DENTON - Bessie Lanier Glover, 87, of N.C. 8, South, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999, at her home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Loftin Road, with the Rev. Peter McGuire and the Rev. Robert Hughes officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Davidson County, the widow of James Newell Glover and a retired employee of Surratt Hosiery Mill.

Surviving are son, Henry Glover of Denton; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday, other times at the home of a grandson, James Glover, 122 Lookabill Road, Denton.

SILER CITY - Annie "Irene" Cooper Holt, 61, of 203 Cameron Drive, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999, at her home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, with the Rev. David Hutchins officiating. Burial will be in Bynum United Methodist Church Cemetery, Bynum.

She was a native of Chatham County, a member of Bynum United Methodist Church and was employed with Glendale Hosiery.

Surviving are husband, Wade "Buddy" Holt Jr. of Siler City; son, Timothy Wayne Holt of Siler City; daughters, Patricia Irene Holt and Teresa Allene Langley, both of Siler City; father, Lonnie Cooper of Burlington; mother, Florence Cooper of Bynum; brother, Cadle Cooper of Bynum; sister, Patricia Ann Mitchell of Bynum; three grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Monday.

Georgia P. Thomas
WALLACE - Georgia P. Thomas, 60, of 945 Deep Bottom Road, died Friday, Nov. 26, 1999, at her home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Deep Bottom, with the Rev. Acie Robinson officiating. Burial will be in the Burton Family Cemetery of Wallace.

Surviving are husband, Robert Thomas Jr. of Wallace; sons, Robert L. Thomas of Wallace, Dennis Thomas of Durham, Cecil Thomas of Currie; daughters, Annette Thomas of Raleigh, Shapel Gibson of Marietta, Ga.; brother, James Patterson Jr. of Aberdeen; sisters, Barbara Gladden and Diana Graves, both of Asheboro; 12 grandchildren.

The family will be at Rose Hill Funeral Home, Wallace, 5-7 p.m. Tuesday.

GREENSBORO - Kenneth "Ken" Robert Croft, 49, of 3808 Roundhill Road, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, where he was a member. Burial will be in Westminster Gardens Cemetery.

He was a native of Fort Smith, Ark., a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, was active in the Greensboro Rotary Club, Greensboro Jaycees and was a member of the Greensboro Sports Council and the board of the Greensboro YMCA. He was a former president of the North Carolina Sports Hall Of Fame, a former Public Relations Director of Miller Brewing Company and American Express Company, was president of Camden Investments and a U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are wife, Deborah L. Croft of the home; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Croft of Asheboro; daughter, Cameron Elizabeth Croft of the home; son, Adam Taylor Croft of the home; brother, Douglas Edward Croft of Thomasville; sister, Carol Ann Croft of Pffaftown.

The family will be at Forbis & Dick Funeral Home, North Elm Street, Greensboro, 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Deborah W. Thompson
TROY - Deborah Wallace Thompson, 48, of 1385 Lovejoy Road, died Sunday Nov. 28, 1999, at her home.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

She was a native of Moore County, a 17-year veteran in the U.S. Air Force and Army and was a retired nurse.

Surviving are son, Michael Thompson of Ft. Campbell, Ky.; mother, Elizabeth Morris of Troy; stepfather, Auley Morris of Troy.

The family will be at the home.

Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, Troy, is in charge of the arrangements.

Ruth D. Chappell
CANDOR - Ruth Dawkins Chappell, 88, of 233 Tomlinson St., died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Candor Town Cemetery, with the Rev. Bill Mitchell officiating.

She was a native of Montgomery County, a member of Candor United Methodist Church and was a homemaker.

Surviving are sons, Bernie Chappell Jr., Dale Chappell and James Chappell; brother, G.D. Dawkins; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home, Candor, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to Candor United Methodist Church.

BENNETT - Florence Jacquelyn "Jackie" Crawford, 59, of 22606 N.C. 902, died Monday, Nov. 29, 1999, at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Fall Creek Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Ron Chaney officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Chatham County and an employee of Lowes Hardware Store in Asheboro.

Surviving are daughter, Janice Crawford of the home; sons, Jerry Crawford of Jamestown, Glenn Crawford of the home; father, Jack E. Powers of Bennett; brother, Joe Powers of Bennett; sisters, Ruth Phipps of Bennett, Kay Simpson and Joyce Bissette, both of Durham; six grandchildren.

The family will be at Joyce-Brady Funeral Home, Bennett, 6-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home of Ruth Phipps, 295 Phillips Road, Bennett.

Ima M. McAulay
GREENVILLE, S.C. - Ima M. McAulay of Greenville, S.C., died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999, at her home.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Mount Gilead City Cemetery, Mount Gilead.

She was the widow of Marcus Haywood McAulay and a member of Biltmore Baptist Church in Asheville.

Surviving are daughters, Brenda M. Whisenhunt of St. Louis, Mo., Shelley M. Bridges of Greenville, S.C.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

McKeithan Funeral Home in Mt. Gilead was in charge of the arrangements.

Jalan D. Callicutt
Jalan Dionta Callicutt, of 206 W. Edgewood Circle, Asheboro, infant son of Lorraine Callicutt of the home and Donta' Addington of Snow Camp, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Callicutt Memorial Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Lee Williamson officiating.

