ASHEBORO - Arlene Roberts Goins, 65, of 1651 Luck Road, Asheboro, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Asheboro First Wesleyan Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Mark C. Beane and the Rev. A.J. Kendrick officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Randolph County, retired from Fox Apparel and was a Sunday School teacher, choir member and assistant Sunday School superintendent at her church.

Surviving are husband, David Goins; daughter, Patricia Bennett of Asheboro; sons, Bruce Goins, Doug Goins, both of Asheboro; sisters, Ethel Brown, Lizzie Barnes, both of Asheboro; brothers, Willard Roberts, Leonard Roberts, both of Asheboro, Billy Roberts of Star; three grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Larry F. Williamson
SEAGROVE - Larry Franklin "Rooster" Williamson, 52, of 3386 Trinity Church Road, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2001, at his home.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Jack Kivett officiating.

He was a native of Randolph County, a member of West Bend United Methodist Church, self-employed and a former employee of Tom Robbin's TCI Home Improvement.

Surviving are wife, Luthenna Joyce Williamson of the home; daughter, Angela Marie Williamson of Ider, Ala.; sons, Brian Williamson, Alan Williamson, both of Ider, Ala.; stepson, Michael Dwayne Wilkerson of Asheboro; mother, Margaret Owen Williamson of Asheboro; sister, Rebecca Ann Pennell of Asheboro; one grandchild.

The family will be at the home of his mother, 1096 Mack Road, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday; at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, 9-10 a.m. Thursday; and at the home following the service.

Dalton W. Cockman
ROBBINS - Dalton Wayne Cockman, infant son of Heather Ann Fowler and Jesse Wayne Cockman of 120 Oak St., died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Tabernacle United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Edwin Moore officiating.

Surviving in addition to the parents are sister, Carrie Ann Cockman of the home; grandparents, Diane M. Hernandez, Lisa Brown Cockman, both of Robbins, Francis Allen Fowler of Wilkesbarre, Pa.; great-grandmother, Sylvia Farlowe of Robbins.

The family will be at the home of Sylvia Farlowe, 260 Church St., Robbins.

Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, is in charge of the arrangements.

Myrtle J. Kimlin
TROY - Myrtle Olean Jordan Kimlin died Monday, Sept. 3, 2001, at her home.

Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, at All Souls Episcopal Church in Asheboro.

R.C. Bostic Funeral Service, Candor, is in charge of the arrangements.

JACKSON SPRINGS - Lester William "Bill" Wilson, 69, of 551 Morganton Road, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001, at his home.

There will be no funeral service.

He was a native of Montgomery County.

Surviving are daughters, Brenda Wehrle of Yuma, Ariz., Sheila Arnoldin of Missoula, Mont., Betty Shipp of Raleigh; sister, Essie Brown of Ether; brother, Ed Wilson of Cascade, Mont.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home, Candor, 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Jack J. Williams
CARTHAGE - Jack J. Williams, 76, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2001, at his home.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home, Carthage, with the Rev. David Coffey Jr. officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in Cross Hill Cemetery.

He was a native of Carthage, the widower of Betty Doyle Wallace Williams and Aline Muse Metcalf Williams, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II where he was a prisoner of war. He was the retired owner/operator of Jack Williams Insurance Agency, served as mayor of Carthage, was the Man of The Year in 1957 and a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he taught the Men's Bible Class. He was a member of Carthage Lodge #181 A.F. & A.M. Masonic Lodge and Southern Pines Elks Lodge #1692.

Surviving are wife, Elizabeth Horner Williams; sister, Elaine W. McCallum of McColl, S.C.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home.

Donald B. Hurley
ASHEBORO - Donald Bain Hurley, 80, of 580 Peachtree St., Asheboro, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001, at UNC-Hospitals, Chapel Hill.

Funeral service will 2 p.m. Saturday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Junior Dawkins officiating. Burial will be in Macedonia United Methodist Church cemetery.

