ASHEBORO - Carl H. Davis, 77, of 1633 Foxfire Road, Asheboro, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, at his home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Thurman Williams and the Rev. Jim Honeycutt officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park with Masonic rites.

He was a native of Star, a member of Mountain of Faith Baptist Church, a Mason with Franklinville Lodge #128 and retired from Rockwell International.

Surviving are wife, Ruby Beal Davis; stepdaughters, Paula Stevens and Susan Usher, both of Asheboro, Vicky Brown of Ramseur; sister, Mary F. Chandler of Asheboro; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

Franklin C. Flanagan
ASHEBORO - Franklin C. "Frank" Flanagan, 67, of Sophia, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001, at his home.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home, Sedgefield Chapel, Greensboro.

He was a native of McDowell County, W.Va., and co-owner with his wife of Long View Service for 24 years.

Surviving are wife, Fannie Flanagan; son, Steven Flanagan of Sophia; daughter, Shelby Brewer of Level Cross; brothers, Donald Flanagan of Cour d'alene, Idaho, Larry Flanagan of Rathdrum, Idaho; sisters, Edith Phillips of Pineville, W. Va., lrene AIsobrook of Oklahoma City, Okla., Betty Spaulding and Eunice Coldiron of Celina, Ohio, Patricia York of Franklinville, Carol Vogel of Rathdrum, Idaho, Teresa Klosterman of Mendon, Ohio, Linda Lane of Athens, W. Va.; five grandchildren.

The family will be at the home of the son in Sophia.

CANDOR - Nettie Jean Shepard Simmons, 70, of 2528 Candor/Troy Road, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2001, at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital, Troy.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Faith Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Martin E. Davis, the Rev. Dennis Sheppard and the Rev. Fredrick Mitschke officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Union County, the widow of R.G. Simmons and a homemaker.

Surviving are daughters, Ginger Morgan, Mary Haywood, Julie Shepherd, all of Candor, Karen Sibbett of Randleman; sons, Jeff Simmons of Randleman, Mike Simmons of Biscoe; brother, David Sheppard of Aberdeen; sisters, Betty Hall of Candor, Myrtle Morgan of Biscoe, Nell Sanders of Eagle Springs, Mildred Wright of Fayetteville, Ruth Hargett of Hamlet; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, 6:30-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Flossie C. Morgan
CARTHAGE - Flossie Cheek Morgan, 83, of 12379 N.C. 24/27, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Ray Brooks and the Rev. Mike Holyfield officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Moore County, the widow of Norman C. Morgan and a homemaker.

Surviving are foster daughter, Genevieve C. Jackson of Eagle Springs; sister, Dora C. Riddle of Carthage; two grandchildren.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

Heath R. Clinard Jr.
RANDLEMAN - Heath Ray Clinard Jr., infant son of Heath R. and Annette Clinard of 3077 Forest Park Drive, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Joseph Wren officiating.

Surviving in addition to the parents are sister, Amanda Shay Clinard; grandparents, Barbara Lamb of South Carolina, Verlin Arthur Clower Sr. of West Virginia, Timmy Ray Clinard of High Point, Robin Reeder of Franklinville; great-grandparents, Treva Johnson of Pigeon Forge, Tenn., Patricia Clinard, and Jacob and Dottie Clinard, all of High Point; great-great-grandmothers, Rosie Clower of West Virginia, Hilda Clinard of High Point.

Sechrest Funeral Service, Archdale, is in charge of arrangements.

GREENSBORO - Paeton Charles Hollar, infant son of Jessica Lee and Christopher Charles Hollar, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2001, at Women's Hospital in Greensboro.

Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Friday in Gilmore Memorial Park, Julian.

Surviving in addition to the parents are grandparents, Shelia and Lester Henderson of Greensboro; great-grandparents, Jeanette and Willie Howle of Greensboro, Tressa Cecil of High Point.

The family will be at Forbis and Dick Funeral Home, North Elm Street, Greensboro, 1-2 p.m. Friday, other times at the home of the grandparents, 2218 Meloine Lane, Greensboro.

