RANDLEMAN - Joshua Bynum Brewer, 67, of 1401 Salisbury Ave., Placid Apt., Spencer, formerly of Altamonte Springs, Fla., died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at Veteran's Administration Hospital, Durham.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, with Chaplain Brit Baldwin and the Rev. Bob Southern officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

He was a native of Wilkes County, the widower of Belvia Brewer, a retired employee of J.C. Penney in Altamonte Springs, Fla., a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are sisters, Dorothy B. Whitt of Ramseur, Octavia Jennings of Greensboro; brother, Harlan Brewer of Greer, S.C.; son, Josea T. Brewer of Irvin, Calif.; stepdaughter, Marie Warren of Ramseur; five grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home of Octavia Jennings, 103 E. Steeple Chase Road, Greensboro.

Annette Dumas
MT. GILEAD - Annette Dumas, 49, of 3149 N.C. 73 West, died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Ingram Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, where she was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Richmond County and a former employee of Capel's Rug Company.

Surviving are son, Everette Dumas of Mt. Gilead; daughter, Roneisha Dumas of Mt. Gilead; brothers, Lonnie Dumas of New Haven, Conn., William Dumas and Wilbert Dumas, both of Mt. Gilead; sisters, Mary Ann Ingram of New Haven, Conn., Rowena Smith of Bridgeport, Conn., Sarah Dumas, Ruby Dumas and Susie Watkins, all of Mt. Gilead; three grandchildren.

The family will be at Harris Funeral Home, Mt. Gilead, 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home.

Mae D. McCauley
MT. GILEAD - Mae Ellen Dumas McCauley, 79, of 530 Parkertown Road, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at Stanly Memorial Hospital, Albemarle.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at St. Luke Church of God, with Bishop Vander Purcell officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Mt. Gilead.

She was the widow of James A. McCauley and a retired employee of Council of Aging, Troy.

Surviving are son, Keith Headen of Rockingham.; daughter, Charlotte McCauley of Mt. Gilead; sister, Hazel Pemberton of Mt. Gilead; one granddaughter.

The family will be at McKeithan Funeral Home, Mt. Gilead, 7-8 p.m. Thursday.

Christine G. Spinks
SILER CITY - Christine Glover Spinks of 511 Wrenn Smith Road, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at Chatham Hospital.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Harris Grove A.M..E. Zion Church, with the Rev. David Scotton and the Rev. Curtis Cheek officiating. Burial will be in Chatham Memorial Park.

Surviving are daughter, Denise S. Siler of Siler City; brother, Hurley Glover of Siler City; sister, Fleta Alston of Siler City; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

The family will be at Farrar Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home of Denise Siler, 318 East Ninth St.

Clyde H. Needham Sr.
BENNETT - Clyde Hampton Needham Sr., 57, of 4186 Lambeth Mill Road, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at his home.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur.

Greg L. Ragsdale
CARTHAGE - Greg L. Ragsdale, 38, of 1133 Farmlife School Road, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Yates-Thagard Baptist Church, with Pastor Steve Johnson and Pastor Dan Duncan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Moore County and a farmer.

Surviving are wife, Anita Oakley Ragsdale; daughters, Katie Ragsdale, Jennifer Ragsdale, Rebecca Ragsdale, all of the home; son, James Ragsdale of the home; parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.B. Ragsdale of Carthage; sister, Diane Kelly of Wilmington; grandmother, Mrs. C.L. Ragsdale of Carthage.

The family will be at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home, Carthage, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home.

Yates L. Holland
FOREST CITY - Yates L. Holland, 89, of 1498 Old Caroleen Road, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Gilboa United Methodist Church in Rutherfordton. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Rutherford County, a 1928 graduate of Cool Springs High School in Forest City and received degrees from the University of North Carolina in 1935 and 1950. He was a teacher at Sunshine in Rutherford County and a teacher and principal at Franklinville School in Randolph County. He was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Forest City, and of Franklinville Baptist Church, and a member of the Franklinville and Forest City Lions Clubs and Hanks Masonic Lodge in Franklinville.

