PITTSBORO - Lacy Coble, 83, of 1393 Hillsborough St., died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, at Laurel Hill Nursing Home, Pittsboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at C.C. Hodges Funeral Home, Asheboro, with Bishop J. Harold Williams officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvery Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County and a former employee of the City of Asheboro.

Surviving are sister, Elnora C. Lloyd of the home; brother, Leo Coble of Bennett.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8 p.m. Thursday.

Bernice B. Brown
THOMASVILLE - Bernice Bowden Brown, 89, formerly of Fairgrove Road, died Tuesday, Dec. l9, 2OOO, in the Piedmont Center.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, at First Presbyterian Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Robert Hann officiating.

She was a native of Stanly County, the widow of Sterling M. Brown, and a graduate of James Madison University in Virginia. She taught school in North Garden and Stoney Point Virginia and in Thomasville. She was past president of the Presbyterian Women and honorary member of the Presbyterian Women.

Surviving is son, John Sterling Brown of Asheboro.

The family will receive friends following the memorial service in the church parlor.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 21 Randolph St., Thomasville, N.C. 27360.

Mary S. Bray
WINSTON-SALEM - Mary Saxon Bray, 85, of Winston-Salem, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, at her home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, at Trinity Moravian Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Patrick Garner officiating. Burial will be in Holly Springs Friends cemetery in Ramseur.

She was a native of Randolph County, served on the Archives Committee and the Central Board of Elders at her church, and was a Bible Study leader for the Women's Circle. She was a history teacher at Gray and Parkland High Schools in Winston-Salem.

Surviving are brother, Howard Bray of Pensacola, Fla.

The family will be at Vogler & Sons Funeral Home, Main St., Winston-Salem, 2-4 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Moravian Church, 220 East Sprague St., Winston-Salem, N.C. 27127.

Ted E. Brady
ASHEBORO - Ted Ervin Brady, 61, of 2412 Burney Road, Asheboro, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, at Asheboro Health & Rehabilitation.

Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Friday at Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery, Franklinville, with the Rev. Adrian Pugh officiating.

He was a native of Davidson County, and was formerly employed with Dick Weeks Construction, Phillips Country Ham and Jimmy Ward Hardwood.

Surviving are son, Mike Brady of Asheboro; sisters, Bonnie Luck of Asheboro, Irene Ward of Monroe, Sandra Allred of Cedar Falls; brother, Tom Brady of Franklinville.

The family will be at the church following the service.

Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, is in charge of the arrangements.

ASHEBORO - Sadie Simmons Flowers, of 909 Center St., Asheboro, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Covington Missionary Baptist Church, Troy. Burial will be in Oakhill Cemetery, Candor.

Surviving are daughters, Martha Smith of Philadelphia, Pa., Cindy Taylor of Troy; sons, John Flowers of Mt. Airy, James Flowers of Rockingham, Rev. Joe Flowers of Asheboro, Randel Flowers of Victorville, Calif., Perry Flowers of Troy, Rev. Charles Flowers of San Antonio, Texas; sister, Mary Jones of Baltimore, Md.; 23 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the church 7-8 p.m. Friday, other times at the home.

ASHEBORO - Harvey Albert Rush, 62, of 2226 Doul Mountain Road, Asheboro, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, at his home.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at New Union United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Lee Roy Hunt officiating.

He was a native of Randolph County and formerly employed with Teague's Exxon.

Surviving are daughter, Pamela R. Sessoms of Asheboro; son, Jeffrey Lynn Rush of Star; sister, Mary Lou Craven of Seagrove; brother, Nash Rush of Asheboro; five grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Lolene C. Craven
RANDLEMAN - Lolene Cruthis Craven, 69, of 786 Hollingsworth Road, died Wednesday Dec. 20, 2000, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation for Asheboro.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, with Wade Craven officiating. Burial will be in Eleazer United Methodist Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Stacy Craven and was a homemaker.

Surviving are daughter, Kathy C. Spillman of Randleman; sons, Marty H. Craven of Sophia, Craigory D. Craven of Randleman; sisters, Rosie C. Hedgecock and Colen C. Mize, both of Climax, Georgia C. Jackson of High Point; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Winfred L. Cassady
SEAGROVE - Winfred L. Cassady, 88, of 4841 Piney Ridge Church Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Piney Ridge United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Pamela Blackstock officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County and was owner and operator of Cassady Store in Piney Ridge.

