WEST FORK, ARK. - Perry Lee Keeling, 56, of 204 Ann St., died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, in Springdale, Ark.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Adrian Pugh officiating. Burial will be in Chimney Lane Fellowship Church Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, a truck driver and a U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are wife, Carla Keeling of the home; daughters, Cristinia Keeling, Kerry Keeling, both of the home, Gwendolyn Keeling of West Palm Beach, Fla.; stepdaughters, Ellen Williams of Lakeland, Fla., Trudy Matis of Denton; sons, Robbie Keeling of Thomasville, Ga., Terry Keeling of Fort Erwin, Calif.; father, Milton Keeling of Asheboro; sister, Brenda Whitt of Denton; brother, Jimmy Keeling of Asheboro; six grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Friday, other times at the home of Hoyt and Brenda Whitt, 6699 Farmer Denton Road, Denton.

Jerry M. Short Jr.

GREENSBORO - Jerry Maurice Short Jr., 34, of Pine Ridge Group Home, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, at Watauga Medical Center, Boone.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Forbis & Dick Funeral Home, North Elm Street, Greensboro. Entombment will be in Lakeview Memorial Park.

He was a native of Shelby, retired from Stanton-Cooper Furniture Company, was a U.S. Army veteran, a Canoneer of his class at Fort Sill, Okla., a member of Good Hope Baptist Church and a former coach of the Richard Petty Little League baseball team.

Surviving are parents, Jerry and Mary Ruth Short of Randleman.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Friday, other times at the home of his parents, 345 Colonial Loop, Randleman.

EAGLE SPRINGS - Alice McLeod Thomas, 94, formerly of Eagle Springs, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service was 2 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, with the Rev. Ernest Moore officiating. Burial was in Bensalem Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Montgomery County and a homemaker.

Loice Louise Lambeth VonCannon, 80, of 5348 U.S. 220 Business South, Asheboro, died Friday, Feb. 13, 1998, at a local nursing home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at New Hope United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Harold Hammond officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of James Vernon VonCannon, attended Flag Springs United Methodist Church and was retired from Acme-McCrary Corp.

Surviving are sister, Frances Lambeth of Asheboro; brothers, Clyde Lambeth of Asheboro, Lacy Lambeth of Lexington.

The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, 6-8 p.m. Sunday.

Affie L. Thompson

Affie Lillie Thompson, 93, of Brian Center Health & Rehabilitation Center, Asheboro, died Friday, Feb. 13, 1998, at Mountainview Care Center, Asheboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. A.J. Kendrick officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Anson County, the widow of Claude Alexander Thompson Sr. and a member of First Wesleyan Church.

Surviving are daughters, Ruby Councilman, Betty Rose Parks, Wilma D. Shaw, all of Asheboro, Martha Agnes Boling of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Rebecca Ann Cheek of Ramseur, Vera Mills Carter of Longwood, Fla.; sons, Claude A. Thompson Jr., Harold R. Thompson, both of Asheboro, Raymond R. Thompson of Star; sister, Rose Moore of Wadesboro; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Sunday, other times at the home of Claude A. Thompson Jr., 213 Trotter Lane, Asheboro.

SEAGROVE - Robert Mitchell Hussey, 19, of 5854 Waddell Ferry Road, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998, from injuries received when he was struck by a vehicle.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Riverside Baptist Church, with the Rev. Harold Baker officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Moore County and employed with Ramtex, Inc. in Ramseur.

Surviving are parents, Howard and Sandra Hussey of the home; brothers, Brian Hussey, Shaun Hussey, both of the home; grandparents, Lee and Louella Sullivan of Robbins, J.P. and Marie Setliff of Ramseur; great-grandmother, Thelma Staley of Seagrove.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 7-9 p.m. Sunday, other times at the home.

Wayne R. Crabtree

HIGH POINT - Wayne Roland Crabtree, 70, of 310 Friddle St., died Friday, Feb. 13, 1998, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Robert Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

He was a native of Rockwood, Tenn., and was retired from the City of High Point.

Surviving are wife, Opal Jones Crabtree of the home; daughter, Barbara Ellen Miller of Asheboro; sisters, Elsie Smith of Spring City, Tenn., Maxine Turner of Franklin, Tenn.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

DENTON - Roy West Earnhardt, 85, of 1434 Blaine Road, New London, died Friday, Feb. 13, 1998, at Brian Center Health & Rehabilitation, Asheboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, with the Rev. David Price officiating. Burial will be in Uwharrie United Methodist Church Cemetery.

