MEDINA, Ohio - John W. Campbell, 69, of Chippewa Lake, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001, at Medina General Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Waite & Son Funeral Home, Medina, Ohio, with the Rev. Tim Neptune officiating. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Yates-Thagard Baptist Church Cemetery, Whispering Pines, with the Rev. Sammy Frye officiating.

He was a native of Lochgelly, W. Va., a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of Victory Baptist Church, Lodi, Ohio, and a retired employee of Ford Motor Company in Cleveland, Ohio.

Surviving are wife, Joyce Mabe Campbell of the home; daughter, Robin Thompson of Fairview Park, Ohio; son, John D. Campbell of Monroe; sister, Esta Magnuson of Parkersburg, W. Va.; brother, Virgil Campbell of Brandon, Fla.; four grandchildren.

ASHEBORO - Everett McAllister Morris, 93, of 540 Cooper St., Asheboro, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation, Asheboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Alvin Newcomb and the Rev. Alvin Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Union UCC Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, retired from Acme-McCrary Hosiery Mill and attended Franklinville Wesleyan Church.

Surviving are wife, Reva Bunting Morris of the home; daughters, Nancy Ellison of Asheboro, Betsy Craven of Ramseur.

The family will be at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Monday, other times at the home.

ASHEBORO - Joyce Lambe Parrish, 70, of 2477 Lambe Country Road, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Marion Smith officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Randolph County, retired from John Plant Company and was a former member of Randolph Ramblers Camping Association.

Surviving are husband, Arthur Parrish of Asheboro; sons, Ott Parrish of Archdale, Roger Parrish of Asheboro; daughter, Debbie Frazier of Franklinville; sisters, Marilyn Richardson, Julia Ann Luck, both of Asheboro; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

The family will be at the funeral home 1-2 p.m. Monday, other times at the home.

RAMSEUR - James "J.P." Percy Setliff, 68, of 620 Oliver St., died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Harmony Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Tom Hill, the Rev. Harold Baker, and the Rev. Jimmy Hill officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Baptist Church Cemetery.

He was a native of Henry County Va. and a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Surviving are wife, Marie Staley Setliff of the home; sons, Jim Setliff Jr. of Virginia Beach, Va., Tony Setliff of Hampton, Ga.; stepsons, Howard Hussey, Tony Hussey, Bobby Hussey, Russell Hussey, all of Seagrove; daughter, Pat McDorman of Ohio; stepdaughters, Bertha Hussey, Patsy Spivey, Barbara Chriscoe, all of Seagrove, Nancy Shaw of Ramseur; brother, Bill Setliff of Martinsville, Va.; sister, Loraine Young of Roanoke, Va.; five grandchildren; 21 stepgrandchildren; 14 stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was a native of Guilford County and a homemaker.

ASHEBORO - Mildred Ann Rogers Halligan, 85, of 1778 Zoo Parkway, Asheboro, (formerly of Loudonville, N.Y.), died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at Asheboro Health & Rehabilitation, Asheboro.

Memorial mass will be 12:15 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

She was a native of Schenectady, N.Y., the widow of Howard F. Halligan Sr., a graduate of the College of St. Rose, earned a master's degree at SUNY in Albany, N.Y., and had worked as a social worker. She was a communicant of St. Pius X Catholic Church and the Albany Curling Club.

Surviving are sons, Roger Halligan of Asheboro, Howard Halligan of Delmar, N.Y.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

ASHEBORO - Charles Franklin Highfill, 68, of 952 S. Park St., Asheboro, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at North Asheboro Church of God, with the Rev. Scotty Daniels officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, a former policeman with the Asheboro Police Department, an investigator with the Guilford County Juvenile Detention and attended North Asheboro Church of God.

