RANDLEMAN - Shirley Hodge Richardson, 63, of 201 Oak Hollow Road, Lexington, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, at Community Hospital, Lexington.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, with the Rev. Alvin C. Newcomb officiating. Burial will be in Midway Wesleyan Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Danville, Va., attended First Wesleyan Church in Randleman and was a homemaker.

Surviving are husband, Lester Richardson of Lexington; daughter, Donna Reaves of Lexington; son, Robert Perry Johnson of Lexington; sisters, Faye Whittington of Lexington, Marcine Ragan of Randleman; brother, Lloyd Hodge of Lexington; two grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home and at the home of Marcine Ragan, 100 Burgess St., Randleman.

Cecil E. Shoe
BURLINGTON - Cecil Elmo Shoe, 78, of 4221 Kimesville Road, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center of Alamance.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. W.N. "Bill" Hoss officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Alamance County, parts manager for Coble Farm Equipment, a member of the Lutheran Men's Group and Adult Sunday School Class at his church and a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are wife, Edna S. Shoe of the home; daughter, Joan S. Wilson of Asheboro; son, Craig S. Shoe of Somerset, Ky.; sisters, Mabel S. Inge, Myrtle S. Inge and Barbara S. Saunders, all of Burlington, Christine S. Teague of Elon College, Evelyn S. Wheeley of Durham; brother, John Shoe of Burlington; three grandchildren.

The family will be at Rich & Thompson Mortuary, Burlington, 6-8 p.m. Monday, other times at the home.

Thomas W. Birckhead Sr.
TROY - Thomas Wiley Birckhead Sr., 74, of 119 Ivey St., died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at Montgomery Memorial Healthcare, Troy.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Grady Blakely and the Rev. Bruce Dickerson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Virginia, a World War II U.S. Marine Corps veteran and a retired employee of Carolina Power & Light Co.

Surviving are wife, Elgie Hamilton Birckhead of the home; son, Thomas W. Birckhead Jr. of Troy; daughters, Brenda H. Livingston of Troy, Becky B. Nelson of Winston-Salem, Deborah L. Birckhead of Lynchburg, Va.; sister, Cynthia B. Cooper of Lawrenceville, Ga.; brothers, Craig A. Birckhead of Venice, Fla., George M. Birckhead of Ellsworth, Maine; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

CARTHAGE - Geneva Gordon, 93, of West End, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at Pinehurst Nursing Center.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ed Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Moore County and retired after teaching for 45 years.

The family will be at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home, Carthage, 7-8:30 p.m. Monday, other times at the home of Nympie Gordon, 321 Von Canon Drive, West End.

Henry G. Krsnak
WILLINGBORO, N.J. - Henry G. Krsnak, 69, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at his home.

Memorial service will be Tuesday at Goes-Scolieri Funeral Home in Willingboro, N.J.

He was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati in Ohio with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, earned a master's degree in engineering management from Drexel University, Philadelphia, Pa., and was retired from General Electric Co. after 36 years as an engineer in the Space Program at Valley Forge, Pa.

Surviving are wife, Lois P. Krsnak; daughters, Kathleen K. Norris of Asheboro, Nancy M. Krsnak of Haddenfield, N.J., Beth K. Bernstein of Northford, Conn.; sons, Donald A. Krsnak of Willingboro. N.J., Richard S. Krsnak of Medford Lakes, N.J., Peter W. Krsnak of Kansas City, Mo.; brother, Arthur Krsnak of Sayville, N.Y.; sister, Marguerite Spicker of Fort Myers Fla.; six grandchildren.

Charlie Woodrow Trogdon, 56, of 2205 Hopewell St., Asheboro, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, at Asheboro Health & Rehabilitation.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Grays Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County and a retired employee of Galey & Lord Industries, Inc.

Surviving are wife, Patsy Ann Trogdon; sisters, Betty Jean Cox, Joyce Trogdon and Nancy Trogdon, all of Asheboro.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday.

Lucile S. Loflin
LIBERTY - Lucile Smith Loflin, 84, of Liberty and of Belleview, Fla., died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at her home in Florida.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was retired from General Electric.

Surviving are husband, J.B. Loflin; son, Cecil W. Loflin of Clearwater, Fla.; daughter, Penny L. Cobb of Lake Wylie, S.C.; sisters, Daile S. Lineberry of Liberty, Rosa S. Sharpe of Siler City; brothers, John R. Smith of Charlotte, Ben N. Smith of Siler City; two grandchildren; one great-granddaughter.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Harry K. Frazier
JAMESTOWN - Harry Kenneth Frazier, 75, of 114 Tangle Drive, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty, with the Rev. Don Osborne officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

He was a World War II U.S. Marine Corps veteran, a graduate of Elon College and was employed with Preferred Furniture Components Corporation of High Point.

Surviving are wife, Ruth Hazelwood Frazier of Greensboro; son, Ken Frazier of Archdale; stepmother, Mary B. Frazier of Greensboro; brother, E. M. "Buddy" Frazier of Greensboro; one granddaughter.

The family will be at the funeral home 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday and also one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Nina M. Pickler
WINSTON-SALEM - Nina Esther Morgan Pickler, 100, of 1199 Hayes Forest Drive, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at J. Paul Shicht Center for the Aging, Winston-Salem.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Kendall's Baptist Church Cemetery in New London, with the Rev. Harold McDonald officiating.

She was a native of Stanly County and the widow of Rev. Clarence L. Pickler.

Surviving are son, J.D. Pickler of Randleman; brother, Burley C. Morgan of Salisbury; two granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; two stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren.

Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle, is in charge of the arrangements.

