SILER CITY - Matherina E. Foust of 625 E. 11th St., died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at her home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Pine Hill United Church of Christ, where she was a member, with the Rev. Ricky Dawson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Chatham County.

Surviving is brother, Richard Bailey of Siler City.

Farrar Funeral Service, Siler City, is in charge of the arrangements.

Clinton D. Kelly II
TROY - Clinton Daniel "Danny" Kelly II, 43, of 3730 Pekin Road, Candor, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Parsons Grove United Methodist Church, Candor, with the Rev. Peggy Dunkin-Wood, the Rev. Max Wood and the Rev. Doug Shuff officiating.

He was a native of Montgomery County and formerly employed with Klaussner Furniture Industries, Asheboro.

Surviving are sons, Brant Kelly of Robbins, Levi Kelly of Candor, Jesse Kelly of Gainesville; parents, Clinton and Lucille Dennis Kelly of Candor; sister, Darlene Safrit of Troy; brother, David Keith Kelly of Candor.

The family will be at the church 7-9 p.m. Sunday.

Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, Troy, is in charge of the arrangements.

EAGLE SPRINGS - Thomas Grady "Tommy" Garner, 51, of 404 Noah Road, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at New Testament Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Thomas Horner and the Rev. Ray Brooks officiating. Burial will be in the Garner Family cemetery.

He was an electrician and a member of the Men's Sunday School Class at his church.

Surviving are wife, Ginger Burns Garner; daughter, Dawn G. Hussey of Robbins; son, Thomas Steven Garner of the home; parents, Henry and Lillian H. Garner of Robbins; brother, Johnny Garner of Robbins; sisters, Betty G. McNeill, Helen G. Ritter, Peggy G. Hussey, all of Robbins, Margaret G. McNeill, Geraldine G. Wright, Thelma G. Ritter, all of Star.

ASHEBORO - William Ray Stevenson, 73, of 910 Uwharrie Street, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at West Bend United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. David C. Noyes officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County and was owner and operator of Stevenson and Cannon Recapping of Asheboro.

Surviving are wife, Carletta Cox Stevenson of Asheboro; son, Don Stevenson of Asheboro; sister, Polly Beane of Asheboro; brother, J.C. Stevenson of Asheboro; two grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Monday and other times at the home of Athel and Jane Cox, 2014 Harvell St., Asheboro.

Edith C. Logan
ASHEBORO - Edith Cole Logan, 87, 1302 Old Cox Road, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation of Asheboro.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro, with Dr. Ron Hamilton officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. in Grace Chapel Church Cemetery, Sanford, with the Rev. Robert H. Morrison Jr. officiating.

She was a Lee County native, the widow of Asa W. Logan, a member of Ephesus Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Surviving are daughters, Estelle P. Branson and Bonnie P. Tucker, both of Asheboro; son, Jerry C. Poole of Greensboro; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-greatgrandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Monday and other times at the home of Estelle P. Branson, 119 Westside Circle, Asheboro.

ROBBINS - Sara Ussery McNeill, 76, of 148 Rushwood Road, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, at Pinelake Health & Rehabilitation Center, Carthage.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Ernest Ferrell officiating. Burial will be in Pine Rest Cemetery.

She was a native of Montgomery County, retired from Clayson Hosiery in Star, the former owner and operator of Robbins Fabric Shop, and a member of the Esther Williams Sunday School class and the Sunshine Club at her church.

Surviving are husband, Leland W. McNeill of the home; daughter, Myra M. Hamilton of Siler City; two grandchildren.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and other times at the home.

Mrs. Richard (Jeanie) Harris
SILER CITY - Mrs. Richard (Jeanie) Harris, 51, of 18 Pine Forest Drive, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, Siler City, where she was a member, with the Rev. Joe Casteel officiating. Burial will be in Chatham Memorial Park, Siler City.

She was a native of Rowan County, a graduate of Boyden High School and Wingate College. She was retired from Farm Credit Bureau in Asheboro and was an administrative board member of her church and a retired Sunday School teacher.

Surviving are husband, Richard Byrd Harris Jr. of Siler City; son, Parker Trent Harris of Siler City; mother, Betty Driscoll Waddell of Salisbury; stepfather, Robert L. Waddell of Salisbury; brother, Rick Driscoll of Spencer; sister, Diane Wike of Rockwell; stepbrother; Thomas P. Waddell of Downingtown, Pa.; stepsisters, Carol Arp of Davenport, Iowa, and Beth Waddell of Charlotte.

The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-9 p.m. Monday and other times at the home.

Margaret P. Benedict
ST. CLOUD, Fla. - Margaret Pritchard Benedict, 79, of West New Nolte Road, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000.

Funeral service and burial was in Charleston, S.C.

She was a Randolph County native, the widow of LeRoy Benedict, a former Dean of Women at Charleston Southern University, a member of Alpha Delta Kappa and a retired former teacher and founding principal of First Baptist Church School of Charleston.

Surviving are daughters, Rebecca B. Gay of Kissimmee, Fla., and Margaret B. Cauthen of Hilton Head, S.C.; sons, Lee Benedict of Charleston, S.C. and Stephen Benedict of Clemson, S.C.; sisters, Anna Lee Johnson and Elizabeth Buchanan, both of Asheboro, Phyllis Palmer of Columbia, S.C. and Sara Glover of Charleston, S.C.; brother, Truman Pritchard of Asheboro; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were made by Grissom Funeral Home & Crematory, Kissimmee, Fla.