Surviving are wife, Betty LaPrad Highfill; son, Clifton C. Highfill of Durham; stepsons, Ralph Lee Julian, Phillip Wayne Julian, Michael Ray Julian, Roger Dale Julian, all of Asheboro; brothers, Olan Ray Highfill of Randleman, Aubrey L. Highfill of Clemmons; 13 grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

RANDLEMAN - Charlene Hinshaw Pell, 69, of 723 New Salem Road, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001, at Cannon Memorial Hospital, Linville.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, with Malcolm Laughlin officiating. Burial will be in Holly Springs Friends Cemetery.

She was a native of Randleman, retired from Laughlin Hosiery Mill after 40 years and attended First Assembly in Asheboro.

Surviving are husband, Fred Pell of Randleman; daughter, Linda H. Trogdon of Randleman; sisters, Dot Daniels of Randleman, Ernestine Cox of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; brother, Paul Hinshaw of Asheboro; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the family home on Robert Hinshaw Drive.

Carl B. Davis
GREENSBORO - Carl Bertram Davis, 82, of 1809 Boulevard St., died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001, at Oakhurst Rest Home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur. Burial will be in Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County and had been employed at Alma Desk Industries.

Surviving are son, Bernard Carl Davis of Greensboro; sisters, Phyllis D. Tuttle of Jamestown, Kathleen Lemon, Geneva Davis, both of Asheboro; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

SILER CITY - Paul McNoe Bare, 81, of 5250 Siler City-Snow Camp Road, died Sunday, Oct. 28,20O1, at his home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rocky River Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Greg W. Burriss and the Rev. Gene Booker officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Chatham County, the widower of Lizzie Mae Bare, served as a deacon, choir member and a care taker at his church, retired from N.C. State Bridge Maintenance Department, worked part-time with New Hope Auto Parts and was owner/operator of Paul's Grocery Store.

Surviving are wife, Martha Chamberlin Bare of Siler City; son, Jimmy Bare of Siler City; daughters, Faye Moses of Pittsboro, Betty Reid, Paulette Lazar, both of Siler City; step-daughter, Carol Mcleod Hearl of Abingdon, Va.; brother, Marion Bare of Burlington; sisters, Hilda B. DeBruler, Phoebe B. Moon, Sarah B. Robinson, all of Burlington, Barbara B. Roasch of Warsaw, Mo.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren

She was a native of Chatham County, the widow of Wrenn C. Brewer and a member of the Loyalty/Lightbearers Sunday School Class and Pearl Johnson Missionary Group at her church.

Surviving are daughters, Maxine Nunn of Snow Camp, Sylvia Moore of Bear Creek, Faye Brooks of Siler City; son, Claude Brewer of Allen, Texas; sister, Ellen Wells of Forest City; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.

She was a native of McDowell County, W.Va., and a machine operator with Ultra-Mek Inc.

She was a native of Montgomery County and retired from Gilead Manufacturing Corp.

Survivors are daughters, Sylvia Jarrell of Winston-Salem, Shirley Bartlett of Birmingham, Ala.; brother, George Robinson of Mt. Gilead; sisters, Mary Luther of China Grove, Frances Floyd of Wadesboro, Alice Smith of Mt. Gilead; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

The family will be at McKeithan Funeral Home, Mt. Gilead, from 11 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

He was a native of Rutherford County, a member of First Baptist Church, Asheboro, a Past Master of Cliffside Masonic Lodge, Past Patron of Cliffside Chapter 100, the Order of the Eastern Star; 32nd degree mason of the Scottish Rite Bodies, past member of Oasis Shriners and a former NASCAR Bush Series driver.

Surviving are sons, David F. Weese of Dahlgren, Va., Michael A. Weese of the home; daughter, Danielle M. Weese of Asheboro; stepdaughter, Cynthia L. Stoute of Louisiana; stepson, Terry G. Lebermann II in the U.S. Navy; sister, Janice W. Cole of Forest City.

The family will be at First Baptist Church in Henrietta, from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.

She was a native of Randolph County, a graduate of Randleman High School and was employed by Knorr Best Foods.