Thurman W. Britt
BISCOE - Thurman Willis Britt, 70, of 473 Brewer Road, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Flint Hill Christian Church, with the Rev. Hayes Ritter and the Rev. Neal Parsons officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Moore County and employed as a supervisor at Russell Hosiery Mill.

Surviving are wife, Judy Garner Britt of the home; daughters, Crystal Sheffield of Star, Angela Beth Britt of Biscoe; sons, Jeff Britt and Andy Britt, both of Biscoe; brother, Harold Britt of Fayetteville; sister, Zella Williams of Biscoe; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

The family will be at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Joseph M. Holt
WAGRAM - Joseph McNally Holt, 82, of 25521 Hill Creek Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, at Century Care in Laurinburg.

Funeral service will be 11 am. Friday at Spring Hill Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Van Ingram, the Rev. Larry Wilson and the Rev. Don McCaskill officiating. Graveside service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Biscoe Cemetery.

He was a native of Guilford County, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, retired from J.P. Stevens Co. and had worked with Springs Mills in Biscoe. He was a deacon at his church, and a former member of First Baptist Church in Biscoe where he served as deacon and Sunday school teacher.

Surviving are wife, Frances Holt of Wagram; son, Larry Joseph Holt of Hamlet; daughters, Barbara H. Bruton of Troy, Janie H. McCaskill of Laurinburg; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

The family will be at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium, Laurinburg, 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Scotland County, P.O. Box 1033, Laurinburg, N.C. 28353.

Hazel W. Tucker
RANDLEMAN - Hazel Webster Tucker, 70, of 5962 Gilbert Davis Drive, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, at her home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Sechrest Funeral Home, Archdale, with the Rev. Ben Hurley officiating. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery.

She was a native of Guilford County, the widow of Earlie Hiatt Tucker, a retired employee of Brayton International and she attended Cedar Square Friends Meeting.

Surviving are daughter, Donise T. Sentelik of Jupiter, Fla.; son, Timothy Lee Tucker of Randleman; three grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8:30 p.m. Friday.

Ollie M. Gunter
TROY - Ollie Mae Metcalfe Gunter, 80, of Lovejoy Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, at Autumn Care of Biscoe.

Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Troy Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. Roger Rhoads and the Rev. Alvin Newcomb officiating. Burial will be in Southside Cemetery.

She was a native of Yancey County and a retired employee of Aileen Furniture.

Surviving are sons, Mark Gunter of Troy, Gene Gunter of Englewood, Colo.; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, Troy, 7-9 p.m. Saturday, other times at 1433 Lovejoy Road, Troy.

Jane W. Burkhead
ASHEBORO - Jane Evelyn Ward Burkhead, 72, of 650 Reading Road, Asheboro, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, at her home.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with Rev. William Christopher Thore officiating.

She was a native of Worthville, a homemaker, worked with her husband at The Record Shop and was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving are husband, Arthur F. "Archie" Burkhead; daughters, Pamela B. Pounds of St. Augustine, Fla., Lyn B. Rufty of Asheboro; sister, Betty Edwards of Greenville; brother, Coleman Ward of Lexington; one granddaughter.

The family will be at the funeral home following the memorial service, other times at the home.

Randey L. Parsons
ASHEBORO - Randey Lee Parsons, 22, of 6358 U.S. 220 South, Asheboro, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at his home.

Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at New Hope Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Jonathan Shook officiating.

He was formerly employed with Builders First Source, was a 1997 graduate of Southwestern Randolph High School, where he had been in the honors choral program and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are fiancé, Dawn Chaney of the home; sons, Kaleb Lamar Parsons of Asheboro, Anthony Shoff of the home; daughter, Ashton McKenzie Parsons of the home; parents, Jay and Sheila Greene of Asheboro; sister, Katherine Tenneil Greene of Asheboro; grandparents, Irene Davis of Troy, C.W. "Bucky" Davis of Mooresville, Vickey Parsons Johnson of Candor.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Ruth M. Pugh
ASHEBORO - Ruth Moffitt Pugh, 79, of Lutheran Home of Albemarle, formerly of Ansonville, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, at Stanly Memorial Hospital, Albemarle.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Ansonville United Methodist Church, Ansonville, where she was a member, with the Rev. Ron Lytle and the Rev. David Lowe officiating.

