LIBERTY - Orlynne Gambrell Gregson, 86, of 602 Greenbriar St., died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

She was a native of Lexington, the widow of Dwight Gregson and was a homemaker.

Surviving are daughter, Peggy Davis of Liberty; sons, Doug Gregson and Jim Gregson, both of Greensboro; stepmother, Irene Gambrell of Lexington; sister, Vivian Taylor of Aiken S.C.; stepsister, Sarah Carson of Blackstone, Va.; stepbrother, Norman Gambrell of Lexington; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty, 7:30-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home.

Teresa L. Morton
CANDOR - Teresa Lynn Morton, 20, of 5209 Pekin Road, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Blackwood Chapel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gary McNeill officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a 1999 graduate of West Montgomery High School.

Surviving are father, Bobby D. Morton of the home; brothers, Mickey Morton, Mitchell Morton, both of Candor; grandmothers, Sadie Greene Morton of Candor, Bernice Boyd Tucker of Ocean Isle.

The family will be at McKeithan Funeral Home, Mt. Gilead, 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.

Robert L. Jarvis
ASHEBORO - Robert Lee Jarvis, 77, of 248 Harvell St. Ext., Asheboro, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Asheboro United Church of Christ, where he was a member, with the Rev. J. Nathan King officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

He was a native of Asheboro, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, a retired supermarket manager and was a deacon and Sunday School teacher at his church.

Surviving are wife, Allene Hill Jarvis; daughter, Barbara Hughes of Sanford; brother, Ray Jarvis of Asheboro; two grandsons; three great-grandsons.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

John W. Church
RANDLEMAN - John "Johnny" William Church, 40, of 117 Trollinger St., died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Henry Sink and Dr. John Noble officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

He was a 1979 graduate of Asheboro High School, attended East Carolina University, was a graduate of Randolph Community College and a 1982 graduate of Elon College. He was a member of Balfour Baptist Church, attended St. John's Lutheran Church and was an assistant baseball coach for Randleman Parks and Recreation Department. He was vice president and comptroller of Oakhurst Textiles in Greensboro.

Surviving are wife, Vicky Stafford Church; son, Derek Rhyne Church of the home; daughter, Julie Weston Church of the home; parents, Joseph and Kathryn Church of Asheboro; sisters, Becky Solomon of Atlanta, Ga., Susie Luther and Betsy Jane Church, both of Asheboro; brother, Joseph White Church Jr. of Sophia.

Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, is in charge of the arrangements.

Ina R. Wall
ARCHDALE - Ina Jane Robbins Wall, 95, formerly of 117 Julian Ave., died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at the GrayBrier Nursing and Retirement Center.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Archdale United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Harold D. Shives and the Rev. Barney Pierce officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Dempsey G. Wall and a homemaker.

Surviving are daughter, Margie Lee Wall of the home; sister, Alta Overman of High Point; brother, Charlie Robbins of Lexington.

The family will be at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

William C. Twiddy
LIBERTY - William Charles Twiddy, 85, of 1017 Pineknoll St., died Sunday, Dec. 3, 200O, at his home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Charles Bell officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

He was a native of Elizabeth City, a graduate of Needham Broughton High School, Raleigh, and of Wake Forest College, and was a World War II and Korean Conflict U.S. Army veteran and a major in the Reserve. He was decorated for Meritorious Performance of Duty as Chief of the Guided Missile and Special Weapon Section in the Material Maintenance Division, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics.

Surviving are wife, Rachel Brower Twiddy of the home; daughter, Martha T. Medlar and her husband, Laren Medlar, of the home; son Charles Brower Twiddy of Laurel, Miss.

The family will be at the church 10-10:45 a.m., prior to the service.

Bernard L. Corbett
TROY - Bernard L. Corbett, 82, of 187 Corbett Road, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at the Veteran's Administration Hospital, Salisbury.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Grady Blakely, the Rev. Larry Beaver and the Rev. Dexter Gibson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Montgomery County, a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a retired machine operator with Collins & Aikman Corp.

Surviving are daughter, Judy C. Smith of Troy; son, Jimmy Corbett of Troy; sisters, Flora Holdsclaw of Troy, Julia Allen and Josephine Smith, both of Asheboro; three grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, Troy, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home.

Eli D. Maness
ROBBINS - Eli Darlington "Dot" Maness, 80, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at Manor Care Health Center, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Smyrna United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Joseph Forbes officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Moore County and a retired farmer.

Surviving are sister, Bertha M. Scott of Robbins; brother, William Herbert Maness of Randleman.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Dorothy S. Garner
BENNETT - Dorothy Shields Garner, 78, of 1685 Bernard Purvis Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Beulah Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Eddie Bumpers, the Rev. Robert Kidd and the Rev. Roger Riffe officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Chatham County and formerly operated a grocery store.

Surviving are daughters, Edith Martindale of Robbins, Grace Dunn of Lake Tillery, Mae Evangelista of Bennett; sons, Roy Garner and Wayne Garner, both of Bennett; brother, Quinton Shields of Bennett; sisters, Eula Phillips, Marie Maness, Beatrice Hill and Lucy Wallace, all of Bennett; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Joyce-Brady Funeral Home, Bennett, 7-9 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home of Mae Evangelista, 843 Wilson Road, Bennett.

James M. Greeson Sr.
ASHEBORO - James McKinley "Tooney" Greeson Sr., 85, of 2150 Golda Ave., Asheboro, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Friday at Neighbor's Grove Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. Mark Wilburn and the Rev. Joe Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

He was a native of Guilford County, attended Neighbor's Grove Wesleyan Church and was a retired inspector with Moore, Gardner and Associates Inc.

