Earl Walton Thomas Sr., 76, of 3761 U.S. 64 East, Asheboro, died Sunday, April 19, 1998, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Franklinville United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Robert Shelton and the Rev. David Christy officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a meat cutter at Franklinville Store, retired from Acme-McCrary Hosiery and a charter member of Franklinville Lions Club.

Surviving are wife, Donna Lee Thomas of the home; son, Wally Thomas of Asheboro; stepson, Mike Chisholm of Seagrove; brothers, Duard Thomas, George Thomas, Leslie Thomas, all of Asheboro; sister, Lillie Caviness of Ramseur; one grandchild.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Marge Carroll

Mary Margaret "Marge" Clark Carroll, 81, of 601 Dixon Ave., Asheboro, died Sunday, April 19, 1998, at her home.

A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Randolph Memorial Park, with Father Joseph Mack officiating.

She was a native of Cleveland, Ohio, the widow of Charles E. "Chuck" Carroll and a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Surviving are son, Timothy C. Carroll of Darlington, S.C.; daughters, Faith M. Carroll, Nannette C. Wood, Sharleen C. Kindley, all of Asheboro; brother, John K. Clark of Cleveland, Ohio; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Donald James Alston, 44, of Brian Center Health & Rehabilitation, Asheboro, died Wednesday, April 15, 1998, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service was 4 p.m. Tuesday at Knotts & Son Funeral Home, Siler City. Burial will be in Unity Power House Church Cemetery.

E. Loy Thomas Sr.

PITTSBORO - E. Loy Thomas Sr., 80, of 1915 Pete Thomas Road, died Sunday, April 19, 1998, at his home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Paul West and the Rev. Perry Hardison officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Chatham County, widower of Mozelle Clark Thomas, owned and operated E. L. Thomas & Sons Construction Company, served on the board of trustees and building committee at his church and was a founding member of Silk Hope Ruritan Club.

Surviving are sons, E. Loy Thomas Jr. of Pittsboro, Joe Thomas of Snow Camp, Donnie Thomas of Pittsboro; sisters, Mary Johnson, Lula Shaw, both of Pittsboro; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren.

The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

SNOW CAMP - Walter A. "Shorty" Ward of 3360 Tom Stevens Road, died Sunday, April 19, 1998, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Plainfield Friends Meeting, with the Rev. Lee Lane officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, an independent trucker, a World War II U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of Liberty American Legion Post #81.

Surviving are wife, Martha Marshall Ward; sisters, Rebecca MaGruder of Siler City, Gertrude Soderman of Laguna Hills, Calif., Mary McAtee of New Berry Park, Calif.; brothers, Dennis Wesley Ward of Greensboro, William O. Ward of Ramseur, Robert E. Ward of Liberty.

The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Kimberly N. Hughes
Kimberly Louise Neese Hughes, 38, of 4485 Ridgeback Road, Asheboro, died Thursday, April 23, 1998, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro. Burial will be in Westfield Baptist Church Cemetery.

She was an employee of Arrow International.

Surviving are husband, Walter Keith Hughes; brothers, Billy Neese, Eddie Neese, both of Randleman, Stevie Neese of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; sisters, Terri King of Charlotte, Jerri Lynn Hewitt of Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Lamon C. Mofield

SEAGROVE - Lamon C. Mofield, 72, of 139 Mt. Zion Church Road, died Saturday, April 25, 1998, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Monday at Union Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ron Copple and the Rev. Grady Blakely officiating. Burial will be in the church Cemetery, with military rites.

He was a native of Moore County, retired from Klopman Mills, a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a member of D.A.V. chapter No. 12 in Albemarle.

Surviving are wife, Annie McNeill Mofield of the home; son, Charles Mofield of Seagrove; brothers, Dallas Mofield, Harden Mofield, both of Aberdeen, Eugene Mofield of Lowell, Mass., sisters, Elizabeth Lambert of Robbins, Annie Ruth Rogers of Ellerbe.

The family will be at the Phillips Funeral Home, Star, 7-9 p.m. Sunday.

Charles H. Dobbins

TRINITY - Charles Hugh Dobbins, 93, of GrayBrier Nursing and Retirement Center, formerly of 6649 Fairview Church Road, died Friday, April 24, 1998, at the nursing center.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Cumby Funeral Home, Archdale, with the Rev. Harold Shives and the Rev. Garland McDowell officiating. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery.

He was a native of Carbon Hill, Ala., the widower of Mittie McDowell Dobbins, a retired employee of Silver Craft Furniture Co. and a member of the First Church of God.

Surviving are daughter, Marie Croker of Trinity; sons, Charles W. Dobbins of Trinity, L. Herman Dobbins of Archdale, Larry G. Dobbins of Cary; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

John D. Wright

SILER CITY - John David Wright, 48, of 1636 Smith Hudson Road, died Wednesday, April 22, 1998.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Rocky River Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Greg Burriss officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Chatham County and a poultry farmer.

Surviving are mother, Mary Joyce Fuquay Wright; sister, Joe Ann W. Willoughby of Siler City; brother, Dickie Wright of Siler City.

The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-9 p.m. Sunday, other times at the home.

J. Howard Allen

TROY - J. Howard Allen, 70, of South Church Street, Asheboro, died Friday, April 24, 1998, at Clapps Convalescent Nursing Home, Asheboro.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Macedonia United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Derald Smith and the Rev. Michael Swofford officiating. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.

He was a native of Montgomery County, a retired schoolteacher with the Montgomery County Schools System after 38 years, was an organist for Dogwood Acres Presbyterian Church, Asheboro, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Surviving are brother, Robert W. Allen of Troy; sisters, Lillian A. Overton of Troy, Belle Finlay of Key West, Fla.

