Nettie Faye Dawkins Huddleston, 84, of Lincoln Nursing Center and formerly of Shelby, died April 8, 2003. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Shoal Creek Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Born in Cowpens, S.C., she was a member of New High Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Denise Eskridge of Shelby and Carolyn Webber of Okeechobee, Fla.; a son, William Huddleston Jr. of Lincolnton; six grandchildren, Victor “Britt” Huddleston, Camron Huddleston, Wayne Howell Jr., Aaron Webber, Myron Webber and LaMia H. Lyons; and 10 grandchildren.
Enloe Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Robert Mickey
DENVER — Robert R. “Bob” Mickey, 57, of 7988 Lakeview Drive, died April 8, 2003. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lake Norman Lutheran Church where he was a member. Burial will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Calvary Episcopal Church cemetery in Arden.
Born in Surry County, he was retired after 30 years of service with NC DMV. He was a third party CDL tester and developed the driver education program at Transtech, Inc. in Conover.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila Nesbitt Mickey; five sisters, Mary Holt of Pinnacle, Martha Garrison of Clemmons, Ruby Embler and Ellen Hodges, both of Winston-Salem, and Ann Winstead of Whitsett; and three brothers, Wayne Mickey of Kings Mountain, Ron Mickey of Lexington and David Mickey of Winston-Salem.

Eddie Jefferies
Eddie Ray Jefferies, 43, of 218 Mauney Drive, died April 9, 2003. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Zion Hill Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
Born in Cleveland County, he served in the U.S. Army and worked for Hayworth Comforto.
Survivors include his wife, Stella Clark Jefferies; two sons, Eddie Ray Jefferies of the home and Eric Ray Jefferies of Seattle, Wash.; three daughters, Angelica R. Jefferies, Alyssa R. Jefferies and Alaethra R. Jefferies, all of the home; mother, Geneva M. Jefferies of Cherryville; two brothers, Kenneth Jefferies and Fredrick Jefferies, both of Vale; four sisters, Betty J. Mauney and Genet J. Phillips, both of Shelby, Dorothy J. Horne of Lincolnton and Ressie Jefferies of Cherryville.

Marshall Grigg
Marshall Junior Grigg, 75, of 2095 Lithia Springs Road, died April 10, 2003. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel at Warlick Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Born in Catawba County, he was retired from J.P. Stevens.
Survivors include his wife, Christine Williams Grigg; a daughter, Debbie Schronce of Lincolnton; a brother, Edmond A. Grigg of Vale; a sister, Louise Dion of Grand Island, Fla.; a granddaughter, Jennifer McGinnis of Denver; and one great-grandson.

E. Carmie Houser
Mr. E. Carmie Houser, age 95 of 3294 Paul Elmore Road in Lincolnton died Wednesday, April 9, 2003 at home.
His funeral will be 4:00 p.m. Friday at Bethphage Lutheran Church with Pastor John Bell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family received friends Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mr. Houser was born on June 26, 1907 in Lincoln County to the late C. O. Houser and Fannie Hoover Houser. Mr. Houser was a retired farmer.
Survivors include: wife, Elaine Byers Houser of the home; two sons, Dan Houser and wife Gilda of Lincolnton, NC; Bill Houser and wife, Emma of Crouse, NC.

Moses Hughes
HIGH SHOALS — Moses C. “Chief” Hughes, 76, of 137 Church St., died April 12, 2003. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in High Shoals Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at the funeral home.
Born in Rome, Ga., he was retired from Burlington Industries and was an Army veteran who served during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Cloninger Hughes; a son, Joe C. Hughes of High Shoals; a daughter, Cheryl Ann Dover of Dallas; a brother, Jerry Hughes of Roswell, Ga.; three sisters, Huldah H. Padgett of Chattanooga, Tenn., Ruth H. Gore and Dorothy H. Waycaster, both of Lincolnton; and a granddaughter, Leah E. Dover.

Harvey Holbrooks
GASTONIA — Harvey Holbrooks, 68, of 1326 Shady Nook Circle, died April 11, 2003. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Warlick Funeral Home Chapel.
Born in Lincoln County, he was a truck driver and a self-employed residential painter. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean War.
Survivors include his mother, Lona Holbrooks of Vale; a sister, Brenda Hudson of Vale; two daughters, Debbie Boyles of Virginia and Suzette Holbrooks of Lincolnton; three grandchildren, Emily Boyles and Jessica Drawdy, both of Lincolnton, and Laura oyles of Norfolk, Va.; and one great-grandchild.

Michael Rutherford
Michael Lee Rutherford, 53, of 200 Falconview Road, died April 12, 2003. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Webbs Chapel Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Born in Cabell County, W.Va., he was a dairy farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Farris Rutherford; two sons, Mike Rutherford of Wilmington and Mark Rutherford of Bessemer City; a daughter, Andrea R. Eller of Raleigh; his mother, Norma Overby Rutherford of Patriot, Ohio; a brother, Allen Rutherford of Patriot, Ohio; and six grandchildren, Casey Bowen, Ricky Shahid, Lance Shahid, Shane Eller, Mattie Rutherford and Morgan Rutherford.

Born in Sylva, she was a retired winder with Hardin Manufacturing Company after 37 years of service.
Survivors include two sons, William Rayfield and Troy Rayfield, both of Dallas; two daughters, Irene Tindall of Dallas and Cathy Patterson of Kings Mountain; three brothers, Felix Green, Bufford Green and Neil Green, all of Darrington, Wash.; seven sisters, Evelyn Beam of Everett, Wash., Kathleen Gunter of Yakima, Wash., Beulah Littrel of Smokey Point, Wash., Pauline Jones of Darrington, Wash., Eva Gates of Whittier, Eula Brooks of Dillsboro and Jheri Wood of Morganton; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Born in Charlotte, he was an associate member of Fancy Gap United Methodist Church in Fancy Gap, Va.
Survivors include her wife, Peggy Frazier Mozeley; a son, Chris Mozeley of Denver; a daughter, Ann Goode of Mooresville; three stepdaughters, Suzan Bowers, Lisa Wallace and Darla Earnhardt; a brother, D.R. Mozeley; a sister, Eleanor Plummer of Charlotte; four grandchildren, HannahMozeley, Tucker Mozeley, Nick Goode and Noah Goode; and a step-grandson, Jason Bowers.

Born in Lincoln County, he worked as a civil engineer for Duke Power Company for 25 years.
Survivors include his wife, Connie M. Engle; a son, Guy “Jeremy” Engle of the home; a daughter, Buffy Danielle Engle of the home; a brother, Charles Junior Engle of Vale; and parents, Charles Esper Engle and Mary Nell Bradshaw Engle of Lincolnton.

Robert Wilkinson
Robert David Wilkinson, 76, of 4087 Asbury Church Road, died April 11, 2003. The funeral was at 2 p.m. Sunday at E.F. Drum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Born in Catawba County, he was a retired mechanic with J.P. Stevens in Stanley. He was employed with Wilkinson Feed in Dallas, was a member of Iron Station United Methodist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include two daughters, Susie Wilkinson Houk of Lincolnton and Debbie Wilkinson Woods of Charlotte; a son, Ken Wilkinson; five grandchildren, Justin Ellis, Jake Wilkinson, Ethan Wilkinson, Dustin Woods and Tyler Woods; and two great-grandsons.

Born in Lincoln County, she was retired from Talon Zipper.