Surviving are daughter, Barbara G. Nixon of Asheboro; son, James M. "Jim" Greeson Jr. of Asheboro; sister, Lucille Craven of Franklinville; four grandchildren.

The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Nixon, 312 Greenlawn Drive, Asheboro.

Patricia R. Farlow
RANDLEMAN - Patricia Risley Farlow, 68, of 4520 Branson Davis Road, Sophia, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at her home.

Graveside memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Marlboro Friends Meeting cemetery, with the Rev. Dale Tanner officiating.

She was a native of Dennison, Ohio, a U.S. Army veteran, a retired employee of Deep River Dye and a member of Forest Park Baptist Church.

Surviving are daughter, Bobbie Sue Farlow of Sophia; sons, Dallas Farlow of Sophia, Richard S. Farlow II of Madison; brothers, Dan Risley of Ohio, Dal Risley of Washington, David Risley of Texas; sister, Sue Risley of Ohio; three grandchildren.

William M. Rawls
GREENSBORO - William McClellan Rawls, 74, of Lake Drive, Roaring Gap, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Greensboro. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Roaring Gap Church cemetery, Roaring Gap.

He was a native of Rockingham and a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was formerly employed with Acme-McCrary Corp. in Asheboro, was the vice president of Sandhurst Mills in Rockingham, the senior vice president of the hosiery division of the Hanes Corp. and was a retired executive vice-president of Kayser-Roth Corp. He was a member of the National Association of Hosiery Manufacturers, of which he was a chairman of the board and a Man of the Year.

Surviving are wife, Anne Abbott Rawls; daughters, Janet R. DeLoache of Charlotte, Anne R. Zollicoffer of Durham; brother, Harry Lee Rawls of Rockingham; sister, Ruth R. Thaxton of Spartanburg, S.C.; four grandchildren.

The family will be at the church following the service on Friday.

Inez C. Blair
SILER CITY - Inez C. Blair, 78, of 430 Foadle Ave., Southport, formerly of Siler City, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at Ocean Trail Convalescent Center, Southport.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, with the Rev. Warren Owens officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

She was a native of Chatham County, a member of West End United Methodist Church and secretary of the Sunday school. She was owner-operator of Chatham Coffee Shop and was retired from A. J. Schneierson & Sons.

Surviving are sisters, Frances B. Pickett of Siler City, Ruby B. Snyder of Oak Island, Zadie B. Myers of Greensboro.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home of Frances B. Pickett, 917 N. Glenn Ave., Siler City.

William R. Hancock
STAR - William Robertson Hancock, 81, of 132 Will Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital, Troy.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Suggs Creek Primitive Baptist Church cemetery, with the Rev. Clay Davis officiating.

Surviving is wife, Louise Hancock of Star.

The family will be at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

William S. High Jr.
MOREHEAD CITY - William S. "Bill" High Jr., 77, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at Harborview Towers in Morehead City.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Munden Funeral Home, Morehead City, with the Rev. James Gurganus officiating.

He was the widower of Virginia "Ginny" Myers High, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, received a good conduct medal, two ribbons and the purple heart and had retired after 26 years with the Social Security Administration.

Surviving is sister, Katherine High Brantley of Bailey.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Carteret County Unit, Box 53, Morehead City, N.C. 28557 or the charity of one's choice.

Lacy McNeill
STELLA - Lacy McNeill, 88, of 130 White Oak Bluffs, formerly of Asheboro, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Munden Funeral Home, Morehead City, with the Rev. H.C. Hardesty and the Rev. J.R. Wollenschlager officiating. Burial will be in Seaside Cemetery, Swansboro.

He was a homebuilder in Fayetteville and Emerald Isle and had built Capt. Lacy's Motel in Emerald Isle.

Surviving are wife, Grace Stubbs McNeill; daughters, Patsy Bullard of Fayetteville, Judith Grafton of Peletier; sons, Tony McNeill and Eddie McNeill, both of Peletier; sister, Alene Ossic of Asheboro; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday.

ASHEBORO - Minnie Beatrice Handy, 88, of 108 Carolina Ave., Asheboro, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at Carolina House Of Asheboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, at Fayetteville Street Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Adrian Pugh officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Stuart, Va.

Surviving are sisters, Annie Burrow Shaw of Asheboro, Bea Whitlow of Richmond, Va.

ASHEBORO - Baxter Glenn Jarrell, 81, of Greensboro, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at Veterans Hospital in Durham.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, at Central Wesleyan Church, Asheboro.

He was a native of Asheboro and a World War II U.S. Army/Air Force veteran. He played football at Asheboro High School and was a starter on the 1946 University of North Carolina football team.

The family will be at the church after the service.

ASHEBORO - Kay Greenwald McNeill, 53, of 4262 U.S. 49 S., Asheboro, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, at First Baptist Church, where she was a member, with Dr. John S. Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

She was a native of Tifton, Ga., a hairstylist, co-owner of Twin Creek Emu Farms and a member of German Shepherd Dog Club of America.

Surviving are husband, Allen Ritter McNeill; step-sons, Allen Ray McNeill, Kelly Douglas McNeill, James Eric McNeill, Leonard Keith McNeill, all of Asheboro, David Charles McNeill of Randleman; stepdaughter, Belinda Kay Bolick of Winston-Salem; six grandsons.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Friday.