Surviving are wife, Louise Deviney Holland; sons, Yates Stephen Holland of Forest City, Jon Ronald Holland of Arden; sister, Sarah H. Thompson of Charlotte; two grandchildren.

The family will be at be at the church 10-11 a.m. Wednesday.

McMahan Funeral Home, Rutherfordton, is in charge of the arrangements.

GATLINBURG, Tenn. - Deanna Siegfried McDougall, 30, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999.

Funeral service was 7 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of Gatlinburg, Tenn., where she was a member, with the Rev. Bill Black and the Rev. Dillard Mynatt officiating. Graveside service will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.

Surviving are husband, William McDougall; children, Brandon Knox, Jordon McDougall and Scott McDougall; father and stepmother, Dennis and Rene Siegfried; mother, Ruth Brower; sisters, Kimberly Jarrell, Danielle Siegfried, Denise Ross and Lisa McClaughlin; brother, Greg Ross.

He was a native of Lee County and a mechanic.

Surviving are wife, Teresa Suggs McLean; daughter, Michelle McLean of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; son, Jeremy McLean of the home; father, Clyde McLean of Sanford; sister, Mary Kay Bailey; brother, Ralph Wilbur McLean of Carthage.

Clyde H. Needham Sr.
BENNETT - Clyde Hampton Needham Sr., 57, of 4186 Lambeth Mill Road, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at his residence.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Loflin Funeral Home Chapel, Ramseur, with the Rev. Bob Boyd officiating. Burial will be in Browns Chapel Christian Church Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County and had worked as a logger.

Surviving are son, Clyde Hampton Needham Jr. of Rockingham; stepdaughter, Keisha L. Nance of Siler City; brothers, A.C. Needham of Seagrove and Bob Needham of Florida; fiancee, Betty Ivey of the home; one grandson.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Guy W. Smith
LIBERTY - Guy W. Smith, 84, of 532 W. Starmount Ave., died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at his residence.

Graveside service with Masonic rites will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Fairview Cemetery in Liberty.

He was a native of Randolph County, a member of the First United Methodist Church of Liberty, a charter member and past Master of Liberty Masonic Lodge 714, past Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 66, past director and former president of Liberty Savings and Loan, a former Liberty town commissioner, past president of the Liberty Lions Club and retired superintendent with Liberty Hosiery.

Surviving are wife, Barbara Kirkman Smith of the home; daughter, Gwen Hewitt of Ardmor, Pa.; son, James W. Smith of Emerald Isle; sisters, Lucille S. Loflin of Staley, Daile S. Lineberry of Liberty and Rosa Sharpe of Siler City; brothers, John Robert Smith of Charlotte and Ben Smith of Siler City; one granddaughter.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty, 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Jo Ann Stultz Ferrell, 66, of 3256 Old Lexington Road, Asheboro, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at her home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Ray Lambe officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Asheboro, attended Back Creek Friends Meeting, and owned and operated Hills Day Care for 18 years.

Surviving are husband, James Ferrell; daughters, Pam F. Yates and Patty F. Hill, both of Asheboro, Brandy L. Comer of Atlanta, Ga., and Sandy L. Davis of Greensboro; brothers, Gary Stultz and Tommy Stultz, both of Asheboro; sister, Linda S. King of Asheboro; three grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Friday.

SNOW HILL - Virginia Sugg Jabbusch, 77, of Route 6, Box 174, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, in Siler City.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Rainbow United Methodist Church Cemetery in Snow Hill with the Rev. Paul Harris officiating. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Merrimon United Methodist Church in Beaufort.

She was a native of Greene County, a former Miss Kinston and owner of Park Beauty Salon.

