Memorial service will 4 p.m. Monday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Seagrove, with Steve Long officiating.

She was a native of Randolph County and one of Jehovah's witnesses.

Surviving are daughter, Rebecca Lynn Nance of Asheboro; son, Jeremy Scott Nance of Asheboro; parents, Gilbert and Ruth Chriscoe of Seagrove; sisters, Ruth Templeton of Seneca, S.C., Linda Tucker of Asheboro, Tammy Atkins of Snow Camp, Reba Cutsail of Seagrove; brothers, Gene Chriscoe and Robert Chriscoe, both of Seagrove.

The family will be at the home of a brother, Gene Chriscoe, 2427 Brower Mill Road, Seagrove, 6-9 p.m. Sunday.

Mark Edward Cranford, 46, of 728 N. McCrary St., Asheboro, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999, at Wesley Long Community Hospital, Greensboro.

Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Brady Stephens officiating.

He was a native of Loma Linda, Calif., a U.S Navy veteran and was currently attending Guilford Technical Community College.

Surviving are wife, Donna Sapp Cranford; daughters, Crystal Snodgrass of Jacksonville, Fla., Debra Ware of the home, Melanie Hogan of Troy, Melinda Cranford of Biscoe, Angela Thompson of Thomasville; sisters, Candace C. Garner of Durham, Colleen Jackson of Sanford; brothers, Terrence Cranford of Biscoe, Woodrow Cranford of Asheboro, Dale H. Cranford of Florida; six grandchildren.

Dylan R. Hadfield
Dylan Robert Hadfield, infant son of Robert and Bethany Ann Bullock Hadfield, of 4815 Hinshaw Town Road, Ramseur, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999, at Randolph Hospital.

Graveside service was 3 p.m. Saturday at New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Brad Thie officiating.

Surviving in addition to the parents are sister, Rebecca Hadfield of the home; brothers, David Hadfield of the home, Brandon Taylor of New York; grandparents, Edward and Agnes Bullock of New York, Robert and Brenda Hadfield of Asheboro.

James W. Dennis Sr.
TROY - James Willard Dennis Sr., 75, of East First Street, Mt. Gilead, died Friday, Dec. 10, 1999, at Tara Plantation, Carthage.

Graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Sharon Cemetery, with the Rev. Ben Hall officiating.

He was a native of Montgomery County, a member of White Crest Baptist Church, a World War II U.S. Merchant Marines veteran and a retired employee of Dennis Carpet.

Surviving are wife, Doris Crouch Dennis of the home; son, James Willard Dennis Jr. of Troy; daughters, Joyce D. Bush of Fredricksburg, Va., Diane D. Zertuche of Asheboro, Mary Elizabeth Thompson of Mt. Gilead; brothers, Robert Dennis, Bradley Dennis and Bobby Gene Dennis, all of Troy; sister, Nellie Dennis of Troy; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

TROY - Thomas Jerry Howell, 64, of 418 Watkins St., died Friday, Dec. 10, 1999, at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Southside Cemetery, with the Rev. Raleigh Castelloe officiating.

He was a native of Montgomery County, a member of First Baptist Church of Troy and a retired employee of Gay-Lar Hosiery.

Surviving are sister, Bernadean Crook of the home; brother, Wiley Douglas Howell of Troy.

TROY - Charlie Clyde Russell, 92, of 5400 N.C. 109 North, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999, at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Center United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Derald Smith officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Montgomery County and a retired supervisor with Thomasville Chair Company.

Fannie W. Talley
TROY - Fannie Watson Talley, 77, of 3121 N.C. 109 North, died Friday, Dec. 10, 1999, at Stanly Memorial Hospital, Albemarle.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Callicutt Chapel Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. Bobby Freeman and the Rev. Danny Laws officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Jackson County and a homemaker.

Surviving are husband, Harry Talley of the home; son, Dewey Talley of Troy; daughters, Evelyn T. Dennis, Janice T. Lemons and Linda T. Sparkman, all of Troy, Carolyn Talley of Asheboro; brothers, Buck Watson of Waynesville, Bud Watson of Atlanta, Ga.; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren.