He was a native of Badin and a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are brothers, Junior Hurley of Asheboro, Raymond Hurley of Stuart, Fla.; stepdaughters, Evelyn Thomas, Joanne Foland, Louise Hill, all of Asheboro; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home, 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Warren D. Smith Sr.
ASHEBORO - Warren David Smith Sr., 80, of 751 McDermott St., Asheboro, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001, at Asheboro Health & Rehabilitation, Asheboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with Dr. Buddy Smith officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

He was a native of Lee County, retired from the U.S. Postal Service, worked at Little Castle and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and Korea.

Surviving are son, Warren David Smith Jr.; brother, Odus Smith of Sanford; one grandson; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 1-2 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home of Rhonda and Michael Bloom, 4509 U.S. 220 Business South, Asheboro.

SEAGROVE - John Bradley Hunt, 34, of Little River Road, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Russell's Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tim Fonner and the Rev. Barry Wall officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Seagrove and a shipping clerk with Wal-Mart of Asheboro.

Surviving are daughters, Christy Hunt of Asheboro, Ivey Hunt of Seagrove; father, W. E. Hunt of Asheboro; mother, Louise Hunt of Ulah; brother, Tim Hunt of Asheboro; sister, Cathy Jackson of Denton.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

RAMSEUR - Cladie Moffitt Craven, 90, of 7207 N.C. 42 South, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001, at Asheboro Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Deep River Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Bob Boyd and the Rev. Tom Hill officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County and a homemaker.

Surviving are son, Jerry R. Craven of Ramseur; sister, Lina Ferree of Asheboro; one stepgrandson.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 7-9 p.m. Thursday, in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service, and other times at the home.

Carrie T. Westmoreland
THOMASVILLE - Carrie Trotter Westmoreland, 96, of Britthaven of Davidson Nursing Home, formerly of Carolina Avenue, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at the nursing home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, Thomasville, with the Rev. Jack Stratus officiating. Burial will be in Fairgrove United Methodist Church cemetery.

She was native of Randolph County, the widow of Willie Raymond Westmoreland, a former employee of Ragan Hosiery and Fran's Fabric Shop, and a member of First United Methodist Church.

Surviving are sisters, Ruth Yates of Jackson Creek, Maggie Trotter of Thomasville.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday.

MT. GILEAD - Jewel McLeod Greene, 57, of Irvington, N.J., formerly of Mt. Gilead, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Wadeville A.M.E. Zion Church, Wadeville, where she was a member. Burial will be in Bruton Cemetery.

She was a native of Montgomery County and a graduate of Peabody High School in Troy.

Surviving are husband, George Greene of the home; brother, John McLeod of Newark, N.J.; sisters, Clara Jones of Brooklyn, N.Y., Carole Thomas, Brenda Lilly, Barbara McLeod, all of Mt. Gilead, Elaine Pemberton of Jacksonville, Fla.

The family will be at the home of Carole Thomas, McLeod Road, Wadeville.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Oakhurst Baptist Church, where he was a member, with Dr. Richard Crider and the Rev. Rob Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

He was a native of Dalton, Ga., retired from General Electric and a former deacon at his church.

Surviving are wife, Zella Edwards Bartenfield of the home; mother, Kate Cargal of High Point; brother, Douglas Bartenfeld of High Point.

She was a native of Guilford County, the widow of Kenneth Davis, a homemaker and a member of the Sunshine Club.

She was a native of Swain County, the widow of Daniel W. Efird Sr., a homemaker and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

Surviving are son, Daniel Efird Jr. of Asheboro; four grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; four great-grandchildren.

He was a native of Moore County, a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of the Men's Sunday School class at his church and a retired employee of Phillips Motor Co., Carthage.

Surviving are wife, Jeanette Hussey Moore; sister, Remella M. Seawell of Robbins; brothers, Vernon Moore of Greensboro, Melvin Moore of Robbins.

She was a native of Stokes County, a homemaker and a member of Deep River Baptist Church.

Surviving are daughters, Ann Smith of Siler City, Jean Cheek of Greensboro, Denise Watkins of China Grove, Pam Kolln of Ramseur; brothers, Cleo Cain of Ramseur, Graham Cain of Asheboro, Harvey Cain of Blackstone, Va., Bobby Cain of Seagrove; sister, Hallie Johnson of Seagrove; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
