DENTON - Austin Joseph Severt, infant son of Donnie and Edwina Kearns Severt of 264 Howell Drive, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at Lexington Memorial Hospital in Lexington.

Graveside service will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Hoover's Grove Wesleyan Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Lee Roy Hunt officiating.

He was born Feb. 18, 2000, at Lexington Memorial Hospital.

Surviving in addition to the parents are; brother, Korbin Glenn Severt of the home; grandparents, Don and Debbie Severt of Lexington, Pat and Richard Hughes of Thomasville, Edwin and Estella Kearns of Denton; great-grandparents, Ida Kearns of Denton, Hubert and Nellie Porter of Thomasville, Oma Mattingly of Asheboro.

The family will be at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton from 2:30-3:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Roy L. Beane
RANDLEMAN - Roy Lee Bean, 75, of 2373 Spring Garden Court, Sophia, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at his daughter's home at 4934 Branson Davis Road, Sophia.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, with the Rev. James Robbins officiating. Burial will be at Randolph Memorial Park.

He was a native of Randolph County, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, retired from Deep River Dye In Randleman and a Baptist.

Surviving are stepmother, Minnie Beane of Asheboro; daughters, Elaine Beane of Asheboro, Cathy B. Garrett of Summerville, S.C., Cindy B. Haney of Sophia, Lisa "Peanut" Swaney of Level Cross; sons, Roy Odell Beane and Howard Cotton Beane of the home; sisters, Clara Mae Harvell of Troy, Inez Camp of Randleman, Marie Jennings of Greensboro; stepsister, Edith Vestal of Randleman; brother, Robert Beane of Randleman, Calvin Beane of Sophia; stepbrothers, Junior Vestal of Sophia, Winford Vestal and Buck Vestal, both of Randleman; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Saturday, other times at the home of Cindy B. Haney, 4934 Branson Davis Road, Sophia.

Bonnie C. Frye
WINSTON-SALEM - Bonnie Casey Frye, 69, of Winston-Salem, formerly of Asheboro, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Knollwood Baptist Church, where she was a member, with Dr. Christopher C.F. Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Forsyth Memorial Park.

She was a Forsyth County native, a teacher at Glenn High, Reynolds High and Asheboro High schools, a retired sales representative from Scholastic Publishing Co. and a Sunday School teacher.

Surviving are husband, W. Vance Frye of the home; daughters, Laura F. Williams of Lewisville, Lisa F. Gangwani, Julia F. Walsh of Wellington, Fla.; son, Jonathan C. Frye of Charlotte; brothers, Beecher Casey of Lexington, Ky., Clarence Casey of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren.

The family will be at Volger & Sons Main Street Chapel, 5-7 p.m. Sunday.

Arrangements are being made by Ridge Funeral Home in Asheboro.

Exie D. Bowman
ROBBINS - Exie Dennis Bowman, 89, of Carolina House in Asheboro, formerly of Robbins, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at Randolph Hospital.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday in the Pine Rest Cemetery, Robbins, with the Rev. Jon Neuhs officiating.

She was a native of Montgomery County, a former florist shop owner, a member of Elise Presbyterian Church, and retired from the Robbins Town Hall.

Surviving are step-son, L.B. Bowman Jr. of Baquis, Philippines; sisters, Jacqueline "Jock" Dennis and Jane D. Kearns, both of Troy; three stepgrandchildren.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday, other times at the home of Jane Kearns, 312 N. Pearl St., Troy.

Memorials may be made to Elise Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 637, Robbins, N.C. 27325.

Ronnie Flack
ARCHDALE - Ronnie Flack, 37, of 5620 Poole Road, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at his residence.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Hanes-Lineberry, Vanstory Chapel. Burial will be at Carolina Biblical Gardens.

He was an electrician and a Baptist.

Surviving are mother, Nell Flack of Archdale; sister, Tina McMahan of Sophia; brother, Tommy Flack of Archdale.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Saturday.

Fred D. Smith
TROY - Fred DeWeerd Smith, 88, of 1322 N.C. 109 North, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital, Troy.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at First Wesleyan Church, Troy, where he was a lifetime member, with the Rev. David Surrett, the Rev. Douglas Beadle, the Rev. DeWeerd Smith and the Rev. Jack Page officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Montgomery County, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a retired textile worker.

