kristina Glisson, Sarah Craven, Dustin Glisson and Hannah Skeen; and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Betty Dean Craven of High Point.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel, Thomasville, by the Rev. Harold Holste. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at the funeral home and other times at the home of her son, Ira Crave, 506 Vernon Ave.
Memorials may be directed to Mountain Vista Health Park, 106 Mountain Vista Road, Denton, N.C. 27239 or to Calvary Untied Church of Christ, 1410 Lexington Ave., Thomasville, N.C. 27360.

Eva Farlow
HIGH POINT - Mrs. Eva Bowers Farlow, 83, formerly of Arden Place, died March 6, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital after two months of hospitalization.
She was born May 14, 1916, in Isle of Palms, S.C., a daughter of John and Julia Thompson Bowers. She was employed by Harriss and Covington Hosiery for several years and was a homemaker. She loved her family and was a member of Archdale Wesleyan Church and a former Sunday school teacher. She was married to Edward McKay Farlow, who on Sept. 6, 1999, preceded her in death.
Surviving are a son, Ed Farlow and his wife, Linda, of Ether; a daughter, Tana Dawson and her husband, Tom, of Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, Edward “E” Farlow, Tyler Dawson, Nikki Dawson and Preston Dawson; a great-granddaughter, Brittany Farlow; and a sister, Edna Osborne of High Point.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Harold C. Davis Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Dale Johnston. Burial will be in Marlboro Friends Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Mozelle Gobble
MIDWAY - Mrs. Mozelle Wagner Gobble, 87, of Midway School Road died 7:40 p.m. March 5, 2000, at The Oaks at Forsyth in Winston-Salem.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Midway United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. tonight at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel.

Ralph Hayes
LEXINGTON - Ralph Alexander Hayes, 75, died March 5, 2000, at Community General Hospital.
He was born July 10, 1924, in Wilkes County, a son of James Franklin and Grace Cave Hayes, who preceded him in death. He was a U. S. Navy veteran and retired from Thomasville Furniture. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Ralph Hayes Trio. On Feb. 11, 1941, he married the former Dallie Simmons, who survives. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Thomas.
Also surviving are; a son, Ralph Alex Hayes and his wife, Linda, of Thomasville; three daughters, Freda Hayes and Juanita Hayes of the residence and Reba Hayes Edelman of Las Vegas; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Estelle Hill of Thomasville; and a brother, Samuel Hayes of Burlington.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point, by the Rev. Wayne Richardson. Burial will be in Holly Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home and other times at 237 John Wright Road.

Jack Hege
THOMASVILLE - Jack Dempsey Hege, 63, of Boots Evan Road died March 5, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
Funeral will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

James Hopper
HIGH POINT - James William Hopper, 55, of 1104 Bridges Drive died March 5, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born Jan. 5, 1945, in California, a son of Walter M. and Doris Linfoot Hopper. He retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and was a member of First Church of Christ. On Aug. 20, 1966, he married the former Kathy Adams, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are a daughter, Kate Hopper of Murray, Ky.; a son, Jameson William Hopper of the residence; a sister, Jean Anderson of Louisville, Ky.; mother-in-law, Kathleen Adams of High Point; three sisters-in-law, Susan McAdams of Franklin, Ind., Debra Adams and Janie Adams, both of High Point; two brothers-in-law Larry McAdams of Franklin, Ind., and Wayne Anderson of Louisville, Ky.; two nephews, Christopher McAdams and Jason Lang; and a niece, Sherry McAdams.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Church of Christ by the Rev. Allen Brown. Entombment will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point.

Verlie James
GREENSBORO - Verlie Mae James, 68, of 1720 Hannaford Road, died March 6, 2000, at Moses Cone Hospital, where she had been a patient 10 days.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Haizlip Funeral Home, High Point.

Clyde Kennedy
THOMASVILLE - Clyde Foy Kennedy, 76, of 607 Unity St. died March 5, 2000, at Beverly Health Care Center.
He was born Sept. 3, 1923, in Davidson County, a son of Clyde Mendenhall and Ora Bodenheimer Kennedy. He was owner and operator of Davidson Mattress Co. of Thomasville. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II as a paratrooper. He was a member of Unity United Methodist Church. He was first married to Dorothy McLemore Kennedy, who preceded him in death in 1969. He was then married to Mildred Casper, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Jim (Tempie) Moseley of Atalanta; a son, Sherlon F. Kennedy and his wife, Joan, of Trinity; a sister, Madge Brown of Seagrove; three grandchildren, Amanda Moseley, Lea Kennedy Richardson and Seth Kennedy; and a great-granddaughter, Zoe Richardson.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery by the Rev. DeForest E. Hillyer Jr. The body will be at J.C. Green & Sons Fuenral Home until the hour of service. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Davidson County, P.O. Box 1941, Lexington, N.C. 27292.

Frank May
DENTON - Frank May, 74, of 1603 Garner Road died March 5, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born April 30, 1925, in Guilford County, a son of Robert Philo and Minnie Black May. He was self employed in the construction business and a veteran of the U.S. Army Corp. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church. On April 27, 1946, he married Miss Parmilee Klass, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are a son, John Robert May of Carolina Beach; a sister, Mrs. Virginia Loy of Swansboro; three granddaughters, Angela Allred, Susan Todd and Nicole May; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Faith Baptist Church by the Rev. Ray Swaney. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home and other times at the residence 1603 Garner Road.

Dorothy McMillan
BECKLEY, W. Va. - Mrs. Dorothy Ida McMillan, 73, died March 67, 2000, at High Point Care Center.
Surviving are a daughter, Deborah McMillan Hussain.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Haizlip Funeral Home.

Agnes Milan
GREENSBORO - Dr. Agnes Lawing Milan, 73, of 4301 River Rock Pointe, died March 1, 2000, at her residence.
She was a native of Lincoln County, and a daughter of Karl Lander and Beulah Philmon Lawing of Lincolnton, who preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Winter Haven High School, Florida and Greensboro College. She received her M.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine and John Hopkins School of Medicine, Baltimore. She completed her residency in pediatrics at Charity Hospital in New Orleans and a fellowship at the Oshner Foundation, New Orleans.
After receiving her master’s degree in public health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, she became director of Maternal Health and Child Welfare, Richmond, Va. She served as a pediatrician for Western Carolina Children’s Center, Morganton until her retirement.
Surviving are two sons, Larry Earl Milan Jr. and his wife, Jane, of Jamestown and Thomas Travis Milan and his wife, Andrea, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two brothers, Dr. Karl Lawing and his wife, Elizabeth, and Dr. Dan Lawing and his wife, Patricia, of Lincolnton; a grandson, Will Milan; and a granddaughter, Mary Milan.
Memorial service will be 12:30 p.m. Sunday, March 12, 2000, at St. Timothy’s United Methodist Church, Guilford Technical Community College, Medlin Building, Jamestown, by the Rev. David Hockett and Dr. Barnes Tatum
Memorials may be directed to St. Timothy’s United Methodist Church, 5228 Hilltop Road, Jamestown, N.C. 27282.