Betty M. Foy
Betty Lou Marsh Foy, 67, of 909 Cliff Road, Asheboro, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, at her home.

A private service will be held.

She was a native of Guilford County.

Surviving are husband, L. Eugene Foy of the home; daughter, Michelle Foy of Atlanta, Ga.; sons, Samuel M. Foy of Asheboro, Terrence E. Foy of Greensboro; brother, Larry Marsh of Wendell; five grandchildren.

Murphy H. Williams
Murphy Lou Hall Williams, 83, of 430 Hawthorne Drive, Asheboro, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Grace United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Lee Roy Hunt and the Rev. Jean Nall officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was retired from Burlington Industries.

Surviving are husband, Flinton A. Williams of the home; daughters, Melissa W. Spencer of Asheboro, Linda W. Bowling, of Orlando, Fla.; six grandchildren.

Lewis R. Gaines
GREENSBORO - Lewis R. Gaines, 74, of Greensboro, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Philadelphia Baptist Chapel, where he was a member, with Pastor Joe B. ChandIer officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park.

He was a native of Chatham County, a World War II U.S. Marine Corps veteran, where he received a Purple Heart, and was retired from the service station business. He was a deacon, Sunday school superintendent and teacher at Red Branch Baptist Church in Carthage and at Crusade Baptist Church and was president of the Adult Sunday School Class at Philadelphia Baptist Church.

Surviving are wife, Vera S. Gaines; daughters, Vickie Baxter of Asheboro, Sandra Powers of Liberty, Dianna Carson of Greenville, S.C., Lucinda Brown and Sheila Holmes, both of Browns Summit; sons, Michael Gaines and Ronnie Gaines, both of Greensboro; sisters, Josie Vaughn and Lucy Price, both of Goldston, Barbara Jean Wilson of Greensboro; brother, Malphus Gaines of Greensboro; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home, North Elm Street, Greensboro, 7-9 p.m. Monday, other times at the home.

Elsie T. Cooke
TROY - Elsie Taylor Cooke, 85, of 718 Crouch St., died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, at Britthaven of Piedmont, Albemarle.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Lee Church officiating. Burial will be in Southside Cemetery.

She was a native of Surry County and a homemaker.

Surviving are son, Rev. Raeford Cooke of Troy; daughter, Janice C. Watts of Oakboro; brothers, Rev. Robert Taylor and Lee Taylor, both of Pilot Mountain, Rev. AIbert Taylor of Asheboro; sisters, Magdalene Stellman and Mrs. Odell Reddick, both of High Point; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, Troy, 7-9 p.m. Monday, other times at 1737 N.C. 109 North, Troy.

Willie Brown
Willie "Dinky" Brown, 48, formerly of Asheboro, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, at Bellview Hospital, Manhattan, N.Y.

Memorial service will be Wednesday in Brooklyn, N.Y. One in Asheboro will be at a later date.

Surviving are brothers, Rev. James Brown of Asheboro, Tommy Brown of Ben Salemn, Pa.; sister, Syble B. Lindsey of Asheboro.

Dwight D. Heath
Dwight Dewey Heath, 61, of 405 Medfield Circle, Asheboro, died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, with the Rev. Neil Poole officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Greensboro.

He was a native of Guilford County, a retired captain of the Randolph County Sheriff's Department after 10 years, a retired Randolph Community College instructor, a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Asheboro.

Surviving are wife, Sandra Britt Heath of the home; sons, Stephen Heath of Franklinville, Kelly Heath of Asheboro, Ricky Heath of Greensboro; brother, Guy Stutts of Greensboro; sister, Virginia Thorton of Greensboro; three grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home.

W. I. Miller Jr.
William Ivey "Nick" Miller Jr., 81, of 190 Lambert Drive, Asheboro, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, at his home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Back Creek Friends Meeting, where he was a member, with the Rev. Ray Lambe and the Rev. George McDowell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County and retired from Acme-McCrary Corporation.

Surviving are wife, Ruth Miller of the home; daughters, Phyllis Varner of Asheboro, Minnie Moran of Ramseur; sons, James William Miller of Asheboro, Barry J. Miller of Greensboro; sister, Ruth Nance of Asheboro; brothers, George Miller and Norman Miller, both of Asheboro; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home.