Surviving are husband, Arthur J. Jabbusch of Snow Hill; son, John A. Jabbusch of Siler City; daughter, Denise Marie Jabbusch of Graham; one granddaughter.

Rebecca V. Wood
FRANKLINVILLE - Rebecca Vickrey Wood, 97, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, at Asheboro Health and Rehabilitation.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Loflin Funeral Home Chapel, Ramseur, with the Rev. Charlie Miller and the Rev. Dan Wood officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Randolph County, retired from Randolph Mills and a member of First Baptist Church of Franklinville.

Surviving are son, William Robert Wood Sr. of Biscoe; daughters, Dorothy Lee York of Climax and Doris Greene of Ramseur; sister, Virginia Routh of Liberty; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; nine stepgreat-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Friday and other times at the home of Doris Greene, 565 N.C. 22 North, Ramseur.

Josie H. Cagle
SEAGROVE - Josie Hancock Cagle, 84, of 492 Cagle Road, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at her residence.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Union Grove Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Ron Copple officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Moore County and a homemaker.

Surviving are daughters, Linda Cagle, Pat Ray and Mable Simmons, all of Seagrove, and Anne Ziegler of Asheboro; sisters, Mary H. Cagle of Seagrove and Ann Baldwin of Asheboro; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

David Leonard Freeman, 52, of 2337 Shady Williams Drive, Asheboro, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, at his home.

He was a Vietnam War veteran and employed with Shaw Furniture in Randleman.

Williams of Asheboro; stepdaughter, Susan Edmonds of Asheboro; stepsons, Joseph Overman and Danny York, both of Asheboro, and Chris York of Whiteville; one grandchild.

Edgar S. "Red" Leonard, 75, of 874 N.C. 49 S., Asheboro, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, at Asheboro Health and Rehabilitation.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Charlotte United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Steve Wood and the Rev. Sonny Reavis officiating. Burial will be in Bethasda Cemetery in Aberdeen.

He was a retired Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army, served in the 82nd Airborne and 5th Special Forces Group and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War.

Surviving are wife, Irene Deaton Leonard; daughters, Sharon Andrews of Callville, Wash., and Kathy Leonard of Greensboro; sons, Eddie Leonard of Carthage, Johnny Leonard of Atlanta, Ga., and Lanny Leonard of Pinehurst; stepsons, James Deaton of Randleman and Buster Deaton of Asheboro; stepdaughters, Mildred T. She was a native of Virginia, ran a computer-based business from her home, and was a member of the North Carolina Arabian Horse Association.

Surviving are husband, Danny Frank Weese; daughters, Cynthia Lebermann Stoute of Louisiana and Danielle Marie Weese of the home; sons, Terry Gene Lebermann II of the U.S. Navy and Michael Andrew Weese of the home; mother, Cynthia K. Massie of Amhurst, Va.; father, Kenneth Burrell of Houston, Texas; sister, Inez A. Eagle of Lynchburg, Va.; brothers, R. Bruce Austin of Amelia, Va., William Thomas Austin of Roanoke, Va., E. Kent Austin of Lynchburg, Va., and Capt. David G. Austin of the U.S. Air Force; stepson, David F. Weese of Dahlgren, Va.

She was a homemaker, a member of Liberty Grove United Methodist Church and the widow of Roy Bristow.

Surviving are sons, Alton Lee Bristow of Greensboro and Ronald Wilson Bristow of Liberty; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

He was a native of Mt. Gilead, a U.S. Air Force veteran and a retired automotive mechanic.

Surviving are son, Robert William Byrd of Spartanburg, S.C.; daughter, Deborah B. Morris of Bladenboro; brothers, Harris Byrd, Dockery Byrd and L.P. Byrd, all of Mt. Gilead, and Tom Byrd of Oakboro; sisters, Joyce McNeil, Francis Martin, Lois Sneed and May Harrison, all of Mt. Gilead, and Eunice Byrd Douthit of Norwood; three grandchildren.
