RANDLEMAN - Blanche Lucille Wright Cook, 93, of 756 Worthville St., formerly of Hoover Street, died Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Charles Stout and the Rev. Alvin Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Asheboro.

She was a native of Davidson County and the widow of Marvin Webb Cook. She retired from Tip Top Hosiery and was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving are daughter, Barbara Manning of the home; sister, Margie Wright of Cid; brother, Bruce Wright of Cid; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Friday, other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Manning, 756 Worthville St., Randleman.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3800 Shamrock Drive, #999, Charlotte, N.C. 28215.

Teddy R. Jarrett
FRANKLINVILLE - Teddy Ray Jarrett, 51, of 1066 Butlers Chapel Road, died Wednesday, July 3, 2002, at Wesley Long Community Hospital, Greensboro.

Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Friday at Pleasant Grove Christian Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Larry Stines officiating.

He was a native of Randolph County.

Surviving are sister, Audrey Trogdon of Ramseur; brother, Billy Jarrett of Franklinville.

The family will be at the church 2-3 p.m. Friday.

Smith Funeral Home, Broadway, is in charge of arrangements.

Jacquelyn B. Davis
BISCOE - Jacquelyn "Jackie" Brown Davis, 69, formerly of Lassiter Loop Road, Troy, died Wednesday, July 3, 2002, at Autumn Care of Biscoe.

There will be no funeral services.

She was a native of Montgomery County and a former employee of Carolina Fried Chicken.

Surviving are sons, John Lucas of Norwood, Larry Flynt of Troy, Lonnie Flynt of Asheboro; brother, David Brown of Troy; sister, Joyce Cagle of Troy; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the home of Bill and Joyce Cagle, 101 Burrow St., Troy, 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

Pugh Funeral Home, Troy, is in charge of arrangements.

Fred N. Newby
SILER CITY - Fred N. Newby, 60, of Cateland Place Apartments, 6-A, died Tuesday, June 25, 2002, at his home.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity United Holy Church, with the Rev. Samuel B. Obie officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Chatham County

Surviving are sisters, Beulah Brewer, Maggie Baines, both of Siler City.

Farrar Funeral Service, Siler City, is in charge of arrangements.

Hilda M. Johnson
TRENTON - Hilda Mae Johnson, 91, of St. Joseph of the Pines Health Care Center in Southern Pines, formerly of Trenton, died Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at St. Joseph Health Care.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Grace Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Robert MacSwain officiating. Burial will be in Trenton Cemetery.

She was a native of Lenior County and director of admissions at Parrott Memorial Hospital in Kinston.

The family will be at the church following the funeral service.

Fry & Prickett Funeral Home, Carthage, is in charge of arrangements.

Timothy W. Sierra
CARY - Timothy Wayne Sierra, 37, of 114 Northington Place, died Sunday, June 30, 2002, in Cary.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Alvin Powell officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County.

Surviving are son, Joshua Sierra Thompson of Asheboro; sisters, Vickie Sierra, Gloria Sierra, both of Cary; brothers, Michael Sierra of Cary, Mark Sierra, Tony Sierra, both of Jesup, Ga., Frankie Sierra of Lexington.

The family will be at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Thursday.

William F. Craven
ROCKINGHAM - William F. Craven, 82, of Hermitage Retirement Center, formerly of 150 Mopar Lane, West End, died Wednesday, July 3, 2002, at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital, Rockingham.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Friday at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home, Carthage. Burial will be in Culdee Presbyterian Church Cemetery, West End.

A native of Marlboro County, S.C., he retired from Proctor Silex in Southern Pines.

Surviving are daughters, Billie Ruth Taylor of Hamlet, Catherine Rocker of Rockingham, Marjorie Craven of Spindell; stepdaughters, Dianne Frye of West End, Kay McDonald of Panama Beach, Fla.; stepson, Samuel Gathings of Rockingham; sisters, Myrtle Meacham of Monroe, Jewell Johnson, Louise Murphy, both of Smithfield; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.

ASHEBORO - Mary Alice Henson Davis, 69, of 400 Vision Drive, Asheboro, died Wednesday, July 3, 2002, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation, Asheboro.

Funeral service will be 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Terry Beaver and the Rev. Arnold Comer officiating. Burial will be in Dover Baptist Church Cemetery, Seagrove.

She was a native of Moore County, the widow of Grady Davis, a homemaker and a member of Bethel Church of God.

Surviving are daughters, Lovella Maness, Martha Davis, both of Asheboro, Eva Staley of Seagrove; sons, Wayne Davis, James "Pete" Davis, both of Asheboro, Jackie Davis; sister, Alene Reeder of Seagrove; brothers, Charles Henson of West End, Harold Henson of Asheboro, Hubert Henson of Eagle Springs, Darrell Henson of Rockingham; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Friday, other times at the home of Lovella Maness, 1752 Cleon St., Asheboro.

Mildred R. Millikan
SOPHIA - Mildred Rich Millikan, 88, of 5731 U.S. 311, died Thursday, July 4, 2002, at Randolph Hospital.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Randolph Memorial Park, with the Rev. J. Arnold Luther officiating.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Roy Lee Millikan and attended Midway Wesleyan Church, Randleman.

Surviving are daughter, Roylene M. Parks of Asheboro; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday.

