Edna Keener, 84, of 3518 Asbury Church Road, died Aug. 7, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today in the chapel at Warlick Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Born in Gaston County, she worked for Carlton Mills of Cherryville for over 30 years, and General Shoelace until retirement.
Survivors include her husband, Lee Elliott Keener; and one brother, Olin Sisk of Supply.
Memorials may be made to First Wesleyan Church, 800 N. Pink St., Cherryville, N.C. 28021.

Antonio Haynes
SHELBY - Antonio “Tony” Markeise Haynes, 25, of 408 Clegg Street, died Aug. 6, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Lawndale. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
He was born in Cleveland County.

Aaliyah Williams
SHELBY - Aaliyah Destiny Williams, six-month-old daughter of Trina K. Wright, and Renaldo Williams of 704 South Morgan Street, died Aug. 7, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Welcome Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Webb Memorial Lawns.
Enloe Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Nazaria Robles
Nazaria Robles, 35, of Apartment 125 Massapoag Road, died Aug. 8, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Highland Drive Freewill Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 6 until 7:30 p.m. prior to the service.
Warlick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Robert Henn
Robert Turner Henn, 64, of 513 South Laurel Street, died Aug. 5, 2002. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel at Warlick Funeral Home. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he worked in the banking business and was employed at Comfort Inn.
Survivors include a son, Robert Edwin Henn of Arizona; a sister, Ruth Brower of Florida; and seven grandchildren.

Nasaria Robles
Nasaria Robles, 35, of Apartment 125 Massapoag Road, died Aug. 8, 2002. A funeral service was held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Highland Drive Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Mexico at a later date.
Born in Mexico, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Nemesio Castaneda; a son, Oscar Castaneda; a brother, Antero Robles; and four sisters, Rafaela Robles, Beatris Robles, Bertha Robles, and Reyes Robles.
Warlick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Patrick Howard
Patrick Henry Howard, 74, died Aug. 9, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Macedonia Baptist Church. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
A Corporal with the Army Air Corps, he served in the Korean War stationed in California and Alaska. He worked as a supervisor with General Electric in Hickory until retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Willie Beal Howard; three brothers, Monroe Howard, and S.D. Howard, both of Denver, and Bill Howard of Stanley; and a sister, Ora Beatty of Cary.
Memorials may be made to Macedonia Baptist Church Building Fund, 5286 E. N.C. Hwy. 150, Lincolnton, N.C. 28092; or Harris Hospice Unit, c/o Presbyterian Hospital Foundation, 200 Hawthorne Lane, P.O. Box 33549, Charlotte, N.C. 28233.

James Bisanar
GASTONIA - James McCorkle Bisanar, 87, of Courtland Terrace, died Aug. 8, 2002. A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church of Gastonia where he was a member. A private Burial followed.
Born in Lincoln County, she was the co-owner of J&J Electrical Contractors, and founded Jim Bisanar Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Inc. where he worked until retirement. He was a member of the Claude Moser Sunday School class at his church, and served on the property committee for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Neil Howard Bisanar; a son, Robert Bisanar of Charlotte; a daughter, Judy B. Stuart of Greensboro; three sisters, Rose Bowden, and Lelia Julienne, both of Gastonia, and Marjorie Stedman of Davidson; two grandchildren, Greg Stuart and Jeff Stuart; and one great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 190 E. Franklin Blvd., Gastonia, N.C. 28052.

Ella Ree Haynes
Ella Ree “Granny” Mahala Haynes, 80, of 3351 Long Shoals Road, died Aug. 9, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Reepsville Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.
Born in Ashe County, she was employed with Cochrane Furniture until retirement.
Survivors include four sons, David Haynes of High Shoals, Buster Haynes, Pete Haynes, and Jimmy Haynes, all of Lincolnton; two daughters, Sally H. Lane of Vale and Barbara H. Ward of Lincolnton; a sister, Irene Price of Creston; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Young of Heart, Reepsville Baptist Church, 1513 Alf Hoover Rd., Vale, N.C. 28168.