The family will be at the church fellowship hall, Sunday, following the service.

Briggs Funeral Home, Troy, is in charge of arrangements.

LaRue L. Williams

ROBBINS - LaRue Leach Williams, 66, of 236 Jim Road, died Friday, April 24, 1998, at her home.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Pine Grove Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Bill Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County and a homemaker.

Surviving are husband, Lendon Williams of the home; son, Terry Williams of Robbins; sister, Jerri Cooper of Asheboro; brothers, Warren H. Leach, Bill Leach, both of Asheboro; one granddaughter.

Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, is in charge of the arrangements.

Cora Lee Seamon Myers, 81, formerly of Charlotte, died Monday, April 27, 1998, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro.

SEAGROVE - Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" Hussey Owen, 94, of 328 Yow Road died Sunday, April 26, 1998, at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital, Troy.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Smyrna United Methodist Church, with the Rev. J.R. Tatum and the Rev. Joseph Casteel officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Moore County, the widow of Isaac Newton Owen and a homemaker.

Surviving are daughters, Eva Owen Ezell, Melba Owen Reynolds, both of Seagrove; two grandsons; two great-grandsons.

The family will at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 7-9 p.m. Monday, other times at the home.

Marie C. Lowdermilk

SEAGROVE - Marie Cox Lowdermilk, 82, of 7069 New Center Church Road, formerly of 1223 Old Liberty Road, Asheboro, died Monday, April 27, 1998, at her home.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur.

Clarice R. Albright

BISCOE - Clarice Rufus Albright, 96, of Craven Street, died Saturday, April 25,1998, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Shiloh Baptist Church, Ramseur, where she was a member, with the Rev. Bruce McLanahan and the Rev. David Schwartz officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church Cemetery, Erect.

She was a native of Randolph County, a graduate of Elon College, did graduate work at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, had taught in the Moore County schools and was retired from Seagrove Elementary School.

The family will be at the Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 7-9 p.m. Monday.

Sonya J. Dennis

TROY - Sonya Jean Dennis, 33, of 115 Taft St., died Sunday, April 26, 1998, at Duke Medical Center, Durham.

Funeral service will 2 p.m. Tuesday at Family Worship Ministries, where she was a member, with the Rev. Harold Pope officiating. Burial will be in Southside Cemetery.

She was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and an accounting clerk for Collins & Aikman.

Surviving are mother, Lina Wayss Dennis of the home; sister, Margaret Dennis Crump of Troy.

The family will be at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, Troy, 7-9 p.m. Monday.

Elsa Fobe

TROY - Elsa Rieger Fobe, 82, of 1934 N.C. 109 North, died Saturday, April 25, 1998, at her home.

A memorial service will be held at later date.

She was a native of Christianstadt, Germany, and a nutritionist.

Surviving are daughters, Helga Huffman of the home, Edith Fobe of San Francisco, Calif.; son, Rev. Helmut W. Richter of Pittsbury, Calif.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Ruby U. Robinson

NORMAN - Ruby Pearl Ussery Robinson, 76, of 3700 North U.S. 220, died Friday, April 24, 1998, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service was 3 p.m. Sunday at Briggs Candor Funeral Home, Candor, with the Rev. Joe Wilburn officiating. Burial was in Norman Cemetery.

She was a native of Montgomery County, a member of Norman United Methodist Church and a homemaker.

Surviving are son, H.W. "Bill" Robinson of the home; daughter, Lynn Russell of High Point; sisters, Evelyn Nichols of Ridgeway, S.C., Blanche Ussery, Georgia P. Deese, both of Rockingham, Ethel Gray Reynolds of Roberdel; three grandchildren.

Cora Lee Seamon Myers, 81, of Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home, Asheboro, died Monday, April 27, 1998, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Michael Jordan and the Rev. Tim Shoaf officiating. Burial will be in Sharon Memorial Park, Charlotte.

She was a native of Rowan County and a former resident of Charlotte.

Surviving are daughter, Ann M. Hoover of Asheboro; stepmother, Maude Seamon Powles of Cooleemee; sisters, Ella Louise Clawson of Salisbury, Helen Breedlove Daniels of Wilmington, Betty Sue Creason of Cooleemee; brothers, Calvin Owen Seamon, Harold Jack Seamon, both of Alexandria, Va., Curtis Douglas Seamon, Sidney Ray Seamon, both of Cooleemee; two grandsons; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Ridge Christian Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Jeff Stapleton and the Rev. Charles Stout officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County and was retired from Acme-McCrary.

Lowdermilk, both of Asheboro; brothers, Beck Cox of Franklinville, Jobe Cox of Ramseur, Vernie "Bunn" Cox of High Point; sisters, Polly Humble of Julian, Flossie Cox of Ramseur, Betty Overman of Siler City, Margaret Williamson of High Point, Patty Fowler of Asheboro, Peggy Brown of Franklinville; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home of son, Roy Lowdermilk, 389 Iron Mountain Road, Asheboro.

TRINITY - Nannie Thompson Patterson, 89, of GrayBrier Retirement and Nursing Home, formerly of Sophia, died Monday, April 27, 1998, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sechrest Funeral Home, Archdale, with Dr. James A. Summey and the Rev. Bill Barnes officiating. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery.

She was a native of Spartanburg, S.C., the widow of Joseph S. Patterson, was associated with Adams Millis Corp., retired from Kitty Tot Hosiery Mill and was a member of English Road Baptist Church and the Dorcas Sunday School class.

Surviving are daughter, Betty Shoe of Sophia; son, Larry W. Patterson of Trinity; sisters, Nettie T. Walls, Edna T. Patterson, both of High Point; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one step great-grandson.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
