DENTON - Margie Jackson King, 66, of North Main Street, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999, at her home.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton.

Jose P. Candelero
CANDOR - Jose Perez Candelero, 20, of 116 Emergency Road, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Funeral service will be held at a later date in Vera Cruz, Mexico.

He was a native of Vera Cruz, Mexico, an upholsterer with RFI in Candor and a member of Iglesia de Dios Ebenezer, Candor.

Surviving are brother, Victor Martinez of Candor; several other brothers and sisters in Mexico.

The family will be at Briggs Candor Funeral Home, Candor, 4:30-9 p.m. Sunday.

Kyle E. Dean
CANDOR - Kyle Everett Dean, 69, of 107 Dusty Road, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Briggs Candor Funeral Home, Candor, with the Rev. William Dennis officiating. Burial will be in Candor Cemetery.

He was a native of Pittsburgh, Pa., and retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years.

Surviving are wife, Jean Kee Dean of the home; son, Kyle Everett Dean Jr. of Eugene, Ore.; stepson, James Hudgins of Tampa, Fla.; daughters, Dora Crippen of Huntsville, Texas, Dana McCallum of Biscoe; brother, Jack Reil of Elizabethtown; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 6:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday, other times at the home.

Ruth P. Burns
ROBBINS - Ruth Pendleton Burns, 87, of 210 Pinehurst St., died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, at Pinehurst Nursing Center.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Ernest G. Ferrell officiating. Burial will be in Pine Rest Cemetery.

She was a native of Greenville, S.C., formerly the pianist and organist and a member of the Harris Day Circle at her church and retired from Milliken Company, Robbins.

Surviving are daughter, Betty P. Enloe of Robbins; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 7-9 p.m. Friday, other times at the home of Sherri Dunlap, 391 Sunset Hills Road, Robbins.

Joseph H. Kidd
ROBBINS - Joseph Howard Kidd, 75, of 2080 N.C. 22, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999, at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Joseph Casteel, the Rev. Clarence Garner and the Rev. Lester Bissette officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Moore County, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a graduate of Elon College, a teacher for 32 years with the Moore County School system, former Adult Choir director, Sunday School teacher and member of the administrative board and Pleasant Hill Quartet at his church.

Surviving are wife, Evelyn Reynolds Kidd; daughters, Diana K. Norwood of Sanford, Jeanne K. Lamb of Asheboro; brother, Roy L. Kidd of Pittsboro; sister, Frances K. Kendall of Candor; three grandchildren.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 7-9 p.m. Saturday, other times at the home.

Bill Johnson
William Apel "Bill" Johnson, 72, of 330-41 W. Presnell St., Asheboro, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with Pastor Glenn Sauls, Pastor Steve Moore, Pastor Ed Arroyo and Pastor Eric Allred officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

He was a native of Columbus, Ohio, and a World War II U.S. Army veteran where he was recipient of the Distinguished Service Medal and the Purple Heart. He was a member of First Assembly of God, a former store manager for McCown Smith Department Store, Asheboro, formerly employed with Belk-Yates of Asheboro and presently employed with Belk Service Center, Greensboro.

Surviving are wife, Polly Adkins Johnson of Asheboro; daughter, Vickie J. Rose of Asheboro; three grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Sunday.

RANDLEMAN - Inez McLeod Laughlin, 75, of Randleman, died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, with the Rev. Frank Gribble officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Bladen County, the widow of Hubert Laughlin, a member of Gospel Baptist Church and retired from Laughlin Hosiery Mill, Randleman.

Surviving are sister, Annie Stephens of Raeford; brother, Joseph A. McLeod Jr. of Burleson, Texas; half sisters, Christie McLeod of Winston-Salem, Darlene Boone of Lumberton.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, Randolph Unit, P.O. Box 515, Asheboro, N.C. 27204.

Reeth M. Dennis
RANDLEMAN - Reeth McRae Dennis, 80, of Randleman, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, at Asheboro Health & Rehabilitation.

There is no funeral service planned.

He was a native of Randolph County and retired from Worthville Cotton Mill.

Surviving is sister, Meadows Johnson of Randleman.

Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, is in charge of the arrangements.

David D. Bulla
RANDLEMAN - David Dowd Bulla, 86, formerly of Greensboro, died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at Sunrise of the Triad Nursing Home, High Point.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Glennwood Friends Meeting, Greensboro, where he was a member, with the Rev. Norman Carter and the Rev. Robert Kidd officiating. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park.

