BANDON, Ore. - William E. "Bill" Hall, 68, of Bandon, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, in Bandon.

A memorial service was held at Faith Baptist Church in Bandon, where he was a member.

He was a native of Randleman, a U.S. Air Force veteran, and was retired from government service at McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento, Calif.

Surviving are wife, Betty Hall; sons, Rodney W. Hall of Sacramento, Calif., Brian R. Hall of St. Stephen, S.C.; daughter, Donna Gail Scari of Davis, Calif.; sister, Edna Moody of Asheboro; five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Faith Baptist Church, U.S. 101 South, Bandon, Ore. 97411.

Amling/Schroeder Funeral Service, Bandon, was in charge of the arrangements.

Alta M. Ledwell
ASHEBORO - Alta Merritt Ledwell, 88, of 672 Hillbrook Drive, Asheboro, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at Randolph Hospital.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Randolph Memorial Park, and a memorial service will be at 2 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Robert Armstrong and the Rev. Mark C. Beane officiating.

She was a native of Rockingham County, retired from General Electric, a member of Central Wesleyan Church and a volunteer with the Salt Box.

Surviving are husband, Leon E. Ledwell; daughters, Sandra L. Allen, Susan L. Stout, both of Asheboro; sister, Mary M. Bailey of Asheboro; brother, Roy E. Merritt of Asheboro; three grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home following memorial service.

Bill Stephens
ASHEBORO - Billy Joe Stephens, 69, of 1403 Timberlane Road, Asheboro, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at Carolina Beach.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Robert Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

He was a native of Chatham County, retired from Vestal Motor Company, and was a U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are wife, Golda Hill Stephens of the home; mother, Wilma Stephens Bridges of Julian; sister, Rachel "Tootle" Holt of Level Cross.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Friday, other times at the home.

RANDLEMAN - Myrtle L. Coble, 87, of Asheboro Health and Rehabilitation Center, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Alamance County.

Surviving are son, Bobby Hunt of Randleman; sisters, Nellie Smith, Lois Spoon, both of Liberty, Gladys Kernodle of Graham; brothers, Vance Coble of Liberty, Vernon Coble of Snow Camp; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty, 6-8 p.m. Friday.

Dylan Loveland
RANDLEMAN - Dylan Jefferson Loveland, age 2 days, of 679 Holly Grove Drive, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at Women's Hospital, Greensboro.

Graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Randolph Memorial Park, with Pastor Lemuel Hardison officiating.

Surviving are parents, Chad and Gina Loveland of the home; brother, Cole Loveland of the home; grandparents, Sue and Mark Ligon of Reidsville, Kenneth Wayne Mitchell of Dexter, Ga., John and Katrina Loveland of Randleman; great-grandparents, Nellie Little of Johnson City, Tenn., Elizabeth Loveland of Shelby, Riley and Arlene Meeks of Virginia.

Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, is in charge of the arrangements.

Bennie W. Sheffield
BISCOE - Bennie Wayne Sheffield, 45, of 17372 N.C. 24-27 E., died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at UNC Hospitals.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, at Pine Grove Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Billy Reynolds and the Rev. Lowell Brown officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Masonic rites.

He was a native of Moore County, a welder-pipe fitter, served as chairman of the Deacons, choir leader, Sunday School teacher, and was a member of Elise Masonic Lodge 555.

Surviving are wife, Cynthia Hancock Sheffield of Biscoe; daughter, Ashley Marlynne Sheffield of the home; sons, Benjamin Wayne Sheffield, Casey Austin Sheffield, both of the home; brother, Kerry Mark Sheffield of Star; sister, Teresa Collier of Hope Mills; parents, Bennie and Shirley Myrick Sheffield of Biscoe.

The family will be at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, 7-9 p.m. Friday, other times at 856 Browns Chapel Road, Robbins.

TRINITY - Christopher Todd Beane Sr., 34, of 1123 Plantation Way, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Holly's Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church, where he attended, with Pastor James Stowe and Chaplain Wofford C. Boyd officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, a graduate of Asheboro High School, a U.S. Navy Gulf War veteran, former Capitol Police Officer in Washington, D.C. and was currently employed with the Greensboro Police Department.

Surviving are wife, Donna Lee Beane; daughter, Donna Elizabeth Beane of the home; son, Christopher Todd Beane Jr. of the home; father, Walter Harris Beane of Asheboro; mother, Sylvia Diane Weller of Asheboro; grandparents, Sarah Ruth Williams, Wallace and Viola Beane, all of Asheboro; brothers, Justin Auman, Jonathan Auman, both of Asheboro; sisters, Jennifer Walker, Lynette Hall, Sharon Beane, all of Asheboro.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Pleasant Hill UMC Cemetery, with the Rev. Terry Kersey officiating.

He was a native of Randolph County, the widower of Wannie Louise Hancock and was retired from Central Chair Co.

Surviving are son, Don Cagle of Lexington; sister, Viola Foster of Asheboro; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, 6-8 p.m. Sunday, other times at the home of daughter-in-law, Glennie Hancock, 1792 Buffalo Ford Road, Asheboro.

ASHEBORO - Brandon Ray Eckert Thompson, infant son of Christine Thompson and David Eckert, of 285 Pleasant Cross Road, Asheboro, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at Randolph Hospital.

Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Chimney Lane Church of God, with the Rev. Rodney Holloman officiating.

