ASHEBORO - Alese Spivey Allred, 77, of 156 E. Academy St., Asheboro, died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, at Randolph Hospital.

A gathering of remembrance will be 2-3 p.m. Monday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro.

She was a native of Randolph County and worked as a welder in the Norfolk Naval Yard during World War II.

Surviving are daughters, Luanne Fedun of Denton, Denise Armstrong of Orlando, Fla.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Ola L. Jones
ASHEBORO - Ola Victoria Lunsford Jones, 91, of 413 Jones Road, Asheboro, died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, at her home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Charles A. Lindquist Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Shepherd U.M.C. Cemetery.

She was a native of Stokes County, the widow of Fred Jones, a retired textile worker, a member of Mt. Shepherd United Methodist Church and the former operator of Jones Grocery Store.

Surviving are daughters, Lona J. Sweatt of Asheboro, Phyllis Freedle of the home; brother, Eugene Lunsford of Stoneville; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 12:30-2 p.m. Tuesday.

FRANKLINVILLE - Charles Glenn "Dog" Martin, 56, of 3070 Oak Hollow Trail, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, with Dr. Buddy Smith officiating. Burial will be in Faith Temple Baptist Church Cemetery.

He was a native of Guilford County, of the Baptist faith and a self-employed painter.

Surviving are wife, Martha Martin of Franklinville; daughter, Wendy Sue Martin of Greensboro; sons, Michael Paul Martin and Charlie Glenn Martin II, both of Franklinville; sisters, Gina Painter of Monroe, Bobbie Cecil and Teresa Martin, both of Greensboro, Tammy Zimmerman of Julian; brothers, Billy Martin of Callan, Va., Ricky Martin of McLeansville; six grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Monday, other times at the home.

Barbara M. Cloer
LEXINGTON - Barbara Hodgin McCollum Cloer, 55, of 440 Island View Drive, died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.

Memorial service will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at Denton Wesleyan Church, Denton, where she was a member, with the Rev Charles Moses officiating. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Providence Friends Meeting.

She was a native of Guilford County and a day-care food supervisor at Davidson County Community College.

Surviving are daughter, Jeanie McCollum Holder of Beaufort; son, Joey V. McCollum of Denton; brothers, Mark Hodgin of Virginia Beach, Va., Drew Hodgin of Pleasant Garden; sisters, Carolyn Stone of Pleasant Garden, Marilyn Parris of Franklinville; two granddaughters.

The family will be at the home of Marilyn Parris, 3159 Mack Lineberry Road, Franklinville.

Betty C. Davis
ARCHDALE - Betty Canoy Davis, 70, of SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation Center of Asheboro, died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, with the Rev. Jeff Dawkins officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Randolph County and the widow of Jesse C. Davis.

Surviving are son, Carson Davis of Archdale; sister, Joann C. Yow of Asheboro; four grandchildren; two stepgranddaughters; one great-grandchild; three stepgreat-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8:30 p.m. Monday, other times at the home of the son, 6321 Cedar Square Road, Archdale.

Herbert F. Wrenn
PLEASANT GARDEN - Herbert F. "Sonny" Wrenn, 73, of 2671 Bethel Church Road, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Friendly Baptist Church, with the Rev. Richard Hedgecock officiating. Burial will be in Gilmore Memorial Park, Julian.

He was a native of Durham County and a retired truck driver with Overnite Transportation after 35 years.

Surviving are wife, Doris C. Wrenn of the home; sons, Gary Wrenn of Pleasant Garden, Michael Wrenn, Darryl Wrenn, Harold Wrenn, all of Greensboro; daughter, Linda Weldner of Winston-Salem; stepdaughters, Sheryl Kimball and Sandra Wosinski, both of Greensboro; brother, Cecil Wrenn of Texas; sisters, Jewell Hollaway of Durham, Wilma Bock of Zebulon; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty, 6-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home.