Merlin A. Pofahl
STAR - Merlin Arthur Pofahl, 72, of 3988 Spies Road, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Graveside service with military honors, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Randolph Memorial Park, with Dr. Don Davis officiating.

He was a native of Red Wing, Minn., a Vietnam U.S. Air Force veteran and he operated Merl's Tire Center for 27 years.

Surviving are wife, Elizabeth Tipton Pofahl of the home; sister, Olive Johnson of Red Wing, Minn.; stepson, Robert Hussey of Rock Hill, S.C.

The family will be at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Fannie C. Spencer
SEAGROVE - Fannie Chriscoe Spencer, 87, of 2931 Little Brook Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Community Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. David Davis, the Rev. Howard Moffitt and the Rev. Harold Baker officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, a homemaker and was formerly employed with Luck's in Seagrove.

Surviving are daughters, Hazel McNeill of Seagrove, Dorothy Allred of Robbins; sons, Edgar Spencer, Winfred Spencer and Bennie Spencer, all of Seagrove; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Joyce-Brady Funeral Home, Bennett, 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home of Winfred Spencer, 7635 Side Church Road, Seagrove.

Hugh T. Goss
FRANKLINVILLE - Hugh Thomas Goss, 80, of 1594 Whites Memorial Road, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Ronald Hester officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove United Church of Christ Cemetery.

He was a native of Lexington, a retired truck driver and was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are daughter, Linda Susan Jester of Franklinville; sons, Norman T. Goss of Asheboro, Danny Lee Goss of Coleridge; sisters, Mildred Costello of Norfolk, Va., Betty Everhart and Norma Jean Goss, both of Lexington; brother, Joe Donald Goss of Lexington; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Rev. Herman L. Kivett Sr.
FRANKLINVILLE - The Rev. Herman Lynn Kivett Sr., 62, of 417 Faith Rock Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Full Gospel Bible Church of God, with the Rev. Jack Kivett and the Rev. Terry Batchelor officiating. Burial will be in Franklinville UMC Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, the founder of Full Gospel Bible Church of God in Franklinville, where he pastored for 27 years, and served as assistant pastor after retiring. He had a radio ministry on WCSE for 14 years, served as Head Bishop of the Full Gospel Bible Church of God Organization, was retired from Pet Dairy and operated "Pumpkinville."

Surviving are wife, Esther Turner Kivett of the home; sons, Herman L. Kivett Jr. of Los Angeles, Calif., Terry Dean Kivett of Troy, Garland Lee Kivett of Central Falls, Gary Mitchell Batchelor of Clinton, the Rev. Terry Milton Batchelor and Jeffery Darl Batchelor, both of Franklinville; sisters, Erma Lee Coley and Shirley Ann Farmer, both of Liberty; brothers, the Rev. Jack Kivett of Ramseur, Don Kivett of Hamlett; eight grandchildren.

The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, 6-9 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home.

Louise G. Phillippi
JULIAN - Louise Glass Phillippi, 75, of 6219 Nat Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Union United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Dave Cash and the Rev. Sheila Jones officiating.

She was a native of Guilford County, the widow of Cecil Phillippi and a member of the Adult Sunday School class and Joy Club at her church.

Surviving are daughter, Majorie Hutchins of Julian; brother, James Glass of Greensboro; one grandson.

The family will be at the church immediately following the service on Saturday.

PLEASANT GARDEN - John Ervin Bristow, 57, of 902 E. Sheraton Park Road, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Pleasant Garden United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Don Shuman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Central Falls, of the Methodist faith, was a member and later a chairman on the task force for "Commit to Quit," a smoking cessation program sponsored by Project Assist and also served on the Project Assist Community Board.

Surviving are wife, Bobbie Latham Bristow of the home; mother, Marie Peoples Bristow of Ft. Myers, Fla.; daughters, Kayla B. Pratto of Greensboro, Carol Ann B. Coggin of Charlotte; son, John Leland Bristow of Pleasant Garden; sister, Patsy B. Reid of Cape Coral, Fla.; four grandchildren.

The family will be at Forbis and Dick Funeral Home, North Elm Street, Greensboro, 7-9 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home.

ROBBINS - Meda Mae Hancock, 92, of 2951 Spies Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, at Autumn Care of Biscoe.

Surviving are seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

William Lloyd Hall, 85, of 228 Pershing St., Asheboro, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation of Asheboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. A. J. Kendrick and the Rev. Mark Beane officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

He was the owner/operator of Hall's Food Store in Asheboro, a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a member of First Wesleyan Church.

Surviving are wife, Hazel Foster Hall; son, William Darrell Hall of Pfafftown; sister, Edna Kennedy of Florence, S.C.; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Thursday.

He was a native of Randolph County and a retired supervisor with Tie-Rite Neckwear.

Surviving are sons, Farrell Thornburg of Asheboro, Gary Thornburg of Rock Hill, S.C.; brothers, Val Thornburg and Clark Thornburg, both of Asheboro; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

SILER CITY - William "Bo" Brower, 77, of 78 Hillcrest, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, at Chatham Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Plainfield Friends Meeting, Siler City, where he was a member, with Ken Thames, Pat Thames and Terry Kersey officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, a World War II veteran and retired from Glendale Hosiery Mill.

Surviving are wife, Doris Stephens Brower of Siler City; daughters, Nancy B. Hicks of Virginia Beach, Va., Julie B. Kolischak of Winston-Salem; son, William S. Brower of Southern Pines; sister, Decie B. Paschal of Siler City; brother, Clayton L. Brower of Stokesdale; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 5-7 p.m. Thursday.