Surviving are wife, Clara Morris Russell Smith of the home; son, the Rev. Ray DeWeerd Smith of Elkton, Mich.; daughters, Jewell Dean S. Richey of Greensboro, Delores S. Kelly of Candor, Rebecca S. Surrett of Summerfield; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

Pugh-Troy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

James N. Dowd
SILER CITY - James Norman Dowd, 71, of Sun Bridge Nursing Home, Siler City, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at Chatham Hospital Inc., in Siler City.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dennis Boone officiating. Burial will be at Sandy Branch Baptist Church in Bear Creek, where he was a member.

He was a native of Chatham County, a veteran of the Korean Conflict and a self-employed carpenter.

Surviving are daughter, Tina Cheek of Siler City; son, James Norman Dowd Jr. of Sanford; brother, Rex Dowd of Greensboro; sister, Cindy Dowd of Greensboro; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Saturday.

Joseph B. Reitzel
LIBERTY - Joseph Bernard "Zeke" Reitzel, 77, of 5692 Liberty Grove Road, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Monday at Bethany United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. David Edinger officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

He was a native of Guilford County, a lifelong resident of the Smithwood Community, a musician, the widower of Texie Daniels Reitzel and retired from Stout Chair Co.

Surviving are son, Dr. Jerry Reitzel of Chesnee, S.C.; brothers, Ed Reitzel and Raymond Reitzel, both of Liberty; four grandchildren.

The family will be at Bethany United Methodist Church from 1-2:30 p.m. Monday.

Gertrude B. Jordan
Gertrude Brown Jordan, 98, formerly of 413 Turner St., Asheboro, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, at Clapps Convalescent Nursing Home.

Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Neighbors Grove Wesleyan Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Paul Griffin, the Rev. James Pittman and Dr. Ron Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Mirto Jordan and a Bible teacher to the Cherokee Indians.

Surviving are daughters, Frances Jordan and Doralena J. Rich, both of Asheboro, Donna Faye J. Pittman of Jacksonville; sons, Wesley Jordan and David Jordan, both of Asheboro; sisters, Edith Smith Vestha Brown, Estha Caviness, all of Asheboro; brother, Ernest Browne of Asheboro; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandchild.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, from 7-9 p.m. Sunday.

Memorials may be made to Neighbors Grove Wesleyan Academy, 1928 N. Fayetteville St., Asheboro, N.C. 27203.

Vernon E. Farlow
Vernon Elwood Farlow, 82, of 201 Cow Palace Road, Lexington, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at Golden Age in Lexington.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at National Cemetery in Salisbury.

He was a native of Randolph County, a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, a member of Deep River Baptist Church and retired from Sears.

Surviving are wife, Lula M. Farlow of De Bary, Fla.; daughter, Patty Weeks of Asheboro; son, Rodney Farlow of Concord; brother, Roy Farlow of Greensboro; sister, Hazel Lewis of High Point; two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Randolph County Honor Guard, P.O. Box 1672, Asheboro, N.C. 27204.

Sally S. Byrd

Sally Smith Byrd, 78, of 1306 Old Cox Road, Asheboro, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur.

Alton Russell

James Alton Russell, 88, of 419 Craven Drive, Asheboro, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with Dr. Boyd Stokes officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

He was a native of Montgomery County, a retired painter, a World War II U.S. Army veteran and he received the Bronze Star.

Surviving are wife, Bessie Willena Russell of Asheboro; brothers, David Russell of Philadelphia, Pa., Robert Russell of Asheboro; sisters, Evelyn Moffitt and Edna Scott, both of Asheboro, Margaret Gray of Greensboro.

The family will be at the funeral home 1-2 p.m. Tuesday.

FRANKLINVILLE - Eleanor Walker Amick, 82, of 2914 Walker Store Road, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, at her home.

COLERIDGE - John Earlie Powers, 82, of 6111 Lanes Mill Road, Siler City, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, at Sun Bridge Nursing Home, Siler City.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Concord United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Ron Wachs and the Rev. Joseph Forbes officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Moore County, a retired Mechanic for J. H. Macon & Co., and a charter member of the Coleridge Fire Department where he had served on the Board of Directors.

