RANDLEMAN - Monica Dawn Hauser, infant daughter of Carl and Sheila Hauser of 3455 Mack Lineberry Road, Franklinville, died Sunday, March 15, 1998, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, with the Rev. Clarence Clough officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

Surviving in addition to the parents are brother, Shaun Ray Hauser of the home; grandparents, Everette Nixon of Franklinville, Doris Nixon of Randleman, Edna Hauser of Asheboro.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Frances S. Shamberger

GREENSBORO - Frances S. Shamberger of 419 W. Whittington St., died Saturday, March 14, 1998, at Brian Center Health & Rehabilitation, Asheboro.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Kimes Funeral Service, Liberty.

Jed E. Comer

CANDOR - Jed Everett Comer, 35, of 435 Candor Road, died Monday, March 16, 1998, in Candor.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Eagle Springs United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Don Burns officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Moore County, a 1980 graduate of East Montgomery High School and had been employed with C.I. Burkhead General Merchants and Jack's Supply, both in Candor. He had been the president of the United Methodist Men for seven years and was the superintendent of the Sunday School department at his church. He had been a member of the Candor Fire Department for 17 years.

Surviving are mother, Maria Blake Comer of the home; brother, Jimmy Comer of Eagle Springs.

The family will be at Briggs Candor Funeral Home, Candor, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home.

Fannie C. Smith
Fannie Cox Smith, 97, of Brian Center Health & Rehabilitation, Asheboro, died Tuesday, March 17, 1998, at the center.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant Ridge Christian Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Jeff Stapleton, the Rev. Charles Stout and the Rev. Leslie Winslow officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County and a homemaker.

Surviving are sons, Ed Smith, Norman E. Smith, both of Asheboro; daughter, Peggy Smith Brewer of Asheboro; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to Pleasant Ridge Christian Church, 1162 Mill Creek Road, Ramseur, N.C. 27316.

Ruth Morris

Ruth Morris, 69, of 6464 Mt. Lebanon Road, Troy, died Tuesday, March 17, 1998, at Randolph Hospital.

No services will be held.

She was a native of Guilford County and retired from Cone Mills in Greensboro after 25 years.

Surviving are husband, Neville Morris; daughter, Lenora Morris of San Diego, Calif.; sons, Wayne Morris, Everett Morris, both of Portland, Ore., Keith Morris of San Diego, Calif.; six grandchildren.

Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, is in charge of the arrangements.

RANDLEMAN - Claudia Irene Sullivan, 81, of 900 W. Dolphin St., Siler City, died Tuesday, March 17, 1998, at Chatham Memorial Hospital, Siler City.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Randolph Memorial Park, with the Rev. Rex Pollard officiating.

She was a native of Guilford County, a Sunday School member of First Wesleyan Church, Randleman, and was a nursing aide.

Surviving are son, Charles C. Dicks of Randleman; daughter, Nellie Freeman Crabtree of Asheboro; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to Friendship Baptist Church, 9696 220 Business North, Randleman, N.C. 27317.

James F. Cox Jr.

CLIMAX - James Fletcher Cox Jr., 60, of 6008 Liberty Road, died Friday, March 13, 1998, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Surviving are wife, Betty Hughes Cox of the home; daughter, Karen Hamlett of St. Mary's, Ga.; sons, Jim Cox of New London, Donald L. Cox of Kingsland, Ga.; five grandchildren.

The family will be at the home 4-8 p.m. Thursday.

Vinia A. Moore

ROBBINS - Vinia Allen Moore, 76, of 135 Pinetree Lane, died Tuesday, March 17, 1998, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Browns Chapel Christian Church, with the Rev. Hayes Ritter, the Rev. Robert Hittepole and the Rev. James MacKenzie officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Moore County and a homemaker.

Surviving are daughter, Elaine M. Stewart of Robbins; sons, Nehemiah Moore of Biscoe, Allan Moore of Seagrove, Laddie B. Moore of Robbins; brother, Edgar Allen of Star; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home.

Thomas E. Belo
TRINITY - Thomas Edward Belo, 83, of 5893 Tom Hill Road, Archdale, died Tuesday, March 17, 1998, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Bethel-Glenola United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Charles Tyson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, a retired brick mason and concrete finisher and was a member of the United Methodist Men, former Sunday School teacher and superintendent and lay leader and treasurer at his church.

Surviving are wife, Viola Green Belo of the home; sons, Coyt L. Belo of Oxon Hill, Md., Clifford D. Belo of Lumberton, Larry R. Belo of High Point, Thomas W. Belo of Greensboro, Edwin G. Belo of Winston-Salem; sisters, Nina B. Coltrane, Bessie B. Green, Pauline Belo, all of Cedar Square, Annie Ruth B. Clinton of Gibsonville, Ophelia B. Parker of Trinity, Hilda B. Rector of Winston-Salem, Dovie B. Rush, Juanita B. Jones, both of High Point; brothers, Ray Belo of Archdale, Winfred L. Belo of High Point; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Haizlip Funeral Home, High Point, 8-9 p.m. Friday, other times at the home.

Zelma K. Pugh

LIBERTY - Zelma Kivett Pugh, 87, formerly of Liberty, died Wednesday, March 18, 1998, at Mountainview Care Center in Asheboro.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty. Burial will be in Grays Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County and a member of First United Methodist Church in Liberty.

