ROBBINS - Esther Kenyon Kernodle, 83, of 233 Ashley Drive, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, in Pinelake Health & Rehabilitation Center, Carthage.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. Wilson Harris officiating. Burial will be in Pine Rest Cemetery.

She was a native of Orange County, the widow of William Paul Kernodle and a homemaker. She attended First Wesleyan Church.

Surviving are daughters, Carolyn K. Lassiter of Lillington, Glenda K. Helms of Robbins; brother, the Rev. Thomas Kenyon of Asheboro; sister, Margaret K. Antrim of Donna, Texas; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday, other times at the home of Paul Helms, 233 Ashley Drive, Robbins.

Essie K. Denny
CAMERON - Essie Key Denny, 96, of 229 Byrd Road, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, at her home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Lamm's Grove Primitive Baptist Church, with Elder Calvin Harward officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Surry County and the widow of Hilton Denny.

Surviving are daughters, Leola Ann King of Mechanicsville, Va., Rena Overby of Carthage, Polly Holder of Cameron, Sylvia Gaines of Robbins, Jackie Lankford of Southern Pines; son, David Denny of Cameron; sister, Clara Belle Brown of Westminster, Md.; brother, Irvin Key of Ararat; 22 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; three stepgreat-grandchildren.

The family will be at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home, Carthage, 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday, other times at 229 Byrd Road, Cameron.

Memorials may be made to a charity of donor's choice.

George H. Cox
CAMDEN, S.C. - George Howard Cox, 83, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Bruce Hancock and the Rev. Everett Reconnu officiating. Burial will be 4 p.m. at Parks Crossroad Christian Church Cemetery, Ramseur, with the Rev. James Turner and the Rev. Everett Reconnu officiating.

He was a native of Asheboro, retired after 38 years with Jaclyn Hosiery as plant superintendent, a past president of the Camden Kiwanis Club, a member of the Optimist Club, a member of the Kershaw County Library Board and a Sunday School teacher and former deacon at his church.

Surviving are wife, Blanche Coward Cox; daughters, Nancy C. Hopkins of Southern Pines, Galetta C. Eddings and Janet C. Sheheen, both of Camden, S.C.; son, George Ronald "Ronnie" Cox of Asheboro; brother, Elvin Cox of Ramseur; six grandsons.

The family will be at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden, S.C., 7-8 p.m. Sunday.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 1201 Broad St., Camden, S.C. 29020.

Francis A. Heckman, Jr.
FREMONT, Ohio - Francis Albert Heckman Jr., 75, of 700 Sr. 19 South, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery, Ramseur, with the Rev. Bruce McLanahan officiating.

He was a native of Green Springs, Ohio, a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran and a retiree from Arm & Hammer Baking Soda.

Surviving are wife, Joan Berger Heckman of Sterling, Va.; son, William Earl Heckman of Agawam, Mass.; daughters, Sandi Fries of Ramseur, Susan Frances Fawley of Fremont, Ohio; four granddaughters; five great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the home of Sandi Fries, 5216 Erect Road, Ramseur.

ASHEBORO - Hattie Crisco Blanton, 85, of 904 S. Park St., Asheboro, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at 301 S. High St., Asheboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fayetteville Street Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Adrian Pugh officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

She was a native of Cabarrus County and a homemaker.

Surviving are daughters, Dianna Raye Wigington of Randleman, Barbara Ann Cribb of Tampa, Fla., Wanda Green Mauldin of Asheboro, Beverly Kaye Blanton of Wrightsville Beach; sons, Jackie Lance Blanton of Randleman, Steven Lee Blanton of Asheboro; sister, Sallie C. Tindall of Wilmington; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday, other times at the home of daughter, Wanda Mauldin, 301 S. High St., Asheboro.

He was a native of Randolph County and retired from Pinewood Country Club.

Surviving are wife, Carolyn M. Brower of Asheboro; sons, Curvey Brower of Greensboro, Steve Brower of Asheboro; daughter, Dannie B. Perry of Asheboro; sisters, Ola Mae Snow and Ruth Cothran, both of Asheboro; brother, James C. Brower of Asheboro; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

ASHEBORO - Ronald Leon Trotter, 56, of 470 Spencer Meadow Road, Asheboro, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. View Independent Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Claudie Harrison and the Rev. David Hunt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, an auto mechanic and a former employee of Klaussner Furniture Industries.

Surviving are wife, Judy Ball Trotter of the home; sons, Brent Trotter of Denton, Rickey Trotter of Richfield; mother, Mary Etta Trotter of Asheboro; sisters, Bonnie Davis of High Point, Pat McDowell of Asheboro, Mary Lou Barringer of Denton, Martha Gordon of Thomasville; brother, William Trotter of Asheboro; four grandchildren.

The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Monday, other times at the home.

Carl H. Reeder
RANDLEMAN - Carl Hampton Reeder, 82, of 1183 Barkwood Road, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation, Asheboro.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Randleman Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, where he was a member, with Tim Mroczkowski officiating.

He was a native of Moore County.

Surviving are son, Phillip Reeder of Greensboro; sister, Norma Wazenegger of Pittsburgh, Pa.; brothers, Clifford Reeder of Fort Pierce, Fla., Ed Reeder of Randleman; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, is in charge of arrangements.

