HUNTERSVILLE - Mae Elizabeth Love Lentz, 96, died Jan. 24, 2003. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Oakwood Cemetery in Concord. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 tonight at Raymer Funeral Home.
Born in Cabarrus County, she was a member of Huntersville Church of God and retired from the Locke Mill in Concord.
Survivors include three sons, Wayne Lentz of Huntersville; Lewis E. Lentz Jr. of Concord, and James Robert Lentz of Salisbury; a daughter, Joyce M. Lovette of Huntersville; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Dan Gordon
BADIN - Dan Reid Gordon, 58, of 93-A Valley Drive, died Jan. 25, 2003. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Badin United Methodist Church where he was a member. The family will receive friends after the service at the church.
Born in Forest City, he was a branch manager with Branch Bank and Trust in Denver, was a U.S. Air Force Vietnam veteran, a member of the Friendship Masonic Lodge No. 388 of Boiling Springs, and a member of the Stanly County Country Club.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Jean Huffsteller Gordon; three sons, William “Ed” Gordon of March Air Force Base, Ca., William “Eric” Gordon of Belmont, and Robert Appling of Medina, Ohio; a daughter, Deborah Brannan of Concord; three brothers, Ed Gordon, Dean Gordon, and James T. Gordon, all of Forest City; and four sisters, Ola Shgtle and Hazel Rogers of Forest City, Rose Johnson of Nashville, Tenn., and Myrlie Barrier of Alaska; and six grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 North First St., Albemarle, N.C 28001 or Badin United Methodist Church, PO Box 337, Badin, N.C. 28009-0337.

Daniel Caudill
Daniel Huston “Boone” Caudill, 37, died Jan. 23, 2003. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. today at Riverbridge Church. Burial followed in the Caudill family cemetery.
Born in High Point, he was a self-employed carpenter.
Survivors include his wife Jeanna Hubble Caudill; a daughter, Teresa Ann Caudill of Statesville; a son, Mark Ira Caudill of the home; two step-sons, John Anthony Blevins and Davey Alan Blevins, both of Chilhowie, Va.; his parents, Ira and Jearline Kimberlin Caudill of Meadowview, Va.; a brother, Ivan Caudill of Meadowview, Va.; three sisters, Sherry LaMacchia of Cherryville, and Judy Wakefield and Anna Guinn, both of Meadowview, Va.

Charles McSwain
CHERRYVILLE - Charles Lester McSwain, 69, of 5803 Flay Road, died Jan. 25, 2003. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Bess Chapel United Methodist Church where he was a member. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Tuesday at Warlick Funeral Home in Lincolnton.
Born in Lincoln County, he retired after 37 years at Westvaco in Gastonia, was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran, a member of the American Legion Post #30 in Lincolnton, and a member of the Gaston County VFW.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Brittain McSwain ; two daughters, Vickie Hovis of Lincolnton and Robin Heafner of Iron Station; and his mother, Annie Bess McSwain of Lincolnton.
Memorials may be made to Bess Chapel United Methodist Church Chime Fund, 2741 Hwy. 274, Cherryville, N.C. 28021.

Jettie Cody
Jettie Sain Cody, 91, of the Heath House in Lincolnton, died Jan. 23, 2003. A funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Born in Lincoln County, she was a retired Ivey’s Department Store salesperson.
Survivors include a son, Teddy Allen Carmichael Sr. of DeLand, Fla.; a brother, Coye Sain of Vale; two sisters, Lois Shull of Newton and Vivian Carpenter of Cherryville; and two grandchildren, Kristie White and Teddy Allen Carmichael Jr.

Olin Randall
CHERRYVILLE - Olin V. Randall, 85, of 111 Harrilson Road, formerly of 3450 Tryon Courthouse Road, died Jan. 27, 2003. A graveside service was held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at City Memorial Cemetery.
Born in Gaston County, he was a retired supervisor with Fairfield Textile and Glove Co., Inc. and was a U.S. Army WWII veteran. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a member of the Men’s Bible Class.
Survivors include his wife, Elouise Stroupe Randall; a daughter, Libby Edwards of Mt. Holly; a sister, Jo Franklin of Saluda; and one grandson, Ben Edwards of Raleigh.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 600 N. Pink St., Cherryville, N.C. 28021.