Virginia R. Teague
PITTSBORO - Virginia Roberson Teague, 73, of 4640 Silk Hope-Gum Springs Road, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, at her home.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Sapling Ridge United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Paul Edwards officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Chatham County and retired from Farm Credit of Siler City.

Surviving are husband, Floyd Teague Jr. of Pittsboro; daughter, Diane Teague Campbell of Siler City; son, Donald Ray Teague of Pittsboro; sisters, Ruth R. Clark of Pittsboro, Curtis Bradford of Siler City and Myrna Way of Sanford; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-9 p.m. Monday and other times at the home.

RAMSEUR - Anthony Cheek of 325 Elm St. died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Edward Grove Baptist Church, Liberty. Burial will be in Oakland Church Cemetery, Ramseur.

Surviving are mother, Virginia Bittle Cheek of the home; father, Johnny Waddell Cheek of Ramseur; brother, Grant Cheek of Ramseur; sister, Song Siler of Ramseur.

The family will be at the church one hour prior to the service.

DENTON - Sandy Mark Snider, 53, of 501 Sexton Road, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Tom's Creek Primitive Baptist Church, with Elder Hale Terry and Elder Don Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Guilford County, a graduate of Denton High School, a Vietnam War U.S. Army veteran, a retired mail carrier with the U.S. Post Office in Archdale and a member of the Primitive Baptist faith.

Surviving are wife, Diane Gallimore Snider of the home; sons, Darren Snider and Chad Snider, both of the home; daughter, Brandi Snider of the home; mother, Hazel G. Snider of Denton; brothers, Timothy Snider of Lexington, Jonathan Snider of Little Rock, Ark., Harold Snider and Kent Snider, both of Denton; sisters, Vickie Hedrick of Eden, Jill Snider of Chapel Hill.

The family will be at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

TROY - Esther Boyd Campbell, 93, of 1049 Pekin Road, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, at Autumn Care of Biscoe.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Parsons Grove United Methodist Church, where she was the oldest member, with the Rev. Peggy Dunkin-Wood and the Rev. Max Wood officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Montgomery County, the widow of Jessie Talmadge Campbell and a homemaker.

Surviving are daughter, Zelma C. Russell of Rock Hill, S.C.; son, Thomas Cecil Campbell of Troy; brother, Pate Boyd of Greensboro; sister, Mary lla Blake of Star; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, Troy, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Paul W. Kinney
ASHEBORO - Paul Wesley Kinney, 87, of 4331 U.S. 64 East, Asheboro, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, at Clapp's Nursing Home, Asheboro.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant Cross Christian Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Jeff Maness officiating.

He was a Randolph County native and retired from Pugh Oil Co.

Surviving are sisters, Helen Rich and Nellie Moore, both of Asheboro.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home of Helen Rich, 4251 U.S. 64 East, Asheboro.

Malvern J. Barber
CARTHAGE - Malvern J. Barber, 69, of West Elsdon Neighborhood, Chicago, Ill., died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, at MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, Ill.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Cross Hill Cemetery, Carthage, with the Rev. Dr. Gerald Peterson officiating.

He was a retired welder at PACO Corp. and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Esther B. Campbell

LAURINBURG - Susie Maie Porter, 86, of Scotia Village, formerly of Rockingham, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Scotia Village. Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Marks Funeral Home, Rockingham, with the Rev. David Jordan officiating. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Rockingham.

Surviving are sisters, Catherine Woodbury of Asheboro and Grace P. McLaurin of Laurinburg.

The family will be at the funeral home 1:30-3 p.m. Wednesday.

Hilda K. Fagge
REIDSVILLE - Hilda Key Fagge, 76, of 1008 Highland Drive, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, at the home of her son.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Greenview Cemetery, with Dr. Robert Kerr officiating.

She was a native of Rockingham, the widow of William C. Fagge, a retired teacher from Reidsville City Schools after 30 years and was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church.

Surviving are son, Michael K. Fagge of Greensboro; daughter, Kay F. Thorp of Statesville; brothers, L.A. Key of Mt. Gilead, W.E. Key of Asheboro; four grandchildren; one stepgrandchild.

There will be no visitation.

Citty Funeral Home, Reidsville, is in charge of the arrangements.

ASHEBORO - Pauline Winslow, 81, of 129 East St., Asheboro, died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Rushwood Park Wesleyan Church, where she was a member, with Dr. Ron Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Science Hill Friends Meeting Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, a retired textile worker, a former Sunday School secretary-treasurer and teacher and a member of the church's Ladies Missionary Group.

Surviving are sister, Anna Bell Hoofner of Carnsville, Ga.; brother, Worth Winslow of Denton.

The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

FRANKLINVILLE - Lonnie W. Lockhart, 69, of 4917 U.S. 64 East, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Shady Grove United Methodist Church, Asheboro.

Surviving are daughters, Deborah Lockhart and Terri Lockhart, both of Ramseur; sons, Elton Lockhart of Liberty, Wendell Lockhart of Owings Mills, Md., Kelvin Lockhart of Asheboro; brothers, Fred Lockhart of Winston-Salem, Robert Lockhart of Long Island, N.Y., Roosevelt Lockhart and Edgar Lockhart, both of Charlotte; sister, Carolyn McClurkin of Charlotte.

The family will be at the church 1:30-2 p.m. Saturday.