He was a native of Randolph County, a member of the Pressley Foushee Sunday School class at his church, in the senior citizen fellowship program and retired after 40 years with J. D. Wilkins Company, Greensboro.

Surviving are daughter, Virginia B. "Ginger" Osborne of Randleman; sisters, Judy Forbis, Xurada Miller, Flora Belle Mesimore, Mary Key, all of Greensboro, Dorothy Moorefield of Wilmington, Mozelle Lewis of Monroe, Ga.; brothers, Clarence Bulla of Greensboro, Ben Bulla of Randleman, Joe Bulla of Greenville, Bill Bulla of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; two grandsons; one great-granddaughter.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday.

LIBERTY - Floyd Overman of 821 W. Swannanoa Ave., died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Lewis Grove Holiness Church, Liberty. Burial will be in Amos Grove Cemetery.

Surviving are mother, Elois H. Overman of Liberty; sons, Jeremy Williams, Brian Williams, both of Asheboro; brothers, Edward Overman, Leonard Overman, Charles Overman; sisters, Bernice Bumpas, Emogene Davis, Scenetta Foxx, Darlene Boykins, Mary Overman, Pamela Overman, all of Liberty.

The family will be at the church 2-3 p.m. Sunday.

DENTON - Margie Jackson Standard King, 66, of North Main Street, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999, at her home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, with the Rev. Joseph Hamblin officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.

She was a native of Troup County, Ga., a seamstress with Playtex, LaGrange, Ga., and a cashier at K & W Cafeteria, Winston-Salem.

Surviving are husband, Gary Wayne King of Denton; sons, Johnny Standard of Denton, William Standard of LaFayette, Ala., Michael Standard of Salisbury, Phillip Standard of Denton; daughter, Penny S. Looney of LaFayette, Ala.; one stepdaughter; brothers, Carl Jackson of LaGrange, Ga., Charles Jackson of Manchester, Ga.; sisters, Sherlene J. Sticher of Louise, Ga., Judy J. Mingo of Bellingham, Wash., Vickie J. Mingo of Arizona; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren.

Vannie M. Fagg
SILER CITY - Vannie Sue Mabe Fagg, 94, of 819 N. Fir Ave., died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at Chatham Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Brookdale Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Walter Jones officiating. Burial will be in Chatham Memorial Park.

She was a homemaker and retired from Robins and Ghant, Siler City.

Surviving are daughters, Linda F. Phillips of Brown Summit, Tammy F. Wester of Pittsboro; sons, David W. Fagg of Asheboro, Louis M. Fagg, Harry K. Fagg, both of Siler City; sister, Lucy Mabe of Kernersville; brother, Manly Mabe of Kernersville; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, is in charge of the arrangements.

Mitchell P. Brewer
BENNETT - Mitchell Palmer Brewer, 78, of 725 Clarence Phillips Road, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Pine Mountain Friends Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Gaither Reich and the Rev. Ron Chaney officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites.

He was a native of Chatham County, a retired farmer, employed with Brower Grocery at Harpers Cross Roads for many years and a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are wife, Carrie Phillips Brewer of the home; son, Howard Gail Brewer of Bennett; sister, Gertrude B. Talley of Bear Creek; two grandchildren.

The family will be at Joyce-Brady Funeral Home, Bennett, 7-9 p.m., Sunday.

Sarah C. Whitley
KANNAPOLIS - Sarah Ann "Sallie" Caudle Whitley, 57, of 501 W. 22nd St., died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at her home.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Whitley's Funeral Home, Kannapolis, with the Rev. Ronnie Cooper officiating.

She was a native of Cabarrus County and was retired after approximately 20 years from the former Cabarrus Memorial Hospital, Concord, as a cardiac registered nurse.

Surviving are husband, Chase Andrew Winfield Whitley; sons, Shohn Whitley, Todd Whitley; daughter, Kelly W. Plott; brother, Ollie Reed "Mickey" Caudle; seven grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 1-2 p.m. Sunday.

Uavah K. Hoover
Uavah Kinney Hoover, 84, of Asheboro Health & Rehabilitation Center, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, at the Center.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Back Creek Friends Meeting, where she was a member, with the Rev. Ray Lambe officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County and retired from Sapona Manufacturing.

