BONLEE - Josephine "Josie" Kiser Moody, 89, of 1100-B Bonlee-Bennett Road, Siler City, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2002, at SunBridge Care Facilities, Siler City.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Providence United Methodist Church, Siler City, where she was a member, with the Rev. Warren Owens and the Rev. David Wade officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Moore County, the widow of J. Lewis Moody and a homemaker. She was the historian and a member of the choir and adult Sunday School Class at her church.

Surviving are daughters, Barbara M. Dowd of Bonlee, Betty M. Caudle of Goldston; sons, Harry L. Moody of Forest Parks, Ga., David F. Moody of Bonlee, Danny C. Moody of Pittsboro; brother, Eulon Kiser of Bear Creek; sisters, Emma K. Clark of Siler City, Vera K. Gaines of Bonlee, Ruby K. Edwards of Bear Creek; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home of Barbara Dowd, 1170 Bonlee-Bennett Road, Siler City.

Thelma Daniel
DENTON - Thelma Owen Daniel, 80, of Flat Swamp Road, died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, at Lexington Memorial Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Summerville Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Flynn Richardson and the Rev. Mike Motley officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Davidson County, retired from Burlington Industries, the children's Sunday School class teacher and a member of the Golden Youth Group at her church. She was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels, a member of the Stitchery Group, a member of a quilting group at Floyd Baptist Church and a graduate of Southmont High School.

Surviving are daughter, Marcia Allen Daniel of Asheboro; brothers, Burnice Owen of Denton, L.D. Owen of Blacksburg, S.C.

The family will be at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home.

John L. Moore
ELLERBE - John Lynn Moore, 42, of 2772 N. U.S. 220, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2002, at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital, Rockingham.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Exway Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. David Peitz and the Rev. Edwin Moore officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Mildenhall, England, a trustee at his church, a poultry manager with Stewart Farms of Ellerbe, instructor with Richmond County Medical Services and was chief of the Ellerbe Rescue Squad.

Surviving are wife, Carolyn Smith Moore of the home; son, John Eric Moore of the home; stepson, William C. Chriscoe of Raleigh; parents, James L. "Wimp" and Pauline Ellis Moore of Robbins; grandmother, Blanche Moore of Robbins; brother, Ray Moore of Robbins; sister, Peggy Williams of Robbins.

The family will be at Carter Funeral Home, Ellerbe, 6-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home.

ASHEBORO - Virginia Mae Craven, 70, of 612 Sunset Ave., Apt. 10, Asheboro, died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. W. Russell Ward Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Grays Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, a graduate of Pfeiffer College, High Point College and East Carolina University, and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority. She was a retired teacher with Randolph County Schools and a member of First Presbyterian Church, Asheboro.

Surviving are sister, Rebecca Ann Craven of Franklinville; mother and stepfather, Ethel and L.T. Cox of Franklinville.

The family will be at the funeral home immediately following the service.

Lloyd Hunter
ASHEBORO - Rufus Lloyd Hunter, 80, of Hall Drive, Asheboro, died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, at Asheboro Health & Rehabilitation.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Randolph Memorial Park, with the Rev. Thomas H. Smith officiating.

He was a native of Randolph County and a retired worker from B.B. Walker Co. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a member of Richland Baptist Church and a member of the Old Fogies Blue Grass Band.

Surviving are sons, Larry Hunter and Darrell Hunter, both of Asheboro; brothers, Archie Hunter and Wayne Hunter, both of Dallas, Texas; sisters, Frances York and Avon Trogdon, both of Asheboro, Annie Lou Smith of Anchorage, Alaska; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

He was a native of Randolph County, a member of Charlotte United Methodist Church and a retired worker from Arch Knitting.

Surviving are wife, Marie Rook Richardson of the home; daughter, Toni Kay Routh of Asheboro; sisters, Annie Lee Staley and Maxine White, both of Sophia, Doris Hill of Asheboro; brothers, John Thomas "Tommy" Richardson of Sophia, Ernest "Bud" Richardson of Denton; granddaughter, Misty B. McLain of the home.

The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home.

ROBBINS - Violet Boyte Landreth, 85, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002, at Pinelake Health & Rehabilitation Center, Carthage.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, with the Rev. Terry Burris officiating. Burial will be in Carbonton United Methodist Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Patrick County, Va., the widow of Lester R. Landreth and a homemaker.

Surviving are three grandsons; six great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

Thelma W. Blue
FAYETTEVILLE - Thelma Walker Blue, formerly of Asheboro, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2002, in Lynchburg, Va.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Hay Street United Methodist Church, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Carl Frazier officiating. Burial will be in LaFayette Memorial Park.

She was the widow of Rev. David F. Blue Jr. and a member of the Presbyterian Women, Presbyterian Church USA.

Surviving are sons, Paul Blue of Durham, David Blue of Lynchburg, Va.; two grandchildren.

The family will be at the church 10-11 a.m. Friday.

Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Oakhurst Baptist Church, where she was a member, with Dr. Richard Crider officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

She was a native of Davidson County and a former employee with Acme-McCrary Corp.

Surviving are daughters, Joan R. Hurley, Wanda R. Lindsay, both of Asheboro; three grandchildren.

TROY - William A. "Bill" Adams Sr., 72, of 885 Shiloh Church Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

He was a native of Centerville, Tenn., and a former public administrator with the Pee Dee Council of Government.

Surviving are wife, Dr. Georgia Bonus Adams of the home; son, Billy Adams of Troy; daughters, Julia A. Lynthacum of Troy, Lynn Adams of Draper, Va.; brothers, John Adams of Eldorado, Leo Adams of Texas; sister, Lenna Mellius of Pennsylvania; four grandchildren.

He was a native of Moore County and a retired worker from J.P. Stevens, where he was a forklift operator.

She was a native of Carthage, the widow of Allen Kale and a member of First Baptist Church, where she was in the Deborah Sunday School class and the Current Missions Circle.

Surviving are brother, Robert Edward Frye of McLean, Va.; sisters, Mary Ruth Boroughs of Asheboro; one stepgranddaughter; two stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Wayne T. Allred, retired from Acme-McCrary after 51 years and a Sunday school teacher at her church,