Memorials may be made to Midway Wesleyan Church Building Fund, 331 Worthville Road, Randleman, N.C. 27317.

Steve D. Brewer
STALEY - Steve D. Brewer of 3988 Curtis Lane, died Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at his home.

There will be no funeral service.

He was a native of Guilford County.

Surviving are wife, Gloria Biller Brewer; children, Jerald Brewer, Melony Gardner, David Elkins and Timmy Elkins; mother, Ollie Moore of Greensboro; brothers, Rufus Brewer of Alabama, Thomas Brewer of Florida; five grandchildren.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty, 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Memorials may be made to the cancer and diabetes foundations.

Franie M. Moore
ROBBINS - Franie Margaret Moore, 91, of 271 Franie Road, died Thursday, July 4, 2002, at Autumn Care of Biscoe.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Browns Chapel Christian Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Fred Richardson and the Rev. Tom Horner officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Moore County and a retired worker from Stanly Furniture Co.

Surviving are daughters, Wanda Greene of Star, Lois Coble of Candor; sons, Benford Moore, Eugene Morgan, both of Robbins, Tracy Moore of Ellerbe; 20 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 7-9 p.m. Saturday, other times at the home of Benford Moore, 228 Hall Road, Robbins.

Ettie T. Newman
TROY - Ettie Thompson Newman, 77, formerly of 516 Wallace Ave., Apt. 12A, died Thursday, July 4, 2002, at Britthaven of Madison.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Pugh-Troy Funeral, Troy. Burial will be in Lovejoy United Methodist Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Montgomery County, attended Lovejoy United Methodist Church and was a retired waitress.

Surviving are sons, Donald Hoffpauir of Oak Ridge, Steve Newman of Stokesdale; half sister, Zettie Hoffpauir of Fayetteville; half brother, Zell Thompson of Troy.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Frank D. Holt
LIBERTY - Frank Delano Holt, 67, of Apopka, Fla., formerly of Liberty, died Wednesday, July 3, 2002, at his home.

A memorial service was held in Florida.

He was a native of Guilford County.

Surviving are wife, Janice Holt of the home; daughters, Simone Lamb of the home, Wanda Holt of Liberty; stepdaughter, Kim King of Apopka, Fla.; sons, Frank Holt Jr. of Liberty, Randy Holt of Greensboro; brother, Homer Holt of Liberty; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty, is in charge of arrangements.

Bertha M. Vuncannon
SEAGROVE - Bertha Morris Vuncannon, 90, of 6531 Osborne Mill Road, died Thursday, July 4, 2002, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, with the Rev. Adrian Pugh officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Knoll Cemetery.

She was a native of Stanly County, a retired worker at Sew Special, Inc. and a member of Fayetteville Street Baptist Church.

Surviving are daughters, Nancy Cagle of Seagrove, Barbara Glasgow of Ramseur; brother, Lewis Morris of Albemarle; sisters, Paulene Thompson of Ellerbe, Elizabeth Talbert of Albemarle; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Friday, other times at the home.

Lillie T. Wilson
INMAN, S.C. - Lillie Taylor Wilson, 85, of 3 W. Miller St., died Thursday, July 4, 2002, at Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care.

Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Floyd's Mortuary, Spartanburg, S.C., with the Rev. Glenn Rusher officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

She was a native of Spartanburg County, the widow of James L. Wilson Sr. and a member of Magnolia Baptist Church, Greensboro. She retired after 30 years from the Belk Department Store in Greensboro.

Surviving are son, James L. Wilson Jr. of Asheboro; sister, Ocenia Evans of Spartanburg, S.C.; brothers, Clayton Taylor of Inman, S.C., Roy Taylor of Columbus, Stewart Taylor of Boiling Springs.

The family will be at the funeral home 6:30-8 p.m. Friday, other times at the home of Casey and Ocenia Evans, 502 Windrow Terrace, Spartanburg, S.C.

Clifford Morgan
SEAGROVE - Clifford Lee Morgan, 55, of N.C. 705, died Thursday, July 4, 2002, at his home.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Big Oak Christian Church Cemetery with military rites by the Randolph County Veterans Council and with the Rev. Robert Dennis officiating.

He was a native of Montgomery County, a graduate of West End High School, a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and employed with Commercial Carving Co. in Thomasville as a model carver.

Surviving are former wife, Anita Morgan of the home; daughters, Laura Morgan of Scottsville, Va.; son, Chris Morgan of Asheboro; sister, Faye Reeves of Pittsboro; brother, Larry Morgan of Eagle Springs; mother, Janie Morgan of Eagle Springs; two grandchildren.

The family will be at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home 6-8 p.m. Saturday, other times at the home of his mother, 3595 Bensalem Church Road, Eagle Springs.

RAMSEUR - Vance Clarkston "V.C." Cox, 82, of 2584 Mill Creek Road, died Thursday, July 4, 2002, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Pleasant Ridge Christian Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Adrian Pugh and the Rev. Bob Freeman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County and a retired farmer.

Surviving are wife, Anita Y. Cox; sons, Willie D. Cox, Tim Cox, both of Ramseur; daughters, Melinda Luten of Charleston, S.C., Beverly Leonard, Rose Cox, both of Salisbury; brother, Clayton Cox of Ramseur; sister, Juanita Joyce of Aiken, S.C.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 7-9 p.m. Saturday, other times at the home.