Surviving are wife, Callie P. Cassady of the home; daughters, Maire Winston and Faye Leach, both of Piney Ridge; sons, Winfred L. Cassady Jr. of the home, Carllee Cassady of Piney Ridge, Tommy McMaster of Asheboro; sisters, Elsie Robinson, Alberta Brown and Louise James, all of Greensboro; brother, Denver Cassady of Pleasant Hill; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at C.C. Hodges Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Ernest L. Deaton Jr.
TROY - Ernest Lee Deaton Jr., 69, of 223 Taft St., died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital, Troy.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Vnited Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Mike Elliott officiating. Burial will be in Southside Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites.

He was a native of Montgomery County, owner/operator of Deaton Distributing Company, a member of Troy Masonic Lodge #718 and was on the advisory board of the Boy Scouts.

Surviving are wife, Katie Kern Deaton of the home; daughters, Reba D. Hatfield of Charlotte, Jane Lee Deaton of Houston, Texas; sisters, Patsy Maness of Troy, Viva Jones of Raleigh.

The family will be at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, Troy, 7-9 p.m. Saturday, other times at the home.

Daniel Locklear
ABERDEEN - Daniel Locklear, 70, of 1105 Reservation Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Turnpike Baptist Church, Raeford, with the Rev. Stoney Locklear and the Rev. EarI Henderson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Robeson County and a retired farmer.

Surviving are sons, Harold Jackson, Robert Locklear, both of Franklinton, Johnny Jackson, Gary Locklear, both of Aberdeen, Chris Locklear, Daniel Locklear, both of Shallotte; daughters, Carolyn McMillan of Aberdeen, Polly Locklear of Franklinton; 24 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the church 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

Lola C. Ward
ASHEBORO - Lola Carlisle Ward, 83, of 950 Cliff Road, Asheboro, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at Randolph Hospital.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, at First Baptist Church, where she was a member, with Dr. John S. Rogers officiating.

She was a native of Randleman, retired from Acme-McCrary, was past commander of the D.A.V. and was active with the Randolph County Senior Adults Center.

Surviving are son, Mike Ward of Seagrove; two grandsons.

The family will be at the church following the memorial service.

Rabon H. Wolford
ASHEBORO - Rabon Headen Wolford, 61, of 318 Cherokee St., Asheboro, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at Asheboro Health and Rehabilitation.

Memorial service will be 7 p.m. Saturday, at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, with the Rev. John Sides officiating.

He was a native of Grundy, Va., formerly worked for General Steel in High Point and was a shipbuilder in Maryland.

Surviving are son, Jerry Wolford of Randleman; daughters, Kathy W. Cline of Grundy, Va., Tamie A. Cowan of High Point; sister, Loretta Mode of High Point; four grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 5:30-6:30 p.m. Saturday.

LIBERTY - William Howard Fogleman, 81, of 1532 Fogleman-Hargis Lane, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at Alamance Regional Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, at Pleasant Hill Christian Church, with the Rev. Howard Spray officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Alamance County, attended Pleasant Hill Christian Church, was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, and a retired farmer.

Surviving is sister, Ollie Fogleman Fox of Liberty.

She was a native of Davidson County and was employed with Lexington Furniture Industries.

Surviving are husband, John E. Pope of Denton; sons, Joel Sexton, James H. Sexton, both of Denton; brother, Billy Davis of Lexington; three grandchildren.

The family will be at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, 6-8 p.m. Saturday.

BISCOE - Nancy Louise Harris Rouse, 74, of 663 S. Main St., died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at her home.

Surviving are son, William Edward Rouse of Troy; daughter, Sylvia R. Sain of North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; sister, Grace Greene of Candor; brother, Page Harris of Troy; three grandchildren.

Evander H. Barnes
GREENSBORO - Evander Harley Barnes, 75, of 109 S. Holden Road, formerly of Fayetteville, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000.

Private funeral services will be held.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, where he served in the 82nd Airborne Division.

Surviving are sons, Danny R. Barnes of Greensboro, Ronnie B. Barnes and Randy C. Barnes, both of Asheboro, Robin D. Barnes of Randleman; daughters, Donna M. Barnes of Franklinville, Diane L. Barnes of Randleman, Tammy J. Barnes of Level Cross; brother, Luther Barnes of Wade; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

She was a native of Moore County and site manager for Waste Management Co. in Pinebluff and Sanford.

He was a native of Greensboro and an insurance agent having worked most recently with Western Southern Life Insurance Company.