Surviving are sons, Thomas E. Hoover of Ramseur, Clinton W. Hoover of Huntsville, Ala., Garry Lynn Hoover of Asheboro; brothers, Doyle Kinney of Randleman, Arlen Kinney, Wade Kinney, both of Asheboro; sister, Vivian Strider of Asheboro; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 7-9 p.m. Monday, other times at the home of Thomas E. Hoover, 759 Patterson Grove Road, Ramseur.

Clara L. Prevost
THOMASVILLE - Clara Mae Loflin Prevost, 90, of 608 Kennedy Farm Road, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 1999, at Community General Hospital, Thomasville.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Westfield Baptist Church, Trinity, where she was a member, with the Rev. Douglas Stevens officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Ross Allen Prevost with whom she owned and operated Prevost Store and was a member of the Women's Missionary Society.

Surviving are stepson, R.A. Prevost of Archdale; sisters, Mabel Myers of Thomasville, Jewell Miller of Randleman; brothers, Worth Loflin of Trinity, Dolan Loflin of Thomasville.

The family will be at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, Thomasville, 7-9 p.m. Monday, other times at the home of Dolan Loflin, 14 Wellosake Drive, Thomasville.

CANDOR - Reid Gilmore Jordan, 72, of 649 Belford Church Road, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 1999, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Tabernacle Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jack Phillips officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Montgomery County, the widower of Juanita Epps Jordan, a graduate of Candor High School, a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a chicken farmer for over 40 years. He was a member of the National Guard in Raeford, a member of Biscoe Masonic Lodge #454 AF & AM and attended Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Surviving are sons, Jeff Jordan of Candor, Mark Jordan of Seagrove, Tim Jordan of Troy; daughter, Sandy J. Dunn of Mt. Gilead; brothers, Trenton Jordan of Candor, Clifford Jordan of Mt. Gilead; sister, Dorothy Liles of Princeton; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home, Candor, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home.

Pauline P. Wilson
BEAR CREEK - Pauline Phillips Wilson, 80, of 16635 N.C. 902, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, at Chatham Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bear Creek Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Bob Wachs officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Sunday School class at her church.

Surviving are husband, Fred Wilson of Bear Creek; sons, Mike Wilson of Bear Creek, Gale Wilson of Staley; sister, Geneva P. Lowe of Bear Creek; brothers, Kelly Phillips of Bear Creek, Curtis Phillips of High Point; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

PLEASANT GARDEN - Betty Bowman Fields, 85, of 5759 Hagan Stone Park Road, died Monday, Jan. 18, 1999, at Rehabilitation and Health Care Center of Alamance.

Funeral service will be 2 p .m. Wednesday at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty, with the Rev. Richard E. Brooks Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Tabernacle United Methodist Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Guilford County, the widow of Arthur Fields, a retired employee with Liberty Chair and a member of Friendly Baptist Church in Red Cross.

Surviving are daughters, Dorothy Hinshaw of Burlington, Ruth Windham of Jackson, Miss., Martha Morton of Greensboro; sons, Martin D. Fields of Pleasant Garden, John R. Fields of Greensboro, Grady Joe Fields of Climax; 26 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home of Martin D. Fields, 5757 Hagan Stone Park Road, Pleasant Garden.

James E. Spinks
SILER CITY - James E. Spinks, 76, of 3336 Old Coleridge Road, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 1999, at Chatham Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at C.C. Hodges Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Jeff West officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

He was a native of Randolph County and a U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are wife, Marqurite Spinks of the home; sister, Clarice Spinks of Siler City; brothers, Albert Spinks of Ramseur, William Spinks, Otis Spinks, Floyd Spinks, all of Siler City.

The family will be at the funeral home 6-7 p.m. Wednesday.

Hannelore Friedrich
MARNE, DITHMARSCHEN, GERMANY - Hannelore Friedrich, 72, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999.

A memorial service will be 8 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Asheboro, with the Rev. Kenneth C. Gillikin officiating.

She was a homemaker, attended the Maria Magdalene Church and was a nursing home volunteer.

Surviving are husband, Horst Otto Friedrich; daughters, Barbara F. Tchamabe of Munich, Germany, Sylvia Friedrich of Wittdun/Amrum, Germany, Dagmar Dittberner of Nordhastedt, Germany, Bettina F. Moriarity of Franklinville; eight grandchildren.

The family will be at the church following the service.