RANDLEMAN - Mae Ashley Dixon, 81, formerly of Randleman, died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, at Roman Eagle Nursing Home, Danville, Va.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, with the Rev. Jesse Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Norfolk, Va., a homemaker and a member of Whitehall Evangelical Methodist Church.

Surviving are husband, Lester C. Dixon of Greensboro; sons, Grover Ashley of Cowan, Tenn., J. W. Ashley of Huntsville, Ala., Lawrence Ashley of Greensboro; daughters, Linda Odum and Pamela Ashley, both of Danville, Va., Mabel Ashley of Cowan, Tenn., Athene Gray of Franklinville, Kelline Hudson of Climax, Geraldine Harpold of Nevada City, Calif.; sister, Louise O'Neill of Coinjock; 40 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren.

E.J. Wisdom
RANDLEMAN - E. J. Wisdom, 73, of 101 E. Barker St., died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Holiness Church, Sophia, with the Rev. Arthur Swaney officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of DeLeon, Texas, was retired from Wal-Mart and also had worked in the Texas conference of the Free Methodist Church.

Surviving are wife, Hazel Jobe Wisdom of the home; daughters, Elizabeth Ann Dillard of Ft. Worth, Texas, Melody Joy Lambeth of Thomasville; seven grandchildren.

The family will be at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home of Melody Lambeth, 284 Cedar Lodge Road, Thomasville.

Mildred L. Fogleman
LIBERTY - Mildred Lashley Fogleman, 95, formerly of Liberty, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, at Clapp's Nursing Center, Asheboro.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Hill Christian Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Howard Spray officiating.

She was a native of Alamance County, the widow of Slocum H. "Doc" Fogleman, a member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church, a homemaker and employed with Dependable Hosiery Mills.

Surviving are daughter, Sarah F. Grant of Asheboro; son, S. H. "Jim" Fogleman of Wilmington; sister, Beatrice L. Andrews of Greensboro; 10 grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; seven great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

William L. Wall
SILER CITY - William L. "Bill" Wall, 82, of 298 Pine Lake Drive, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, at the V A Hospital in Durham.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Joe Casteel and William A. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Loves Creek Baptist Cemetery.

He was a native of Anson County, a 1941 graduate of the University of North Carolina, a World War II U.S. Army veteran and served as President of Home Builders Supply for 40 years.

Surviving are wife, Marie Smith Wall of Siler City; daughter, Patricia H. Wall of Greensboro; brother, Walter A. Wall of Raleigh.

The family will be at the home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Smyrna United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Joe Forbes and the Rev. Gaither Reich officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Moore County and retired from Perdue Company.

Surviving are sisters, Louvene W. Maness of Bennett, Rosie W. Reeder of Seagrove; brothers, Bill Williamson of Seagrove, Elmer Williamson of Robbins.

Margaret B. Johnson
SILER CITY - Margaret B. Johnson, 59, of Sunbridge Care of Siler City, died Monday, Dec. 20, 1999.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Luke Holiness Church, with Elder Pearline McMillian officiating. Burial will be in Wesley Chapel United Church of Christ Cemetery.

Surviving are daughters, LaDone Johnson and Eunice Fuller, both of Siler City; son, Anthony Johnson of Asheboro; sisters, Evangilist Listeen Mitchel, Elder Mary McSwain, both of Siler City; brother, James Brown of Bear Creek; eight grandchildren.

The family will be at the church 1-2 p.m. Thursday.

DENTON - Michael Allen Vanhoy, 44, of 173 Vanhoy Drive, died Monday, Dec. 20, 1999.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, Lexington, with the Rev. Larry Peterson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Forsyth County, a self-employed truck driver and attended Galilee Baptist Church.

Surviving are wife, Dorene Gragg Vanhoy of Denton; daughter, Owana Mullins of Trinity; parents, Bobby and Marian Hill Vanhoy of Denton; brother, Tommy Vanhoy of Denton; sisters, Elizabeth Woods, Sharon Stevenson and Karen Martin, all of Denton; grandmother, Ella Hill of Lexington; four grandchildren.

The family will be at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home of the parents, 195 Vanhoy Drive.