Surviving are wife, Lucy Powers of Asheboro; son, Johnnie Powers of Siler City; daughters, Linda Langley of Staley, Pat McAlister of Coleridge; stepsons, Odell Brady, Kenny Brady, Jesse Brady, all of Ramseur, Vernon Brady, Raeford Brady, Roland Brady, all of Asheboro, Ronnie Brady of Bennett, Jerry Brady of Seagrove; stepdaughters, Dianne Pierce of Seagrove, Linda Wright, Grace Ritter, Kay Durham, all of Asheboro; brothers, Randall Powers of Asheboro, Ralph Powers of Marietta, Ga.; sisters, Colene Brown, Ruth Hussey, both of Robbins, Carene Yow of Franklinville; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; 25 stepgrandchildren; 20 stepgreat-grandchildren.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 7-9 p.m. Monday, other times at the home.

Dorothy N. Stanley

LIBERTY - Dorothy Noah Stanley, 76, formerly of Liberty, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, at Sun Bridge Nursing Home, Asheboro.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Bible Truth Church, with the Rev. L. N. Stanley and the Rev. Timothy Humes officiating. Burial will be in Sandy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Forsyth County, the widow of Rev. Elsie Stanley and retired From Weiman Furniture.

Surviving are sons, William "Bill" Stanley Sr. of Newton, James Ray Stanley of Ramseur; daughters, Clara S. Ward of Newton, Judy S. Rodriguez of Greensboro, Mary S. Workman of Fairmont; half brother, Chester Noah of Liberty; sisters, Thelma Ward of Boone, Magdaline Noah of Boone; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the church 7-9 p.m. Monday.

GREENSBORO - Mary Patricia "Pat" Edge, 69, of Greensboro, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Muir's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. John W. Kale officiating.

She was a homemaker, the widow of Walter M. Edge Jr. and a member of Muir's Chapel United Methodist Church.

Surviving are daughters, Judy Hunt of Asheboro, Kimberly Edge of Greensboro; sister, Nancy Bassett of Syracuse, N.Y.; one grandson.

The family will be at Forbis & Dick Funeral Home, West Friendly Avenue, Greensboro, 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Rev. C.M. Fogleman Jr.

BURLINGTON - Rev. Dr. C. M. "Jack" Fogleman Jr., 81, of 1543 Flora Ave., died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Front Street United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with Dr. William C. Simpson, the Rev. G. Robert McKenzie Jr. and the Rev. Dermont Reid officiating. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.

He was a native of Alamance County, a retired Methodist minister, and a member of the Kansas West Conference of the United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Kansas Wesleyan University with a B.A. in history and where he received an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity, and was a graduate of Duke University with a Bachelor of Divinity and a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran.

Surviving are wife, Edith Morgan Fogleman of the home; daughter, LaDonna Zazenski of AtIantic Beach; sons, Ronald D. Fogleman of Burlington, Dr. Millard Lynn Fogleman of Beverly, Ky.; five grandchildren.

The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home, Burlington, 6-8 p.m. Monday, other times at the home.

Hubert C. Greene

TROY - Hubert Chase Greene, 84, of 1048 N. Main St., died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, Troy, with Dr. Walter Yoho officiating. Burial will be in Southside Cemetery.

He was a native of Montgomery County, attended Trinity United Methodist Church, was a retired World War II and Korean Conflict U.S. Army veteran, a policeman for the Town of Troy for 16 years and a retired magistrate from Montgomery County after 20 years.

Surviving are sister, Carole G. Byrd of Mt. Gilead; brother, Joe E. Greene of Newport News, Va.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8:30 p.m. Monday.

Eunice M. Freeman

BISCOE - Eunice May Freeman, 80, of Biscoe, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital.

Funeral service was 2 p.m. Monday at Cornerstone Baptist Church, with Dr. W. E. McPeters and the Rev. C.R. Irby officiating. Burial will be in Biscoe Cemetery.

Surviving are sister, Doris Needham of Biscoe; brother, Edward Callicutt of Biscoe.

Phillips Funeral Home, Star, is in charge of the arrangements.

Alton Russell