He was a native of Rowan County, the widower of Kathleen Turner Earnhardt, was a carpenter and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are wife, Vivian Moore Earnhardt of High Point; sons, Roy Lee Earnhardt of New London, Ray Earnhardt of Denton, Robert Earnhardt of Salisbury; daughters, Willa Mae Lamb, Ruby Passmore, Alice Morris, all of New London, Rachel Mabe of Star; stepsons, John Thomas Hurley of Asheboro, Howard J. Hurley of Mount Pleasant, Thurman Moore of High Point; stepdaughters, Joann Hedgecock, Shirley Rule, both of High Point; sisters, Zeater Grubb, Lucy Boggs, Ada Howard, Edna Hoover, all of Salisbury; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Howard K. Loftin

DENTON - Howard K. Loftin, 86, of 1653 Cook Road, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 1998, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Peter McGuire, the Rev. Bob Hughes and the Rev. Mike McClellan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Davidson County and a retired truck driver for Carnation Milk Co.

Surviving are wife, Cleta Loflin Loftin of the home; sons, James Howard Loftin, Charles W. Loftin, Vance S. Loftin, all of Denton; sisters, Lula Davis of Raeford, Jewell Spell of Denton; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, 6-8 p.m. Sunday, other times at the home.

Russell H. Lawson

SILER CITY - Russell Henry Lawson, 74, of 2968 Old 421 North, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998, at Chatham Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Siler City Presbyterian Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Sam McGregor officiating. Burial will be in Chatham Memorial Park.

He was a native of Greenville, S.C., attended Brevard College, retired from Kellwood Corp. in 1980, was a World War II U.S. Marine Corp veteran and was an Elder and choir member at his church.

Surviving are wife, Sue Herndon Lawson; daughters, Susan L. Bussey of Atlanta, Ga., Sherri L. Noftsinger of Acworth, Ga.; sister, Margaret L. Cochran of Rome, Ga.; four grandsons.

Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, is in charge of the arrangements.

CARTHAGE - Colin B. King, 71, formerly of Carthage, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998, at his home in Jacksonville.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Cross Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Kenneth Holt officiating.

He was a native of Moore County and a carpenter.

Surviving is brother, Charles W. King Jr.

Ruby Alice Allred Presnell, 67, of 1233 Randolph Tabernacle Road, Asheboro, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 1998, at her home.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. James Ward officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, a homemaker and attended Asheboro Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Surviving are husband, James "Jim" Presnell of Asheboro; daughter, Christine P. Thornburg of Asheboro; son, Jimmy Presnell of Asheboro; sisters, Maxine Canipe, Mary Moore, Etta Mae Moore, all of Asheboro; brother, Ervin Allred of Randleman.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Monday, other times at the home.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Luther H. Spencer, attended New Covenant Wesleyan Church and formerly attended First Wesleyan Church, Randleman.

Surviving are sons, Ernest Spencer of Greensboro, Cleo Spencer of Sophia; daughters, Nannie Lee Beck of Thomasville, Hazel Spencer of Greensboro, Rachel Ingram of Asheboro, Eva Hancock of Siler City; sister, Lena Walker of Archdale; brother, Charles Walker of Sophia; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

ROBBINS - Worthy Curtis "W.C." Williams, 64, of Grand Rapids, Mich., died Friday, Feb. 13, 1998, at Grand Rapid's Veteran's Home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Tabernacle United Methodist Church, Robbins, where he was a member, with the Rev. Earl Dulaney officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors.

He was a native of Robbins, a U.S. veteran of the Korean conflict, was retired from General Motors, Inc. and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Flint, Mich.

Surviving are sister, Edith Williams Hussey of Robbins; brothers, Roger K. Williams of Kernersville, Paul J. Williams of Robbins.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home of Clarence and Edith Hussey, N.C. 705 South.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Green Grove United Church of God, Star, with Elder Duke officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Surviving are father, Duncan Dunn Sr. of Candor; mother, Eunice Jones of Star; sisters, Faye Ann Dunn of Biscoe, Elizabeth Dunn, Mary Dunn, both of Star; brother, Marvin Dunn of Raleigh.

The family will be at Person-Baker Funeral Home, Robbins, 7-8 p.m. Tuesday.

Grace L. Barbee

GIBSONVILLE - Grace Littlejohn Barbee, 71, formerly of Gibsonville, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 1998, at Mountainview Care Center, Asheboro.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home, Burlington, with the Rev. Jerry Tew and Robert Littlejohn officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.

She was a native of Cleveland, a nurse's aide and member of East Burlington Church of God.

Surviving are daughters, Brenda Garren of Denton, Colleen Horne of Gibsonville; sisters, Louise Lindsay of Burlington, Kathleen Horne of Chickamauga, Ga.; brother, Robert Littlejohn of Burlington; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Monday.

Vickie H. Keenan
Vickie Lynn Hoblick Keenan, 52, of 965 Northshore Drive, Asheboro, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 1998, at her home.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, where she was a member, with the Rev. Jay Hobbs officiating.

She was a native of Dalton, Ohio, and a seamstress and quilter.

Surviving are daughters, Kelli L. Watson of Asheboro, Beth A. Keenan of the home; brother, Kenneth B. Hoblick of DeLeon Springs, Fla.

The family will be at the church following the service.