Surviving in addition to the parents are brother, Zachary Sutton of the home; grandparents, Wayne and Dewanda Callicutt of Asheboro, Arnold and Ella Ree Garner of Snow Camp; great-grandparents, Odell and Barbara Lambeth of Asheboro, James Callicutt of Troy, Peggy Dunn of Black Ankle, Madge Garner of Snow Camp; great-great-grandparents, Emily Callicutt and Ester Kearns, both of Asheboro, Iola Beasly of Sophia.

The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, 1:30-2:30 p.m. Thursday.

John R. Lumpkin
FRANKLINVILLE - John Roland Lumpkin, 71, of 1982 Tippett Road, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Patterson Grove Christian Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Dan Neely officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Richmond, Va., retired from First Union Bank in Raleigh and from Lowes Food, was a retired veteran of the 82nd Airborne after 20 years of service and was a member of the D.A.V. Chapter #38.

Surviving are wife, Lucille Howell Lumpkin of the home; daughters, Annette Brown and Brenda Morton, both of Franklinville; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 7-9 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home of Annette Brown, 1978 Tippett Road, Franklinville.

Delpha Stanley
SOPHIA - Delpha Stanley, 65, of 4631 Allen Drive, died Monday, Nov. 29, 1999, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Wayside Freewill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Claude Garrett Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.

He was a native of Columbus County, a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, was an employee of MGM Transport and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are wife, Patsy Wilson Stanley of the home; sons, Gary Stanley of Trinity, Mike Stanley of Franklinville, Timmy Stanley of Level Cross, Scott Stanley of Sophia; daughters, Brenda Jessie of Trinity, Deborah Turner of Thomasville; stepson, Ricky Gaddis of Sophia; stepdaughter, Patsy Key of Sophia; brothers, Thomas Stanley of Florida, Fred Stanley of Little River, S.C., Ethridge Stanley of Savannah, Ga.; sisters, Geneva S. Hardy of Whiteville, Mary Rowe of Morehead City, Cleo Flowers of Wilmington; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home of Deborah Turner, 504 Easy St., Thomasville.

James B. Williams
HAW RIVER - James B. Williams, 73, of Haw River, died Monday, Nov. 29, 1999, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Swepsonville Baptist Church, with the Rev. Don Clement and the Rev. Thurman Williams officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hermon Baptist Church Cemetery in Durham.

He was a native of Orange County, an electrician and retired minister, and a deacon at Swepsonville Baptist Church.

Surviving are wife, Lucy Williams; daughters, Deborah Arm Chrisco of Chapel Hill, Esther Marie Speight of Mebane, Pamele Kay White of Elkin; stepsons, Joseph Douglas Smith of Burlington, Timothy Henry Smith of Mebane; sisters, Mary Edwards, Alice Luther, Madelle Galloway, Patricia Miller and Kay Luck; brothers, Robert Williams and Rev. Thurman Williams; eight grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Clements Funeral Home, Hillsborough, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, other times at 3637 S. Jim Minor Road, Haw River.

Scott W. Cross
Scott Wade Cross, 71, of 4182 Cross Creek Road, Asheboro, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999, at Vencor Hospital in Greensboro.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery in Warrenton.

He was a native of Randolph County and a U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving is sister, Astrolie Boykins of Greensboro.

The family will be at C.C. Hodges Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-8 p.m. Friday.

Mary Anderson
Mary Anderson of 2925 Zoo Parkway, Asheboro, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999, at Carillon Assisted Living Center in Asheboro.

James Leach Ferrell, 69, of 3256 Old Lexington Road, Asheboro, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Ray Lambe officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

He was a retired distributor for Jesse Jones, the widower of Jo Ann Stultz Ferrell and he attended Back Creek Friends Meeting.

Surviving are daughters, Pam F. Yates and Patty F. Hill, both of Asheboro, Brandy L. Comer of Atlanta, Ga., Sandy L. Davis of Greensboro; brothers, Henry Ferrell of Raleigh, L.T. Ferrell of Kernersville, J.D. Ferrell of Silver Spring, Md., Bill Ferrell of Arlington, Texas, David Ferrell of Pinehurst; three grandchildren.

She was a native of Randolph County, retired from Burlington Industries and was a member of First Christian Church.

Surviving are husband, Claude Albert Tucker of the home; sons, Claude Edgar Tucker of Ramseur, Thomas Lee Tucker of Randleman, Robert Poe Tucker of Ashland, Va.; daughter, Sally Poe Tucker Parker of Ramseur; sister, Addie Mae Marley of Ramseur; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

F. Milburn Gale
MONROE - F. Milburn Gale, 84, of Monroe, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999, at Union Regional Medical Center.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, where he was a member, with Dr. Harry Poovey officiating. Burial will be in Lakeland Memorial Park.

He was a native of Anson County, owner of Gale Sewing Machine Repair, a charter member of the Benton Heights Lions Club, where he served as club secretary and a recipient of the Lion of the Year Award and the Melvin Jones Fellow Award.

Surviving are wife, Tomsy Smith Gale; daughter, Vicky Gulledge of Monroe; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Gordon Funeral Service, Monroe, 5-7 p.m. Thursday.

She was a native of Alexander County and of the Baptist faith.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Faith Temple Baptist Church Cemetery, with Lisa Young officiating.

She was a native of Greensboro.
