William F Welfare Jr. AUGUSTA, GA. -- William Franklin "Bill" Welfare Jr., 82, died Thursday. Memorial services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel in Evans, Ga. Welfare, a Wilson, N.C., native, was a pilot in the Army Air Corps in World War II and founded Snow Hill Milling Co. in Greene County in 1948. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and chairman of the finance committee for many years. He served on the Production Credit Board for 23 years. He was a member of the Snow Hill Rotary Club and a member of the board of directors of Wachovia Bank in Snow Hill. He served as chairman of the Greene Central School Committee for many years.
