Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Larry Stines and the Rev. Wayne Holbrook officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a former employee of Charmeuse Hosiery, a retired employee of Eveready Battery and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.

Surviving are husband, Robert "Bob" Slade; daughter, Pamela Sue Lane of Brown Summitt; brother, Arthur Wade Walker of Sophia.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

SEAGROVE - Lonnie Clarence Cagle, 93, of 1302 Cagle Loop Road, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Union Grove Baptist Church, where he was a member, with Dr. Charles Harris and Benny C. Cagle officiating. Burial will be in Whynot Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, the widower of Dellamaie Graves Cagle, a retired farmer and land surveyor and a deacon and clerk at his church.

Surviving are daughters, Susan King of Seagrove, Catherine Cagle of Sneads Ferry; sons, Roger Cagle of Seagrove, Joe Cagle of Lynchburg, Va., Gerald Cagle of Avon, Ohio, Benny Cagle of Anderson, S.C.; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 6-9 p.m. Tuesday.

SILER CITY - Edna K. Dowd Burke, 84, of 1136 Rufus Brewer Road, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003, at SunBridge Care Facilities, Siler City.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Me-roney United Methodist Church, Bear Creek, with the Rev. Jim Whittaker and the Rev. David Wade officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Chatham County, the widow of John E. Burke and a homemaker.

Surviving are sons, Larry Burke and Buddy Burke, both of Siler City, Roger Burke of Pittsboro; daughters, Mary Catherine Green of Pittsboro, Mamie Lee Hall, Ellen F. Dixon, Bonnie L. Allen and Flida M. Smith, all of Siler City, Helen K. King of Woodbridge, Va.; brother, Bobby Dowd of Siler City; sisters, Jeanette D. Dollar of Siler City, Durema D. Burke of Asheboro; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren.

The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home of Mike and Ellen Dixon, 1136 Rufus Brewer Road, Siler City.

ASHEBORO - Ernest R. "Jo Jo" White, 85, of 711 Mountain Road, Asheboro, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Nellie Bescher officiating. Burial will be in Neighbor's Grove Wesleyan Church Cemetery.

He was a native of Montgomery County, a World War U.S. Army veteran, a retired employee of Acme-McCrary after 55 years and a former short stop for the McCrary Eagles. He was a city horseshoe champion and of the Presbyterian faith.

Surviving are wife, Hazel Nelson White; daugh- ter, Patsy Jo Anderson of Raleigh; two grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

He was a native of Robeson County and a retired employee of Klaussner Furniture Industries.

Surviving are wife, Iris Parnell of the home; daughters, Jo Ann Braxton and Sharon Richardson, both of Ramseur; sons, Mickey Parnell of Henderson, Eddie Parnell of Ramseur; sisters, Geneva Sherman of Richmond, Va., Rosa Lee Yeagle of Sunset Harbor; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

She was a native of Tazewell County, Va.

Kahle Jr. of Bluefield, W.Va.; brother, Marvin Harman of Bowling Green, Ky.; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren.

GREENSBORO - Boyd Isaiah Hamilton, 85, formerly of 5403 Fieldswood Drive, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003, at Wesley Long Nursing Center.

Funeral service is 2 p.m. Friday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Chris Davis officiating. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park.

He was a native of Asheboro, a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in World War II and retired from Kroger Food Stores after 30 years of service. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Greensboro.

Surviving are wife, Florence Apple Hamilton of the home; daughters, Betty Hamilton of Winston-Salem and Shirley Davis of Pleasant Garden; sons, Ray Hamilton of Greensboro and Larry Hamilton of Lexington; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday.

SILER CITY - Larry David "Bo" Ritter, 62, of 419 S. Second Ave., died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003, at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.

Memorial service is 6 p.m. Friday at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, with the Rev. Billy Joe Chriscoe officiating.

He was a Chatham County native and of the Baptist faith. He was retired from Boling Chair Company and had worked at Klaussner Furniture, Asheboro.

Surviving are wife, Christine Freeman Ritter of Siler City; son, Darrin Ritter of Bennett; daughter, Cynthia R. Martinez of Asheboro; brother, Kenneth E. Ritter of Burlington; sister, Lea Helen R. Godwin of Siler City; three grandsons.

The family will be at the funeral home immediately following the service.

ASHEBORO - Kevin Robert Rich, 44, of 307 Stratford Road, Archdale, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Marion Smith officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

He was a Randolph County native and a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. He had worked with Precision Fabrics and Jefferson Pilot of Greensboro.

Surviving are sisters, Carol Mullis of Browns Summit and Donna Rich of Raleigh; brother, Marty Rich of Troy; mother, Beatrice H. Rich of Asheboro.

The family will be at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Friday.

J. Vann Kidd
ASHEBORO - J. Vann Kidd, 59, of 3123 Lion's Rest Road, Asheboro, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003, at Randolph Hospital.

Memorial service will be held at a later date.

He was a Randolph County native and was formerly employed as a supervisor with Elastex for 28 years.

Surviving are wife, Eva Frances DeHart Kidd; sons, J. Brian Kidd and Jerry Wayne DeHart, both of Asheboro; daughter, Tamara Renae Kidd Edwards of Asheboro; sister, Mary Kidd Stanley of Lexington; brothers, Lesley "Bud" Kidd of Gibsonville, Willie "Bill" Kidd of Randleman, Archie "Dude" Kidd of Liberty and William Beige Kidd Jr. of Staley; five grandchildren.

The family will be at the home noon-7 p.m. Saturday.

FRANKLINVILLE - William Vaughn Moffitt, 79, of 281 Pleasant Ridge Road, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003, at his home.

Funeral service is 2 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Ridge Christian Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Monty Barker, the Rev. Tommy Johnson, the Rev. Ricky Sessoms and Timothy Moffitt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a Randolph County native and retired from Ramseur Worsted.

Surviving are wife, Rachel Allred Moffitt of the home; son, Timothy Moffitt of Ramseur; sisters, Bessie Gertrude Moffitt of Wilson and Ida York of Ramseur; three grandchildren.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday; other times at the residence.

He was a Chatham County native and a retired contractor/carpenter.

She was a native of Anson County, the widow of Charles Ivery Morton and a retired employee of Wiscassett Mills Co.

Surviving are son, Charles I. Morton Jr. of Asheboro; daughters, Judy C. Morton and Linda Morton, both of Archdale, Jane Morton of Albemarle; sister, Margaret Dick of Albemarle; three grandchildren.

She was a native of Bennett and retired from Hillsborough County Public Assistance Department. She was a member of the Christian Home Sunday School Class and the Mary Martha Circle.