Henry L. White Jr.
SILER CITY - Henry L. White Jr., 69, of 216 E. Third St., died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Jim Wall and the Rev. Clark Davis officiating. Burial will be in Hickory Mountain United Methodist Cemetery, Pittsboro.

He was a native of Marlboro County, S.C., and a retired employee of the N.C. Department of Transportation Signs Division after 18 years. He was previously employed with B.C. Moore & Sons, Jones Department Store and the Jewel Box.

Surviving are daughter, Susan E. White of Virginia Beach, Va.; fiancee, Betty Joan Bowers of Bear Creek; half brother, Carson White; half sisters, Nellie Wood and Addle Taylor, both of Statesville.

The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-9 p.m. Monday.

Bessie F. Brewer
EAGLE SPRINGS - Bessie Furr Brewer, 89, of 8435 N.C. 705, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Browns Chapel Christian Church, with the Rev. Clarence Garner and the Rev. D.L. Hussey officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Moore County, a retired employee of Perdue Company and a charter member of Rock Hill Friends Church.

Surviving are husband, James Fulton "Jay" Brewer of the home; son, J.W. Brewer of Eagle Springs; daughter, Ann B. Eldridge of Broadway; brother, Fulton Furr of Boulder City, Nev.; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 7-9 p.m. Monday, other times at the home.

Roger G. Jaynes
CLEAR SPRINGS, Tenn. - Roger G. Jaynes, 57, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, in Johnson City, Tenn.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Jeffers Mortuary, Greeneville, Tenn., with the Rev. Susan Langford officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Vale Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery.

He was retired from automotive sales.

Surviving are wife, Phyllis Jaynes; daughter, Bridget J. Talley of Johnson City, Tenn.; son, Matthew Jaynes of Ohio; sister, Charlotte Patton of Asheboro; four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Pleasant Vale Cumberland Presbyterian Church or Clear Springs Chapel United Methodist Church.

Geraldine Clark
ASHEBORO - Geraldine "Gerry" Graham Clark, 80, of 782 Branchwater Road, Asheboro, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at her home.

Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Ray Lambe officiating. Burial will be in Bay Pines National Cemetery, St. Petersburg, Fla.

She was a native of Ambridge, Pa., former co-owner of C.G. Home Furnishings in Pinellas Park, Fla., and she attended Back Creek Friends Meeting.

Surviving are daughters, Kim Smith of Asheboro, Lynn Burr of Seminole, Fla., Jill Wick of Mebane; sons, Robert Clark of Palm Bay, Fla., James Clark of Tampa, Fla.; sister, Lucille Schmidt of Ambridge, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home following the memorial service.

ASHEBORO - Edith Allred Kearns, 87, of Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home, Asheboro, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, at Clapp's.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with Dr. John S. Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

She was a native of the Grays Chapel community, the widow of Jesse A. Kearns and a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Ruth Sunday School class, Sunshine Club, Senior Adult choir, Rachel James Circle and a deaconess. She was past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Randolph Chapter #210 and a volunteer for the Red Cross Bloodmobile.

Surviving are daughter, Jesalyn K. Thomas of Asheboro; son, Joe W. Kearns of Asheboro; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home of the son, 1673 Southwood Drive, Asheboro.

ARCHDALE - Margaret Kennedy Rich, 91, formerly of 5651 Edgar Road, died Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at Graybrier Nursing Center, Archdale.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Glenola Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Doug Davis and the Rev. Billy Self officiating. Burial will be in Marlboro Friends Meeting cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Hal I. Rich and a retired employee of Nixon Reynolds Hosiery.

Surviving are son, Frank S. Rich of Archdale; brothers, Robert Kennedy of Atlanta, Stanton Kennedy of Asheboro; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

The family will be at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home of the son, 3633 Edgar Road, Archdale,

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Clear Springs United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Sandy Young officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Davidson County, the widow of Tom P. Wong, with whom she had owned and operated The Ding Ho Chinese American Restaurant in Atlanta, and a member of the United Methodist Women.

Surviving are brothers, Kern Varner and Baxter Varner, both of Denton.

The family will be at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday.
