Hospital in Rocky Mount.

  Sarah Patrick, 86, a resident of the Carver Living Center in Durham, formerly  
of Farmville, died Wednesday.
  The funeral will be conducted by the Eldress Carolyn Ward at 2 p.m. Sunday at  
the Hamilton Funeral Chapel. The burial will follow in the Rest Haven Cemetery.
  Surviving is a sister, Hattie Singleton of Durham.
  The body may be viewed today from 3-9 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel. A wake  
will be held from 1-2 p.m. Sunday, and the family will receive friends at other  
times at 305 Perry St. in Farmville, where they will assemble an hour prior to  
the wake.

  Surviving are her husband, James Edward 'Ed' Newton; three sons, Jim Newton of  
Ft. Myers, Fla., Billy Newton of Wilson, and Jerry Newton of Baltimore, Md.; two  
brothers, Jessie J. Wilkins of Raleigh and Clyde C. Wilkins of Wilson; seven  
grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Magdalene M. Jones
  Magdalene Manning Jones, 71, died Thursday.
  The funeral will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the Wilkerson Funeral  
Chapel. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park.
  Jones, a native of Greene County, was a graduate of Snow Hill High School. She  
lived in Kinston and Wilson prior to moving to Pitt County in 1963.
  Surviving are her son, Dennis Jones of Greenville; two daughters, Joyce J.  
Miller of Ayden and Karen Villagran of Wilmington; three sisters, Alma M. Moore  
of Wilson, Margie M. Hart of Ayden, and Barbard M. Pollard of Greenville; three  
brothers, James E. Manning of Walstonburg, George "Pete" Manning of Durham, and  
Harrell Manning of New Bern; and six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

result of an automobile accident Sunday. A private service will be held at a  
later date.
  Thomas was retired from the United States Air Force and served in Desert  
Storm.
  Surviving are a daughter, Crystal Michelle Thomas Taylor of Jacksonville,  
N.C., a son, Lee Regdon Thomas of Wilson, N.C.; his mother, Mary Faye Phillips  
Thomas of Wilson; and a brother, Jeffrey Lynn Thomas of Goldsboro.

at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church of Garden City. A  
graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Dighton Memorial Cemetery,  
Dighton.
  Surviving are his wife, Rita Townsend; one daughter, Nancy Bell of Leadville,  
Colo.; three sons, Robert Townsend, Redlands, Calif., Steve Townsend of  
Evanston, Ill., and Mark Townsend of Muncie, Ind.; one brother, Jack Townsend of  
Wilson, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

  Surviving are his wife; one daughter, three sons; three stepsons; one sister;

  KENLY -- Willie LeRoy "Roy" Pope of 3041 Piney Church Road died Saturday at his  
home. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. Jerry Andrews and Elder D.B. Stokes  
at 11 a.m. today in the chapel at Coley Funeral Home. Burial followed in the  
Pope Family Cemetery.
  Pope was owner of Rains Auto Supply of Kenly, a member of Kenly Church of God  
and was a retired Kenly volunteer fireman.
  Surviving are his wife, Jean Creech Pope; a daughter, Kimberly Scott of  
Lucama; a son, Timothy LeRoy Pope of Nashville; his parents, Leland Pope and

where she was a member of the Mother Board. She was also a member of the Mother  
Board of the Original Free Will Baptist Conference.
  Surviving are four daughters, Margaret Braswell of the home, Jaunita  
Richardson and Elder Barbara Braswell, both of Bailey, and Virginia Woodard of  
Wilson; two sons, David Braswell of Bailey and Ira Braswell of Middlesex; 37  
grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

  She was a former employee of Wilson County Schools, Eckerd Drugs and was a  
home health care nurse. She was a member of St. Rose Church of Christ (Disciples  
of Christ) where she was a member of the No. 2 Usher Board and the Missionary  
Department; and was a member of the Eureka Chapter No. 480 of the Order of the  
Eastern Star.
  Surviving are one son, Timothy Davis of the home; nine sisters, Mattie Davis  
of New York, Ruth Pinkney of Philadelphia, Rebecca Holmes of Saratoga, Doris Gay

  Green was a retired superintendent of buildings and grounds for the Kings Park

Kings Park Fire Department.

Burial Garden, Lane Street extension.
  Murphy was a 1976 graduate of the Ralph L. Fike Senior High School in Wilson.

  A veteran of both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy, Griggs served in the  
Vietnam War with the Army and retired from the Navy.
  Surviving are two daughters, Nina Griggs of Wilson and Jakinda Francis of San  
Mateo, Calif.; two sons, Jamaal Griggs of Atlanta and Kahri Griggs of San Mateo,  
Calif.; five sisters, the Rev. Nancy Camper of Philadelphia, Mary Ann Hutchinson  
of Dallas, Texas, Jo Ann Smith and Linda Titus Booth, both of Amarillo, Texas,  
and Patsy Clark of Wichita Falls, Texas; and two brothers, Milton Griggs and  
Lonnie Griggs, both of Wichita Falls, Texas.
  The body may be viewed today from 3-9:30 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel. The  
family will receive friends at 911 N. Gold St., where they will assemble one  
hour prior to the service in preparation for the funeral procession.