She was a native of Randolph County and the widow of Fred T. Pugh.

Surviving are sons, Fred T. Pugh Jr. of Pittsboro, David Pugh of High Point; brother, Lloyd Moffitt of Asheboro; sisters, Judy Chisholm of Charleston, S.C., Jerry Morton of Rome, Ga., Ester Moffitt of Washington, D.C.; four grandchildren.

The family will be at the church following the memorial service.

FRANKLINVILLE - Ned Franklin Caudle, 64, of 3555 Bethany Church Road, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Bethany United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. R. Curran Welch officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, a farmer, a member of the Livestock and Poultry Association, and a former member of the National Guard.

Surviving are wife, Rachel Hanes Caudle; daughter, Melissa Rachelle Caudle of Greensboro; son, David Paul Caudle of Franklinville; sisters, Lois C. Aldridge of Franklinville, Evon C. Allred of Randleman; brothers, Clarence Caudle, Glyn Caudle, both of Franklinville; two grandsons.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, from 6-8 p.m. Saturday.

SILER CITY - Danny "Moochie" Sherwin Brooks, 47, of 690 Gees Grove Road, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Jordan Grove A.M.E. Zion Church with the Rev. Gene Horton officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Chatham County and a U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are wife, Norma Brooks; son, Antoine Brooks of Charlotte; daughter, Latanya Brooks of Siler City; mother, Christine Brooks of Siler City; brother, Belton Brooks of Siler City; sisters, Linda Paige, Marylyn Foushee, both of Siler City, Kathleen Robinson of Forestville, Md., Debra Sullivan of Greensboro, Dorthy Ledwell of Asheboro.

The family will be at Farrar Funeral Home, Siler City, from 7-8 p.m. Saturday.

Willburn H. Scott
GARLAND - Willburn Harrison Scott, 78, of 129 Smith Mill Pond Road, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at SunBridge Care Facilities, Elizabethtown.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Fall Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Bennett, with the Rev. Ronnie Chaney officiating.

He was a native of Chatham County, of the Baptist faith and was a self-employed house painter.

Surviving are wife, Elizabeth Sloan Scott of Garland; son, Michael Scott of Siler City; sisters, Jewell Oates, Mary Katherine James, both of Greensboro; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, from 7-9 p.m. Saturday.

Mozelle R. Newman
RANDLEMAN - Mozelle Reed Newman, 68, of 843 Newman Trail, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Burnetts Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery.

She was the widow of Joseph Newman.

Surviving are daughters, Ellen Newman and Kathy Covert, both of Randleman; sisters, Sandra Grady of Sophia, Gwen Burton of Greensboro; brothers, Larry Reed of Greensboro, Carl Reed of Asheboro; two grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, noon-1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Curtis G. Smith
AIKEN, S.C. - Curtis "Curt" G. Smith, 43, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, at his home.

Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Creek Baptist Church, Aiken, S.C., with Pastor Richard Swift officiating. Burial will be private.

He was a native of Reidsville, a computer programmer/analyst with Saga Software, a graduate of Radford University in Radford, Va., and had attended Cedar Creek Church.

Surviving are mother, Shirley Brown Smith of Asheboro; brothers, Darryl Smith of Aiken, S.C., Gary Smith of Whiteville; sister, Sherrie Alcon of Asheboro.

The family will be at the church following the service.

George Funeral Homes Inc., Aiken, S.C., is in charge of the arrangements.

ASHEBORO - Louis Guido Catalani, 44, of 1519 Arrowwood Road, Asheboro, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with Father Joseph W. Mack officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

He was a native of Rockford, Ill., attended Asheboro High School, was formerly employed by Prestige Fabricators, a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and a member of the Asheboro Chapter of the Loyal Order of the Moose.

Surviving are parents, Guido and Pearl Catalani of the home; brothers, Michael J. Catalani of Halifax, Va., Bill Catalani of Asheboro; sister, Rose Hussey of Asheboro.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.
