She was a native of Asheboro, an Interior Design graduate of Randolph Community College and was employed with the Family Crisis Center in Asheboro as a counselor and night manager.

She was a native of Davidson County and a homemaker.

She was a native of Montgomery County, the widow of Branson Earl Thomas and a member of Asheboro United Church of Christ.

RANDLEMAN - Shufford Ray Tutterow, 91, formerly of Randleman, died Friday, Nov. 19, 1999, at Asheboro Health & Rehabilitation.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Union Grove, with the Rev. Richard Hedgecock officiating.

He was a native of Iredell County, ran a shoe repair shop in Randleman and was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church.

Surviving are daughter, Angela Tutterow of Madison; sister, Anna Hill of Thomasville; brother, Q.B. Tutterow of Sophia.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, 7-9 p.m. Sunday.

RANDLEMAN - Christine Inez Culler Linthicum, 75, of 801 Caudle Road, died Friday, Nov. 19, 1999, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Monday at Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Hamlyn and the Rev. William Harvell officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Randolph County, attended Church of God, Body of Christ Seventh Day and retired from Sarah Lee after 33 years.

Surviving are husband, Jack E. Linthicum of the home; daughter, Geraldine "Geri" Nixon of Asheboro; brothers, Will Culler of Sophia, Frank Culler of Randleman; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

She was a native of Bladen County, a member of Allendale Baptist Church and was employed at Hickory Springs Inc.

Surviving are husband, Frank Ingram of the home; parents, Eartle and Mary Kate Peterson Smith of Thomasville; daughters, Penny Vaughan of Thomasville, Tammy Tollison and Karen Campbell, both of Trinity, April Sparks of the home, Sharon Holcomb of Mocksville; son, Clarence Hunt of Randleman; sisters, Mary Small of Archdale, Rosellen Craven of Walburg, Ann Hughes of Thomasville; brothers, Richard Smith and Jesse Smith, both of Archdale, Earl Smith of Thomasville, Danny Smith of High Point; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandson.

She was a native of Rockingham County, affiliated with the Denton Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and was retired from Ultra-Mek Corp. in Denton.

Surviving are daughters, Dianne Watts, Marlene Adkins and Janice Bowman, all of High Point, Joy Beasley of New London; sister, Mabel Morrison of Chester, Va.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

CANDOR - Alek Graham Brown, 7 months old, of N.C. 731, died Friday, Nov. l9, 1999 at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Sardis United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Joe Wilbur and the Rev. Peggy Duncan-Wood officiating.

Surviving are mother, Denise Robinson; father, Kenneth Brown; grandparents, Phillip and Catherine Robinson; great-grandmother, Juanita Robinson.

Edgar Haywood Jr.
MT. GILEAD - Edgar Haywood Jr., 82, of 321 E. Allenton St., died Friday, Nov. 19, 1999, at his home.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Gilead First United Methodist Church, where he was a member. Burial will be in Sharon Cemetery.

He was a World War II U.S. Navy Air Corps veteran, retired director of Personnel for Gilead Manufacturing Co., was chairman of the board of trustees, a treasurer and a member of the Minnie Frutchy Bible Class at his church. He had previously chaired Mt. Gilead's Finer Carolinas, where he was instrumental in getting Mt. Gilead's first lighted athletic field and helped in revitalizing the Boy Scout program, serving on both local and district boards. He served on the first advisory board of West Montgomery High School, was an elected member of town government and was a member of the Scottish Rite and Mt. Gilead Civitan Club.

Surviving are wife, Ina Ewing Haywood of Mt. Gilead; daughter, Carolyn Currie of South Boston, Va.; son, Edgar Haywood III of Oak Island; sister, Louise Haywood of Troy; four grandchildren; two stepgrandsons; five great-grandchildren.

STONY POINT - Fredrick Robert Childers, 81, of 728 Pisgah Church Road, died Friday, Nov. 19, 1999, at Iredell Memorial Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Allen Mullins officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Alexander County, the widower of Pauline Martin Childers, a retired farmer and furniture worker and a deacon at his church.

Surviving are sons, the Rev. Kenneth Childers of Roxboro, Donald N. Childers of Asheboro; daughter, Linda Haddix of Stony Point; brother, Walter Childers of Statesville; sister, Pauline Johnson of Mooresville; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Chapman Funeral Home, Stony Point, 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday, other times at the home.

J. Robert Loggains Sr.
James Robert Loggains Sr., 79, of 1288 Burney Road, Asheboro, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Donald Hayes and Richard Wright officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

He was a native of Dimple, Texas, a retired carpenter and farmer and was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are wife, Opal Austin Loggains of the home; daughter, Brenda L. Harrelson of Asheboro; son, James Robert "Bobby" Loggains Jr. of Asheboro; sisters, Maude Dove of Texarkana, Texas, Lorene Billings of Crystal Beach, Texas; one granddaughter.

Myrtle Mae Boggs McPherson, 92, of 711 Crestview Church Road, Asheboro, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999, at her home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Ray Swaney officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Friends Meeting Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Bill McPherson and was retired from Acme-McCrary Corporation.

Surviving are sons, David McPherson and Edward McPherson, both of Asheboro; daughter, Imogene Powell of Asheboro; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 6:30-8 p.m. Monday.

FRANKLINVILLE - Larry James Wood, 53, of 3368 Carl Allred Road, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999, at his home.

He was a native of Randolph County, employed with Interior Enterprises and attended Bethany United Methodist Church.

Surviving are wife, Wanda Trogdon Wood; sons, Dale Wood and Thomas Wood, both of Franklinville, Jeff Wood of Ramseur; mother, Bertha Wood of Asheboro; sisters, Sondra Trogdon of Franklinville, Shelia Rice of Asheboro; four grandchildren.

He was a native of Chatham County and an employee of Gold Kist Poultry Plant.

He was a native of Randolph County and a retired sawmill worker.

Surviving are wife, Mary Colon Hall Daniel of Rockwood, Tenn.; daughter, Virginia Florence Daniel of Rockwood, Tenn.; sons, Robert Lee Daniel of Rockwood, Tenn., Otis Worth Daniel of Asheboro; sister, Sarah Hurley of Denton; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Funeral service was 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fleming Church of God, where he was a member, with the Rev. Ken Young and the Rev. Raymond Brown officiating. Burial was in Westover Memorial Park.

He was a native of Augusta, Ga., a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, a retired U.S. Postal clerk and a member of the elective Sunday School class and an usher at his church.

Surviving are wife, Pauline A. Clark of Augusta, Ga.; son, Tim M. Clark of Waynesboro, Ga.; daughters, Darlene C. Rainwater and Susan C. Reed, both of Martinez, Ga., Linda C. Pethan of Columbia, S.C., Carol C. Gay of Vidalia, Ga.; mother, Juanita C. Thaxton of Augusta, Ga.; sister, Cathy Gray of North Augusta, S.C.; 11 grandchildren.

She was a past Sunday School superintendent at her church.

The Rev. Charlie W. Miller, 62, of 2889 Pine Court, Asheboro, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at West Asheboro Baptist Church, with Paul Trollinger officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

He was a native of Pamlico County, a graduate of Wake Forest University and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, the executive director of the Asheboro Housing Authority for 30 years and the minister of West Asheboro Baptist Church.

Surviving are wife: Doris G. Miller of Asheboro; daughter, Elizabeth M. Boswell of Asheboro; sons, Jonathan Marion Miller and Charlie William Miller Jr., both of Asheboro; brother, Monnie Miller of Staley; sister, Marie M. Josey of Greensboro; three grandchildren.