Murphy Brown
JULIAN - Murphy "Doot" Brown, 91, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Shiloh United Methodist Church, where he was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Julian, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a charter member of the Julian Lions Club and retired from Dillard Paper Co.

Surviving are wife, Mabel Fields Brown; brothers, Frank Brown and Mack "Cut" Brown, both of Julian.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty, 6-8 p.m. Monday, other times at the home.

Elizabeth T. Caddell
STAR - Elizabeth Ann Thomas Caddell, 43, of 143 Harper St., died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at her home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at New Hope Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gene Davis, the Rev. Clyde Allen and the Rev. Bruce Dickerson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Montgomery County and a paramedic and a nurse in Montgomery County.

Surviving are husband, Jerrill Caddell of the home; mother, Virginia B. Thomas of Star; sisters, Sandra T. Newell of Pekin, Karen T. King of Biscoe.

The family will be at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, 7-9 p.m. Monday.

James R. Britt
BISCOE - James Robert Britt, 70, of 2943 Tarry Church Road, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Flint Hill Christian Church, with the Rev. Hayes Ritter and the Rev. Carl Zeigler officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.

He was a native of Moore County and a U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are wife, Eunice Britt of the home; daughters, Brenda B. Dunn of Asheboro, Judy B. Vernon of Candor; sisters, Frances B. Stewart and Etta Rea B. Bailey, both of Biscoe; four grandchildren.

The family will be at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, 7-9 p.m. Monday.

Pauline D. Shaw
RAMSEUR - Pauline Elizabeth Davis Shaw, 76, of Randolph Hills, Apt. 1-D, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pentecostal Victory Temple, Siler City, where she was a member, with the Rev. Reggie Rakes officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Asheboro.

She was a native of Forsyth County and a homemaker.

Surviving are daughter, Suzanne N. Perkins of Cedar Falls; sons, Donald R. Nelson of Wilmington, Eddie C. Davis and Jimmy R. Davis, both of Asheboro, Tony Davis and Darrell W. Davis, both of Ramseur, Ronald M. Davis of Sophia; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Richard H. Henson
GREENSBORO - Richard Hall Henson, 50, of 305 Melbourne Road, and formerly of Asheboro, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Forest Lawn Cemetery, with the Rev. Mike Aiken officiating.

He was a native of Greensboro.

Surviving is brother, Frank Lentz Henson of Greensboro.

CANDOR - Duncan Lee Parsons, 84, of 3455 Pekin Road, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Parsons Grove United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Peggy Duncan-Wood and the Rev. Fred Richardson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Montgomery County, a farmer and sawmill operator.

Surviving are wife, Gladys Campbell Parsons of the home; daughters, Evelyn P. Britt of Biscoe, Barbara P. Lee of Candor; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, Troy, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home.

Geneva H. Spivey
CANDOR - Geneva Hussey Spivey, 73, of 2590 Candor-Troy Road, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home, Candor, with the Rev. Fred Richardson officiating. Burial will be in Macedonia Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Moore County, of the Baptist faith and retired from Lynn Dean Manufacturing Co.

Surviving are husband, William Louis Spivey of the home; daughters, Carol Williams of Lakeview, Judy Saunders of Biscoe; sisters, Jean Rush of New Hill, Shirley Hammonds of Biscoe; brother, Raymond Hussey of Randleman; two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home.

Brandon Vaughan
CHINA GROVE - Brandon Lee-Craig Vaughan, 12, of 76 Central Ave., died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at Duke Medical Center, Durham.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove, with the Rev. William S. Ketchie officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Park.

He was a native of Richmond, Va., and attended China Grove Middle School.

Surviving are parents, Len and Becky Vaughan of the home; sister, Heather Vaughan of the home; brother, Gregg Vaughan of the home; grandparents, Alton and Sandra Vaughan of Petersburg, Va., James and Lorrie Karnes of Orangeville, Pa.

The family will be at the funeral home in China Grove 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

ASHEBORO - Thomas "Tommy" Wade Jarrell, 47, of 2163 Henley Country Road, Asheboro, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. James Robbins officiating. Burial will be in West Bend UMC Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, a 1973 graduate of Eastern Randolph High School and worked in the textile industry.

Surviving are mother, Helen Hill Jarrell of the home; sisters, Patricia J. Poole of Randleman, Marie Langley of Asheboro; brothers, Larry Jarrell of Fullerton, Calif., Gilbert Jarrell, of Niece, Calif., Phillip Jarrell and Vance Jarrell, both of Asheboro.

The family will be at the funeral home noon until the service time on Saturday.

Toby R. Kivett
RANDLEMAN - Toby Reid Kivett, 59, of 204 Village Ave., died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Caraway Baptist Church, where he was a member, with Pastor Jim Honeycutt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors.

He was a native of Randolph County and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was employed with Energizer in Asheboro.

Surviving are wife, Becky Reynolds Kivett of Randleman; daughter, Cynthia K. Garner of Smithfield; sons, Tony R. Kivett of Asheboro and Randy D. Kivett of Randleman; sister, Billie Williams of Ramseur; seven grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.