Surviving are mother, Christine Thompson of Asheboro; father, David Eckert of Asheboro; grandparents, Steven and Brenda Thompson, Randy and Joyce Woodell, all of Asheboro, Russell and Gail Harrington of Tazewell, Va.; great-grandparents, Donnie and Judy Garner, Ray Thompson, Faye Parker, Marie Patterson, all of Asheboro; great-great-grandparents, Loretta Hughes of Asheboro, Bernice Martin of Liberty.

RAMSEUR - Claude Albert Tucker, 87, of 1394 Church St., died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at the home of his daughter.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Sunset Knoll Cemetery, with military honors, with the Rev. Richard Wright officiating.

He was a native of Randleman, the widower of Mary Jane Poe Tucker, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and was retired from Burlington Mills.

Surviving are sons, Roy A. Tucker of Asheboro, Claude E. Tucker of Ramseur, Thomas L. Tucker of Randleman, Robert P. Tucker of Ashland, Va.; daughter, Sally T. Parker of Ramseur; sisters, Lilly Mae Linthicum of Sophia, Christine Brantley of Asheboro, Katie Underwood of Randleman; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, 7-9 p.m. Sunday.

Lyle H. 'Shorty' Brinkley
CLIMAX - Lyle Hanes Brinkley, 74, of 2954 Underwood Road, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.

There will be a private service at a later date.

He was a resident of Randolph County, a World War II U.S. Army veteran and was retired from Western Electric.

Surviving are wife, Irene Brinkley of Climax; daughter, Tammi Coble of Greensboro; brother, Bill Brinkley of Siler City; sister, Brenda Staley of Staley; three grandchildren.

Scott M. Biscoe
DENTON - Scott Michael Biscoe, 47, of 274 N. Main St., died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at Community General Hospital in Thomasville.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, with Father John Fitzpatrick officiating. Burial will be in Mt. View Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

He was a native of St. Petersburg, Fla., a graduate of the University of Mississippi, a member of the Denton Volunteer Fire Department, was employed by Aramark as a resident vending manager, and was secretary-treasurer of the Siler-Rand Bowling Association.

Surviving are wife, Sandra Biscoe of the home; son, Cory Biscoe of the home; daughter, Heather Biscoe of Denton; parents, Leonard and Marjean Biscoe of Denton; brother, Billy Biscoe of Denton; one grandson.

The family will be at the funeral home 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday.

Addie M. Sheffield
ASHEBORO - Addie Morgan Sheffield, 82, formerly of 954 McDermott St., Asheboro, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation of Asheboro.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Randolph Memorial Park, with the Rev. Hubert McLeod officiating.

She was a native of Moore County, a retired florist and a member of Pilgrim Holiness Church.

Surviving are daughters, Rachel Lewis, Joann Rouse Cole, both of Asheboro; sons, Thomas L. Davis of Randleman, Robert G. Davis of Eleazer; half sisters, Geneva Freeman of Star, Lettie Mae Garner of Seagrove; half brothers, Charlie Morgan, Donnie Morgan, both of Star; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Monday, other times at the home of Rachel Lewis, 530 Windsor Drive, Asheboro.

Wilson Strider
ASHEBORO - Wilson Strider, 87, of 709 Mack Road, Asheboro, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Brower's Wesleyan Church, where he attended, with the Rev. Floyd Miller, the Rev. Ernest Beck and the Rev. Rodney Purcell officiating. Burial will be in High Pine Wesleyan Church Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, the widower of Vesta Strider and was retired from Phillips Brothers Country Ham.

Surviving are daughter, Jo Ann S. Harris of Asheboro; son, Donald Strider of Asheboro; foster son, C.W. Newsom of Seagrove; sisters, Ineze Jennings, Alta Mae Laughlin, both of Asheboro; brothers, Howard Strider, Roy (John) Strider, both of Asheboro; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, 6-9 p.m. Monday, other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Strider, 1654 Hopewell Friends Road, Asheboro.

RAMSEUR - Edna Poole Hudson, 68, of 349 E. Ridge St., died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at her home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Jordan Memorial United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Mary Miller and the Rev. Justus McKeel officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Knoll Cemetery.

A native of Randolph County, she was retired from Ramseur School and served as the Children's Sunday School teacher at her church.

Surviving are husband, James Maxton Hudson; sons, James Neal Hudson of Sanford, Eric Milton Hudson, Kenneth Lee Hudson, both of Wallburg; daughter, Joy Ann Hudson of Greensboro; brother, Larry York of Asheboro; sisters, Anna Lou Macon of Carolina Beach, Jennie Branson of High Point; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

WEST END - Jesse Lee Wright, 71, of 292 MacDonald Drive, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Suggs Creek Primitive Church Cemetery, Star, with the Rev. Hubert McLeod and the Rev. Reggie Rake officiating.

He was a native of Montgomery County and a retired furniture manufacturing employee.

Surviving are daughters, Nancy Anderson of Bonlee, Rebecca Wright of Star; sister, Myrtle Wright of Troy; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

There will be no visitation.

She was a native of Randolph County and was retired from Crawford Knitting.

Cross of Asheboro; daughter, Cathy Parrish of Lexington; stepdaughter, Vickie Tucker of Asheboro; sister, Orene Akers of Asheboro; brother, Bobby Morris of Asheboro; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

SILER CITY - Daniel Lacy Stout, 89, of 117 Red Terry Road, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, with Ken and Pat Thames officiating. Burial will be in Rocky River Baptist Cemetery.

He was a native of Chatham County, a member of Plainfield Friends Meeting, and was a retired carpenter with Van Thomas Construction.

Surviving are wife, Alene Culberson Stout of Siler City; brothers, Edgar Stout of Greensboro, Clayton Stout of Liberty.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Monday.