Surviving are daughters, Jean York of Liberty, Cynthia Smith of Emerald Isle; sister, Nora Lineberry of Liberty; one grandson; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home of A.B. and Jean York, 516 E. Ridge Ave., Liberty.

Nora H. Dodson

JULIAN - Nora Hawkins Dodson, 96, formerly of 7076 Arrington Road, died Wednesday, March 18, 1998, at Carol Lee Elderly Care Home in Liberty.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park.

She was a native of Stokes County and the widow of Robert "Bob" Dodson.

Surviving are son, Carl Dodson of Julian; five grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

Surviving are son, Alfred Wooten of Greensboro; sisters, Hazel Smith, Evon Caviness, Novella Shamburger; two grandsons.

The family will be at the church 1-2 p.m. Friday.

James P. Dorsett, 71, of 524 Dellwood Ave., Asheboro, died Thursday, March 19, 1998, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro.

Lalar S. Trogdon

Lalar Pauline Strickland Trogdon, 90, of 516 Cross St., Asheboro, died Monday, March 16, 1998, at Clapps Convalescent Nursing Home, Asheboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Church of God of Prophecy. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County and a homemaker.

Surviving are sons, Bishop Barney Trogdon of Asheboro, Albert Lewis Trogdon of South Haven, Mich., John C. Trogdon of Harvey, Ill.; daughters, Fleecy Marie Landfair of Dolton, Ill., Elesteen Covington of Harvey, Ill.; sister, Fleacy M. Hill of Asheboro; 15 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 6-8 p.m. Saturday.

LaRue B. Cox Sr.

TRINITY - LaRue Bynum Cox Sr., 79, of 102 English Court, died Wednesday, March 18, 1998, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Poplar Ridge Friends Meeting, where he was a member, with the Rev. Randy Quate officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Asheboro, retired from Caroline Springs Inc. and was a member of the Christian Fellowship Sunday School class and of the Quaker Men at his church.

Surviving are wife, Frances Allred Cox of the home; son, LaRue B. Cox Jr. of Trinity; daughters, Judy Hewett of Trinity, Carol Dickerson of Wilmington, Donna Shaw of Asheboro; brother, David Z. Cox of Asheboro; sisters, Sylvia Moffitt, Pansy Garrison, both of Asheboro, Elsie Parker of Ocala, Fla., Exie Beck of Norfolk, Va.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Cumby Mortuary, Archdale, 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday, other times at the home of the son, 117 Brandon Lane, Trinity.

Faye K. Kernodle

PLEASANT GARDEN - Faye Kirkman Kernodle, 80, of 5316 N.C. 22, died Thursday, March 19, 1998, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Guilford County, the widow of James W. "Curley" Kernodle, formerly employed with Bates Nightware in Greensboro and a homemaker.

Surviving are daughter, Sherry K. Hinshaw of Pleasant Garden; brother, B. Lee Kirkman of Greensboro; sisters, Edith K. Dunham of Pleasant Garden, JoAnn Gurley of Greensboro; three grandchildren.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty, 7-9 p.m. Friday, other times at the home of the daughter, 6609 McClintock Road, Pleasant Garden.

Norman R. Cranford

THOMASVILLE - Norman Ray Cranford, 58, of 418 Davidson St., died Thursday, March 19, 1998, at his home.

Funeral service will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, Thomasville, with the Rev. Kenneth Miller officiating. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.

He was a native of Davidson County, of the Baptist faith and was a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard and of the Army Reserves.

Surviving are wife, Joyce Allred Cranford of the home; daughters, Karen C. Heitkamp of Thomasville, Lori Harrison of Jacksonville, Audrey C. Swarers of Thomasville; son, Kevin Cranford of High Point; mother, Mary Frances Hill Cranford of Archdale; sister, Shirley Hunt of High Point; brother, Kenneth Cranford of Christiansburg, Va.; 11 grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Friday, other times at the home.

BENNETT - Gerta Brown Cox, 84, of 6660 Carl Cox Road, died Thursday, March 19, 1998, at Chatham Hospital, Siler City.

She was a native of Randolph County and retired from Blue Bell.

Surviving are daughters, Nancy Kidd of Bennett, Margaret Hayes of Asheboro, Joan McRae of Troy, Jane Gordon of Bennett; sons, Melvin Cox of Bennett, Norris Cox of Baltimore, Md.; brother, Harvey Brown of Bennett; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

The family will be at Joyce-Brady Funeral Home, Bennett, 7-9 p.m. Saturday.

Clyde M. Smithey Sr.

ELON COLLEGE - Clyde Milton Smithey Sr., 84, of 2670 Elon Ossipee Road, died Thursday, March 19, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Altamahaw Baptist Church, where he was a member, with Dr. Van Christopher and the Rev. Felton Massey officiating. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.

He was a native of Alamance County, retired from Burlington Industries after 40 years and from Carolina Biological Supply after 13 years and was a U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are wife, Minnie Lea Kernodle Smithey of the home; daughters, Judy S. Montgomery of Denton, Peggy S. Moore of Burlington; sons, David L. Smithey of Efland, C. Milton Smithey Jr. of Elon College; sister, Ruth Saul of Altamahaw; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home, Burlington, 6-8 p.m. Friday, other times at the home.
