RAMSEUR - Louise Hicks Overman, 70, of 727 Pleasant Ridge Church Road, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, with the Rev. Reggie Rakes officiating. Burial will be at Brush Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, had been employed with Klopman Mills and she attended Pentecostal Victory Temple Church in Siler City.

Surviving are son, James Wesley Overman of Ramseur; brother, Lewis Hicks of Siler City; two grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home of the son, 161 White Poplar St., Ramseur.

Memorials may be made to Brush Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 5345 Airport Road, Bear Creek, N.C. 27207.

Mae B. Brewer
TROY - Mae Brown Brewer, 88, of 907 Lindsey Drive, died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Dover Baptist Church, Seagrove, where she was a member, with Dr. Don Davis officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Moore County and retired from Clayson Knitting Co.

Surviving are daughters, Ernestine Comer of Seagrove, Sadie McNeill of Winston-Salem; sisters, Nova Freeman and Christine Duckworth, both of Biscoe, Mildred Patterson of Greensboro; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to Dover Baptist Church, 2527 Dover Church Road, Seagrove, N.C. 27341.

Mable L. Knight
TROY - Mable L. Knight, 66, of Lake in the Pines, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, Troy.

Betty M. Adcock
SILER CITY - Betty Malone Adcock, 66, of 3656 Alston Bridge Road, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at her home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at New Covenant Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. Duane R. Parton and the Rev. Wayne Bird officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

She was a native of Moore County, the widow of Joseph H. (Pete) Adcock, retired from RamTex and of the Presbyterian faith.

Surviving are sons, Joseph Randall Adcock of the home, Jeffrey Lynn Adcock of Bear Creek, Brian Keith Adcock of Siler City; daughters, Tonyia Adcock of the home, Betty Diane Armstrong of Siler City; sisters, Barbara Lopossay and Catherine Wright, both of Siler City, Cecil Sjoblom of Tennessee; brothers, Lennie Malone of High Point, Eugene Malone of Thomasville; five grandchildren.

The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

James C. White
SILER CITY - James Colon White, 66, of 317 N. Garden Ave., died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at Chatham Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Brookdale Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Walter Jones and the Rev. Gerald Bridges officiating. Burial will be at Chatham Memorial Park.

He was a native of Chatham County, a veteran of the Korean War and retired from Hadley Peoples Manufacturing Co.

Surviving are wife, Martha Johnson White of Siler City; daughter, Jessie W. Dinome of Philadelphia, Pa.; sons, Jimmy Dean White of Pittsboro, James Lynn White of Siler City; brothers, Thomas Howard White of Selma, Bobby Gene White of Missouri; six grandchildren.

Marie B. Sharpe
BENNETT - Marie Brady Sharpe, 100, of 424 N.C. 22, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, in Sunbridge Health Care, Siler City.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Community Friends Church in Carthage, with the Rev. Bobby Marsh and the Rev. Robert L. Kidd officiating. Burial will be in Prosperity Friends Church Cemetery near High Falls.

She was a native of Moore County, a retired secretary with Monroe Lumber Co. and a member of High Falls Friends Church.

Surviving are sisters, Nora B. Tillman of Robbins, Mary B. Kidd of Bennett; stepson, John Sharpe Jr. of Henderson; several step-grandchildren.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home of Mary Kidd, 242 N.C. 22, Bennett.

Jacqueline M. Carpenter
ROCKY MOUNT - Jacqueline McRae Carpenter, 48, of Sycamore Street, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, in Rocky Mount.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Saron Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Richmond County.

Surviving are husband, Johnny A. Carpenter of the home; sons, Johnny Carpenter Jr. of Rocky Mount, Richard Carpenter and James Carpenter, both of the home; daughters, Carolyn Carpenter of Rocky Mount, Sequia Carpenter and Jessica Carpenter, both of the home; sisters, Duressie McRae of Ellerbe, Judy Steele of Mt. Gilead; brother, Kent McRae of Ellerbe.

The family will be at Harris Funeral Home, Mt. Gilead, 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home of Catherine Carpenter, 144 Three Sisters Lane, N.C. 73 West, Mt. Gilead.

James M. Whitfield
James Madison Whitfield, 47, of 119 S. High St., Asheboro, died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at Randolph Hospital.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. R. Larry Emerson, Bob McDuffie and David LaCoss officiating.

He was a native of Durham, formerly employed with Duke Power in Durham and was a member of All Souls Anglican Church where he served as a vestryman. He was employed with Randolph Electrical Membership Corp. for 21 years and was a licensed electrician and formerly coached softball and football in the city recreation league.

Surviving are wife, Janice Sturgess Whitfield of Asheboro; daughter, Jennifer Marie Jester of the home; sons, John Andrew Whitfield of the home, Benjamin Whitfield of Texas; sister, JoAnn Knowles Koch of Wilmington; brother, Ralph McKinley Whitfield II of Bahama, N.C.; stepparents, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Vernon Utley of Hampstead.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Albert W. Dunlap
Albert Weldon Dunlap, 88, of 210 W. Liberty St., Asheboro, died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation of Asheboro.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with Dr. John S. Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

He was a native of Moore County, a member of First Baptist Church and was retired from Klopman Mills.