AVONDALE - Margaret Taylor Garrett, 76, of Avondale Estates, Ga., died Jan. 20, 2003. A funeral service was held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Avondale First Baptist Church.
Born in Lincoln County, she was retired from Decatur Federal Savings & Loan after 20 years.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas J. Garrett; a son, Michael T. Garrett of Oakton, Va.; two daughters, Pam Hereford of Snellville and Donna Bates of Loganville; a sister, Marie Warlick of Charlotte; a brother, Charles Taylor of Lincolnton; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Frances Haynes
CHERRYVILLE - Frances Corn Haynes, 77, of 218 Tot Dellinger Road, died Jan. 27, 2003. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today at Shady Grove Baptist Church where she was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 prior to the service at the church family life center.
Born in Cleveland County, she was a retired Rhyne-Houser Manufacturing Company winder and was in the choir at her church.
Survivors include a son, Tommy Haynes of Kings Mountain; a brother, Joe Corn of Lowell; and two grandchildren, Jodi Hofberg and Eric Haynes.

Born in Cleveland County, he was a member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church in Kings Mountain and was employed by Carolina Freight Carriers as a mechanic for 26 years.
Survivors include his parents, Garland P. and Lois Mauney Pruett of Cherryville; a son Derek Pruitt of Cherryville; a daughter, Julie P. Brittain of Cherryville; two grandchildren, Matthew and Hunter Brittain; and a brother, Steve Ray Pruett of Shelby.

Michael Wallace
CHARLOTTE - Michael James Wallace, 33, of 5016 Rocky River Road, died Jan. 26, 2003. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Burke Mortuary Chapel in Newton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Born in Kanawha County, W. Va., he was a plumber with Centex Construction.
Survivors include his father, William Richard Wallace of Charlotte; his mother and step-father, Richard and Kathy Forgette of Newton; and a brother, William Rusty Wallace of Newton.

Frances Lingerfelt
VALE - Frances Jean Sigmon Lingerfelt, 59, of 321 Rockdale Road, died Jan. 28, 2003. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hebron United Methodist Church where she was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 tonight at Stamey Funeral Home in Fallston.
Born in Lincoln County, she was a retired Carolina Freight Carriers secretary and, at her church, was a choir member and former secretary.
Survivors include her husband, Carroll Lingerfelt; two brothers, Fred Sigmon of Charlotte and Steve Sigmon of Lincolnton; and a sister, Betsy Morrison of Cherryville.

Helen Weymouth
Helen Kuntz Weymouth, 91, died Jan. 28, 2003. A family memorial service will be held in Maine.
Born in Shattuck, Okla., she practiced law in Kansas and Washington, D.C. and served on the legal team responsible for establishing the Social Security System. She also taught school for 16 years. She was involved in Christian Ministries, tutoring in the Literacy Council and was an active supporter of the Lincoln County YMCA.
Survivors include two sons, Kent Weymouth of Wayne, Pa. and Robert Weymouth of Bethesda, Md.; two daughters, Dr. Charlotte Gallagher of West Chester, Pa. and Dorothy Osborne of North Bruswick, N.J.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Thomas Huss Jr.
LONG NECK, Del. - Thomas R. Huss Jr., 48, of Long Neck, Del., formerly of Lincolnton, died Jan. 29, 2003. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services. Burial will be private at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery South.
He was employed as a truck driver for Thoro-good Concrete Company in Millsboro and was a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Linda B. Huss; a son Joshua Brandon Huss of Millsboro; a daughter, Ashley Rae Huss of the home; his parents, Tommy R. and Beverly Huss; a brother, Frank Huss of North Carolina; two sisters, Lynn Milton and Melissa Humphries, both of North Carolina; and two granddaughters, Kayla Maree and Emma Belle.