Eva Goforth
NEWTON - Eva Mae Cooper Goforth, 86, of 3999 Helderman Road, died Aug. 10, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. today at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church where she was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:30 until 4 p.m.
Born in Lincoln County, she worked in the furniture industry until retirement.
Survivors include two sons, George Goforth and Jerry Goforth, both of Maiden; three daughters, Faye Goforth Harris of Maiden, Kaye Goforth Bost of Sherrills Ford, and Pansey Goforth Helderman of Newton; a sister, Barbara Cooper Willis of Maiden; 18 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Bruce Metz
DENVER - Bruce Bernice Metz, 82, of Stanley Total Living Center, died Aug. 10, 2002. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. today at Salem United Methodist Church.
Born in Newberry, S.C., he was a U.S. Navy WWII veteran, serving in the Pacific, England, and North Africa. He was employed with Burlington Industries in Cramerton for 40 years, and was a breeder of exotic birds for over 60 years.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Kitchings Metz; a daughter, Miriam Robinette of Denver; a brother Kenneth Metz of Cramerton; one grandchild, Tina Robinette; and one great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church Building Fund, 378 N. Pilot Knob Rd., Denver, N.C. 28037.

K. Mauney Sr.
ALEXIS - Kenneth Lee Mauney Sr., 72, of 247 Alexis-Lucia Road, died Aug. 12, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Alexis Baptist Church where he was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at Carothers Funeral Home.
Born in Lincoln County, he was a member of the Alexis Volunteer Fire Department for 21 years where he also served as Chief, and worked with Safeway Removals until retirement.
Survivors include two sons, Ken Mauney Jr. of Iron Station, and David Mauney of Lincolnton; two daughters, Barbara Ford of Alexis, and Denise Boyce of Cherryville; a brother, Sidney Mauney of Stanley; a sister, Carol McGinnis of Alexis; four grandchildren, Trina Brown, Stephen Ford Jr., Dustin Ford, and Christy Fisher and four great-grandchildren.

Robert Hilker
CORNELIUS - Robert Richard Hilker, 75, died Aug. 12, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bethel Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 8:30 at Raymer Funeral Home.
Born in Winston-Salem, he served in the U.S. Navy and established Cablevision Companies in Gaston County and the Lake Norman area as well at Charlotte television station WJZY-TV. He was past Chairman of the National Association of Broadcasters Radio Board, served on the boards of numerous national broadcasting associations and civic organizations and was inducted into the N.C. Broadcasters Hall of Fame
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Christy Hilker; a son, Robert Richard Hilker Jr. of Efferson; two daughters, Carolyn Hilker Summerlin of Augusta, Ga., and Janet Hilker of Melborne, Australia; two step-daughters, Linda Dyer of River Hills, S.C., and Cathy Evans of Phoenix, Ariz.; and four grandchildren.

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga.- Coleen Brooks Gold, 71, formerly of Cherryville, died Aug. 12, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Cherryville where she was a member. Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6 until 8 at Carpenter’s Funeral Home.
Born in Cleveland County, she attended First Methodist Church and worked for Ferguson Hardware and Dellinger Jewelry until retirement.
Survivors include two sons, David Randall Jr., and Doug Randall, both of Lawrenceville, Ga.; two daughters, Donna Randall of Gainesville, Fla., and Rhonda Gold Harrelson of Ft. Mill, S.C.; a brother, Wally Brooks of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Shirley B. McGinnis of Cherryville; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Oeland Reece
TAMPA, Fla. - Oeland Putnam Reece, 99, formerly of Lincolnton, N.C., died July 16, 2002. A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Lincolnton, where she was a member.
Born in Cleveland County, she was a member of the Jacob Forney Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and taught school in North Carolina and Florida until retirement.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Reece Johnson of Tampa, Fla.; three grandchildren, Jan Reece Johnson Gorrie, Thomas F. Johnson, and Robert Reece Byers; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 114 W. Main St., Lincolnton, N.C. 28092.
