CLIMAX - Ruth Cox Lineberry, 79, of 5777 N.C. 22 N., died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Grays Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Bart Millicent officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County and a member of the Women's Society of Christian Service.

Surviving are husband, Clarence W. Lineberry of the home; sisters, Blanche Powell of Sophia, Mary Underwood and Doris Beeson, both of Franklinville, Louvelia Morris of Asheboro, and Rachel Davis, Irene Surratt, Margaret Ester and Martha Williamson, all of Randleman; brothers, John Page Cox of Franklinville, Wayne Cox of Jacksonville, Ark., Percy Cox Jr. of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and James Ray Cox and Charles Cox, both of Asheboro.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home Liberty 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday and other times at the residence.

ROCKINGHAM - Jessie S. Long, 88, of 108 Homeward Drive, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, at Victoria Healthcare in Asheville.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at East Rockingham FWB Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Mitchell Roller officiating. Burial will be in Richmond Memorial Park.

He was a native of Columbus County, an honorary deacon at his church, a member of East Rockingham Men's Club and a retired textile employee.

Surviving are wife, Margaret Dawkins Long; sons, Mitchell Long of Charlotte and Jerry Long of Hickory; daughters, Frances McDaniel of Lincolnton and Nancy McLellan of Asheboro; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Julius C. Maness
ROBBINS - Julius C. "J.C." Maness, 77, of 124 Rushwood Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Joseph Casteel officiating. Burial with Masonic rites and military honors will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, retired from the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force after 30 years, a member of the Methodist Men's Club and the Administrative Board at his church, a Past Master of the Elise Masonic Lodge 555 and a member of Robbins V.F.W. Post 9245.

Surviving are wife, Lucille Williams Maness of the home; daughters, Gwen M. Mabe, Brenda M. Hendrix and Mary Lou Kelley, all of Greensboro, and Donna Harrell of Gatlinburg, Tenn.; sister, Linda M. Malamphy of California; brother, Arnold Maness of Wilmington; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home in Robbins 7-9 p.m. Friday and other times at the residence.

LIBERTY - Mary Jane Tedder, 61, of 6229 Coble Church Road, died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999, at her residence.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Dr. Charles Adams officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Berkley, Mich., treasurer of the Kimesville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the widow of Richard Tedder.

Surviving are daughter, Linda T. Foley of Hattiesburg, Miss.; sons, Rick Tedder of Climax and Jim Tedder of Liberty; sister, JoAnn DeMilner of White Lake, Mich.; six grandchildren.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home Liberty, 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

William R. Williamson
SILER CITY - William Robert Williamson, 84, of 900 W. Dolphin St., died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, at Sunrise Care Facilities.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Smyrna United Methodist Church in Robbins, where he was a member, with the Rev. Jimmie R. Tatum and Rev. Hayes Ritter officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a retired farmer and fur trapper.

The family will be at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home 7-9 p.m. Thursday and other times at the home of a niece, Teresa Brown, 22076 N.C. 902, Bennett.

Gregory Alston
Gregory "Ba Todd" Alston, 30, of 1419 Rolling Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Greater St. John Baptist Church with the Rev. James Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County and a self-employed brickmason.

Surviving are wife, Jennifer Alston of the home; sons, Johnathan Alston of the home, Chad Alston and Greg Alston, both of Siler City, and Aaron Baldwin of Asheboro; daughter, Shante Alston of Siler City; parents, Jessie and Lena M. Alston of Asheboro; brothers, Terry Alston of Greensboro and Darry Alston, Ricky Alston, Michael Alston, Thomas Brown and Cedric Brown, all of Asheboro.

The family will be at C.C. Hodges Funeral Service Chapel 6-7 p.m. Saturday.

Rev. Roy W. Flannery
The Rev. Roy William Flannery, 73, of 866 Mountain Road, Asheboro, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999, at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Valley Home Baptist Church in Todd with the Rev. John Little and Rev. James Flannery officiating. Burial will be in Woodford Cemetery in Todd.

He was a native of Tennessee, pastor of the Pentecostal Church of the Living God in High Point, a board member of the Pentecostal Church of the Living God of Wilkesboro and retired from the Presbyterian Home.

Surviving are wife, Thelma P. Flannery; brothers, James Flannery of Norwood, Manuel Flannery of Todd, Dwight Flannery and Wayne Flannery, both of Thomasville, and Carroll Flannery of Baldwin; sisters, Annie Mundy of Hickory, Juanita Martin of Sparta, Nettie Perkins of Jefferson, Chelsea Gaulpny of Todd and Lois Williams of Thomasville.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home Asheboro 7-9 p.m. Saturday.

Walter R. Lanier Sr.
Walter Ray Lanier Sr., 91, of 1157 Crestview Church Road, Asheboro, died Friday, Jan. 29, 1999, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Asheboro Friends Meeting, where he was a member, with the Rev. Robert Kidd and Rev. Leslie Winslow officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

He was a native of Randolph County, attended High Point College, was the former owner and operator of Lanier's Grocery and was a Sunday School teacher and choir member at his church.

Surviving are wife, Iris Lanier of the home; daughter, Mary LaRue Lanier Kinney of the home; sons, Terrence Brooks Lanier of Sophia and W.R. Lanier Jr. and James Herbert "Jimmy" Lanier, both of Asheboro; sisters, Flava Peterson of Sophia and Beulah Bunton of Liberty; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home 7-9 p.m. Saturday and other times at the home.

Louella L. Pierce
Louella Mae Loflin Pierce, 78, formerly of Asheboro, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999, at Mountain Vista Health Park in Denton.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. George McDowell officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Randolph County, retired from Randolph Hospital and the widow of Colon R. Pierce.

