SANFORD — Henry Clarence Poe, 87, of Sanford, died July 2, 2003. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Buffalo Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 tonight at the church.
He was born in Cumnock NC.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Nall Poe; two daughters, Judith Cancellaro of Johnson City, Tenn. and Sarah Ribeiro of Holden, Mass.; two sons, Ronald Poe of Denver and Anthony Poe of Sanford; one brother, Everette Poe of Asheboro; two sisters, Nellie Burns of Carthage and Jean Harris of Asheboro; nine grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Sanford Building Fund, 202 Summit Drive, Sanford, NC 27330 or Community Home Care and Hospic, 1514 S. Horner Blvd., Sanford, NC 27330.

Dennis Revels
VALE — Dennis Elbert Revels, 50, of 2795 Cat Square Road, died July 5, 2003. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Hoyle Memorial Christian Fellowship Church, where he was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 tonight at Stamey Funeral Home.
Born in Spartanburg, SC, he was employed by Hickory Business Furniture and a self employed painter.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Mae Thomas Revels of the home; three daughters, Dana Baxter of Vale, Lynn Davis of Greenville, SC and Tracy Revels of Greer, SC; three step-sons, Jamie Rudisill of Lincolnton, Scott Rudisill of Vale and Stacy Rudisill of Hendersonville; one brother, David Revels of Greenville, SC; three sisters, Marlene Shuford of Clover, SC, Particia Lee of Duncan, SC and Jo Ann Lopez of Lyman, SC and 11 grandchildren.

Robert Amos
NEWTON — Robert Edwin Amos, 83, of 638 West 7th Street, died July 6, 2003. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Burke Mortuary. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Born in Gilford County, he was a former Parole Officer with the State, a WWII U.S. Navy veteran, a member of American Legion Post 16 and a member of Beth Eden Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Campbell Amos of the home; two sons, Rev. William “Bill” Amos of Duluth, Minn. and Dr. Jack Edwin Amos of Greensboro; one daughter, Jill Link of Newton; two sisters, Beatrice Brownell of Pa. and Fredda Brown of Newton; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to American Legion Post 16, S. US 321, Newton, NC 28658.

W. Blackburn
CLAREMONT — Wayne Kenneth Blackburn, 16, of 3275 White Oak Court, died July 5, 2003. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Oxford Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 tonight at Burke Mortuary.
Born in Cumberland County, he was a student at Camden Military Academy.
Survivors include his mother, Patricia “Trish” Campbell of Statesville; father, Kenneth Wayne Blackburn of Fayetteville; grandparents, Linda and James Lisenby of Lafayette, Ala., Raymond Higginbotham of Elberton, Ga. and Ruth Blackburn of Fayetteville and great-grandmother, Jewette Higginbotham of Elberton, Ga.
Memorials may be made to Camden Military Academy, 520 Hwy. 1 North, Camden, SC 29020.

Betty Hawkins
Betty Walker Hawkins, 80, of 709 South Madison St., died July 5, 2003. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
Born in Gaston County, she was a retired textile worker.
Survivors include one son, Robert Earl Hawkins of Charlotte; one daughter, Judy L. Liner of Lincolnton; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Lincoln County, 107 North Cedar Street, Lincolnton, NC 28092.

John Hughes
John Robert Hughes, 65, of 1890 Arrowood Lane, died July 3, 2003. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Roseland Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Born in Lincoln County, he was retired from the textile industry.
Survivors include one son, Christopher M. Hughes of Lincolnton; two daughters, Debbie H. Reep and Shelley H. Jordan both of Lincolnton; three brothers, Bill Hughes and Danny Hughes both of Lincolnton and Jim Hughes of Smyrna, Tenn.; three sisters, Ruth Colvard, Jane Warlick and Betty Avery all of Lincolnton and three grandchildren, Joshua Gilbert, Clint McCorkle and Christina Reep.

Demetri Downs
SHELBY — Demetri Jarquis “Metri” Downs, 20, of 106 Ella Street, died July 2, 2003. Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. today at Antioch Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Webb Memorial Lawns. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3 p.m. at the church today.
Enloe Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Jerry Pollock
Jerry Rhyne Pollock, 48, of 3725 Gastonia Highway, died July 6, 2003.
Born in Cleveland County he worked in the textile industry.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Lawing Pollock of the home; parents, Bob and Joyce Pollock of Lincolnton; two brothers, Jimmy Pollock of Newton and Jeff Pollock of Baltimore, Md.; two sisters, Patti Woody of Maiden and Peggy Smith of Newton.
Arrangements are incomplete at Warlick Funeral Home.

S. Caldwell
NEWTON — Shirley Mae Eaves Caldwell, 66, of 2282 Rome Jones Road, died July 7, 2003. A private funeral service will be held at a later date. Burial will follow at East View Cemetery.
She was born in Gaston County.
Survivors include two sons, Wayne Caldwell of Shelby and Ronald Caldwell of Newton; one sister, Brenda Eaves Fite of Kings Mountain and three grandchildren, Wesley, Heather and Patrick.

He was born in Cleveland County.
Survivors include two sons, James Bowen of Casar and Ira Bowen of Lawndale; one daughter, Sheila Self of Lincolnton; four brothers, Jimmy Bowen and Ronnie Bowen both of Grover, Roger Bowen of Patterson Springs and Harold Jackson of Shelby; one sister, Betty Bowen of Grover and five grandchildren, Ashley Bowen, Jennifer Bowen, Amie Bowen, Chelsie Bowen, and Josh Self.

E. Sigmon
DENVER — Elizabeth “Lib” Sherrill Sigmon, 84, of Hwy. 150 East, died July 6, 2003. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Born in Catawba County she was a former dietitian at Lowrance Hospital and a homemaker.
Survivors include seven sons, Wendell “Gene” Sigmon, Jessie Sigmon, Mark Sigmon, Cecil Sigmon, Marshall Sigmon, David Sigmon and Clyde Sigmon; three daughters, Nancy Bell, Janie Sigmon and Freddie Canady; one brother, Butler “Bud” Sherrill; one sister, Peggy Sherrill Wilson; 26 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Born in Lincoln County she was retired from Talon Manufacturing, a member of the Golden Years Choir at First Baptist Church and was the secretary of the Sunday School Program at Fellowship Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Garland Vance Lail of Alexis; two daughters, Rebecca Potter of Lincolnton and Patricia Lail of Alexis; six sisters, Pauline Oates, Elaine Bumgarner, Ruth Homesley and Cynthia Simmons all of Stanley and Novella Lineberger and Betty Laye both of Dallas and two grandchildren, Angela Baker and Robert Smith.