Surviving are son, Dr. Weldon Aaron Dunlap of Honolulu, Hawaii; two grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Jim Smith
James Roy Smith Jr., 61, of 606 W. North 3rd St., Seneca, S.C., died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, at Anderson, S.C.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Bret Cogan officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

He was a native of Asheboro, a member of First United Methodist Church, a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a U.S. Air Force veteran of Vietnam.

Surviving are sons, Michael Smith of Anderson, S.C., David Smith of Wilmington; daughters, Karen McLees of Normal, Ill., Susan Sellers of Chinquapin; father, James Roy Smith of Seneca, S.C.

The family will be at the funeral home 10-11 a.m. Thursday.

Eunice S. Essick
Eunice Surratt Essick, 79, of 661 Maple Ave., Asheboro, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999, at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro.

FRANKLINVILLE - Harry Donald Cox, 63, of 641 Julian Ave., died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Mabel L. Knight
TROY - Mabel Lytle Knight, 66, of 216 Stanley Drive, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at White Crest Baptist Church Cemetery, Mt. Gilead, with the Rev. Nelson Chambers and the Rev. Grady Blakely officiating.

She was a native of Toledo, Ohio, a member of White Crest Baptist Church, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, retired from the Civil Service in the medical field and was a secretary at the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department.

Surviving are husband, Buford "Bob" Knight of the home; son, Bruce Knight of Troy; daughter, Patricia Ann East of Seagrove; sisters, Margie Steffen of Erie, Mich., Margaret McLaurlin of New York; brother, Richard Lytle of Toledo, Ohio; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

The family will be at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, Troy, 7-9 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home.

Matheus L. Ingram
MT. GILEAD - Matheus Lamarr "Matt" Ingram, 26, of 2485 N.C. 109 South, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, in UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Friday at Chestnut A.M.E. Zion Church, with the Rev. Tyrone Rigsby officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Essex County, N.J., a 1992 graduate of West Montgomery High School where he played basketball, baseball and football, formerly employed with Davenport Aviation of Winston-Salem and a student at Winston-Salem Barber School.

Surviving are parents, Lewis and Phyllis Ingram Little of the home; daughters, Tiasyah L.T. Ingram of Greensboro, Nadia A. Lilly of Troy; son, Jacques K. Ingram of Fayetteville; sister, Sherlisha N. Little of the home; brother, Marcus L. Owens of Albemarle; grandmothers, Ethelyn Little of Mt. Gilead, Shirley Ingram of Newark, N.J.

The family will be at the home.

Isla L. Shaver
CARTHAGE - Isla Livengood Shaver, 90, of 483 Connell Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Summer Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Max Gilmore and the Rev. Bobby Marsh officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Surry County and the widow of Floyd C. Shaver.

Surviving are daughters, Dolores Howell of Oakboro, Jeanette Crouse of Greensboro, Anne Cain of Asheboro, Judy Harrington of Carthage; son, Gilbert Shaver of Valdese; sister, Gertrude Sineath of Sanford; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home, Carthage, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home.

Barbara G. Powers
LINWOOD - Barbara Gail Powers, 45, of 269 Brown Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, at her home.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Back Creek Friends Meeting Cemetery, Asheboro, with the Rev. Ray Lambe officiating.

She was a native of Fitzgerald, Ga., and a homemaker.

Surviving are husband, Randall Franklin Powers of the home; daughters, Sally Guy, Lori Stanley, Michelle McKenzie and Lisa Burns, all of Lexington, Christy Hensley of Asheboro; son, Joseph Powers of Lexington; mother, Vera Bultens of Albemarle; sisters, Faye Anderson of Farmer, Sandra Manning of Asheboro; brothers, Johnny Lee and Jimmy Lee, both of Asheboro; six grandchildren.

The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, 12:30-1:30 p.m. Thursday.

Eunice S. Essick
Eunice Surratt Essick, 79, of 661 Maple Ave., Asheboro, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999, at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Ralph Burke Essick, a member of First United Methodist Church and a circle member.

Surviving are daughter, Annette E. Ivey of Asheboro; son, Don Lee Essick Sr. of Asheboro; sister, Edna Surratt Kirkman of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; four grandsons.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

Johnathan Chanthadara
Johnathan Phon Chanthadara, the infant son of Teresa Robertson and John Chanthadara of 338 Pleasant Ridge Road, Franklinville, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at Randolph Hospital.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Huldah Baptist Church Cemetery.

Surviving are brother, Jason Robertson of Asheboro; sister, Yolanda Sanchez of the home; grandparents, Terry and Judy Lucas of Shallotte.

Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, is in charge of the arrangements.

Laverne G. Rehder
Laverne Goodman Rehder, 83, formerly of Southport, died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, at Asheboro Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Memorial service will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Unity of Greensboro in Greensboro.

She was the first woman to earn a private pilot's license in the state ot North Carolina and was a retired supervisor with Piedmont Airlines in Winston-Salem after 27 years.

Surviving are sons, John B. Rehder of Knoxville, Tenn., Charles W. Rehder of Greensboro; sister, Letha White of Salisbury; three grandchildren; one great-grandson.

Gailes Funeral Home, Asheboro, is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Carolina Piedmont Chapter, 3420 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte. N.C. 28215.