Surviving are sisters, Zettie Snider of Asheboro, Bessie McDowell of Denton and Paulene Hall of Greensboro.

The family will be at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Saturday and other times at the home of Zettie Snider, 1712 Old Farmer Road, Asheboro.

Artense B. Hussey
EAGLE SPRINGS - Artense Britt Hussey, of 8975 N.C. 705, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Smyrna United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. J.R. Tatum officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Moore County, a member of DAR and UDC, past president of the United Methodist Women and a member of the Administrative Board at her church and a retired inspection specialist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Surviving are husband, Cranford Hussey of the home; sons, Terry Van Hussey of Corpus Christi, Texas, Philip Hussey of Houston, Texas, and Steve Hussey of Arlington, Va.; sister, Betty B. Morphis of Robbins; brother, Bobby Britt of Robbins; three grandchildren.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home in Robbins 7-9 p.m. Saturday.

JULIAN - Timmy Ray Kearns, 39, of 5210 Folgers Mill Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Kingdom Hall Jehovah's Witnesses in Liberty. Committal service will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Tucker Cemetery in Seagrove.

Surviving are wife, Connie Kearns of the home; daughter, Tiffeny Kearns of the home; son, Nicholas Kearns of the home; mother and stepfather, Ella Mae and Dick Dressler of Climax; sister, Janie Tuttle of Julian; brothers, Dennis Kearns of Liberty, Johnny Kearns of Staley and Jeff Kearns of Silk Hope; grandmother, Pauline Smith of Bear Creek.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home in Liberty 7-9 p.m. Friday and other times at the residence.

BISCOE - Eva Dryden Long, 79, of Poquoson, Va., died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999, at Riverside Hospital in Newport News, Va.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Page Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Beck officiating. Burial will be in Biscoe Cemetery.

She was the widow of Auley C. Long.

Surviving are daughter, Helen L. Roush of Kingsville, Md.; sister, Mary Dryden Jones of Poquoson, Va.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Phillips Funeral Home in Star 7-9 p.m. Sunday.

Surviving are son, Dr. Larry Mabe of Pittsboro; brothers, Douglas Whitlock and Zacc Whitlock; sisters, Ruth Mabe, Rachel Hayes and Lucille Williams, all of Newport News, Va.; grandson, Matthew Mabe of the home.

The family will be at Griffin Funeral Service in Pittsboro 7-9 p.m. Saturday.

Billie D. Forester
Billie Dalton Forester, 81, of 505 Cliff Road, Asheboro, died Friday, Jan. 29, 1999, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Michael Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was retired from Belk's.

Surviving are daughters, Bobbie Hitch of Chattworth, Calif., Ann F. Schwarz of Asheboro; son, Thomas E. Forester Jr. of Asheboro; brother, Harley Dalton of Blackstone, Va.; sister, Lola Cerkle of Blackstone, Va.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Wesley C. Jones
Wesley Calvin "Dub" Jones, 70, of 827 Fermer Road, Asheboro, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, at Brian Center, Salisbury.

Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Monday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with Dr. John S. Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, a U.S. Navy veteran, retired from Black & Decker, a member of American Legion Post #45 and a member of First Baptist Church.

Surviving are wife, Helen Dixon Jones of Asheboro; son, Ronald Jones of Asheboro; sister, Juanita J. Josserand of Portland, Ore.; brother, Willis A. Jones of Franklinville; one granddaughter.

She was a native of Moore County and a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Asheboro.

Surviving are daughters, Jettie S. Payne of Carolina Beach, Betty S. James of North Myrtle Beach, SC.; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

George C. Gregson
RANDLEMAN - George Clay Gregson, 78, of Pleasant Garden, died Friday, Jan. 29, 1999, at his home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, with the Rev. Mark Andrews, the Rev. Charles Adams and Andrew Gregson officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

He was retired from Sears after 33 years as a service supervisor, was a member of Revolution Masonic Lodge #552 in Greensboro and of Metrolina Basha in Charlotte, was of the Methodist faith, and a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran.

Surviving are wife, Annie Lou Beaman Gregson; sisters, Ruth G. Wall of Randleman, Helen Gregson of Floyd, Va., Ola Mae G. Brown of Raleigh, Sara G. Fields of Lake Waccamaw, Marie G. Shoe of Pleasant Garden; brothers, James Gregson of Ferrum, Va., Clayton Gregson of Wadesboro.

The family will be at the funeral home 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sunday.

Eula S. Coggins
HIGH POINT - Eula Lee Swaim Coggins, 94, of 407 Ferndale Drive, died Friday, Jan. 29, 1999, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Old Union United Methodist Church, Sophia, where she was a member, with the Rev. Lanny Lancaster officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Sophia, where she attended school, was the widow of John Wesley Coggins, had worked at Adams-Millis Hosiery Mills and ran a boarding house for many years at her home.

Surviving are son, Joe Coggins; brother, Cleo Swaim of High Point; three grandchildren; five great-grandsons.

Sechrest Funeral Home, High Point, is in charge of the arrangements.

SILER CITY - Mary Curl "Moon" Thomas, 76, of 4456 Moon Lindley Road, died Friday, Jan. 29, 1999, at Alamance Regional Medical Hospital, Burlington.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Plainfield Friends Meeting, where she was a member, with the Rev. Ken Thames and the Rev. Pat Thames officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Surviving are daughters, JoAnne R. Hicks of Siler City, Helen R. Causey of Panama City Beach, Fla., Joyce M. Dabbs of Burlington; sons, Harold L. Rogers of Smithfield, Va., Samuel C. Moon of Bedford, Texas; brothers, Boyd Curl, R.C. Curl Jr., both of Graham; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
